Queen, Ruby Nivens
GASTONIA - Ruby Nivens Queen, 81, of 523 S. Clay Street, Gastonia, died Saturday, February 10, 2001 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
Mrs. Queen was born on April 19, 1919 in York, SC to the late John J. and Evie Carpenter Nivens. Mrs. Queen worked for many years with Threads Inc. and Homelite before her retirement. She was a member of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church where she served on numerous committees.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde G. Queen in 1966. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Earl Albert, Grady, Haskell, and Carl Nivens; 3 sisters, Virginia Nivens, Martha Sigmon, and Grace Rhyne.
Surviving Mrs. Queen is a son Clyde G. Queen, Jr. and wife Luana of Raleigh; two granddaughters, Melanie C. Riley of Raleigh, Amy M. Barbour and husband Todd of Rolesville, NC; three great grandchildren, Logan G. Barbour and Regan M. Barbour of Rolesville, NC and Shelby E. Champion of Raleigh; brother Jack Nivens of Waynesville, NC; two sisters, Zula N. Barker of Gastonia and Betty N. Smith and husband Bill of Gastonia.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday 7-9 PM at McLean Funeral Directors on New Hope Road, Gastonia and other times at the home of Betty & Bill Smith, 202 W. Fourth Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church, 825 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.
Stewart, Ida Bell Hooper
GASTONIA - Ida Bell Hooper Stewart, 81, of 1015 W. Sixth St. Ave. B died Feb. 10, 2001.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at South Gastonia Pentacostal Holiness Church with Rev. Brent Grigg officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Case, Keith Patterson, Ronnie Patterson, Dennis Jones, Tim Patterson and L.D. Bolin.
Mrs. Stewart was born Feb. 10, 1920 in Cherokee County. She was a member of South Gastonia Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Martha Wiggins Hooper; husband, Claude B. Stewart; sons, Edward and Melvin Stewart; and sister, Pauline Himebaugh.
Survivors include her daughter, Beatrice Patterson of Gastonia; sister, Betty Strickland of Virginia; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Greene funeral service, Southside Chapel is in charge.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mattie Earl Moore Neal, 93, of White Oak Manor, 716 Sipe St., Kings Mountain, NC died February 11, 2001 at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at Capps Memorial Missionary Methodist Church, with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw, Rev. Kelley Jones and Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Shady Grove Baptist Church, Cherryville, NC. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Carpenter' Funeral Home and at other times the family will be at the home of son, "Chick" Neal, 625 Hilton Rd., Cherryville, NC.
Mrs. Neal was a native of Cleveland Co., NC, born December 6, 1907, daughter of the late John and Nancy Ballaew Moore. She was a homemaker and member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Cherryville, NC.
Surviving her are her husband, Marcus Zone Neal of Kings Mtn., NC; 6 sons, Giles Neal, Terrell, NC, Beuford Neal, Cherryville, NC, Charles M. Neal, Bessemer City, NC, John Neal, Cherryville, NC, Gerald A. "Chick" Neal, Cherryville, NC, Thomas Neal, Bessemer City, NC; 1 daughter, Ruby N. Eaker, Cherryville, NC; 1 sister, Mrs. Carrie Sellers, Cherryville, NC; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, John Moore, Plato Moore, Samuel Moore, Boyce Moore, Tom Moore & Gardner Moore; and two sisters, Martha Green & Nance Heavner.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Livingston, Mildred `Millie` Kesler
LANCASTER - Mrs. Mildred `Millie` Kesler Livingston, age 72, of 506 Providence Road, died Sunday morning, February 11, 2001 at her home. She was born August 16, 1928 in Newberry, SC, the daughter of the late Mr. Henry Adam Kesler and Mrs. Dessie Juanita Kilgore Kesler and was the wife of the late Mr. James Norman `Chick` Livingston. Mrs. Livingston was a graduate of Newberry College where she received her A.S. Degree in Business, she retired from Springs Industries and was a Charter Member of Reformation Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Livingston is survived by 2 sons, Mr. Larry Livingston and his wife Mary of Lancaster, Mr. Jimmy Livingston and his wife Jill of Worchester, MA, 6 brothers, Mr. John Kesler, Mr. Jack Kesler, Mr. Fred Kesler, and Mr. Ned Kesler all of Newberry, Mr. Jimmy Kesler of Silverstreet, SC and Mr. Joe Kesler of Prosperity, SC, 1 sister, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Senn of Newberry, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service of Mrs. Livingston will be 11:00 am Wednesday morning, February 14, 2001 at Reformation Lutheran Church by Pastor Joe Bailey and Pastor Karl Bernsdorff. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at Newberry Memorial Gardens in Newberry, SC.

Pegram, Billy Ray
LANCASTER - Mr. Billy Ray Pegram, age 61, of 1030 Meadowbrook Drive, died Sunday evening, February 11, 2001 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. He was born September 17, 1939 in Chesterfield County, the son of the late Mr. Joe Bennett Pegram and Mrs. Mamie Ellen McClain Pegram. Mr. Pegram retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
Mr. Pegram is survived by his wife, Mrs. Linda Blackmon Pegram of the home, 1 son, Mr. Ken Pegram and his wife Pam of Hickory, NC, 1 daughter, Mrs. Tammy Parris and her husband Nick of Lancaster, 1 brother, Mr. Bennett Junior Pegram of Lancaster, 3 sisters, Mrs. Margaret Rumsey of Lancaster, Mrs. Alice Pratt of Kershaw, and Mrs. Willie Mae Bayne of Heath Springs, 2 grandchildren, Daniel Austin Pegram and Joshua Drew Parris.
The funeral service for Mr. Pegram will be 3:00 pm Wednesday afternoon, February 14, 2001 at Eastside Baptist Church by Rev. Joel Rhyner burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
