Mrs. Mary Lee Freeman Black, 90, of 288 Beason Road, Cliffside, NC, died May 11, 1998, at Woodlands Nursing Center in Rutherfordton, NC.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 1998, at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with the Reverends Steve Chastain and William Stroud officiating. Interment will be in Cliffside Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A native of Rutherford County, NC, Mrs. Black was the daughter of the late Dan and Mattie Toney Freeman and wife of the late Carl Black. A member of Cliffside Baptist Church, she was retired from Cone Mills, Cliffside Plant.
Survivors include a daughter, Laverne (Bud) Hawkins of Cliffside; granddaughters, Phyllis Houser, Karen Beason and Alice McGinnis; and five great-grandchildren.
McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Black.

Miss Monica Supreme Morris, 26, of 1239 Skyview Road, Charlotte, died May 11, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 1998, at New Friendship Presbyterian Church, Huntersville, NC, with the Rev. Lutrelle Rainey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Faye Means, 1239 Skyview Rd.
Monica was born in Queens, NY.
Survivors include her father, Jeff Morris of New York, NY; mother, Mrs. Dannett Allison; son, Dante' Morris; and daughter, Miss Laqueena Morris Allison, all of Charlotte, NC.
Alexander Funeral Home is serving the family of Miss Morris.

Danny J. Stinson, 43, joined his mother, Helen (Jan. 11, 1998) on May 11, 1998.
He was born in Chicago, Ill. and lived most of his life in the Akron area. Danny was instrumental in the formation and operation of The Carroll House, a home for disabled veterans, since Jan. 1998.
Survived by daughter, Crystal, stepson, Ryan, both of Parma; brothers, David (Kathy) of Charleston, SC, Donald (Diana); father, Jackie R., both of Akron; Pam, DJ and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives; friends, Danny Corcoran of Charlotte, NC, Jacko Logan and Thomas Kunkel, both of Akron; very special friend, Jerry Logan of Akron.
Friends may call at the Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd., Akron (phone: 1-330-753-7721), 6-9 p.m. Thursday, where a service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday.
The family suggests memorials to The Carroll House, 617 Carroll St., Akron, OH 44304.

Mrs. Geneva Boles Wrenn Murray, 76, of 707 N. Elm Street, died May 11, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Murray was born June 7, 1921, in Stokes County, NC, a daughter of Claude Lee and Annie Effie Bolejack Boles. She retired from the Y.M.C.A. Coffee Shop in Raleigh before relocating to High Point. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was married icon twice, first to Billy Franklin Wrenn, and second to L.W. Murray who both preceded her in death.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jake (Dixie) Beck of Trinity, NC, Mrs. Billy (JoAnn) Long of High Point, Ms. Dean W. Morris of Charlotte, Ms. Marie Wrenn Bass of Benson; two sons, Eli Franklin Wrenn and wife, Cindy of High Point, Claude Lee Wrenn and wife, Cathy of Raleigh; and one stepson, Wilbur Murray and wife, Ann of Raleigh; one brother, Raymond T. Boles of High Point; twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Sechrest Chapel in Archdale by the Rev. Billy Long. Burial will be in Oakwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Green Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 303 Rotary Drive, High Point, NC 27262, or to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Vivian Ruth Strickland, 80, of Charlotte died Monday, May 11, 1998 at Carolinas Medical Center.
Mrs. Strickland was born in Highland Park, Michigan and was raised by Dr. & Mrs. Lester Todd in Charlotte from the time she was six years old. She attended Queens College and was the wife of the late Robert L. Strickland who died in 1993. She was a Charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and was employed as a medical receptionist by Todd & Taylor Allergies.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Anne S. McQuiston and Judy S. Leftwich, both of Charlotte; grandchildren, Warren McQuiston, Peter McQuiston, Mariruth Leftwich and Alicia Leftwich, all of Charlotte; cousins, Mrs. Frankie Alexander, of Charlotte, Mrs. Brenda Stryzko, of Snellville, GA and Les Todd, of Pierson, FL.
Graveside service will be 10:00a.m., Thursday at Forest Lawn West Cemetery followed by a Memorial service at 11:00a.m. at the Morrison Chapel of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 East Morehead St. with the Reverend Dr. John B. Rogers, Jr. and Reverend Frank B. Mayes officiating. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:30p.m., Wednesday at Harry & Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 1320 North Caldwell St., Charlotte, NC 28206 or Family Support Center, P.O. Box 35458, Charlotte, NC 28235. Harry & Bryant Company is serving the family of Mrs. Strickland.

Mr. Joseph V. Teresi, Jr., 82, of Charlotte, NC, died May 11, 1998 at Presbyterian Hospital.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 1998 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with Father Tom Meehan officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel.
Mr. Teresi was born November 13, 1915 in Independence, Louisiana, the son of Joseph V. Teresi and Mary Etta Alessi Teresi. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Teresi was a retired maintenance worker from Warner-Lambert Inc. and Dupont Co.
Mr. Teresi is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Josephine Zaffram Teresi; daughters, Gerrie T. Thompson and husband, Thomas and Donna Slisz and husband, Darrell of East Amherst, NY; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and sisters, Josie Cardova, Bertha Teresi and Mary Viola, all of Buffalo, NY.
The family requests that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, 3420 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215.
McEwen Mint Hill Chapel is serving the Teresi Family.

Pastor Kenneth Harding, 75, died May 11, 1998 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church with elders Ken Coonley, President of Carolina Conference of Seventh Day Adventist, David Dobias and Don Kenyon, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Thursday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel.
Pastor Harding was born June 6, 1922 in England, son of the late Sidney and Lilly Harding, was a member and adult teacher of The Sabbath School at Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church and Religious LIberty Director. He served in the British Royal Air Force during WWII, graduate with a Bachelor's Degree from Southern University in Chattanooga, Tenn., received a Master of Divinity from Andrews University Seminary in Berrien Springs, Mich. Pastor Harding was a retired Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and had served in Tennessee, Georgia, New York and had served as the President of the Seventh Day Adventist Mission in Iran.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Mae Bell Harding and is survived by his present wife, Meta Bass Harding; his children and their spouses, Kenneth G. Harding and Brian R. Harding of Charlotte and John R. Harding of Apopka, Fla., brother, Lindsay Harding of Newbury, England, six grandchildren, Beth Harding Jeffers of Gainsville, Fla., Emily Harding of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Gregory and Katherine Harding of Charlotte, Stephanie and Julie Harding of Apopka, Fla.; step-son, Bill Bass of Mooresville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Pastor Harding's name may be made to the Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church Property Fund, 920 N. Sharon Amity Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211.
Pastor Harding will be taken from the McEwen Charlotte Chapel to the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.

Mr. Roy Frazier Mitchell, 60, of 800-4 Margrace Road, died May 12, 1998 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Caretta, West Virginia, son of the late Byrd and Mary Rose Mitchell, served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, was preceded in death by 2 daughters, 4 brothers, and 5 sister, and was retired from Pharr Yarns.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Rhinehart Mitchell; 7 sons, Curtis Lamar Mitchell of Gastonia, Kevin Mitchell of Kings Mountain, Nathan Mitchell of Dallas, Gary Ray Mitchell of Berwind, West Va., Franklin Mitchell of Caretta, West, Va.; 2 daughters, Tina Perkins and Mary Mitchell, both of War, West Va.; brothers, Rev. Ovie Mitchell of Kendaville, Indiana, Stuart Mitchell of Wolcottville, Indiana, and Sonny Mitchell of Berwind, West Va.; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services conducted by the Revs. Ovie Mitchell and Sam Vickers will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Louis Neal Crouse, 80, of Charlotte, died May 11, 1998 at the Carolinas Medical Center after an extended illness.
A celebration of Mr. Crouse's life will take place on Thursday, May 14, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Whitehead, NC. Burial will follow in the Crouse Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home, Grandview Drive, Sparta, NC.
Mr. Crouse is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Peter Hubicki, his granddaughter, Katie Hubicki, of Charlotte, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Smith and Mrs. Leora Wyatt, of Sparta. Numerous nieces and nephews survive him, as well.
Mr. Crouse was born March 29, 1918 on a farm in Sparta, NC, to the late Kenneth Malcolm and Wadie Alice Osborne Crouse. He was the seventh of nine children.
Early in life he developed a passion for traditional mountain music. He loved the fiddle, playing it himself as long as he was able, and enjoying the playing of others when he was disabled.
He served in the U.S. Army throughout World War II. With the 12th Field Artillery Battalion, he landed on Omaha Beach at Normandy on June 9, 1944 and fought in campaigns in France, Germany and Central Europe. Honorably discharged in 1945, he returned to Sparta.
He married icon Beulah Mae Evans on July 3, 1946 and they moved to Maryland where they raised one daughter. He was a campus policeman at American University, Washington, D.C., whereby he was able to provide a college education for his child.
He and Beulah returned to Sparta, NC in 1972, where they were members of Liberty Baptist Church.
After Beulah's death in 1991, Mr. Crouse made his home with his daughter's family in Charlotte. He shared with them his capacity for his life's special joys: Katie, fiddle music, baseball, wild birds. He shared his appreciation of life's beauties: the glory of a new morning, the Charlotte skyline, a lovely woman's face.
His family will deeply miss the warmth and animation of his smile and the way his smile extended into his lively, expressive blue eyes. They rejoice in his resurrection to wholeness and a new life in Christ.

Joshua Aaron Livingston, 18, died May 12, 1998.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 15, 1998, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5815 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC. Bishop Dwayne Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brian Livingston, John Boshears, Shane Boshears, Matt King, Devon Chafer, Robert Porter. Committal will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery. The family will receive friends, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 1998 at McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
Joshua was born December 26, 1979, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Kerry and Donna Porter; his father and step-mother, Steve and Patricia Livingston; brothers, Brian Livingstone, Michael Porter; sisters, Sarah Livingstone, Heather Porter, Katie Porter, Kylie Porter, Beth Wilburn, Lee Leclair; grandparents, Mildred and Floyd Boshears, Billie and Joe Sikes; aunts, Susan Crump, Peggy Burg, Beverly Phillips, Freda Canty, Paula Blue, Mary Mendenhall, Tammy Boshears, Janet Boshears; uncles, John Boshears, Jeff Crump, Roger Boshears, Kevin Porter, Robert Porter, Jim Burg, David Porter; a host of cousins, and other friends and loved ones.
McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Livingstone.

Alma Price Gantt, 76, died at her home May 11, 1998, after an extended illness. A native of Statesville, North Carolina, Mrs. Gantt was born August 8, 1921 to the late Talmadge and Anna Fleet Price.
Survivors include Robert B. Gantt, her husband of 56 years; children, Shelia Kale and her husband, Ted, of Charlotte, Bobbi Whitfield and her husband, Paul of Charlotte, Greg Gantt and his wife, Polly, of Greenville, South Carolina; sisters, Velna Heath of Statesville; and grandchildren, Charles, Robert, Lisa, Chris, Matthew and Elizabeth.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 1998 at the Hankins & Whittington Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Steve Jirgal officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1300 Baxter Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
