Jones, Billy Willard
PICKENS - Billy Willard Jones, 75, of 714 Wolf Creek School Road, died Monday, January 29, 2001 at his home.

Mr. Jones was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Roy Felts and Inez Tompkins Jones. He was the retired owner of Blue Ridge Produce in Pickens and was a member of Secona Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.

Surviving are three daughters, Melanie Gilfillin of Greenville, Nancy Guzman and her husband, Jorge, of Charlotte, and Margaret Ann Moon and her husband, Dr. Joseph T. Moon of Greenville; nine grandchildren: Jennifer Moon Pavlish, Catherine Moon, Amy Jordan Moon, James McCown Gilfillin III, Allison Moon, Erin Moon, Joseph Moon, Abeey Moon and Caitlin Moon; five sisters, Gladys Norton of Pickens, Ruby Rochester of Anderson, Ruth Ristau of Pickens, Jo Kyte of Pensacola, FL and Nell Garrison of Easley.

He was predeceased by one brother, Roy Clarence Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 Pm Thursday in the Chapel of Dillard Memorial Funeral Home by Rev. Lerlin Dow and Rev. Daniel Heeringa. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum.

The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Pm on Wednesday evening.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Secona Baptist Church, 234 Secona Road, Pickens, SC 29671.

The family is at the home.

Carter, Lois Jones
ROCK HILL - Dr. Lois Jones Carter, 83, of 1330 India Hook Rd., died Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at Westminster Health Care Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Bass Funeral Home. (803) 327-4127.

Craig, Ms. Rhonda Lynette
ROCK HILL - Ms. Rhonda Lynette Craig, age 39 of 3724 Saluda Road, Rock Hill, SC, died Monday, January 29, 2001 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C.

A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, February 1, 2001 at Forest Hills Cemetery with Reverend Bill Shytle officiating.

Ms. Craig was a native of Rock Hill, S.C. She was the daughter of Boyd Dorman Craig, Sr. and the late Blanche Roach Craig. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her father, Boyd Dorman Craig, Sr. of the home, Ms. Craig is survived by two daughters, Miss Blanche Michelle Ja'nine Bruce and Miss Summer Leigh Bruce of Richburg, SC and her brother, Keith Craig, of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 from 4:00-6:00 PM and other times at the home of her brother, Keith Craig at 890 Rolling Green Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Memorials may be made to The Serenity Club of York County, PO Box 11044 Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

McDaniel, Lawrence Anderson
ROCK HILL - Mr. Lawrence Anderson McDaniel, 86, of 350 Cannon Drive, Rock Hill, SC died Monday, January 29, 2001 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2001 at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel beginning 11 AM, with Rev. David Inman and Rev. Fant Steele officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at the funeral home from 7-8:30 PM and at other times at the home.

Mr. McDaniel was a native of Blacksburg, SC, son of the late James Edward McDaniel and Sally Belle McDaniel. He worked at the Arcade Mill for 33 years and retired from Everlock Inc. in Pineville, NC. He was a member of Catawba United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of directors and was active in the Men of the Church.

Surviving are his wife, Zuyler McKnight McDaniel, of the home; three sons, Kenneth R. McDaniel, Jerry L. McDaniel and Joe E. McDaniel, all of Rock Hill; his daughter, Shirley McDaniel Catoe of Fort Myers, Florida; his sister, Lillian McDaniel Walker of Blacksburg, SC; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Catawba UMC.

Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Moore, Fred Allen
ROCK HILL - Mr. Fred Allen Moore, 52, died Jan. 29, 2001.

Graveside service was 3 p.m. Tuesday at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Wilmington, NC, he was son of the late James A. and Odette Moore. Mr. Moore was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He attended The Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. He was in sales for a food distributor in Charlotte, NC and was gourmet cook.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Karen Moore; two daughters, Sherry Moore of Edgemoor and Piper Moore of the home; and one granddaughter, Holly Day.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Winterhalter, Olive Elizabeth
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Olive Elizabeth Winterhalter, 89, of Rock Hill, formerly of Harwich, MA, died Jan. 23, 2001.

Funeral services are private.

Mrs. Winterhalter was a native of Harwich, MA and was the daughter of the late Arthur T. and Jesse Burton Clarke.

Survivors include her sons, Arthur W. Winterhalter of Marco Island, FL and Donald P. Winterhalter of Mooresville; her brother, Arthur Clarke of Springfield, MA; her sister, Ann Tinkem of Massachusetts; her two grandsons, David Winterhalter and Eric Winterhalter; her great-granddaughter, Julia K. Winterhalter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities, 229 Kent St., Brookline, MA 02146.

Hatcher, Felton Albert
ROCKINGHAM - Mr. Felton Albert Hatcher, Sr., 54, died January 28, 2001. Funeral 2pm Friday, Jesus First Free Will Bapt. Ch. Interment, Richmond Mem. Park. Vstn 7-9pm Thursday at the church. Marks Funeral Home is in charge.

Brown, Lily Gay Williams Honeycutt
SALISBURY - Mrs. Lily Gay Williams Honeycutt Brown, 80, died January 29, 2001. Funeral 3:30pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis. Visitation 7-9pm Wednesday (tonight) at the funeral home.

Byrd, Grace D.
STATESVILLE - Grace D. Byrd, 88, died January 30, 2001. Funeral 2pm Thursday, Welcome Inn Church. Burial, Iredell Memorial Gardens. Visitation 7-8:30pm Wednesday (tonight) at Nicholson Funeral Home.

Cox, Ruth Callihan
STATESVILLE - Mrs. Ruth Callihan Cox, 87, died Jan. 29, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at Western Avenue Baptist Church. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

McFadyen, Jasper Lindsay `Jack`
STEDMAN - Jasper Lindsay `Jack` McFadyen, age 71, died Sunday, January 28, 2001. Funeral Wednesday, 1/31, 2:00, PM Rogers & Breece Chapel. Visitation 1/30, 7-9 PM, and other times at the home.

Covington, Lena
WADESBORO - Miss Lena Covington, 94, of Florence, SC, formerly of Wadesboro, NC died Sunday, January 28, 2001. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin G. and Kate McLaughlin Covington. The funeral service will be 11 AM today (Wednesday) in Florence with a graveside service following at 3 PM in Eastview Cemetery in Wadesboro.

Montgomery, Roy B.
YORK - Mr. Roy B. Montgomery, 84, of 1136 S. Beersheba Rd., York, SC died Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at Integrated Health Service.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, February 2, 2001 at Kings Mtn. Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Pall Ballard officiating, assisted by Rev. Jerry E. Turner. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bratton Funeral Home Wednesday, January 31, 2001 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

Mr. Montgomery was a native of York Co., SC, son of the late Roy G. Montgomery and Lucy Green Montgomery, husband of the late Mary Mull Montgomery. Roy B. was in the C.C.C. Camp during the service. He was a retired Printer with Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and member of King Mtn. Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Montgomery Bryant and Juanita Montgomery Jordon, both of York, SC; three sons, William Erskin Montgomery, Edgar Clyde Montgomery, both of Rock Hill, SC, Richard Wayne Montgomery of Clover, SC; two sisters, Ellen Montgomery Turner of Rockingham, NC, Ola Montgomery Neely of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Frank Montgomery of Rock Hill, SC, Arlie Montgomery of York, SC; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to: Kings Mtn. Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2040 Hwy 161, York, SC 29745.

Bratton Funeral Home is serving the Montgomery family.

Butler, Infant Ray Quan
Infant Ray Quan Butler, of Charlotte, died January 26, 2001. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001 at Beasley Memorial Garden in Mt. Holly. Beasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gaughan, Lillian Maultsby
Mrs. Lillian Maultsby Gaughan, 82, of Charlotte, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at West Mecklenburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Bledsoe. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00p.m. at McEwen funeral service, Charlotte Chapel.

Mrs. Gaughan was born October 10, 1918 the daughter of the late Frank and Annabell Bruton Maultsby. Lillian is survived by her husband of 22 years, Donald Gaughan; sons, Robert and Wayne Ramsey all of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to West Mecklenburg Baptist Church, 9917 Old Dowd Road, Charlotte, NC 28214.

Arrangements are by McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service, Charlotte Chapel.

Goins, Luther `Luke' Floyd
Mr. Luther `Luke' Floyd Goins, Sr., 73, of Concord, NC, died Sunday, February 4, 2001 at northeast Medical Center. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Efird will officiate the services. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the McEwen funeral service, Charlotte Chapel. The family will greet friends after the graveside service on Tuesday.

Luther Floyd Goins was born May 13, 1927 in Stokesdale, NC the son of Jesse and Ida (Nelson) Goins. He was a retired truck driver after 25 years with Exposaic Ind. In Charlotte, NC. He was a veteran of the US Marines. In 1966 Luke married Louise Thomas. He was a member of the Dilworth Baptist Church.

Mr. Goins is survived by his wife, Louise of the home in Concord; his mother, Ida Goins of Greensboro, NC; daughters, Peggy Nipper of Homerville, GA, Diane and Patricia Goins both of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Luther Floyd Goins, Jr., and Billy Goins both of Jacksonville, Fl; brothers, Warren and bobby of Greensboro, Larry of Richmond, VA, and Paul of Cleveland, OH; sister, Polly Ann Henley of Greensboro; several grandchildren; dear friends, Velva, Rene and `his girl" Tammy, his `babies" Rudy and `Rose Bud".

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Cabarrus County.

Arrangements are by McEwen Funeral and Cremation Services, Charlotte Chapel.

McLendon, Vera
Mrs. Vera McLendon, of Charlotte, NC, died February 4, 2001. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. A.L. Jinwright funeral service is in charge of arrangements.

Meacham, Henry Crampton
Mr. Henry Crampton Meacham, 89, died Friday, February 2, 2001. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived each day with a joyful heart.

Mr. Meacham was born in Hickory, on August 29, 1911, a son of the late James Byrun Meacham and Ferrie Hunter Meacham. He lived the majority of his life in Charlotte, a city he loved and enjoyed watching grow. He retired from Akers Motor Lines but continued to work as an independent salesman until recently. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Meacham and brother, J.B. Meacham.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with The Reverend Doctor Duke Ison, officiating. The family will receive friends at Dilworth United Methodist Church, immediately following the service.

Henry is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dixon Meacham, daughter, Sally M. Curtis and her husband Eugene H. Curtis, of Raleigh, granddaughters, Sandra Curtis Bowen and husband Matt Bowen, of Pfafftown and Kimberly Curtis Moser and her husband Jeff Moser, of Cary, brother, Lous H. Meacham, of Charlotte and great grandson, Sawyer Bowen, two nephews, five nieces and their children.

The family would like to express it's gratitude to the staffs on Third Floor, at Asbury Care and and Second Floor, Presbyterian Wesley Care Centers for their kindness and love extended to Mr. Meacham.
