Mrs. Reta L. Booth, of 6807 Rambling Rose Drive, Charlotte, NC died on Friday, August 4, 2000 at Carolinas Medical Center.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at 7:00 PM at Zion Shiloh Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. Interment will follow on Thursday, August 10, in the National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9, 2000 from 2 to 6 PM at the church.

Mrs. Booth attended New York City Schools and graduated from Clara Barton High School. She was a member of Refuge Church of Christ in Brooklyn, N.Y. and later a partaker of New Life Fellowship. She was very active in the Brooklyn Community.

Survivors: husband, Robert F. Booth, Sr., daughter, Millicent Booth, both of Charlotte, NC; sons, Norman Booth of Schnectady, N.Y.; Robert Booth, Jr. and Terrence Booth, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; grandsons, Dayron and Trevor Booth, Jason Graham, all of Charlotte; Ta'Sean, Terrence, Terrick, Xavier, Jachai Booth, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; granddaughters, Janay, Zuleka, Denise and Normae Booth, all of Brooklyn; and Shanta' Keyes of Charlotte; nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Grier Funeral Service is in charge of local arrangements.

Clinton, Margaret G.
Mrs. Margaret G. Clinton, age 51 of 1931 Mereview Ct., Apt. 46, Charlotte, N.C. died Saturday, August 5, 2000 at Presbyterian Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6516 Old Pineville Rd., Charlotte, N.C. with Robert Porterfield officiating. Burial at York Memorial, Charlotte, N.C

Mrs. Clinton was born in Pineville, N.C. She worked for BellSouth as a Special Assistant.

She is survived by her spouse, Franklin Louis Clinton of Charlotte; sons, Larry Carruthers, Kevin Carrthers, Corey Carruthers, all of Charlotte, ; daughter Miss Darlene Partlow Watson of Charlotte; brothers, Jeffery Jones, Vernon Partlow Jr., Broderick Partlow, all of Charlotte; sisters, Minnie Faye Partlow, Charlene Jones, Teena Alston, Jeanette Partlow, Georgia Partlow, Angie Barkley, Amanda Moffet, all of Charlotte; grandmother, Ola Mae Jones; and grandchild Master Jalen Maxwell, both of Charlotte.

Alexander Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Johnson, Eleanor Louise
Mrs. Eleanor Louise Johnson, 79, died Mon., Aug. 7, 2000 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Alexander Funeral Home is in charge.

Jones, Clifton Ray
Clifton Ray Jones, 58, of Charlotte died Sunday, August 6, 2000 at Carolinas Medical Center.

Mr. Jones was born March 15, 1942 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late Henry Lee and Callie C. Jones.

A memorial service will be held today, Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at 4:00 at Glenwood ARP Church with the Rev. Jay Weigel officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 to 4:00 prior to service time.

Survivors are his wife, Patricia Ann Jones of Charlotte; children, Danny Jones of Tampa, Florida, Donny Jones, Martin Jones, Teresa Turner, Tammy Fox and Billy Ingram, all of Charlotte, Shawn Eury of Spartanburg, SC; 11 grandchildren; and special nephews, Dean, Bryan, Michael and niece, Brandy.

Memorials may be made to Glenwood ARP Church, 5024 Freedon Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208.

Lowery, Lettie Mae Corry
Mrs. Lettie Mae Corry Lowery, age 74, of 1608 Pegram Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, widow of Theodore "Sam" Lowery, died Thursday after August 3rd in the White Oak Manor at Charlotte, N.C.

A native of Blacksburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry James "Son" Corry and the late Viola Thompson Corry. She was a retired employee of Hills Heaven Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church of Charlotte.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sheree Adams of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Terrance Allen Lowery of Charlotte, NC and Bernard Lowery of Gaffney; one sister, Ms. Perniece Corry of Gaffney; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon with her brother, Hayward Corry at 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church with the pastor, Dr. J.W. Sanders, Sr., Dr. Gregory Moss and Rev. Larry J. Brooks officiating.

Double interment will follow in Limestone Cemetery.

She will lie in state at Bethel Baptist Church on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church.

Foster Funeral Home of Gaffney is in charge of arrangements.

Simmons, Kelly Leigh Spradling
Mrs. Kelly Leigh Spradling Simmons, 39, died Sunday, August 6, 2000 in the Harris Hospice Unit of Presbyterian Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Andrew M. Smith and Reverend Drew Smith officiating. Private interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel.

A memorial service will also be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 11 at Riverlawn Presbyterian Church in St. Albans, WV.

Born March 8, 1961 in South Charleston, West Virginia, Kelly was employed as a research nurse with Bennett Cardiac Center. She received an Associate Degree in Industrial Psychology from Fairmont State College in Fairmont, West Virginia and futhered her education at the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia where she received her degree in nursing.

Kelly was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband Chip Simmons; her daughter, Chloe Madison Simmons, age 9; and son, Logan Andrew Simmons, age 7.

She is also survived by her parents, H. Alan Spradling and Ruth Hall Spradling of St. Albans, WV; a brother, Andy Spradling, and his wife, Myssy, of Nitro WV; her grandparents, Owen and Betty Spradling of St. Albans, WV; and a nephew, Evan Kelly Spradling.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy Hall and Clara Hall Mullins of South Charleston, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 97100, Dallas, TX 75397.

Kelly enjoyed te support and love of her many friends.

Arrangements are in the care of Hankins and Whittington, Dilworth Chapel, 1111 East Blvd., in Charlotte.

Thompson, Idell M.
Mrs. Idell M. Thompson, 76, of Mint Hill died August 7, 2000 at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, with Reverends Buddy Pigg, Neal Lickliter and Lawrence Funderburk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Tuesday at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Stanly County, NC, daughter of the late Croson Cleveland and Nannie Russell Mauldin; was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church; friendly Bible Class; Good Timers; was a former teacher of Children's Sunday School; graduate of Albemarle High School; 1948 graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and had worked in the Surgical Department of the hospital.

Surviving are daughter, Sherry T. Henderson and husband, Doug of Mint Hill; grandson, Paul Douglas Henderson and granddaughter, Jennifer Leah Henderson; sisters, Hazel Stokley and husband, Ed of Dunedin, FL, Gwen McAllister of Greenville, SC, Bobbie Rabon and husband, James of Leesville, SC and Jane Talbert of Albemarle, NC; brother, Russell Mauldin and wife, Alma of Albemarle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Josephine Mullis and Jerry and Shirley Thompson, all of Matthews, David and Elizabeth Thompson of Mint Hill, James and Betty Connell of Mint Hill, Dot Ritchie and Catherine Garmon of Charlotte and Macie and Jake Doares of Gastonia; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Thompson and a daughter, Karen Thompson.

She will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and for her strong faith in God.

Honorary pallbearers will be The Friendly Bible Class.

Memorials may be made to The Building Fund of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, 2817 Mt. Harmony Rd., Matthews, NC 28105; or Presbyterian Hospice Home Care, 217 Travis Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204.

Tolentino, Orlando M.
Orlando M. Tolentino, 61, of Charlotte died Sunday, August 6, 2000 at Mercy South Hospital.

A Mass of Resurrection will be conducted 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 10, 2000 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, with The Reverend Richard Bellow, Celebrant.

Born May 18, 1939 in the Philippines, Mr. Tolentino was a son of the late Protacio and Modesta Manalo Tolentino. He entered the seminary in his native country, before deciding to join the Philippine Air Force. While in the Air Force he studied to become a teacher. He taught English after leaving the service and was employed as an Electrical Engineer at Planters Products. In 1988 he immigrated to the United States and began working at South Park Mall in Charlotte as an Electrical Engineer. He was a very gentle and loving man who will be remembered for his humility.

Mr. Tolentino is survived by his wife, Violeta G. Tolentino; four children, Joe Tolentino, Jet Tolentino, Jo Kocak and Jhie Hubbard; three grandchildren, Jonald Tolentino, Andrew Kocak and Michael Kocak, all of Charlotte. He is also survived by four sisters, three brothers and numerous nieces and nephews as well as his pet, Iggy.

The family request that memorials be given to The American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead Street, Ste. 211, Charlotte, NC 28202.

Worsham, Annyce Leigh
ALBEMARLE - Miss Annyce Leigh Worsham died August 6, 2000. A graveside service will be 11am Wednesday at Ruffin Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30pm tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle Chapel.

E. Burney Chappell Jr.
ALLENDALE - E. Burney Chappell Jr., husband of Mary Watkins Chappell, died Satruday morning at his residence. He was 67.

Mr. Chappell was born in Candor, NC, May 9, 1933 a son of the late Edgar Burney Chappell Sr., and Ruth Elizabeth Dawkins Chappell. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Swallow Savannah United Methodist Church.

He was a chairman of the F.S.A. in Allendale, and Executive Vice President of the S.C. Peach Council. He was a member of the American Legion #36, and was a honorary Colonel in the Confederate Air Force, N.C. Wing. Mr. Chappell was also a life member of the sons of Confederate Veterans.

Surviving, besides his wife of Allendale are: 4 daughters, Tina Jarvis of Summerville, Jill Chappell-Fail of Swansee, Jane Davis, of Barnwell, and Jeanie Gour, of Charleston; 2 brothers, Dale Chappell, of San Rafal, Cal. and James Chappell, of Candor, NC. There are 6 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 in the Chapel of Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home of Allendale.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Alendale Rescue Squad.

Smith-Rhoden F.H. of Allendale is in charge of arrangements.
