Thelma Bray

BLANCHE, N.C. — Thelma Louise Wilson Bray, 82, of 442 Bertha Wilson Road, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 20, 1918, in Danville, she was the daughter of William Wilson and Betty L. Norton Wilson.
She was married icon to James Edward Bray, who predeceased her in 1973. She was a self-employed sitter before her retirement and was a member of Community Baptist Church in Yanceyville.
Survivors include one son, Howard E. Bray of Haw River; two daughters, Louise B. Moshenek of Ringgold, Va. and Carolyn B. Guthrie of Blanche; three sisters, Irene W. Plummer of Denton, Dorothy W. Bailey of Denton and Janie W. Barker of Blanche; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husband, by three brothers, Bill Wilson, Harry Wilson and Jim Wilson and four sisters, Otelia W. Clayton, Sue W. Doolin, Pauline W. Wallace and Katy W. Gibson.
The graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Providence Baptist Church cemetery in Providence with the Rev. Rick Markham officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home.
Barker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Fannie Henderson

PELHAM, N.C. — Fannie Murphy Henderson, 78, of 40 Mt. View Drive, died Saturday June 2, 2001 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born August 14, 1922, she was the daughter of John Will Murphy and Annie Nora Hensley Murphy. She was married icon to James Arthur Henderson Sr., who predeceased her.
She was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Circle and the usher board. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Naomi Chapter 613. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include five sons, James Arthur Henderson Jr., Charles Henderson, Louis Henderson, Michael Henderson all of Pelham and John Henderson of Reidsville, N.C.; three daughters, Mary H. Graves, Shirley H. Mitchell and Debra H. Paylor all of Pelham; one brother, Daniel Murphy of Ruffin, N.C.; four sisters, Ida Bell Adams of Providence, N.C., Lillie Stephens, Mary France Murphy, and Arlene Jackson all of Pelham; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and her husband, by one son, Willie Henderson.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Red Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregory Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The viewing will be held 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel in Yanceyville, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Debra Paylor at 61 Germantowne Road, Pelham.

Martha Johnson

PELHAM, N.C. — Martha Ann George Johnson, 55, of 63 Aspen St., died Saturday June 2, 2001 at her residence.
Born Oct. 31, 1945 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Dewey George and Mazie Reynolds George.
She was married icon to Ronnie L. Johnson, who survives. She was a retired school teacher with Danville Public Schools and a member of Lively Stones Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Karen Bishop of Easly, S.C. and Joy Lee Sloop of Shelby, N.C.; three brothers, Buddy George and Kenneth George both of Danville and Clyde George of Lynchburg, Va. and eight grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents by a brother, Robert George and a daughter, Suzanne Whitener.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday, at Colbert-Moran Chapel in Gretna, Va. with the Rev. Michael Kent officiating. Interment will follow in the Summersett Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

Jennifer Landolt

WEST END, N.C. — Jennifer Rose "Jennie Rose" Landolt, 3, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Born Feb. 26, 1998, in Moore County, she was the daughter of David and Trish Wike Landolt. She attended Generation Center of St. Joseph of the Pines.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include one sister, Vanessa Landolt, and one brother, Zachary Landolt, both of the residence; maternal grandparents, Ona Wike of Danville, Va., and James Wike of Reidsville and paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Landolt of St. Louis, Mo.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Generation Center, c/o St. Joseph of the Pines, 100 Gossman Drive, Southern Pines, NC 28387.

Rodger Price

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — Rodger Lee Price, 50, of 291 West Church St., died Tuesday May 29, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born January 17, 1951, he was the son of John Henry Price and Queen Goins Price Willis.
He was married icon to Shirdean Price of Providence, N.C. He was a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church and was a former employee of L.H. Vernon Construction.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Greg Jeffries of Greensboro, N.C. and Micheal Ingram of Burlington, N.C.; two brothers, John H. Price Jr. of Reidsville, N.C. and James W. Price Sr. of Yanceyville; one sister, Elsie M. Long of Yanceyville and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blackwell Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will recieve friends 7-8 p.m. Monday at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel in Yanceyville and at other times at the residence of his sister at 305 West Church St. and at his brother’s residence at 3986 Hodge Dairy Rd.

Ida Washington

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — Ida Gwynn Williamson Washington of 1337 McGehee St. died on Friday morning, June 8, 2001 at the residence.
She was a native of Caswell County and had lived the majority of her adult life in Reidsville,. She received her elementary and secondary education at the William Penn High School in High Point. Further studies were done at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she received a BS degree in Elementary Education. She completed postgraduate work at Winston-Salem State University. For more than 40 years, she had an illustrious career in the Caswell County School System and Lincoln Consolidated School of Rockingham County. Mrs. Washington was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she served as a former worship chairperson of Mission Group No. 4. Her other affiliations include, charter and life member of the Reidsville Business and Professional Negro Women’s Club Inc., member of North Carolina A&T Alumni Association, Royal Coterie of Larks, Nocturnes Bridge Club, the McGehee and Ash Street Flower Club. Professionally, she has also served as Chairperson of the North Carolina Teachers Association and the National Education Association; also a former member of the Rockingham County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Sadie W. Fowlkes of Reidsville and Mrs. Cleopatra W. Robinson of Virginia Beach, Va.; an adopted son, James A. Price of Reidsville; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, from the First Baptist Church. Dr. Joseph Bryant will officiate and interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery.
The family visitation will be Monday evening from 7:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Johnson and Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the United Negro College Fund, 310 West 4th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.

Dora Willis

MEBANE, N.C. — Dora Francis Willis, 89, of White Oak Manor, 323 Baldwin Road, Burlington, formerly of Mebane and Danville, Va., died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at White Oak Manor after several years of declining health.
Born in Pittsylvania County, Va., she was the daughter of Charlie William Francis and Jossie F. Frances.
She was married icon to George W. Willis, who predeceased her. She was a homemaker and member of Mebane United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Myrtle Reynolds of Danville, Va.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Burial Park in Danville with Dr. Alan Swartz officiating.
McClure Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Katie Elmore

BLANCH, N.C. — Katie M. Elmore, 93, of 4044 Stephantown Rd., died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.
Born Oct. 1, 1907, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of Will and Sarah McCain.
She was married icon to Roy Elmore, who predeceased her. She attended the public schools of Caswell County and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Semora.
Survivors include five sons, Leonard, Willie Roy Jr. and David, all of Blanch; Edward of Milton and Robert of Burlington; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Preston Medley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The viewing will be held 12-5 p.m. Monday at Plenty Funeral home Chapel. The wake will follow from 7-8 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Goldie Patterson

WENDELL, N.C. — Goldie Belle Crowder Patterson, 88, of 1120 Heritage Drive died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh.
Born Jan. 25, 1913, in Carroll County, Va., she was the daughter of Floyd J. Crowder and Virginia Edith Sutherland Crowder.
She was married icon to Elmer “Pat“ Patterson, who predeceased her March 5, 1986. She spent most of her life in the Danville, Va. area before moving to Wendell nine years ago to live with her daughter. She formerly worked for Dan River Inc., where she retired, and was also a homemaker. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Baper of Wendell, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husband, by one daughter, Marvelene Patterson Swartz.
The graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Schoolfield Cemetery, Danville, Va., with Elder Jim White officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home and other times at 33 Hylton Avenue, Danville, Va.
Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
