Crooke, Mary Craig
LOWELL - Mary Craig Crooke, 72, of 310 East First St., died Friday, August 4, 2000 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Crooke was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Alfred C. and Maryella Catherine Jarrett Craig. She was a Charter Member of The Presbyterian Church of Lowell and was retired from Dillard's Department Stores.

Survivors include her son, Paul Crooke of Lowell; daughters, Beth Crooke of Rock Hill, Susan Craig Crooke of Gastonia; sister, Barbara C. Mills of Lowell; granddaughter, Sarah Kathleen Hadloc of Gastonia.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at 4:00 PM at The Presbyterian Church of Lowell. The Rev. Tim Arnold officiated.

McLean Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.

Little, William "Bill"
MARSHVILLE - Mr. William "Bill" Little, 74, of Marshville, NC died August 7, 2000 at Union Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, August 10, 2000 at Union Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. John Green & Rev. Jimmy Tarlton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Little was a native of Union, Co., NC, son of the late Robert C. & Rena Gaddy Little. He was a retired, self-employed Truck Driver.

Survivors include his wife, Aileen Snyder Little; son, Mike Little of Marshville; sister, Betty Larkin of Charlotte; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the Little family.

Morgan, Jack O.
MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Jack O. Morgan, Jr., 76, of 247 Knollcrest Dr., Mocksville, NC, died August 8, 2000. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wilkinson Funeral Home.

Abernathy, Annie Curtis
MORGANTON - Annie Curtis Abernathy, 82, died August 7. The funeral is Wednesday, 11am, at Sossoman Funeral Home Chapel, burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral Home. Arrangements by Sossoman.

Cox, Myrtle Crites
MT. HOLLY - Myrtle Crites Cox, 86, of 820 S. Main St., and formerly of 720 Groves St., Lowell, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at home.

A native of Caldwell Co., she was daughter of the late Edgar Filmore and Etta Tolbert Crites. She was wife of the late J. Coit Cox and grandmother of the late Jamie Moss. She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Lowell. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Cox was a very gently, caring wife and mother who devoted her life to her children. Consequently, she instilled in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren a strong sense of pride, love and closeness of family. She was well known for her knowledge of flowers and her skills in gardening. Her genteel and unselfish manner was apparent to those who were priviledged to know her.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Vardon & Merry Cox of Due West, SC; daughter and sons in law, Kathryn C. & Don Hoffman of Rock Hill, SC, Jo Rita C. & George Perry of Heathsville, Va., Ceil Cox & Dave Fletcher of Mt. Holly and Dorcas C. Moss of Gastonia; 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM, Thursday, August 10, 2000 at Presbyterian Church of Lowell. Revs. Fred Murphy and Hunter Roddey will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Cox's Grandsons.

Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 at McLean Funeral Directors and other times at her daughter's home, 820 S. Main St., Mt. Holly.

Stack, Mack Lee
MT. HOLLY - Mack Lee Stack, 75, died August 7. The service was Tuesday, 4pm, at Carothers Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Gardens. Visitation was at the funeral home prior to the service. Carothers Funeral Home is in charge.

McClary, Dorthy Mae "Dotty"
MYRTLE BEACH - Dorthy Mae "Dotty" McClary, 87, died August 7, 2000 at the Myrtle Beach Manor.

She was born November 9, 1912 in Maband, TX, a daughter of the late William Frederick and Marian Elizabeth Cornelius Zinnecker.

In 1986, Mrs. McClary moved from Fulton, MO to Charlotte, NC. In 1996 she moved to Myrtle Beach. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fulton and Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. She taught hearing impaired children at the Missouri School for the Deaf. Her late husband, Joseph Edward McClary, who died in 1986, was a professor at Westminster College in Fulton.

Survivors include a son, E. Blain McClary of Pawleys Island, SC; a daughter, Cynthia McClary Dunzweiler of Darnestown, MD; a sister, Fern Collins of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In 1959, she was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Claire McClary.

A graveside service will be held in fulton at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 12 in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

McMillan-Small Funeral Home of Myrtle Beach, SC, is in charge of arrangements.

Huneycutt, Dwight Wesley
NEW LONDON - Mr. Dwight Wesley Huneycutt, 70, of 36478 Azalea Ct. died Aug. 8, 2000, at his home.

Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Albemarle with Rev. Jeffery Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle.

Mr. Huneycutt was born in Stanly County. He was a retired sales representative with Matco Tool Co.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Stone Huneycutt of the home; sons, Doug Huneycutt of Kannapolis and Graham Huneycutt of New London; brother, Joe D. Huneycutt of New London; and granddaughters, Madison, MacKenzie and Carlyle Huneycutt.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. 1st St., Albemarle, NC 28001; or United Methodist Church, 2411 U.S. Hwy 52 N., Albemarle, NC 28001.

Smith, Frederick Lane
NEW LONDON - Mr. Frederick Lane Smith, 57, died August 4. The funeral is Thursday, 4pm, at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, burial is in Stanly Gardens of Memory. Visitation is Wednesday, 7-9pm, at Hartsell Funeral Home.

Thomas, Elsie M.
PINEHURST - Mrs. Elsie M. Thomas, 72, died Aug. 4, 2000. Funeral 3pm Thursday at St. Stevens Baptist Church, Rockingham. Burial in church cemetery. Visitation 7-9pm tonight at Nelson Funeral home.

Barnette, Nancy Jean Hargreaves
RICHBURG - Mrs. Nancy Jean Hargreaves Barnette, age 38, of Richburg, SC, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at her home.

Born June 4, 1964 in West Islip, NY, she was daughter of Peggy Knause Bassett and the late Chester Hargreaves. Mrs. Barnette graduated fro Olympic High School in Charlotte, NC in 1980. She was employed with Alligiance Food Brokerage of Charlotte, NC where she had many special friends and co-workers. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Richburg, Sc.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2000 at Cathedral of the Cross Church, 13925 Irwin Road Charlotte, NC with Rev. Curtis Cameron and Rev. Richard Hamm officiating.

Mrs. Barnette is survived by her husband, Clyde Barnette of the home; her sons Aaron and Alec Barnette of the home; her parents, Peggy and Jack Bassett of Fort Mill, SC; one brother, Tim Hargreaves of Concord, NH; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betsy and David Allbee of Blacksburg, VA and Pamela and Dan Sherer of Rock Hill, SC; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jakie and Mike Whitten of Pelion, SC.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2000 at First Baptist Church in Richburg, SC and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead Street, Suite 211, Charlotte, NC 28202 or to the Youth Building Fund, First Baptist Church, PO Box 46, Chester, SC 29706.

ROCK HILL - Mr. John Robert Munchick, 60, died Sun., Aug. 6, 2000. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Sat., Aug. 12, 2000 Powhatan Cem., Powhatan Pt., Ohio. Visitation 7-9 PM Wed. at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel.

ROCKINGHAM - Louie Bliss Hunt, 88, died August 4, 2000. A Celebration of Life Service will be August 13, 2000 at 7:00 PM at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Carter Funeral Home is serving the Hunt family.

ROCKINGHAM - Charlie Martin, 92, died August 7, 2000. Funeral 4pm Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Burial, Eastside Cemetery. Watson-King Funeral Home is serving the Martin family.

Langston, Mary Lou "Lukie" McMurry
SHELBY - Mrs. Mary Lou "Lukie" McMurry Langston died August 7, 2000. Funeral 4pm Thursday, Lafayette St. United Methodist Church. Burial, Cleveland Mem. Park. Vstn 6:30-8pm tonight at Cleveland funeral service.

Jackson, Raymond Andre'
STATESVILLE - Mr. Raymond Andre' Jackson, 40, of 719 Caldwell Street, died at Iredell Memorial Hospital on Sunday, August 6, 2000. He was born in Iredell County on August 13, 1959 and was reared in the home of his loving grandparents, Mrs. Ilean Jackson and the late Rev. A.L. Jackson. He was married to Peggy Lee Jackson, who survives.

He was educated in the North Mecklenburg High School of Charlotte and St. Augustine College in Raleigh. He was a member of Davisville Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee.

Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Ms. Andrea Jackson of the home and Ms. Tiffany Jones of Tacoma, Washington; one stepson, Mr. Shahide Williams, of the home; his parents, Mrs. Ethel Kerns and Rev. Lawrence Kerns, Jr. of Davidson; his biological father, Mr. Luther Acher of Charlotte; his grandmother, Mrs. Ilean Jackson of Davidson; two brothers, Lawrence S. Kerns (Rose) of Statesville and Dannie J. Kerns (Vicky) of Sumpter, SC; two sisters, Cynthia Middlebrooks (Stanley) of Davidson and Ursula A. Kerns of Davidson; two cousins, who were raised in the home; Frankie Jackson of Davidson and Etolia Terry (James) of Concord; two uncles, L.C. Jackson of Davidson and Odell Jackson of Charlotte; three aunts, Ms. Mattie Fletcher of Davidson, Mrs. Edie Thompson and Mrs. Ivery Paul, both of Anderson, SC; two grandchildren of Tacoma, Washington; one great aunt; four great uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 10, 2000 at 2:00 PM at The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Rev. Wheeler will officiate and Rev. Lawrence Kerns will eulogize. Burial will follow in the veterans Section of Belmont Cemetery.

The body will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until 2:00 Pm (thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour), but will assemble at the residence at other times.

Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home is serving the Jackson family.

Sundman, William Oscar
STATESVILLE - William Oscar Sundman, 86, died August 6. The funeral is Thursday, 2pm, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, interment is at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, 7-8:30pm at Bunch-Johnson, also in charge.

Rogers, Jason Doyle
WADESBORO - Mr. Jason Doyle Rogers, 74, of Port Saint Lucie, FL, formerly of Wadesboro died Tuesday, August 1, 2000 in Florida.

A son of the late James Cecil and Clarissa Jean Barnett Rogers, he was a retired Navy CPO and a veteran of World War II.

Services for Mr. Rogers will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 by the graveside in Long Pine United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Milton (Buddy) Rogers of Pensacola, FL, Mrs. Marian Cresswell of Charlotte, Mrs. Doris Cartwright of Beaufort, SC and Mrs. Barbara Knight of Charleston, SC; his half-brother and sisters, Richard Rogers of Canton, GA, Mrs. Mary Ella Hutchinson of Greenville and Mrs. Sandra Martin of Liberty; and his companion, Ms. Elizabeth Miller.

The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
