Morgan, Ruby Odell Greene
Mrs. Ruby Odell Greene Morgan, 96, died on Friday, February 2, 2001. A long-time resident of Charlotte, she was born May 21, 1904, in Union County, to the late Martin Leonard and Dora Emeline Mullis Greene. She was the wife of the late Reece Hampton Morgan, Sr., to whom she was married for almost 52 years.

She was a devoted member of Shiloh Trulight Church. She retired from W.T. Grant Department Store in Charlotte, where she was employed for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by 2 sons, Reece Hampton Morgan, Jr. of Matthews and Charles Linwood Morgan, Sr. of Newton; 2 daughters, Ruby Josephine Morgan Todd of Conover and Linda Ann Morgan Archer of Burlington; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Delphia Eunice Greene Freeman; 3 brothers, Van Alexander Greene, Hoyle Wilson Greene, Sr., and Roy Glenn Greene, Sr. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary Blanche Greene Bartlett and Mayme Agnes Greene Crowell; 4 brothers, Martin Leonard Greene, Jr., Conley Franklin Greene, Sr., Claude James Greene, Ralph Edsel Greene, Sr., and 3 infant siblings; and 2 infant great-grandchildren.

Graveside services was held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, February 3, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe. Brother Rommie Purser of Shiloh Trulight Church officiated.

Relatives and friends attended visitation and fellowship on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Shiloh Trulight Church, Trulight Church Road, Mint Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Shiloh Trulight Church, 9920 Mill Grove Road, Indian Trail, N.C. 28079.

Her family would like to thank all of the members of Shiloh Trulight Church for their help and support.

Page, James Arthur
James Arthur Page, age 73, of Charlotte, NC, died at home on February 3, 2001. He was born in Landrum, South Carolina, on February 13, 1927, to the late LeRoy Randolph Page and Alma Irene Foster Page. The Page family moved to Spartanburg, SC, in 1929 where Arthur attended Spartanburg City Schools.

He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served as an enlisted man in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. Returning to Spartanburg after the war, he attended Wofford College in Spartanburg and Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. In 1949 he married the former Mary Ellen Dobbins of Spartanburg.

Mr. Page and his family moved to Charlotte, NC, in 1952 where he was employed in the Art Department of the Charlotte Observer. He also worked for the Charlotte News for several years. He joined Lowe's where he created their Advertising Department. He was head of advertising departments for several major corporations in North Carolina, the last being Associated Grocers Mutual. He left AGM in 1970 to form his own advertising agency, which he operated until his retirement in 1995.

Mr. Page is survived by his wife of 51 years, one daughter, Katherine Page Gradyon and husband, Edward, of Woodbridge, Virginia; one son, James Randolph Page of Charlotte; grandchildren, Irene Elizabeth Graydon and Joshua Edward Graydon, both of Woodbridge, Virginia. He is also survived by brothers, Cannon F. Page of Chester, Virginia; H. Cliff Page and wife, Kathryn of Portsmouth, Virginia; and sisters, Mildred Page Hogarth and husband, John, of Kinston, NC; and Alma page Atwater of Columbia, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Page's life will be held at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 3307 Rea Road, Charlotte, NC at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2001. The service will be conducted by Pastors Doug Vinez and David Cornett. The family will receive friends follow the memorial service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Presbyterian Home Care-Hospice, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233-3549; or to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 3307 Rea Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.

Parks, Clister (Baby)
Mrs. Clister (Baby) Parks, 90, of Charlotte, died February 1, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grier funeral service Chapel with the Rev. William Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Beatties Ford Garden in Huntersville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. parks was a member at an early age of Big Pineville AME Zion in Pineville, NC. In her early forties she moved her membership to Letter Rock AME Zion Church, Charlotte, NC. She was a member of the Missionary Circle #2, the Sunshine Club and Sunday School Class. She was conserated as a deaconess under the pastorate of the late Dr. William M. White., Sr.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, a step-daughter and a host of niece, nephews and friends.

The family will assemble at the residence of Virginia Gaston of 2010 Holy Rd., in Charlotte.

Price, Marvin `Paw Paw"
Mr. Marvin `Paw Paw" Price, 78, of Charlotte, died Saturday, February 3, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at McEwen funeral service, Charlotte Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Monday evening, February 7, 2001 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Pice was born December 8, 1922 at Manning, SC the son of the late Joe and Mary (Snyder) Price. He served in the Army during WWII. Marvin worked as a Supervisor for Allright Parking.

Mr. Price is survived by his daughter, Nancy P. Tanner and her husband, Gerald of Huntersville, NC; son, Jerry Price and his wife, Martha of Morehead Cit, NC; grandchildren, Wendy, Stephanie, Sam, Shannon, Amanda, Tammy; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Price of Bonneau, SC; and a sister, Mary Myers of Summerville, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Helms) Price.

Arrangements are by McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service, Charlotte Chapel.

Tuck, Eileen M.
Eileen M. Tuck, 67, of Charlotte, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Reverend Richard Hanson, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Historic Matthews Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. this evening at the Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington funeral service, 5301 Albemarle Road.

Born August 7, 1933 in Framingham, MA, Mrs. Tuck was an avid bridge player and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for 37 years. Her twin infant daughters, Charlotte and Anne, preceded Mrs. Tuck in death.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Robert Tuck; three sons, Robert Tuck, Jr. and his wife, Angela of Asheville, Mark Tuck and his wife, Nancy and Christopher Tuck, all of Charlotte; two sisters, Anne Marie Dunford of Columbia, SC and Sheila Mozingo and her husband, Ralph of Greenville, NC; and three grandchildren, Anna Tuck, Jennifer Tuck and Dustin Tuck.

Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.

Arrangements are by the Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington funeral service.

Walker, Herbert Benjamin (`Ben")
Herbert Benjamin (`Ben") Walker, 67, of Charlotte, NC, died February 2, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at haven of Rest Baptist Church in Charlotte. The Rev. Robert Stowe, Pastor, Evangelist Franzell Simmons, officiating. Burial will be in Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens in Huntersville, NC. Visitation will be from 1-1:55 p.m. February 6, 2001 at the church.

Survivors are two daughters, Lisa Hunter and Tara Hunter both of Charlotte, NC; five brothers, James Walker, John Walker, Thomas, Walker, Willie Walker, Curtis Walker; six sisters, Dorothy Simmons all of Charlotte, NC, Shirley Moore of Charlotte, NC, Ernestine Lewis of Washington, DC, Madeline Roseboro, Charlotte, NC, Carolyn McNeil, Charlotte, NC.

The family will father at 615 North Pine Street.

Young, J. Liston
J. Liston Young, 83, of Charlotte, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 at Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, at his church, St. John's Baptist Church with the family receiving friends in Broach Hall following the service.

Mr. Young was born in Timmonsville, South Carolina, August 14, 1917, son of the late James and Mattie Young. Liston was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was retired from the furniture industry.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Martha G. Young of Charlotte; one son, Jay Young of Greensboro, NC; three daughters, Darnell Miller and Jo Carole Young both of Charlotte, and Gayle Y. Cumming of Raleigh; one brother, G.K. Young of Timmonsville, South Carolina; two sisters, Helen Bridgeland of Tallahassee, Florida and Thelma Kirby of Jacksonville, Florida, and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Baptist Church Endowment Fund, 300 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, North Carolina 28204 or the Heineman Medical Research Center, 1001 Blythe Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Wilson Chapel, 1111 East Blvd.

Hatley, Bryon Eugene
ALBEMARLE - Bryon Eugene Hatley, 41, died Sunday, February 4, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born on September 27, 1959 in Stanly County, NC. He was a farmer.

funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Salem United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mark Denton. Burial will be in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He graduated from North Stanly High School in 1977 and was employed by Coca Cola for 10 years and later employed by Royster. From the time he was a young man his passion was farming which he always enjoyed.

He is survived by his father, Hurley Gene Hatley, mother, Ann Harwood Hatley, and paternal grandmother, Louise Hatley all of Albemarle. He is also survived by one aunt, Patsy Blankenship, two cousins, Scott and Tommy Blankenship and a special little friend, Matthew Hoover.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 5970, Fairview Road, Charlotte, NC 28210; Salem United Methodist Church, 20987 NC Hwy 73, Albemarle, NC 28001.

The family will be at the home of his mother, Ann Hatley, 24734, NC Hwy 73, Albemarle, NC in the Millingport community.

Phillips, Grover Roger
ALBEMARLE - Grover Roger Phillips, 56, died Sunday, February 4, 2001 at Stanley Memorial Hospital. He was born September 19, 1944 in Stanly County, NC. He was a machine overhauler for Wiscassett Mills for 39 years.

The Funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Northside Baptist Church by the Rev. Larry Dennis. Burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory Mausoleum, Albemarle, NC. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.

He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Eula Jane Arey Phillips, father, Floyd Jackson Phillips, mother, Esther Earnhardt Phillips, son and daughter-in-law, Nelson Roger and Kathy Phillips, brother, Lonnie Ray Phillips, sisters, Shirley Smith and Bonnie Troutman all of Albemarle.

The family will be at his home, 703 Bethany Road, Albemarle, NC.

Spencer, Lee Roy
CHAPEL HILL - Rev. Lee Roy Spencer, 88, died Saturday, February 3, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at University Methodist Church, Chapel Hill. Visitation will immediately follow service in the church parlor. Arrangements by Walker's Funeral Home.

Deason, Johnny Lee
CHINA GROVE - Johnny Lee Deason, 76, died February 3, 2001. Funeral is 3:30 p.m. Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis. Visitation is 2-3:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hughes, Lucille Ludwig
CHINA GROVE - Lucille Ludwig Hughes, 91, died Friday, February 2, 2001. The body will be cremated with a memorial service to be held later. Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Scott, Kenneth Ray
CHINA GROVE - Kenneth Ray Scott, 28, died Friday, February 2, 2001. Funeral is 3 p.m. today at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove. Visitation is one hour prior at the funeral home.

Davis, Ruby June Anderson
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Ruby June Anderson Davis, age 92, died Sunday, February 4, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 in the First Baptist Church. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Wednesday in the church parlor.

Duffy, Mary Anderson
GASTONIA - Mary Anderson Duffy, 86, of `The Manor House" 2755 Union Road, Gastonia, North Carolina, died February 3, 2001 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Macon, Georgia, daughter of the late James L. and Mary Franklin Anderson. She was the wife of the late Joseph Andrew Duffy. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Duffy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Duffy Hay and Dr. Bob Hay of Gastonia, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. James L. and Renee Duffy of Tucker, GA, and Dr. Joseph A. and Teresa Duffy of Gastonia; four grandchildren, Lori Hay and Julie Nichols of Wilkesboro, Colin Duffy of Fuqua Varina, NC, and Andy Duffy of Gastonia.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held 3 p.m. Sunday at Saint Michael's Catholic Church. Father John Allen officiated. Visitation was 1:30-2:30 Sunday at Carothers Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Building Fund, St. Michael's Catholic Church, 708 St. Michaels Lane, Gastonia, NC, 28056 or Holy Angels, 6600 Wilkerson Blvd. Belmont, NC, 28214.
