Survivors include her husband, Frank Buchanan, daughter, Dorothy Hood and husband, Henry Hood, niece whom she raised as a daughter, Mary Gray, and brothers, Isaac Gordon and George Gordon, all of Charlotte; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Emory S. Mrs. Dorothy Alice Baucom Broome, 68, of Charlotte died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at her residence.
She was born August 1, 1929, in Monroe, NC, the daughter of the late Dewey Baucom and Ruth Hornback Baucom. She was a member of the Glenwood ARP Church and a graduate of Kings Business College. She retired from the Bailey-Fischer & Porter Co. in Charlotte as an inside sales representative. She devoted her time and life to her grandchildren. They were the ``light of her life".
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 1998, at the Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Freedom Drive, Charlotte. Officiating will be the Rev. Jay Weigel.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Almond, Raymer & McConnell Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC.
Surviving are one son, Mr. Richard Calvin Broome, Jr. of Parker, Colorado; one daughter, Mrs. Dianne Broome Gunter and husband, Doug, of Denver; two sisters, Miss Ann Baucom of Aikens, SC, and Mrs. Mary Lewis of Vohress, NJ.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Chris Gunter and wife, Melissa, Scott Gunter, and Angelia Gunter Strenke and husband, Kevin; great-grandchildren, Lauren Strenke, Brandon Strenke and Chelsea Gunter.

Staff Sgt. Kevin Rudolph Watt (USAF), 29, died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Oson Air Force Base in Oson, South Korea.
He was born August 3, 1968 in Charlotte, NC to James Rudolph Watt and the late Joyce Ross Watt. Immediately upon graduating from East Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem, NC in 1987, Kevin began his career in the U.S. Air Force and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was in the Transportation Division and had been in charge of transportation for Tops In Blue (Air Force Entertainment) on two different occasions. He also served in Desert Storm.
He was predeceased by his mother in 1993 and grandfathers, Graham E. Watt, Sr. and John B. Ross in 1996 and 1997 respectively. Kevin leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Marjoeia Flowers Watt of Las Vegas, NV; father, James Rudolph Watt of Dallas, NC; grandmother, Lucille Foxx Ross of Mt. Holly, NC and grandmother and grandfather, Evelyn and Eddie Herron of Charlotte; and, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His life was based on his love for the U.S. Air Force and his family. This love was exemplified by his commitment to ``do the right thing." His commanding officer in Oson shared that his office had received telephone calls and communiques from around the world inquiring about Kevin's death and to extend condolences. His commanding officer noted that Kevin was a true professional and the high caliber of soldier the military seeks to enlist.
Though halfway around the world, Kevin spoke with his father, grandparents and other family members weekly; checking on them and assuring them that he was okay and that he loved them. He seized every opportunity to tell his family and friends that he loved them.
Kevin was baptized at Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church at an early age and was active in both Mt. Olive and Burge Memorial United Methodist Church in Mt. Holly, where his grandmother lived. He also was involved in community and civic activities when time permitted.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 17, 1998, from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Burge Memorial United Methodist Church, Mt. Holly, NC, with the Rev. Vance Hunt officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 18, 1998, from 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. The family will also receive friends at 5216 Mt. Olive Church Road. Services to celebrate the life of Kevin R. Watt will begin at 2:00 p.m., also at the church. Rev. Herbert R. Shackelford is the pastor and will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Holly, NC.

Mr. John Washington Taylor Jr., 71, of Gastonia and formerly of Charlotte, died April 14, 1998, at the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 1998, in the Hankins & Whittington Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor was born October 2, 1926, in Mecklenburg County, NC, a son of the late John Washington Taylor Sr. and Mary Jane Taylor. A WWII veteran of the US Army, Mr. Taylor was a member of the VFW and American Legion, and owned and operated a waste management company prior to his retirement.
Survivors include his sons, Ricky Taylor of Pageland, SC, Robert Taylor of Anderson, SC, John W. Taylor of York, SC, and Billy Taylor of Gastonia; daughters, Eunice Moore of Charlotte and Teresa T. Lee of Andrews, SC; sisters, Daisy Faulk of Southport and Frances Stamey of Belmont; 16 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Larry B. Terry, 55, of Charlotte, NC, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center of cancer.
Mr. Terry was born July 22, 1942, in Slaton, Texas, son of the late Olin and Audrey Burrell Terry. He was a member of the Blair Road United Methodist Church, graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas with a B.S. and M.B.A. degrees, and was general manager for Oakwood Homes of Charlotte, where he was employed for the past 14 years. Mr. Terry was a U.S. Army veteran.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 1998, at the Blair Road United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ted Troutman and Mr. Bill Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews, NC.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy G. Terry, and 1 son, John Paul Terry, both of Charlotte, NC.
Active pallbearers will be MIke Stidham, Wayne Durham, Billy Cox, Darrell Roberts, Jack Beaty and James Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Lanny Pennington and Bently Paige.

to Patricia Pettit Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds was a professional musician and performed with The Blue Collar Band, Concord, NC.
