Roecklein, Alfred Howard
LANCASTER - Mr. Alfred Howard Roecklein, age 91, of 836 S. Potter Road, died Wednesday evening, January 24, 2001 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born September 7, 1909 in Kingston, NY, the son of the late Mr. John J. Roecklein and Mrs. Christina Bader Roecklein and was the widow of Mrs. Anna Marie Neppell Roecklein. Mr. Roecklein was a retired Business Manager for William Floyd School District in Mastic Beach, NY, a Mason of 60 years and a member of Reformation Lutheran Church.
Mr. Roecklein is survived by his son, Mr. Alan Roecklein of Rockville, Maryland, his daughter, Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Heins of Lancaster, 9 grandchildren, Elaine, Bryan, Alan, Kathryn and Anne Roecklein, Edward Heins III, Ellen Ash, Erick Heins, Elissa Starnes, and 11 great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Jaime, Elisha, and Abigail Heins, Michelle and Courtney Heins, Corrie, Matthew and Brett Ash, Steven Franke and Devin Starnes, and 1 great-great grandchild, Zachery Heins-Grathwohl.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Roecklein will be 11:00 am Saturday morning, January 27, 2001 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Joe Bailey.
Mr. Roecklein will be cremated and interred at Beverly Hills Memorial Garden in Beverly Hills, Florida at a later date.
The Family of Mr. Roecklein will be at his home, 836 S. Potter Road, and in lieu of flowers suggest memorial contributions to Reformation Lutheran Church, Community Meditation Garden, PO Box 26, Lancaster, SC 29721.

Jones, Anne McFarland
LAURINBURG - Anne McFarland Jones, 69, of 8303 McQueen Rd., died Wednesday at her home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church with Dr. Nick Mager officiating and Monday at 2:00 PM in the Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church.
Born October 30, 1931 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late James Edgar and Lucille Callahan McFarland. Her husband Robert "PeeWee" Jones, Sr. preceded her in death.
A member and deacon of the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, Anne attended Queens College. Her life was one of service, which included volunteering for Hospice of Scotland County and other areas. She was the organizer and first director of the Marlboro County Recreation Department.
She is survived by four sons; Alex Jones, Ed Jones and Gib Jones all of Laurinburg and pat Jones of Greenville, NC; two brothers, Ed McFarland of Asheville and Jim McFarland of Columbia, SC. Eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive her.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Friday at the family home in Hasty, NC.

LOWELL - Mrs. Grace Nicholson Roberts, 67, of 211 N. Pine Street, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at home.
She was a native of Clarksville, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Emory & Alice Jarrell Nicholson and wife of the late John "Howard" Roberts. She was a hairdresser for many years and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law: Sandra R. & Mike Butler of Gastonia; Granddaughter: Amy Bulter of Wilmington; Sisters, Helen Holt of Kings Mountain and Kathryn James of Cornelia, GA; Special Niece, Pam Goforth of Kings Mountain; Caretakers, Carol Moore and Pat Badger.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 26, 2001 at Gaston Memorial Park. Reverend Ned Buckner will officiate.

Born in Union County, NC, Mrs. Nelson was an 8th Grade Teacher at Monroe Middle School.

Johnston, Nesbit
MOORESVILLE - Nesbit Johnston, 89, of Decatur, GA, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at Highland-Cashiers Hospital, Highland, NC. Born on May 21, 1911, in Mooresville, NC, he was a son of the late Cyrus Robert and Nannie Lee Kerr Nesbit Johnston. Mr. Johnston was a 1932 graduate of Davidson College. He was retired regional marketing manager for Ciba-Geigy, having 40 years of service. Mr. Johnston was a member of Decatur Presbyterian Church, Decatur, GA, where he was a former member of the Pastor's Aid and former President of the Men's Sunday School class. He was a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club and had been active in the Quarter Century Club of Ciba-Geigy. Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth McKnight Johnston; brother, Cyrus Robert Johnston, Jr.; and sisters, Mary Frances Johnston Archer and Isabel Johnston Tarrh.
He is survived by his children, Ann Johnston Scott and husband, Joe of Cullowhee, NC; and Robert McKnight Johnston and wife, Celeste of Atlanta, GA; sister, Helen Johnston Fridell of Charlotte; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, January 28, 2001 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel, Mooresville, NC with Rev. Gerald R. Hallman officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Valley Cemetery, Mooresville, NC. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Mr. Raco was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy. His parents were the late Giuseppi and Mariantonia Armeni Raco. He was married to the late Lucille Calciano Raco. He had retired as Assistant Chief Quality Control Officer & Statistical Analyst for Defense Clothing and Supply Co. of PA. He was former President of Italian-American Club of Pennsauken, NJ and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Maple Shade, NJ.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Dominic and a granddaughter and husband Debbie and Wayne Hurst.
Survivors are his son and wife Joseph D. Raco and Emma of Paradise, California; daughter, Barbara White and husband Loy of Shelby, NC; sister, Lee Miller of Sea Isle City, NJ; sister-in-law, Marie Raco of Ventnor, NJ. Grandchildren Joseph D. Raco Jr. and wife Ellen of CA; John Raco of CA; Billy White, Joe White, and Jeff White, all of the home; Linda Scabrook and husband Reese of Texas, David Raco-Hurst of CA; great grandchild Christine Raco of CA.
