Bennettsville - Mrs. Thelma Pauline Cameron, 86, of Bennettsville and formerly of Third Street, Laurinburg died Tuesday, November 18, at Marlboro Park Hospital in Bennettsville.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel with the Rev. Wayman Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

She is survived by a son, Gilbert Daniel “Danny” Cameron of Lavenne, TN; a daughter, Ruth Terraza of El Paso, TX; a daughter-in-law, Fannie Nichols of Bennettsville; nine grandchildren.

Born September 19, 1917 in Rock Hill, SC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Jeneva Maria Kimbrell Conyers and widow of the late Henry Daniel Cameron. She was a retired textile employee.

Ruth Nance Thompson
Born in Alabama on Aug. 12, 1912
Departed on Oct. 22, 2003 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.

Laurinburg - Mrs. Ruth Nancy Thompson, 91, of Scotia Village and formerly of Lumberton died Wednesday, October 22, at Scotia Village.

A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Morris Morgan Room, Scotia Village officiated by the Rev. Dr. Stan Smith.

She is survived by two sons, John Thompson and wife, Patricia of Lumberton and Les Thompson and wife, Jane of Lumberton; four grandchildren, Bradley Thompson, II, Holly Thompson, Leslie C. Thompson, and Samuel B. Thompson of Lumberton, and her special friends, Lloyd and Beth Strickland of Cerro Gordo.

Born in Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Junius Rupert and Rosa Cardine Pittman Nance. She was a member of the Daughters of the America Revolution and the Lumberton Garden Club. She was also a former secretary for Whitehead Anderson Company.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353, Scotia Village Foundation, 2200 Elm Ave., Laurinburg, NC 28352 or a charity of one’s choice.

Visitation will follow the service in the Morris Morgan Room.

Loretta Lawrence McKeithen
Born in Salem, Virginia on Dec. 23, 1926
Departed on Oct. 19, 2003 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.

Laurinburg - Mrs. Loretta Lawrence McKeithen, 76, of Scotia Village died Sunday, October 19, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by the Revs. Jim Holderness, Elizabeth Forester, and Leighton McKeithen.

Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

She is survived by a son, Ian McKeithen of Houston, TX, two daughters; Shan Chase of Cameron and Karen Schaede of Greensboro; a brother, Weldon Lawrence, Jr. of Roanoke, VA; six grandchildren.

Born December 23, 1926 in Salem, VA, she was a daughter of the late Weldon T. and Rena Muncie Lawrence and widow of the late Dr. Murdoch R. McKeithen.

Loretta was a Registered Nurse and former member of the US Air Force. She was a nurse in the nursery at Scotland Memorial Hospital and later taught nursing at Richmond Community College.

Loretta was a charter board member of Hospice of Scotland County where she was the first volunteer nurse, the volunteer coordinator, assisted with volunteer training, chairperson of the Tree of Remembrance, and participated in all Hospice activities: golf tournament, candlelight service, and the bereavement dinner. She was also the chairperson of Hospice of Scotland County in 1993.

Loretta also received the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service in 1989, was a board member of the Scotland County End of Life Care Coalition, and was on the board of the Scotland Memorial Foundation.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morris Morgan Room, Scotia Village.

Carl Dewey Caulder
Born in Bladen County, NC on Aug. 1, 1920
Departed on Oct. 26, 2003 and resided in Hamlet, NC.
Cemetery: Wright's Cemetery

Hamlet, NC - Mr. Carl D. Caulder, 83, of 2175 Hwy. 74 East, Hamlet died Sunday October 26, 2003.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home, Laurel Hill with the Rev. Craig Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Wright’s Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Estelle Evers Caulder of the home; three sons, James Caulder of Manchester, KY, Earl Caulder of Monroe and George Caulder of Sanford; five daughters, Kelly Liles of Marston, Janice Daniels of Kannapolis, Linda Dunn of Ellerbe, Teresa Caulder of Hendersonville, and Gail Dutch of Laurel Hill; 34 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren.

Mr. Caulder was born August 1, 1920 in Bladen County, the son of the late Baxcom and Bessie Caulder. He was retired from Springs Mills.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home in, Laurel Hill.

Bonnie Earl Wade
Born in Norfolk, VA on Nov. 12, 1911
Departed on Oct. 16, 2003 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.

Mr. Bonnie Earl Wade, 91, of 11740 Mary's Road died Thursday, October 16, at his home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. saturday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. L. D. Kimrey. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Pittman Wade; a daughter, Shirley Godfrey and husband, Ronnie of Laurinburg; a step daughter, Jackie Ford and husband, Tommy of Laurinburg; a step-son, Johnny Hardy of Winston-Salem; a granddaughter, Veronica Godfrey of Chicago.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 883, Laurinburg, NC 28353 or Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Sandra Dameron Wallace
Born in Yukon, WV on Jan. 12, 1937
Departed on Oct. 21, 2003 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.

Laurinburg - Mrs. Sandra Dameron Wallace, 66, of 17320 Wagram Road died Tuesday, October 21, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A memorial service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Jerry Lowery and the Rev. Dr. John Paschal. A private burial will precede the service officiated by the Rev. Dr. Stan Smith and the Rev. Nancy Willard.

She is survived by a son, Charlie Wallace and wife, Lindsay of Laurinburg; her mother, Bertha Dameron of Gray, TN; three brothers, Aaron Dameron and Jack Dameron of Tazewell, VA and Jerry Dameron of Blountville, TN.

Born in Yukon, WV, she was also a daughter of the late Aubrey Earnest Dameron and widow of the late John Wallace.

Sandra formerly was a teller at Southern National Bank and for over thirty years was the secretary-treasurer of Wallace Trucking Company. An active member of the First United Methodist Church, Sandra was a former member of the Administrative Board, chairperson of the Memorials and Gifts Committee and a member of the Emmaus community. She was also active in the Relay for Life and many other areas in her community.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 101 W. Church St., Laurinburg, NC 28352 or the American Cancer Society, 11 S. Boylan Ave., Raleigh, NC 27603.

Visitation will be 6 - 7:15 p.m. Friday at the Nettie Hammond Fellowship Hall, First United Methodist Church.

Ernest Dewitt Blalock
Born in Durham County, NC on Sep. 11, 1915
Departed on Oct. 10, 2003 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.

Laurinburg - Ernest Dewitt Blalock, 88, died Friday, October 10, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Stan Smith and the Rev. Nancy Willard.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Tilley Blalock; a son, Ronnie Blalock and wife, Joy of Laurinburg; three daughters, Carolyn Zakrzewski and husband, Cary of Durham; Linda Stone of Laurinburg, and Anne Beverly and husband, Jerry of San Antonio, TX; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Born September 11, 1915 in Durham County, he was a son of the late Banks and Annie Frances Wells Blalock. Ernest was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy. Following the war he was a sales representative of Luter Packing Co. for over 40 years.

He was also a member of the Young at Hearts Club and the American Legion.

An active member of the First United Methodist Church, Ernest served as the Sunday School Superintendent, assistant Sunday School Superintendent, a member of the United Methodist Men, the Ed Guest Sunday School Class, and the JOY Club.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Peggy Poole Buie
Born in Clayton, NC on Jul. 14, 1930

Laurinburg, NC - Mrs. Peggy Poole Buie, age 74, of 700 Morrison Lane died suddenly Saturday, February 5, at Ocean Isle Beach.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Stan Smith, the Rev. Dr. Vernon Tyson, and the Rev. Nancy Willard.

She is survived by her husband, Charles G. Buie, Jr.; three sons, Gib Buie of Raleigh; Clifton Buie of Laurinburg, and Frank Buie and wife, Angie of Laurinburg; a daughter, Evelyn Shytle and husband, Chip of Laurinburg; five grandchildren, Kitch Shytle, Mary Elizabeth Shytle, Will Shytle, Katie Shytle and Munroe Buie.

Born July 14, 1930 in Clayton, she was a daughter of the late Bonnie Clifton and Evelyn Kitchin Poole. She was a 1952 graduate of Meredith College and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and her church circle. Peggy loved spending family time at the beach.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium and following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.

Blease Locklear
Born in Marlboro County, SC on May 10, 1944
Departed on Feb. 6, 2005 and resided in Marston, NC.

Marston, NC - Blease Locklear, 60, of 27365 Trol Road died Sunday, February 6, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Michael Robertson. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Smith Locklear; three sons, Anthony Wade Locklear of West End, Daniel Clayton Locklear of Marston and Jonathan Blease Locklear of Lumberton; one daughter, Lisa Lesley of Laurinburg; his mother, Ila Locklear of McColl, SC; two brothers, Blanchard “Shorty” Locklear of McColl, SC and Billy Ray Locklear of Virginia; five sisters, Bobbie Locklear, Patsy Ann Locklear and Bonnie Lou McCall of McColl, SC, Blanche Locklear and Betty Cooper of Laurinburg; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild.

Born May 10, 1944 in Marlboro County, Blease was the son of the late Arthur Locklear. He worked as a mechanic.

Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Tuesday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium, Laurinburg.

Martha Claiborne McInnis
Born in Kingstree, SC on Feb. 15, 1915
Departed on Feb. 16, 2005 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.
Cemetery: Carolina Presbyterian Church

Laurinburg, NC - Mrs. Martha Claiborne McInnis, 90, of Scotia Village and formerly of Clio died Wednesday, February 16, at Scotia Village.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Carolina Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Clio by the Rev. Thomas Groome.

She is survived by her son, John McInnis, III and his wife, Gail of Clio and her daughter, Claiborne McInnis of Bennettsville; two grandchildren, Beth McInnis of Spartanburg and Haden Milligan of Laurinburg.

She was born February 15, 1915 in Kingstree, SC, a daughter of the late William C. and Bessie Boyd Claiborne. A graduate of Coker College, “Miss Martha” taught history and Latin in Summerton, Bennettsville, Clio, and Gibson. She was also a former adult Sunday school teacher at Clio Presbyterian Church. She was a Cub Scout Den mother and a beloved grandmother.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.

The family will be receiving friends at the residence of John McInnis, 1622 Tatum Hwy., Clio.
