Sylvia Collins
PELHAM, N.C. - Sylvia Ganey Newcomb Collins, 54, 374 Poole Road, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 20, 1998, at her residence.
Born June 27, 1943, in Danville, she was the daughter of Joseph H. Ganey and Susie Crawford Ganey, who survives.
She was married
to Carl "Bebo" Collins, who survives.
A resident of Caswell County for most of her life, she was a homemaker and a former assistant school teacher for Caswell County School System and also Danville Christian Schools.
She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years.
In addition to her mother of Danville, Va., and husband of the residence, survivors include three daughters, Toni Newcomb Furgurson and Traci Newcomb Gunnell, both of Pelham, and Nikki Lynn Collins of the residence; two stepdaughters, Janice Collins and Cathy Collins, both of Danville, Va.; two brothers, Joseph Craven Ganey of Huntsville, Ala., and James Douglas Ganey of South Boston; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Anthony Newcomb.
Funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Samuel L. Greeson and the Rev. Michael Kent. Burial will be in Schoolfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Swicegood Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of her daughter, Toni N. Furgurson, 342 Poole Road, Pelham.
Florence Hatchett
PELHAM, N.C. - Florence Duke Hatchett, 97, formerly of Allison Road, died Friday morning, Feb. 20, 1998, at Brian Center in Yanceyville.
A native of Rockingham County, she was a homemaker and the oldest member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
She was married
to William Harrelson Hatchett, who died in 1970.
Survivors include a son, W.H. Hatchett Jr. of Pelham; two grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will be at the residence of her son, W.H. Hatchett Jr., 3033 Allison Road, Pelham.

Bobby Smith
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Bobby Dwight Smith, 65, 6053 Hwy. 119 South, in Mebane, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center, after a decline in health of two months.
Born Aug. 26, 1932, in Caswell County, he was the son of Joseph T. and Sallie Oakley Smith.
He was a retired farmer and was a driver for Associated Transport for 15 years.
He was educated in Caswell County Schools.
He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict with the Arctic Test Branch in Big Delta, Alaska.
He was married
to Georgia Ann Pleasant on March 29, 1952.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David Ross Smith and Anita Brintle Smith of Yanceyville, and Thomas Dwight Smith and Nancy Gammon Smith of Yanceyville; three sisters, Shirley Smith Vernon of Yanceyville, Marion Smith Montgomery of McLeansville and Mary Ellen Smith English of Greensboro; and three grandchildren, Carie Ann Smith, Thomas Neal Smith, and Christy Michelle Smith, all of Yanceyville.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hooper Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Thomas Denny and Rev. Claude Harrelson. Interment will be in Hebron United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.

Mary Lea
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Mary Sue Lea, 296 Dillard School Drive, died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center, Danville, Va.
Born Dec. 12, 1903, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Lea.
She was married
to Roy "Teebie" Lea, who predeceased her.
She joined the High Rock Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Alice King of Plainfield, N.J., and Emma Louise Ingram of Yanceyville; a brother, Ned Lea of Yanceyville; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bobby Murray. Burial will be in Pearson Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
The body may be viewed 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Myra 'Loving' Morris
BURLINGTON, N.C. - Myra Vaden "Loving" Morris, 83, 629-C Shadowood Apts., died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
Born in Pittsylvania County, Va., she was a daughter of John A. and Myra Lillard Vaden.
She was married
to Dr. Clarence Poe Morris, who died in 1992.
She was a homemaker and a member of Front Street United Methodist Church and the Fannie Larkin Sunday School Class.
She was actively involved with her husband's long time Methodist Ministry with Camp Don Lee and United Methodist Church Board of Education.
The fellowship lodge at Camp Chestnut was dedicated to Dr. and Mrs. Morris's work in the church conference.
Survivors include a daughter, Myra Buff of Burlington; three sons, Jerome Morris of Burlington, Joel Morris of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Dr. David Morris of Lexington, S.C.; nine grandchildren; a brother, Claude Vaden of Danville, Va.; and a sister, Carmen Funk of Danville, Va.
A graveside service was conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, in Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. William C. Simpson and Dr. G. Robert McKenzie.

Annie Strader
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Annie Edna French Strader, 90, 2038 US 29 Business South, died Monday evening, Feb. 23, 1998, at Maplewood Nursing Center.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the daughter of William J. and Sarah Canady French.
She was married
to Jule C. Strader, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Mizpah United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Byrd Keck of Atlantic Beach and Becky Strader Robertson and Barbara S. Palmer, both of Reidsville; sons, Bobby R. Strader of Archdale and J. Wayne "Red" Strader of Reidsville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. today at Mizpah United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Barbara Palmer, 137 Palmer Road, Reidsville.

Henry Graves
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Henry Lee Graves, 92 GSTS Road, died Monday, February 23, 1998, in Duke University Medical Center, Durham.
Born Oct. 9, 1937, in Caswell County, he was a son of Ressie Watlington Graves, who survives, and the late Hugh Graves.
He joined the Jones Cross Road Baptist Church and was an employee of Monroe Lambert Logging Company.
Survivors in addition to his mother of the home include one son, Bryant King of Pelham; two daughters, Sandra King and Veronica King both of Pelham; four brothers, McArthur Graves of Yanceyville, Isiah Graves and Hugh Graves Jr. both of Reidsville; Eddie McCoy Graves of Gibsonville; two sisters, Nannie Graves Vinson of Yanceyville and Ruby Price of Burlington; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Sweet Gum Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. John Watlington, with burial in the church cemetery.

Lois Woods
PURLEY, N.C. - Lois Burton Woods, 89, 4575 Old N.C. 86 North, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home in Danville, Va.
Born July 17, 1908, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of John Drewry Burton and Claudia Compton Burton.
She was married
to John A. Woods, who died April 21, 1961.
She was a member of Purley United Methodist Church,a former school teacher at Providence School, a dietitian for DPI and operated a catering service from her home.
She was a member of Caswell Chapter 239 Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of Confederates.
Survivors include two sons, Andy G. Woods and John B. Woods, both of Purley; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Purley United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Floyd R. Morrow.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Marley Funeral Home, Yanceyville, and other times at the residences of John B. Woods and Andy G. Woods.

Alma Neaves
HIGH POINT, N.C. - Alma Parrish Neaves, 69, 1114 Grace St., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at N.C. Baptist Hospital following injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born Dec. 28, 1928, in Monroe, La., she was the daughter of William Lee and Lottie Pennell Parrish.
She had lived in High Point for most of her life and was employed by Galey & Lord Industries Inc., in Asheboro.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Martin of the residence; a son, Kenneth Neaves of Thomasville; a brother, Benjamin J. Parrish of Staunton, Va.; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, William Lee Neaves; and two brothers, Walter Parrish and Roby Parrish.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
