Louise O'Dell

EDEN, N.C. - Louise Elizabeth O'Dell, 87, formerly of Second Street, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Brian Nursing Center in Eden.

Born in Rockingham County, N.C., she was retired from Fieldcrest Mills.

Survivors include one sister, Ruby Powell of Danville, Va.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mamie Bray

REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Mamie Wilson Bray, 92, of 820 Harrison Cross Road, died Saturday morning, June 5, 1999, at Morehead Nursing Center.

A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., she was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

She was married icon to, William T. Bray, who died in 1994.

She was also predeceased by her daughter, Esther Dixon; and a son, William F. Bray.

Survivors include two sons, James T. Bray and Billy Bray, both of Reidsville; four daughters, Doris Ware, Lois McCollum, Louise Wray and Ann Loye, all of Reidsville; a sister, Viola Myers of Yanceyville; 24 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Eastside Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of her sister, Lois McCollum, at 1976 Narrow Gauge Road.

Louise Winstead

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Louise Williamson Winstead, 69, of 162 Highway 62 South, died Saturday, June 5, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 2, 1929, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of Elbert C. Williamson and Virginia Bowe Williamson.

She was married icon to James Horton Winstead, who predeceased her.

She was a member of Pearson Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she was the president of the usher board and a stewardess.

She was also a member of the Allen's Chapel Order of Eastern Star #529.

Survivors include one daughter, Carlotta L. Winstead of the home; one son, James Sidney Winstead of Yanceyville; one brother, Earl Williamson of Cleveland, Ohio; one grandchild and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be noon Tuesday at Pearson Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. George Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Monday at Fulton Funeral Home, Yanceyville, and at other times at the residence.

Lucille Gwynn

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Lucille Gwynn, 80, of Harrisburg, Pa., died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at Manor Care Health Services.

There are no immediate survivors.

Viewing will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Fulton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel in Yanceyville.

Burial will follow in the Blackwell Baptist Church Cemetery.

George Smith

PELHAM, N.C. - George Smith, 52, of 32 Lakeview Drive, died Thursday, June 10, 199 at his residence.

Born Aug. 8, 1947 in Reidsville, he was a son of James Winchester and the late Louise Scales Winchester.

He was married icon to Carolyn Smith, who survives.

Smith was employed by Fleet Master Trucking Company for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his father, survivors include one son, LeGeorge Smith of Pelham; two sisters, Annie Doe of Reidsville and Melinda Lazenby of New Jersey; one brother, James L. Winchester of Reidsville.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from the Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Stacey Frazier officiating.

Interment with military rites by American Legion Post #325 will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Eunice Barber

Eunice Henderson Barber, 69, of 224 Parker Road, formerly of Providence, N.C., died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center.

Born March 21, 1929, in Sun West, she was the daughter of Arthur Henderson and Sadie Mae Blackwell Henderson.

She was married icon to James E. Barber Sr.

Educated in the Pittsburgh, Pa., public school system, she was a retired New York City telephone operator and a licensed beautician.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The Knights Ladies Auxiliary, Church Stewardship, The Women's Club, and a Curscillio member.

She is survived by her husband of the residence; one daughter, Constance "Connie" Barber-Alston of Danville; two sisters, Ruby Thompson of Detroit, Mich., and Julia Slofer of Pittsburgh, Pa.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two children, Sadie Lenora and James E. Barber Jr., and two brothers, William H. Henderson and Arthur Ray Henderson, and one sister, Maggie Henderson Thomas.

Fulton Funeral Home in Yanceyville, N.C., is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Connie Barber-Alston, of 103 Tolliver Place.

Mary Austin

Mary Rawlins Austin, formerly of Park Springs Road, Caswell County, N.C., died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.

Born Aug. 12, 1909, in Ruffin, N.C., she was the daughter of Charles Edward Rawlins and Mary Ellen Carter Rawlins.

She was married icon to James Austin, who predeceased her in 1969.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Harrelson and her husband, H. Turner Harrelson, of 779 Allison Road, Ruffin, N.C., Virginia Nelson and her husband, Bill Nelson, of 878 Luna Lake Road, and Sue McMinnis and her husband, Donald B. McMinnis, of 2396 Afton Road; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held 11 a.m. today at Bethel United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residences of her daughters.

Townes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Anyone wishing to make memorial contributions may make them to Bethel United Methodist Church, C/o Kay J. Satterfield at 7375 Park Springs Road, Pelham, N.C.

Lisa English

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Lisa Glenn English, 38, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, died Monday, May 31, 1999, in Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.

Born December 31, 1960, in Lynchburg, Va., she was the daughter of Sandra Moon Saunders of Penhook and the late Mike Saunders.

She was also the daughter of Glenn C. English of Eden, N.C.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Mona and James Moon, and Kate and Connie English. Lisa was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother James E. English of Denver, CO.; a sister Robin E. Hughes of South Boston; two step-brothers Michael R. Saunders Jr. and Monte D. Saunders, both of Danville; a step-sister Kimberly S. Shields of Dry Fork.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Wayne Grinnell, minister.

Burial will follow in the Christ Community Church Cemetery, Penhook.

The family will receive friends at the residence of her mother Sandra M. Saunders, 667 Bull Run Trail, Penhook.

In liew of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 3201 Brandon Ave. Suite 5, Roanoke, Va. 24018.

Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of arrangements.
