Laurinburg - Mr. James Paul Campbell, 77, of 12501 Kay Road died Wednesday, January 25, at the Morrison Manor.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. L. D. Kimrey. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Daniels Campbell, three sons, James Michael “Mike” Campbell and wife, Bonnie Ray of Rockingham, William Bryan Campbell and wife, Lucinda of Laurinburg, and Jameson Dale “Jamie” Campbell and wife, Lisa of Gibson; a daughter, Barbara Denise Byrd and husband, Buddy of Laurinburg; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine C. Jackson.

Born July 30, 1927 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Jesse and Desdie Cribb Campbell. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Hawaii, and later served with the National Guard. He was a retired employee of J. P. Stevens.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 883, Laurinburg, NC 28353 or Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Mae Cribb Haywood
Born in Hemmingway, SC on Apr. 6, 1915
Departed on Jan. 22, 2006 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.

Laurinburg - Mrs. Mae Cribb Haywood, 90, formerly of McBryde Avenue died Sunday, January 22, at Century Care.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Peele’s Chapel Wesleyan Church officiated by the Rev. J. W. Williams. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

Born April 6, 1915 in Hemmingway, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert N. and Carrie Moore Cribb. She worked for Morgan Mills for 39 years. Mae was also a very active member of Peele’s Chapel, serving for years as their treasurer and in numerous other positions.

She is survived by a half sister, Louise Adams of Orangeburg, SC and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Wednesday at Peele’s Chapel.

Memorials are requested for Peele’s Chapel Wesleyan Church, 20781 McEachin Rd., Laurel Hill, NC 28351.

Garry Lyn Prevatte
Born in Laurinburg, NC on May 27, 1955
Departed on Jan. 21, 2006 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.

Laurinburg - Mr. G. Lyn Prevatte, 50, of McBryde Avenue died Saturday, January 21, at the Morrison Manor.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Blease. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Born May 27, 1955 in Laurinburg he is a son of Miriam Prevatte and the late Cole Blease Prevatte. He is a former EMT with the Scotland County Emergency Medical Services and was active in the Shining Star Clubhouse.

He is survived by his mother, Miriam Prevatte of Laurinburg; two sisters, Judy Prevatte-Griggs and husband, Jim of Laurinburg, and Jo Linda Creech and husband, Tommy of Cheraw, SC.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Woodrow Wilson Roberts, Sr.
Born in Marlboro County, NC on Sep. 13, 1943
Departed on Dec. 31, 2005 and resided in Laurel Hill, NC.

Laurel Hill - Mr. Woodrow Wilson Roberts, Sr., 62, of Snead’s Grove Road died Saturday, December 31, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Multitudes Church officiated by the Revs. Lester English, Opie Swails, and Richard Koch. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park with Jerry Gattis, Tommy Clark, Thomas McKinnon, Mark Nuzzo, Wayne Poole, and Billy Shoemake serving as pallbearers.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Bowyer Roberts; a son, Woodrow T. Roberts of Laurel Hill; two daughters, Deborah Knight and husband, Randy of Raleigh and Kirstie Jorgensen and husband, James of Laurinburg; two brothers, Donald Roberts of Bryan, TX and Thomas Roberts of Hamlet; a sister, Joann Mohr of Georgetown, TX; five grandchildren, Matthew Knight, Beth Knight, Mark Knight, John Jorgensen, and Sara Jorgenson. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Essie Bowyer of Laurel Hill.

Born September 13, 1943 in Marlboro County, SC he was a son of the late Ellie W. and Thelma Davis Roberts.

Wilson was a building contractor, having built many houses and Multitudes Church. He also enjoyed building wood crafted items and was always helping others. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was happy outdoors and in nature.

The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

John Frank Moser
Born in Maxton, NC on Mar. 3, 1919
Departed on Jan. 4, 2006 and resided in Maxton, NC.

Maxton - Mr. John Frank Moser, 86, of 105 W. Smith Street died Wednesday, January 4, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Robert Dendy. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

He is survived by a son, Johnny Moser of Maxton; a daughter, May Helen Hinson of Ocean Isle Beach; two brothers, Floyd Moser of Moultrie, GA and Marion Moser of Maxton; a sister, Willena Welch of Raleigh; his companion and sister-in-law, Brownie Speros of Maxton; four grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Born March 3, 1919 in Maxton, he was a son of the late Walter K. and Annyce Abell Moser and widower of the late Helen Speros Moser. He was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in Africa and afterwards was a building contractor with Speros Construction Co. and later Mospe Corporation.

John Frank also served three terms as Mayor of Maxton, was a Mason, a former member of the Mormax Club, and served as an elder and deacon at his church.

Visitation will be 1 – 3 p.m. Friday at the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church.

Eloise Brock Caulder
Born in Scotland County on Aug. 25, 1921
Departed on Jan. 4, 2006 and resided in Laurel Hill, NC.
Cemetery: Hillside Memorial Park

Laurel Hill, NC - Mrs. Eloise Brock Caulder, 84, of Bayfield Road died Wednesday January 4, 2006 at Morrison Manor.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Saturday at Laurel Hill Baptist Church with Don Malpass officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Born August 25, 1921 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late William Joseph and Hattie Inman Brock. She worked in textiles at the Springfield Plant until her retirement and was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by eight grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Caulder; a son, Nick Caulder; three brothers, Frank Brock, Tom Brock and Jerry Brock and a sister, Ethel Nelson.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Aletha Brown Wallace
Born in Scotland County, NC on Aug. 26, 1913
Departed on Jan. 14, 2006 and resided in Laurel Hill, NC.

Laurel Hill - Mrs. Aletha Brown Wallace, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend departed this life on Saturday, January 14, 2006.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel officiated by the Revs. Randall Snead and Belton Taylor, Jr. Burial will follow in the Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.

A native of Scotland County, Aletha was born August 26, 1913, a daughter of the late Jesse P. and Alma Gwyn Brown. On September 8, 1931 she was joined in holy matrimony with the late James Vester Wallace, her beloved husband for 69 years. She was also a retired inspector for Springs Mills.

She is survived by a daughter, Maxine Gibson of Southern Pines; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, Foster, J. T., and Elmer Brown, and three sisters, Margaret McKenzie, Pauline King, and Jessie Barnes.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Sam Lee Windsor
Born in Forsyth County, NC on Jul. 29, 1934
Departed on Dec. 31, 2005 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.

Laurinburg, NC - Mr. Sam Lee Windsor, 71, of Charles Drive, died Saturday, December 31, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. John Cottingham. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Born July 29, 1934 in Forsyth County, he was a son of the late Harvey and Carrie Susan Krites Windsor. He was the owner of Sam’s Mobile Homes for the past 23 years and had been in the manufactured home business for 42 years. Sam loved the beach and was a friendly people-person. He was a race fan and raced when he was younger and also was a big supporter of the NRA.

He loved his children and grandchildren and was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, in 1999.

He is survived by two sons, Andrew B. Windsor and wife, Michelle of Laurel Hill and David L. Windsor and wife, Teresa of Anderson, SC; a brother, Ron Windsor of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Elise Windsor, Patrick Windsor, and Emily Windsor.

Visitation will be 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Lewis Willard Bowlin, Jr.
Born in Middleton, OH on Mar. 6, 1924
Departed on Jan. 10, 2006 and resided in Laurinburg, NC.
Cemetery: Arlington National Cemetery

Laurinburg, NC - Mr. Lewis Willard Bowlin, 81, of 704 Sherbrooke Circle died Tuesday, January 10, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

He is survived his wife, Elizabeth Flanagan Bowlin; a daughter, Liz Surface of Laurinburg; a brother, James M. Bowlin of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul R. Bowlin who was killed in Vietnam in 1969.

Born March 6, 1924 in Middleton, Ohio he was a son of the late Lewis W. and Margaret McLaughlin Bowlin. He was a US Marines veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. He was a retired engraver with the U. S. Treasury Department.
