DENTON -- Mr. Parker John Shelton, 2 days old, died March 22, 2001. funeral service is 2 pm Saturday at Denton Wesleyan Church. Briggs Funeral Home of Denton is in charge.

Windsor, Kenneth Martin
GASTONIA -- Mr. Kenneth Martin Windsor, 66, died March 26, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Carothers Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Faulkenberry officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park with full military rites by the Last Man's Club of Gastonia.

Pallbearers will be Alton Windsor Jr., Steve Bohanan, Robin Clark, Fred Rainwater, Gordon Lewis and Bobby Silver.

Mr. Windsor was a native of Maryland, the son of the late Wallace R. and Ollie Alford Windsor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Witten Supply, Gastonia, after 32 years service. He was a member of the Absher Flowers VFW Post # 9337, Gastonia. In addition to his parents, Mr. Windsor was preceded in death by his brother, Alton C. Windsor Sr.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Beverly Stover Windsor of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Dine of Tulsa, OK, Sharon Bohanan and husband, Steve of Dallas, and Loretta W. Sherrill and husband, Gary of Gastonia; four brothers, Wallace Windsor of Maryland, David Windsor of Virginia, Charles Windsor of Virginia, and Robert Windsor of Maryland; two sisters, Barbara Tower of Florida and Delores Folliard of Maryland; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Goodwin, Marvin
HAMLET -- Mr. Marvin Goodwin, 81, of 532 Charlotte Street, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and have been entrusted to Nelson funeral service of Hamlet.

Cates, Larry Warren
HICKORY -- Larry Warren Cates, 66, of 705 2nd Street, N.E., died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at his residence. He was born June 15, 1934 in Honolulu, Hawaii, son of Anne McEnroe Cates and the late Fred W. Cates, and husband of Deion Bowden Cates. He was retired, and a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

The body will lie in state from 10:30 - 11:00 AM, Friday at First Baptist Church with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, The Rev. Pat Pearce officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Church in the Narthex. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Cates is survives by his wife, Deion B. Cates of the home; sons Mark Cates of Bowie, MD and Mike Cates of Hickory; daughter DeAnne C. Edwards of Cary, NC; brothers Don T. Cates and Jerry Cates, both of Charlotte; sister Carol Lowery of Charlotte; mother Anne McEnroe Cates of Charlotte; and 8 grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Don Cates, Jerry Cates, Ken Lowery, Donnie Cates, Chuck Lowery, Dyke Little, Joe Wakefield, and Bill Johnson.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28202, or Byler Organ Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 339 2nd Avenue, N.W., Hickory, NC 28601.

Julian, Billy Lomas
KANNAPOLIS -- Mr. Billy Lomas Julian, 68, died March 27, 2001. Funeral is 2 pm Friday, Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, interment in Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation is 12:30-2 pm Friday, Whitley's Funeral Home.

Lazenby, Genevieve Roark
KANNAPOLIS -- Genevieve Roark Lazenby of Kannapolis, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at Huntersville Oaks, Huntersville, NC.

Genevieve was born January 1, 1920 in Cherokee County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Horace D. Roark and Hattie Zimmerman Roark. She was also preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Lazenby and granddaughter Heather Elaine Gillon.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Roger Gillon of Charlotte, NC; one grandson McKinnon (Mac) Gillon and his wife, Vanya of Daly City, California; and one sister, Earcelle Vinson of Greenville, SC.

Mrs. Lazenby worked for over 45 years for Cannon Mills Company. She was also very proud that she had been one of the `Rosie the Riveters` for Glenn L. Martin Aircraft in Baltimore, Maryland during World War II. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church in Kannapolis.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Concord Place, Concord, NC, where Genevieve made her home for the last three years, for their kindness and friendships, as they were her extended family. We also thank the staff at Huntersville Oaks for their grace and professionalism in the last few weeks of Genevieve's life.

Funeral services will be 8:00 PM Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Friday. Rev. Billy Rintz will officiate. Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Carolina Memorial Park.

Stone, Virginia Ware
KINGS MOUNTAIN -- Mrs. Virginia Ware Stone, 77, resident of 709 Oak Grove Rd., died March 27, 2001 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC.

funeral service is 2 pm Friday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, the Reverend Ron Caulder officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 pm this evening at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, and at other times at the home of her son, Bill Stone, 133 Brook Rd., Kings Mountain, NC.

She was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late Frank C. and Pearl Lovelace Ware, wife of the late William Floyd Stone, Jr. She was retired from Mauney Hosiery in Kings Mountain, a longtime employee of Hudson Hosiery in Shelby and former employee of Town and Country Beauty Salon in Shelby, NC. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain where she was a member of the Mae Cleo Prayer Circle, the Faith Sunday School Class and choir member. She was also a volunteer for Hospice of Cleveland County and a member of the Open Gate Garden Club in Kings Mountain.

Survivors include her son, Bill Stone and his wife Sandy, of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Brenda Falls and Husband Rick, of Gastonia, and Martha Gushue and husband Jack, of Greenville, SC; five brothers, Walter Ware and wife Melba, of Kings Mountain, Jack Ware of Shelby, Buford Ware and wife Stella, of Kings Mountain, Bob Ware and wife Betty, of Kings Mountain, and Mike Ware and wife Shirley; two sisters, Polly Phifer and husband Menzell, and Annette Webster and husband Bob, all of Kings Mountain; her sister-in-law Betty DeBruler and husband A.T.; grandchildren Larry Stone and wife Beverly, of Kings Mountain, Lyndi Stone of Raleigh, Ashley Falls of Chapel Hill, Brad Falls of Gastonia, Patterson Mitchell and Ginny Mitchell of Greenville, SC, and Catherine Gushue of Greenville, SC; and one great grandchild, Kelton Stone.

Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Organ Fund, 1022 Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.

Jenkins, Virgil "Lanon"
LANCASTER -- Mr. Virgil "Lanon" Jenkins, 80, of 2125 Old Camden-Monroe Hwy., Tradesville Community, Lancaster, died March 27, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.

Funeral is 3 p.m. Thursday at Spring Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Threatt and Rev. Bennie Barwick officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites by the Wannamaker Lodge # 329.

Born Dec. 6, 1920 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late DeWitt and Connie Funderburk Jenkins. He was the former owner of Jenkins Garage and Jenkins Grocery and current owner of Jenkins Auto Sales and was retired from DHEC.

He was a member of Lancaster Commandry of Knights Templer, Scottish Rite, Hejaz Shrine Temple, Past Master of Wannamaker Lodge # 329, and a lifetime member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, where he was an active member of the Senior Adults and a former deacon. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a Staff Sgt.

Mr. Jenkins was the widower of the late Mabry J. Jenkins; and was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis Wayne Jenkins.

Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Gloria) Brann of Lancaster; a sister, Mrs. Mary Ella McManus of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to Spring Hill Baptist Church, 6070 Spring Hill Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Shute, William Howell `Will`
LANCASTER -- Mr. William Howell `Will` Shute, 52, died March 28, 2001 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at Union Baptist Church, 2 pm Friday, March 30, by the Reverend Doug Humphries. The family will receive friends at Mahaffey Funeral Home from 7-9 pm this evening.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ray Hinson Shute, Sr., and Mamie Bernice Hegler Shute. He was a former truck driver and was a member of Union Baptist Church. He had served in the United States Marines in Vietnam.

Mr. Shute is survived by his wife, Deborah McManus Shute of Lancaster; a daughter, Ms. Jennifer Hinson of Lancaster; three brothers, Ray H. Shute, Jr. of Lancaster, Jerry T. Shute of Rock Hill, and Randy Shute of Lancaster; a sister, Mrs. Virginia (Jenny) Whitaker; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, 5003 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Baker, Zella Mae
LENOIR -- Mrs. Zella Mae Baker, 84, died March 27, 2001. Funeral is 2 pm Friday, Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home Chapel, interment in Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is 7-8:30 pm tonight, Pendry's Funeral Home.

Gragg, Lockwood Eno
LENOIR -- Lockwood Eno Gragg, 61, of Piney Grove Circle, died Monday, March 26, 2001. Funeral 11am Friday, Piney Grove Baptist Church. Visitation Thursday evening 7-8:30 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home, to whom plans entrusted.

McLaughlin, Grace K.
LENOIR -- Grace K. McLaughlin, 94, died March 27, 2001. Arrangements are incomplete. Pendry's Funeral Home is in charge.

Greene, Doris Musgrave
LEXINGTON -- Doris Musgrave Greene, 64, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001. Funeral 2pm Friday, Davidson Funeral Home; burial at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Visitation Thursday 6-8pm Davidson Funeral Home, entrusted with arrangements.

Weaver, Grady Lawson
LEXINGTON -- Mr. Grady Lawson Weaver, 70, died March 27, 2001. Funeral is 11 am Friday, St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are by Piedmont Funeral Home.

Caldwell, J. B.
LINCOLNTON -- Mr. J. B. Caldwell, 82, of 2553 Pickwick Place, died March 28, 2001 at Lincoln Nursing Center.

His funeral service will be 2 pm Friday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Caldwell was born on June 15, 1918 in Lincoln County to the late Frank and Leola Pierce Caldwell. He was a salesman in the automobile industry.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Caldwell of the home; one son, Buck Walters Caldwell and wife, Janet, of Charlotte; one daughter, Judy Caldwell Shuford and husband Marty, of Lincolnton; one sister, Polly Beal of Monroe; seven brothers, Alvin Caldwell, Sloan Caldwell, Elliott Caldwell, Kemp Caldwell, all of Lincoln, L. P. Caldwell of Maiden, Ray Caldwell of Spartanburg, and Glenn Caldwell of Gastonia; two granddaughters, Meredith Shuford of Lincolnton, and Holly Shuford of Raleigh; and one grandson, Jae Caldwell of Tega Cay, SC.

Memorials may be made to Boger City Baptist Church, 2201 E. Main St., Lincolnton, NC 28092, or Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar St., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Pendleton, Janice Mosteller
LINCOLNTON -- Mrs. Janice Mosteller Pendleton, 60, of Sugar Hill, GA and formerly of Lincolnton, died March 24, 2001.

A graveside service will be 1 pm Saturday at Hollybrook Cemetery with Reverend Bill Pendleton and Reverend Greg Mosteller officiating.

Mrs. Pendleton was born on March 5, 1941 in Lincoln County. She was preceded in death by her father, Everette Mosteller and a son, James Christopher Pendleton. She was a retired property manager.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Pendleton of Georgia; one son, Mike Pendleton of Buford, GA; her mother, Irene Reep Mosteller of Lincolnton; three brothers, Jerry Mosteller and Phil Mosteller, both of Lincolnton, and Gene Mosteller of Isleta, NM; two sisters, Pam Mosteller of Lincolnton, and Vivian Billings of Duluth, GA; as well as two grandchildren, Colin Pendleton of Buford, GA, and Carman Pendleton of Statesboro, GA.

Warlick Funeral Home is in charge.
