Fields, Victoria Cone
Mrs. Victoria Cone Fields, age 87, of The Laurels in Pineville, passed away February 9, 2001 at her residence. A memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. Fields will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at The Laurels, 13180 Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 12 at the 1st United Methodist Church of Siler City, NC, with the Reverend Travis Owen officiating. The Fields family will visit with fiends one hour prior to the service in Siler City. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Mrs. Fields was born August 12, 1913 in Bulloch County, GA, daughter of Remer Hamilton Cone and Ila Mae Mingledorff Cone. She was retired from the Chatham County, NC school system where she taught 7th grade.

Preceded in death by husband, Riley Clinton Fields, Mrs. Fields is survived by her two sons, Robert M. Fields, of Charlotte, Riley C. Fields, Jr., of Greer, SC; and grandson, Riley C. Fields, III, of Charlotte. Also surviving are two brothers, Woodrow Cone, of Monroe, GA, and R.H. Cone, of Atlanta, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the name of Mrs. Victoria C. Fields may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 212, Sler City, NC 27344.

Arrangements by McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service, Charlotte Chapel.

Givens, Lula Bell
Mrs. Lula Bell Givens, died February 8, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Grier funeral service.

Grier, Preston Albert
Preston Albert Grier, the son of the late William O. Grier and Viola Flecther Grier, was born November 22, 1929 in Charlotte, NC. He departed this life Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at ST. Luke Hospital, New York, NY.

He graduated from West Charlotte High School n 1948. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Saint Augustine College in 1952. He also received a Master Degree in Social Services from Aldelphis University in Long Island, New York.

Preston taught science at Warrenton High School, Warrenton, GA. Returning to Charlotte, he taught at West Charlotte High School. Preston left Charlotte and worked as an Administrator at Wood Hull Psychiatric Hospital in Riverside, New York until retirement.

Preston was a member of Omega Psi Phi and West Charlotte High School National Alumni, Inc. He was a member of many Professional and social organizations in psychiatric mental health fields.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a son, Maurice Oliver Grier, brother, James H. Grier, Detroit, Michigan, two sisters, Mrs. Mary G. Kee, and Mrs. Connie G. Ross, both of Charlotte, NC. A host of nieces, nephews and a devoted from Ms. Barbara Regan.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2001 at C.N. Jenkins Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Jerry L. Cannon will officiate. Burial will be in York Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the church. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Mary G. Kee, 4413 Knollcrest Dr.

Alexander Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harrill, Marion Oscar `M.O.'
Mr. Marion Oscar `M.O.' Harrill, Jr., 80, of Charlotte died Thursday, February 8th at the Beverly Renaissance. Graveside service will take place on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Sharon Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Richard Kremer officiating.

Born July 19, 1920 M.O. was the son of the late Marion & Crissie Bryte Rockett Harrill. Mr. Harrill served with the U.S. Army AirCorp during World War II, he had been a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church. A Charlotte resident since 1955, M.O. had been employed for over 30 years with Furr's Seed & Feed, East Trade St.,

Survivors include 2 brothers Hal Harrill of Charlotte and Nelson Harrill of Greensboro; sisters, Mary `Pat' Abrams of Charlotte, Inez Blair of Greensboro, and Ruby Allen of Ellenboro as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Carolina Funeral & Cremation is entrusted with the arrangements.

Hunt, Ronald
Mr. Ronald Hunt, - 27, died February 10, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete. Beasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lindsey, James E.
Mr. James E. Lindsey, age 70, of Charlotte died Friday, February 9, 2001 at Mercy Hospital. He was born July 6, 1930 in Knoxville, TN son of the late Ben W. Lindsey and Pearl Travis Lindsey. Mr. Lindsey was a United States Army Veteran, he served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Eslon Thermal Plastics, and worked at the charlotte Coliseum as a security officer, where he never met a stranger and always put a smile on your face. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2001 at McEwen funeral service Charlotte Chapel officiated by The Reverend Doctor Buddy Pigg. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 11, 2001 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Barbara Clark Lindsey, four children daughter Brenda Armstrong, son Kenny Lindsey, both of Charlotte; daughter, Debbie Fagan, of Columbus, NC; daughter, Kathy Lindsey, of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Beth Armstrong, Melissa Chevalier, Michael Armstrong, Jr., Brandon Lindsey and Courey Fagan, four great grandchildren, James Mullis, Valerie Mullis, Dayton and Dillion Chevalier, one sister Barbara Hodge, and one brother Bill Lindsey. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association 1229 Greenwood Cliff ste. 109, Charlotte, NC 28204. Arrangements are by McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service Charlotte Chapel.

Scott, Mary Hooks
Mrs. Mary Hooks Scott, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at Avante Nursing Center, Concord. She was formerly of Charlotte. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2001 at the graveside in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte. Dr. Donald McManus will officiate.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.

Born December 16, 1908 in Cabarrus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Della Munson Hooks. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Holy Covenant United Church of Christ of Charlotte. Her husband was the late Roy A. Scott.

Survivors are sons, Jesse Scott and wife Joyce of Concord, Thomas Scott and wife Dorothy of Waxhaw, grandsons, Craitg Scott of Wake Forest, and Jeff Scott of Charlotte.

Memorials should be directed to Boger United Church of Christ, 7313 Gold Hill Rd., Concord, NC 28025.

Sherrill, Brilliant S.
Mr. Brilliant S. Sherrill, Jr., 77, of Huntersville, died Saturday, February 10, 2001, at Luke Norman Regional Medical Center. He was born November 8, 1923 in Iredell County to the late B.S. Sherrill, Sr. and Anne Brevad Neil Sherrill. Mr. Riddle was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, attended Cornelius High School, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a retired Farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Izez Kelly Sherrill; sons, Mike and Reggie Sherrill, and Barry Wally; daughter, Lynn W. Morrow and Debby W. Nelson; sisters, Pat S. Auten and Betty S. Brotherton, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2001 at Mt. Zion Community Church with the Rev. Phil Gibbs officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday 7-8:30 p.m. at Raymer Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion UMC Cemetery fund at 19600 Zion St., Cornelius, NC 28031.

Boysworth, Bobby Gene
ALBEMARLE - Mr. Bobby Gene Boysworth, 64, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001. Funeral is 3 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home.

Lisk, Dora Mae `Sue' Pickler
ALBEMARLE - Mrs. Dora Mae `Sue' Pickler Lisk, 84, died Friday, February 9, 2001 at Stanly Memorial Hospital. She was born May 23, 1916 in Stanly County, NC the daughter of the late Dora Miller Pickler and William Thomas Pickler. She was married to the late Edgar Poe Lisk who died in 1986. She was a retired secretary for First Union and First National Bank.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2001 at First Baptist Church, Albemarle with the Rev. Harold McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle, NC. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. tonight, Feb. 11, 2001 at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Albemarle, NC and First Union and Frist National Bank with 39 years of service.

Survivors are daughter, Peggie Lisk Smith of Albemarle, NC; sisters, Ruth P. Fraley of Greensboro, CN and Beatrice P. Fuller of Hendersonville, NC; grandsons, David Smith of Albemarle and Doug Smith of Asheville, NC; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 202 North Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.

ANSONVILLE - Mr. Robert Edward Allen, 48, died February 8, 2001. Funeral is 3 p.m. Monday at Cedar Hill A.M.E. Zion Church. F&M; McLendon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Blankenship, Laura Mae
ASHEVILLE - Laura Mae Blankenship, 99, died Friday, February 9, 2001. Graveside service is 2 p.m. Monday at Ashe Lawn Garden and Memory, Asheville, NC. Hartsell-Midland Funeral Home is in charge.

Quick, Annie Mae McGee
BENNETTSVILLE - Annie Mae McGee Quick, age 80, died February 9, 2001. Born in Marlboro County she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Atlanta Knight McGee.

She was a member of Emanuel Holiness Church in Wallace and the ladies auxiliary. Surviving are her daughter, Betty Mae Quick Berg of Darlington; 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one granddaughter Robin Grant. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Wallace Emanuel Holiness Church with burial in Chavis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Norton Funeral Home of Cheraw.

BESSEMER CITY - Vaudie Sarvis Ramsey, 89, died Friday, February 9, 2001. Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church. Visitation is 5- 7p.m. tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Goins, Donald Ray
CASAR - Mr. Donald Ray Goins, 53, died Friday, February 9, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. Visitation is 12:30-2 p.m. immediately preceding the service Sunday.

CONCORD - Lisa Ann Pinto Page, 25, died Saturday, February 10, 2001. Funeral is 1 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Monroe. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, NC.

McBryde, Willie `Mac'
DUNN - Willie `Mac' McBryde, age 34, departed this life, February 7, 2001 at his home. Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn, NC is assisting the McBryde family.

Nicholson, Lacy Allen
ELLERBE - Lacy Allen Nicholson, 83, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday at Concord United Methodist Church. Visitation is following the service at the church. Carter Funeral Home of Ellerbe is in charge.

Hensley, Julius Vance `Jake'
ELON COLLEGE - Julius Vance `Jake' Hensley, 76, died Friday, February 9, 2001. He was the husband of the late Vaden Gant Hensley. Born in Alamance County, NC, he was the son of the late Lew Clifton `Bud' Hensley and Mattie Viola Ingle Hensley. He was a former employee of Glen Raven Mills and later operator of Hensley Hosiery Mill. He was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church and was a former Charter Member and Treasurer of Zion Christian Church. He was a graduate of Alamance Community College Heating and Air Condition School and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Sunset Harbor Fishing Club.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2001 at Glen Raven Baptist Church with burial in Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rev. Bobby Fann, pastor of the church, assisted by The Rev. George M. `Jack" Phillips, Jr., pastor of Zion Christian Church.

He is survived by one son, Kimley Craig `Kim' Hensley, Sr., of Elon College; 1 daughter, Mrs. Melba Crane of Charlotte; 3 brothers, Wade Hensley, LA Hensley and Russell Hensley all of Elon College; 2 sisters, Mrs. Irene Hall of Elon College and Mrs. Irma Foust of Gibsonville; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and 2 brothers, Clyde `Stock" Hensley and Vernon Hensley.

Mr. Hensley will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. tonight and at other times at the residence. 812 Wagoner Rd., Elon College.

Sifford, Marcus Eli
FAITH - Mr. Marcus Eli Sifford, 73, died February 9, 2001. Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at Shiloh United Church of Christ, Faith, NC. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. today, Feb. 11, 2001 at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Herron, Maybelle Nations
