She was retired from textiles.
Survivors include her husband, Earl E. Buchanan of the home; son, Lanny T. Pruett, Sr. of Gastonia; and father, Walter Branch of Kannapolis.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margie Messer Branch; daughter, Brenda J. Branch; and brother, Sherman Branch.

Evelyn Ruth Haynes Worthey, 64, of 119 Hallman St., died June 28, 1997 at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. David Rabb officiating. Burial is in City Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is 4-5:30 p.m. today at Carpenter's Funeral Home.
Born in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Haynes and Marie Neal Haynes. She was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Walter Worthey of the home; daughter, Donna W. Lay of Cherryville; brothers, Sonny Neal and Rick Neal, both of Cherryville; sister, Shelby Ford of Cherryville; half-brother, Max Haynes of China Grove; and grandchildren, Stephanie and Amy Lay.

Born May 25, 1925 in Kershaw, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Minnie Catoe Payne and wife of the late James O. ``Bill" Lucas. She was a member of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Adult Sunday School class and the WMU. She was retired from Caro-Knit.
Survivors include her sons, Danny Lucas of Clearwater and Tim Lucas of Great Falls; daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Joyce) Newman of Rock Hill and Mrs. Bobby (Nancy) Taylor of Kershaw; brothers, Junior Payne of Hartsville, and William Payne, Jessie Payne and Connie Payne, all of Kershaw; sisters, Mrs. Ollie Mae Bartell and Mrs. Henry (Arlevia) Wallace, both of Kershaw; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Steven Douglas Krees, 35, of South Vicksburg Park Dr., died Thursday, June 26, 1997, in his home.
Private services will be held in Piscataway, NJ.
Steve was born February 22, 1962 in Waterbury, CT. He was the son of the late Stephen and Marie B. Krees. A Charlotte resident for 11 years, he was a self-employed construction contractor.
Survivors include his brother, Brian Krees of Piscataway, NJ; and his grandmother, Ruth Krees of Charlotte.
Arrangements are in the care of Carolina Funeral & Cremation Center.
Mr. Robert Lee Foster, Jr., 61, of Charlotte, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, at Presbyterian Hospital.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 1997, in Charlotte Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 7-9 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel.
Mr. Foster, a native of Charlotte, was retired after 30 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Foster, Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Myrtle C. Foster; daughters, Mary Frances Ford and her husband, Martin Robert Ford, of Spartanburg, SC and Robin Leigh Medlock and her husband, Lanny Joe Medlock, Jr., of Mt. Holly; and his mother, Mrs. Virginia Jones Foster of Charlotte.

Ms. Bonnie Ann Price McCoy, 59, of 6753 Wylie Circle Dr., died June 27, 1997 at Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia.

Born April 24, 1938 in Jefferson, she was a daughter of the late Buddy and Pearl Blackmon Price. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was employed by Springs Industries.
Survivors include her sons, Freddie Rushing and Jackie Rushing, both of Kershaw; daughters, Ms. Joy Ann Gentiles, Miss Missy McCoy and Miss Beth McCoy, all of Kershaw; brother, George Price of Concord, NC; sisters, Mrs. James (Ruth) Roberts of Columbia, and Mrs. Iva Lee Payne, Mrs. Evelyn Harris and Mrs. Luther (Gertrude) Hendrix, all of Kershaw; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Pearl M. Harrison, 92, of Charlotte, died June 27, 1997 at The Oaks in Huntersville, NC.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Harrison will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 30, 1997, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, with the Reverend Glenn Gunter, Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiating. Committal will follow in Evergreen Burial Park, Mint Hill. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harrison was born June 3, 1905 in Union County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Robert McCorkle and Lucinda King McCorkle. She attended the Union County schools, graduating from Mineral Spring High School. Mrs. Harrison worked for Western Union, Efirds Department Store, Lance, Inc., Ivey's and retired from Belk's Department Store.
She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Church Circle and Sunday School Class. Mrs. Harrison was a member of Chantilly Baptist Church for over fifty years before it merged with the Cornerstone Baptist Church. At Chantilly Baptist Church she taught Sunday School for fifty years, played the piano for the youth department and sang in the choir.
Mrs. Harrison was very dedicated to her church and participated in many church activities. Her life revolved around her church, family and friends.
Mrs. Harrison is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Tommye Lou Withrow and her husband, Mack Withrow, of Charlotte; son, Malcolm Rea of Wilmington, NC; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren; brother, Robert McCorkle of Durham, NC; and sister, Virginia Coya of Atlanta, GA.
Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Wesley Harrison, a daughter and two grandchildren.

Mr. Leonard Luther Rhyne, 88, formerly of Clover, died June 28, 1997 at Ebenezer Nursing Home, Rock Hill.

Born August 12, 1908 in Gaston County, NC, he was a son of the late Frank Marsellus and Laura Jane Whitesides Rhyne. A retired farmer, he was a member of the SC Angus Association. He was the widower of Mrs. Lucy Pearson Rhyne and Rose L. Faulkner Rhyne.
Survivors include his son, Richard L. Rhyne of Rock Hill; daughter, Barbara R. Shillinglaw of York; stepdaughter, Sara Priester of Cary, NC; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one step-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty R. Whitesides.

Born in Iredell County, she was a retired librarian with Hanrnett County School System.
Survivors include her brother, Hoyle Setzer of Mooresville; sister, Virgie Setzer of Mooresville; two nieces and one nephew.

Mrs. Barbara R. Porter, 66, of 304 Bancroft Court, Forest Acres, died Friday, June 27, 1997.
Services will be held 12 noon Saturday, July 12, 1997, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
Though born in Laurel, Mississippi, she lived many years in Montgomery, Alabama before moving to Columbia. She was the daughter of the late Nolen, Sr. and Dorothy Jones Reynolds. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
Surviving are her husband, William B. Porter of Forest Acres; daughter, Laura P. Addington of Greenville; son, Dr. Steven B. Porter of Orinda, CA; brother, Nolen B. Reynolds, Jr. of Scaley Mountain, NC; and grandchildren, Caroline Addington and Elizabeth Addington, both of Greenville, and Matthew Porter and Adam Porter, both of Orinda, CA.
