CLOVER - Mrs. Margaret Davidson Moss, age 92, died January 27, 2001 at White Oak Manor, York, SC. She was born July 5, 1908 in York County, SC, the daughter of the late Oliver West Davidson and Della Wood Davidson.

Survivors are, daughter, Mae Moss Davis, Clover, SC; one brother, Lindsay C. Davidson, Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Mildred D. Craig, Clinton, SC and Sara D. Maxwell, Hickory, NC; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

funeral service will be 3 p.m. today, January 28, 2001 at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rick Lindsay. Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to White Oak Manor, PO Box 629, York, SC 29745 or Scherer Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4800 Charlotte Hwy., Lake Wylie, SC 29710.

Yount, Willie Marie Baker
CONOVER - Mrs. Willie Marie Baker Yount, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church. The casket will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Giles, Loman
CRAMERTON - Mr. Loman Giles, 79, of 70 Fourth Street, died Saturday January 27, 2001 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.

Burns, Kenneth Levi
ELLENBORO - Mr. Kenneth Levi Burns, 65, of Ellenboro, NC died Friday, January 26, 2001 at Lincoln County Hospital.

He was a native of Rutherford County, son of the late Clarence L. and Nannie Mae Helton Burns. He was retired from Duke Power Co. with 25 years service and served in the U.S. Army twelve years.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Street Burns, two sons, Kenny Burns of Ellenboro and David Burns of Shelby; one brother, James Burns of Ellenboro; one sister, Martha Freeman of Ellenboro.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the service.

Hawfield, Paul Jackson `Jack'
FORT MILL - Mr. Paul Jackson `Jack' Hawfield, Sr. age 85, of 2415 Finchley Drive, Charlotte, NC, died January 26, 2001 at his home.

A son of the late James Charleston Hawfield and Margaret Pearl Garrison Hawfield, Mr. Hawfield was born October 19, 1915 in Lancaster, SC. He graduated from Indian Land High School. Mr. Hawfield served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a 1st Sergeant at Pearl Harbor. Mr. Hawfield worked in landscaping and the tire industry and owned Armor Tread Tire Company of Charlotte.

Graveside Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2001 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hawfield is survived by his wife, Mary Drew Hawfield; his sons, Paul Jackson Hawfield, Jr. and Stephen Douglas Hawfield; his daughter, Margaret Hawfield Fenn; grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Fenn, Ryan Franklin Fenn, Karin Jo Caterson, Joshua Adam Hawfield, and Jonathan Luke Hawfield and Steven Links; and a great granddaughter, Cara Caterson, all of Charlotte, NC.

Wolfe Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Hawfield.

GRANITE FALLS - Mrs. Jewel Carter Brooks, 87, died January 27, 2001. Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Wells, J. Frank
HENRIETTA - Mr. J. Frank Wells, Sr., 80, died Friday, January 26, 2001 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby, NC. He was a native of Rutherford County, NC and the son of the late J.D. & Cleo Butler Wells. He was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church, a World War II Army Veteran. He was the former part owner of J.D. Wells & Sons Super Market.

Funeral will be 3 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2001 at Avondale United Methodist Church by the Rev. Anthony Moore and the Rev. William Stroud. Burial will be in Cool Springs Cemetery, Forest City, NC. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service.

Survivors include wife, Margueritte McCardwell Wells; son, Dr. Frank Wells, Jr., Kinston, NC; daughter & son-in-law, Susan & David Cox, Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Robert R. Wells, Shelby, NC, Lawrence W. Wells & J.D. (Sonny) Wells, Jr. both of Henrietta, NC; sisters, Mrs. Lula Miller, Hendersonville, NC, Mr. Ruby Upchurch, Cherryville, NC; grandchildren, Margueritte Cox, Jonathan Wells, Joseph Wells.

Abee, Wade Pinkey
HICKORY - Wade Pinkey Abee, 81, died Jan. 27, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Monday at Catawba Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is 12:30-2 p.m. Monday at Catawba Funeral Home.

Wiseman, Mrs. Ethelda `Miss' Lineberger
KANNAPOLIS - Mrs. Ethelda `Miss' Lineberger Wiseman, 92, died Jan. 26, 2001. Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is 5-6:30 p.m. tonight at Lady's Funeral Home.

Blackmon, James Clyde
LANCASTER - Mr. James Clyde Blackmon, Sr., 68, of 3030 Ridgewood Acres Road, Lancaster, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2001 at his home. He was born April 17, 1932, in Lancaster, a son of the late Rev. H. Lee Blackmon and Mrs. Arlevia Privette Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran and was retired from Springs Industries.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 29, 2000 at 2 p.m. from the Victory Baptist Church by the Rev. Eddie Usher, the Rev. Allen Brazell and the Rev. Tommy Brazell. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mr. Blackmon is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Hancock Blackmon; three daughters, Mrs. Julie Blackmon Usher and her husband Eddie, Mrs. Sharon Blackmon Johnson and her husband Lonnie, Sr., all of Lancaster and Mrs. Sandra Blackmon Lowery of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Mr. Blackmon was preceded in death by a son, James C. Blackmon, Jr.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Victory Baptist Church-Building Fund, PO Box 943, Lancaster, SC 29721.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. tonight, January 28, 2001 at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel and other times at the home, 3030 Ridgewood Acres Road, Lancaster.

Hammond, Louise Stewart
LANCASTER - Mrs. Louise Stewart Hammond, age 81, of 4148 Flat Creek Road, died Saturday morning, January 27, 2001 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born August 1, 1919 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Mr. George T. Stewart and Mrs. Flonnie M. Stewart and was married to Mr. Carl B. Hammond. Mrs. Hammond was a retired technician with Hudge Aircraft of Garden Grove, California, was a member of the Antioch Eastern Star #291 and a member of Rich Hill Baptist Church.

aMrs. Hammond is survived by her husband Mr. Carl B. Hammond of the home, and 1 step-son, Mr. Carl Ray Hammond of Arden, NC.

The funeral service of Mrs. Hammond will be 3:00 pm, Monday afternoon, January 29, 2001 at Rich Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Brooks Walker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Family of Mrs. Hammond will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 pm Sunday evening, January 28, 2001 at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC and suggest memorial contributions to Rich Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1557 E. Doc Garris Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.

Hartley Funeral Home 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720 is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Hammond.

LENOIR - Mr. Ira Milton Coffey, age 89, died January 26, 2001. funeral service is Monday, 2pm at Pendry's Chapel, visitation is 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Rich Family Cemetery.

Graybeal, Margaret Louise
LENOIR - Margaret Louise Graybeal, 87, died Jan. 27, 2001. Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Pendry's Chapel. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Monday at Pendry's Funeral Home.

Gaddy, Kathleen Baucom
MONROE - Mrs. Kathleen Baucom Gaddy, 86, died Friday at Hospice of Union County. Mrs. Gaddy was born November 17, 1914 in Union County, daughter of the late Charlie B. and Julie Medlin Baucom. She was the widow of Thomas Floyd Gaddy, Mrs. Gaddy was a homemaker. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2001 at Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Newell Helms and Elder Larry Austin officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p.m. tonight at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Mrs. Gaddy is survived by one son: Charles F. Gaddy of Charlotte, NC. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is serving the family of Mrs. Gaddy.

MOORESVILLE - Mr. John Wesley Cagle, age 73, of Rinehart Road, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001. Memorial Services will be held Monday, 2PM. Neill Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Hildebrand, Bruce Andrew
MORGANTON - Bruce Andrew Hildebrand, Sr., died Jan. 26, 2001. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. tonight at Grace Ridge Retirement Center mezzanine. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Hostetter, Vernon G.
MT. HOLLY - Mr. Vernon G. Hostetter, 85, of 302 Hicks Circle died January 26, 2001 at his residence. He was born July 3, 1915 on the family farm in Anderson County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Frank and Nora Thomas Hostetter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo Thacker of Lawrenceburg, KY and brothers Rhyburn Hostetter of Lexington, KY, Frank Hostetter, Jr. and Ellis Hostetter of Lawrenceburg, KY.

He served in the Army with the 411th Engineering Battalion in Australia and New Guinea during World War II. H married Lena Chapman in 941 and they lived in Lawrenceburg, KY, until 1953 when their family moved to Mt. Holly. He was a member, teacher, Sunday School Supterintendent and a Deacon Emeritus of First Baptist Church in Mt. Holly. He was a member of the Mason's, Scottish Rites and Shriners. He was an avid farmer & gardener and shared his bounty with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Lena Chapman Hostetter; his son and daughter, Larry and Barbara Hostetter of Mt. Holly; one sister Nora belle Meriwether of Lawrenceburg, KY; 1 brother, Carol Hostetter of Jefferson City, TN; 2 grandchildren and husbands Sheron & Dale Quinn and Laura & Todd Rayfield all of Gastonia; loved nieces Judy Link & husband Jim and Sue Sutton of Lawrenceburg, KY, special family Gary, Debra and Bruce Wilhoit and George, Pat and Amy Burkhoder and Jane McLaughlin.

Services will be conducted by Dr. Dennis Knight, Dr. Robert Winecoff and Rev. Joe Drumm 3 p.m. Monday at Carothers Funeral Home in Mt. Holly with the burial to follow in Hillcrest Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7-9 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons & Friends and Honorary pallbearers the Ike Thomas Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Gaston County, PO Box 3984 Gastonia, NC 28053 or to the First Baptist Church 300 S. Main St., Mt. Holly, NC 28012.

Carothers Funeral Home in Mt. Holly is serving the family.

Pegram, Myrtle Johnson
POLKTON - Mrs. Myrtle Johnson Pegram 87, died Friday, January 26, 2001 in Union Regional Medical Center in Monroe.

She was born in Anson County, September 9, 1913, a daughter of the late John David and Julia Mae Kiker Johnson.

Mrs. Pegram was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Pegram, February 2, 1989.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pegram will be 3:00 p.m. today (Sunday, January 28, 2001) in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro with the Rev. Don Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Bennett Grove Cemetery in Polkton.

Surviving are her children, Sonny Pegram, Frank Pegram, Miss Alice Pegram and Miss Fannie Pegram all of Polkton; her brothers, John David Johnson of Peachland and Lester Johnson of Polkton; and 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The arrangements are in the care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
