Bernice Oliver
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — Bernice Dalton Haymes Oliver, 94, formerly of Milton, N.C., died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 in the Brian Center, Yanceyville.
Born Jan 1, 1907 in Gretna, Va., she was the daughter of William Douglas Dalton and Lucy Goad Dalton.
She was married
to Lester Haymes, who predeceased her, and later remarried to Walter Oliver, who also predeceased her.
She moved to Milton at an early age and was a member of the Milton Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include Katherine Haymes McGee of Milton, one sister, Ethel Ramsey of Danville, Va., and three grandchildren.
The graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with the Rev. David Wilson officiating.
The family will be at the residence of Katherine McGee, 17 Fairview Drive, Milton.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to Milton Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 17, Milton, NC 27305.

Rachel Wilson
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — Rachel Rimmer Wilson, 57, of 478 Bo Carter Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, Burlington, N.C., following a brief illness.
Born Dec. 30, 1943, in Alamance County, she was the daughter of Elizebeth Rudd Rimmer and Herbert Marshall Rimmer.
She was married
to Aron “Doug” Wilson who survives. She was a health care provider, homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her mother Elizabeth Rudd Rimmer of Yanceyville; five daughters Barbara W. Wiley of Semora, N.C., Donna W. Johnson, of the residence, Tammy Gross of Graham, N.C., Teresa Peek of Dry Fork, Va., Kim Wilson, of Yanceyville; one sister Rebecca R. Allen of Yanceyville and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Marley Funeral Home, and at other times at the home on Bo Carter Road.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery fund, C/O Mrs. Shirley Vernon, 186 N.C. Hwy. 119 N., Mebane, N.C. 27302.
Robert Yellock
DURHAM, N.C. — Robert Arthur Yellock, 96, of Northwood Manor 303 E. Carver St., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, in the Durham Regional Medical Center.
Born August, 9, 1904, he was the son of Flether Yellock and Jennie Harris Yellock.
He was married
to Willie Clara Bimpass Yellock. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include four daughters, Dora J. Davis, Loretta Y. Blackwell both of Roxboro, N.C., Lucilla Y. Jay of Semora, N.C., Narcissus Y. Potaet of Burlington, N.C.; two sons, McKinley Yellock and Robert Yellock, both of Roxboro, N.C.; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. at Allens Chapel Baptist Church, Prospect Hill, N.C., with the Rev. James Brown officiating.
A viewing will be held 4-8 p.m. at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the residence of the daughter, at 606 Jones Lester Road, Roxboro, N.C.

Carlie Davis
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. —- Carlie Newman Davis, 101, of Fayetteville, formerly of Danville, Va., died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at High Smith Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville.
Born Dec. 23, 1899, she was the daughter of Davis Newmon and Alzira Johnson Newman.
She was married
to William H. Davis, who predeceased her. She was a member of Shermont Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, William Davis Jr., Ronald Davis and Franklin Davis, all of Danville, Va.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husband, by two daughters, Aurelle Pruitt, Clairene Davis; two sons, Alton Davis and Nolan Davis; two brothers, Ned Newman and P.D. Newman, and two sisters, Gaddy Bevins and Effie Burnett.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Claude Bailey and Bill Soyars officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Townes Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Franklin Davis, 157 Easter Drive, and Ronald Davis, 224 Avalon Drive.

William Drumwright
MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — William Cecil Drumwright, 85, of 582 Robin Road, died Feb. 8, 2001, at Carteret General Hospital after one year of declining health.
Born March 4, 1915, in Chatham, Va., he was the son of Willie and Gertrude Drumwright.
He was married
to Louise Nance Drumwright, who predeceased him Oct. 5, 1992. He lived in Danville for 35 years and was employed by Pyrofax Gas Company until his retirement in 1978.
Survivors include one sister, Mozelle D. Robinson of Danville, Va., and one son, Rickey D. Drumwright of Morehead City.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Highland Burial Park.
William Harris
GREENSBORO, N.C. — William D. Harris, 39, of Greensboro, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001.
He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Harris, Sr., who survive.
He was married
to Lisa Ragsdale-Harris, who survives.
In addition to his parents of Newport News, Va., and his wife of Greensboro, survivors include one sister, Cheryl Parker of Newport News, Va., and two brothers, Eric Harris of Ramstein, Germany, and Andrew Jones of Fayetteville.
The funeral will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Greensboro with Bishop George Brooks officiating.
Arrangements will be entrusted to Woodard Funeral Home of Greensboro courtesy of Crawford, Garrett and Burton Funeral Services Inc.
George Pass
PELHAM, N.C. — George Henry Pass, of 8265 Old Highway 29, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville, N.C.
Born in Rockingham, N.C., he was married
to Janet R. Pass, who survives. He was a member of Bold Springs Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a United States Army veteran.
He was a pastor at St. James, Mill Creek, in Danville, Smith Chapel Baptist Church in Whitetown, N.C., and Shockoe Baptist Church in Java, Va., where he retired after 42 years of service.
His affiliations included Cherrystone Missionary Baptist Association, Cedar Grove Association and Reidsville Ministerial Alliance. He retired from the former American Tobacco Company in Reidsville, N.C.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one son, John Wayne Pass; two brothers, Dewey Alyis Thornton and Fred Thornton, of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Alfridia Halsell, of Yeadon, Pa., Margaret C. Whitt, of Reidsville, Elsmer Herbin, of of Durham, and Annie Mae Williamson, of Eden, and one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church in Java with the Rev. John B. Doe officiating. Interment will follow at Bluestone Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelham.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Shockoe Baptist Church, and other times at the residence of John Pass, 1635 Brooks Road, Reidsville.

Raymond Pyrant
PROVIDENCE, N.C. — Raymond Pyrant, 81, of 6697 Old Highway 86, Providence, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health.
Born March 23, 1919 in Caswell County, he was the son of William Andrew Pyrant and Maude Buck Pyrant.
He was married
to Margaret Hall Pyrant, who survives. He lived most of his life in the Providence community where he was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was a Deacon, Traing Director and served on various committees of the church. He was also a member of Woodman of the World and the American Legion. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II serving in the Medical Corps. He owned and operated Pyrant's Glass Shop in Danville, Va.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Wayne Pyrant of Wichita, Kan., Tim Pyrant of Durham; two daughters, Judie Cornell of Danville, Va., Doris White of Yanceyville; one brother, Joffrey Pyrant of Sanford; two sisters, Thelma Dix and Frances Lewis, both of Providence and seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by two brothers, George Pyrant, Aubrey Pyrant and one sister, Ruby Pyrant Johnson.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church in Providence with the Revs. Buddy Hall and Keith Trull officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.

David Hoskins Sr.
PELHAM, N.C. — David Henderson Hoskins Sr., 63, of 133 Dixie Road, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 30, 1937, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Otha Henderson Hawkins and Annie Hall Hoskins.
He was married
to Dixie Hankins Hoskins, who survives. He worked as a foreman in construction and also farmed. He was a member of State Line Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter, Angela Dameron of Yanceyville, N.C.; five sons, Carlton E. Hoskins, Mark Allen Hoskins, Gary Dwayne Hoskins, Michael Wayne Hoskins, all of Pelham, N.C., and David Hoskins Jr. of Danville; three borthers, Larry Wayne Hoskins Sr., of Yorktwon, Hubert Steven Hoskins, Thomas Lee Hoskins, both of Pelham, N.C.; one step-daughter, Tammy Nunnally of Keeling, nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Wallace and Billy Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Schoolfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence of the brother, Hubert Hoskins, 780 Arch Cook Road, Pelham, N.C.
