Ware, Amy Loretta Dover
CHERRYVILLE - Amy Loretta Dover Ware, 89, of 905 Delview Road, Cherryville, NC died Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at Carolina Care Center, Cherryville.

Funeral services will be held at Gospel Way Baptist Church, Cherryville, NC on Thursday, February 2, 2001 beginning 2:00 PM, with Revs. Roy Clark, Herman Simpson and Bobby Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Greene funeral service, Westside Chapel on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

Mrs. Ware was born September 7, 1911 in Buncombe Co., NC, daughter of the late Joseph B. & Mary Alice Reavis Dover, wife of the late Fred Ware. She was a member of Sparrow Springs Baptist Church, Gastonia, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. She won the 1999 Mother of the Year award. She was a singer on the church's radio program at WKMT, Kings Mtn. She was also a retired Textile Worker. She was preceded in death by brothers, Levi, Oliver & Lawrence Dover; sisters, Lura & Laura Anderson and Kitty Palm.

Surviving her are her son & daughter-in-law, Thomas & Linda Erby of Cherryville; daughters & sons-in-law, Margie & Herman Wright of Kings Mtn., Geneva & James Bowen of Bessemer City; grandchildren, Chris Wright, Ricky Ware, Sonja Davis, Melissa Erby, Louise Bowen & Paulette Bridges; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Memorials contributions may be made by Sparrow Springs Baptist Church, 6147 Lewis Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.

Greene funeral service (Westside Chapel) is serving the family of Mrs. Ware.

Brown, Jack Nelson
CHINA GROVE - Mr. Jack Nelson Brown, 61, died January 29, 2001. A memorial service will be 3:30pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis.

Adams, Gerald Francis
CLEVELAND - Mr. Gerald Francis Adams, 62, died January 29, 2001. There will be no funeral services. Visitation 7-8:30 PM Thursday at Summersett Funeral Home.

Killian, Edna Belle
CLOVER - Miss Edna Belle Killian, age 97, formerly of 101 Price Street, Clover, SC, born August 15, 1903 in Lincoln Co., NC died January 30, 2001 at White Oak Manor, York, SC. She was a daughter of the late John Yancy Killian and Mattie Alice Bumgardner Killian.

Miss Killian was retired from American Thread Co. after 49 years of service and was a resident of Clover since 1916. She was affectionately known to her 20 nieces and nephews as "Aunt Ed."

Survivors are: sister, Mrs. Ezzie K. Sipe of Clover, SC; and 20 nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 4 PM, Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at Woodside Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Dr. William K. Neely.

Memorials may be made to the Clover Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 202 Kings Mountain St., Clover, SC 29710 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Brazell, Ervin Clifford
COLUMBIA - Mr. Ervin Clifford Brazell, 80, died Jan. 28, 2001. Funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Columbia First Seventh Day Adventist Church. Shives Funeral Home is in charge.

Patterson, Geraldine Eaddy
COLUMBIA - Geraldine Eaddy Patterson of Columbia died Tuesday, January 30, 2001. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, which will announce plans.

McGraw, Henry C. "Hank"
CONWAY - Henry C. "Hank" McGraw, age 71 of Tiffany Lane, died January 29, 2001 at his residence following an illness.

Mr. McGraw was born in Charlotte, NC a son of Octavia Laura McGraw and the late Richard McGraw.

Mr. McGraw was a member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC and attended Ocean Lakes Campground Church. He retired as Lt. Col. with the U.S. Army Reserves and was past Commander of the American Legion and Post #40 in Myrtle Beach. Mr. McGraw retired from the Charlotte Police Department, was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and past President of the Retired Officers Association. He was a member of the Myrtle Beach Shrine Club, the Omar Shrine Temple, Omar Chefs, and was past President of the Waccamaw Shrine Club.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Charlotte, NC are his wife Virginia H. McGraw; one son, Jimmy Jones and his wife Ann of Matthews; one daughter, Phyllis McKinney and her husband Henry of Charlotte; one brother, James P. McGraw and one sister, Betty Wallace, both of Mint Hill, NC; four grandchildren, Ken McKinney, Mark McKinney, Corey Jones and Ashley Jones; one great-grandchild, Lacie McKinney.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with the Rev. Kirk Lawton officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Mercy Hospice of Horry County, PO Box 1409, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578, or Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital, 950 W. Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Goldfinch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Toney, Kathryn Keeter
DALLAS - Mrs. Kathryn Keeter Toney, 64, 309 S. Gaston St., died January 30, 2001 at her residence. Mrs. Toney was a native of Rutherford Co., the daughter of the late James Keeter and the wife of the late J.C. Toney and was preceded in death by her brother, Marion Horace Keeter.

Mrs. Toney is survived by her mother, Minnie Swink Keeter, Dallas, NC; sister, Zella Whisnant, Claremont, NC; brother and sister in law, George A. and Pat Keeter, High Shoals, NC; brother, Claude Charles Keeter, Dallas, NC; eight nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews, and one great great nephew.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2001 at Dallas Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. James Gilbreath. Burial will be at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly. The family will receive friends at Dallas Funeral Home, Wednesday evening, 7-8:30 PM and other times at the residence.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Gaston Co., PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28056.

Pallbearers will be: Billy Whisnant, David Leatherman, Justin McNeely, Chad McNeeley, Shane Ozzell, Mickey Laney and George T. Keeter.

Buchanan, Emily Siano
GASTONIA - Emily Siano Buchanan, 76, of 303 S. Highland St., died January 29, 2001 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was a native of New York County, NY. She was the daughter of the late Michael & Filaminia Valachi Siano.

Survivors: sons, Michael W. Buchanan of Gastonia, William "Bill" M. Buchanan, of the home; sister, Mary Seaton of Bronx, NY; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services: 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 1, 2001, McLean Founders Chapel. Visitation: 7-9:00 PM, Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at McLean Funeral Directors. Entombment: Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum.

GASTONIA - Mr. Cole Livingston Blease Harris, 86, died Jan. 28, 2001. Funeral 6pm Wed., Greene funeral service (Westside Chapel). Burial private. Visitation 5-6pm Wed. at funeral home; and at 113 Goforth Rd., Kings Mtn.

Hux, Jesse Morison
GASTONIA - Jesse Morison Hux, 85, of 1611 East Perry Street, Gastonia, died January 29, 2001 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Cocke County, TN. Son of the late Charlie & Mary Mooneyham Hux. He retired from the City of Gastonia. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist, where he was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Suella Southerland Hux of Gastonia; son & daughter-in-law, William & Patricia Hux of Gastonia; daughter & son-in-law, Brenda & Larry Hunsucker of Belmont; brother, George Hux of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren, Wesley Hunsucker of Belmont; David Hux of Boiling Springs, Nikki Toomey of Belmont, Mark Hux of Charlotte, Ben Hunsucker of Belmont; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Hux of Boiling Springs, Jacob Hunsucker of Belmont.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 1, 2001 at McLean Founders Chapel with Rev. Dickie Spargo officiating. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Visitation is 7-9:00 PM Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at McLean Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers: Wesley Hunsucker, David Hux, Mark Hux, Ben Hunsucker, Reggie Adams, Larry Lewis.

HAMLET - Mr. Sterling Page Chavis, 70, died Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. Watson-King Funeral Home is in charge.

Parlier, Samuel Isaac
HICKORY - Mr. Samuel Isaac Parlier, 79, died Jan. 29, 2001. Funeral 11am Thursday, St. Andrews Lutheran Church. Burial, Catawba Memorial Park. Visitation 7-8:30pm Wed. (tonight) at Hickory Funeral Home.

Vandiver, Ruth Simmons
JOHNSON CITY, TN - Mrs. Ruth Simmons Vandiver, 86, of 1816 Broadmoor Rd. died Jan. 29, 2001, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.

Mrs. Vandiver was a native of Wilmington, DE and resided in Spartanburg, SC for most of her life before moving to Johnson City where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law for the past eleven years.

She was a daughter of the late Channing LeRoy and Helen Bowdle Simmons. She retired as office manager from Dr. Tommy Griffin's office, Spartanburg, SC. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, Rock Hill, SC.

Mrs. Vandiver was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, SC, where she was a kindergarten teacher and a member of the chancel choir for many years. She was affectionately known as "Miss Ruth" by her students.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, C. LeRoy Simmons Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann V. O'Quinn of Johnson City; one son, Bill Vandiver of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Virginia von Seth of Greensboro, NC; three grandchildren, Deborah Emert of Lewisville, NC, Jeff Vandiver and Katie Vandiver, both of Charlotte, NC; four great-grandchildren, Lance Emert and Brandon Emert, both of Lewisville, NC, Jackson Vandiver and Kathryn Vandiver, both of Charlotte, NC; five nieces and nephews.

A service of celebration will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at First Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, SC with Dr. Todd B. Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. A private graveside service will be held Thursday prior to the service of celebration in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Those who prefer to make memorial contributions may do so to First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
