Turbyfill, Leda Robinson
MOORESVILLE -- Mrs. Leda Robinson Turbyfill, 93, formerly of Oak Street, Mooresville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Genesis Eldercare, Mooresville. Born on December 13, 1907, in Iredell County, she was a daughter of the late Cliff and Bertha Harwell Robinson. Mrs. Turbyfill was a homemaker. She was a member of McKendree Chapel United Methodist Church, Mooresville. Mrs. Turbyfill was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Byers Turbyfill; son, William Sloan Turbyfill; brothers, Troy, Emily, Aubrey, and Lewis Turbyfill; and sisters, Antha Howard, Connie Turbyfill, and Della Armstrong.
She is survived by sisters, Effie R. Turbyfill, of Mooresville and Ozelle R. Torrence of Blacksburg, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, March 30, 2001, at McKendree Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mooresville, with Rev. Robert C. Silber officiating. Memorials may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Fund, 705 East Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.

Lilly, Lillian Frances Hice
SNELLVILLE, GEORGIA -- Lillian Frances Hice Lilly, age 87, of Snellville, Ga, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 31, 2001 at Union Baptist Church, 1945 Ratchford Road in York, SC. Rev. Alan Price will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law James W. and Shirley Lilly of Snellville, Ga; sister Maude Mullis of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Brent Lilly of Dallas, Tx, Brian Lilly of Loganville, Ga, and Beth Lilly Mulherin of Atlanta, Ga; and great-grandchildren, Allen, Lynda and Katelyn Lilly.
Mrs. Lilly retired in 1982 from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing where she worked for 23 years. After moving to Snellville, she was a dedicated volunteer at Emory Eastside Medical Center and a member of Snellville United Methodist Church.

McLeod, Linda
YORK -- Mrs. Linda McLeod, 87, born September 14, 1913 in Claxton, Georgia, passed away on March 26, 2001. As a three year resident of White Oak Manor, York, S.C., Linda had recently experienced a period of declining health.
Mrs. McLeod's passage was preceded by that of her father, John Norton Smith and her mother, Minnie Maude Smith. Her sisters, Lahoma Carlson, Maxine Barefoot, and her brothers, Marcus and Wallace Smith preceded her as did her husband, Harry.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Tine Renea Miller of Battle Ground, Washington, and sisters, Mrs. Corinne S. Molter of Lake Wylie, S.C., Mrs. Hilda S. Lee of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Lillian Johnson of Boone, N.C.
Linda is remembered for her always cheerful attitude and strength of character.
A memorial service at Woodlawn Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C., will be conducted by her pastor, Rev. Earl Pennell, 1 p.m., March 30, 2001, followed by a period of visitation.
In lieu of flowers, Linda would prefer those wishing to do so, make such remembrances to the Woodlawn Baptist Church General Fund.

Floyd Kenneth Milem
YORK -- Mr. Floyd Kenneth Milem Sr., 71, of 1778 Sutton Springs Rd. died March 26, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. James Barnes and Rev. Harold Walters officiating.
Mr. Milem was a native of Kannapolis. He was a retired truck driver with moss Trucking in Charlotte. He was the former owner of Parkwood Appliance Services and formerly worked at the Cannon Mills Plant #1 finishing department in Kannapolis. He was former treasurer of the Parkwood Sanitary District. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.
Mr. Milem was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Director and teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Greene Milem of the home; two sons, Floyd "Ken" Milem Jr. and Keith H. Milem, both of York; two daughters, Cassandra M. Torrence of York and Capricia M. Fox of Smyrna, SC; two brothers, Ray Milem and Marvin Milem, both of Kannapolis; his sister, Dorothy M. Branham of China Grove; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Anderson, Alice
Mrs. Alice Anderson, 77, of 9040 Feldbank Dr. died March 27, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday at A.S. Grier Memorial Chapel with Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating and Bishop Gladys Holloway and Rev. Joann Anderson assisting. Interment will be in Charlotte Memorial Garden.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Hidden Manna E.C.C., #1 church where she was mother of the church and many adopted children.
Survivors include her sons, Johnny Anderson of Greenwood, SC and Rev. Calvin Anderson of Ware Shoals, SC; daughters, Mrs. Gracie Calhoun of Greenwood, SC, Miss Dorothy Anderson, Bishop Gladys Holloway, Mrs. Cheryl Jones, Mrs. Susan Burrell, Mrs. Margaret Kimble, all of Charlotte; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the residence.

Barnette, Tommy
Mr. Tommy Barnette, Jr., 35, of 2125 Breezewood Drive, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be at 3pm Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Cabarrus County, NC with visitation beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. James Milton will officiate.
Mr. Barnette was a construction worker and a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School.
He is survived by daughter Alisa Barber; son Aaron Barber; father Tommy Barnette, Sr.; sisters Diana Davis, Jacqueline McRae and Delores Gray, all of Charlotte.

Cafiero, Charles A.
Charles A. Cafiero, 83, formerly of East Northport, Long Island and a resident of Charlotte for 8 years, died Thursday, March 29, 2001.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway with Rev. Msgr. John McSweeney, officiant. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30-11:00 AM.
Mr. Cafiero was a resident of East Northport, NY for 32 years and for 25 years had been employed by the New York Daily News. He had been a member of the Italian-American Club in Astoria, NY and the Newspaper and Mail Deliverers Union of New York City and Vicinity. Mr. Cafiero served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa DiGaudio Cafiero and children, Charles Eric and Rita, all of New York.

Gabriel, Odessa Wilson
Mrs. Odessa Wilson Gabriel, 92, died March 27, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral is 3 pm Sunday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Huntersville, with the Reverend Byron Davis officiating. Interment will be in Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3 pm Sunday prior to the service at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gabriel is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nettie A. Morrison of Charlotte; four sisters, Mrs. Alberta Alexander of Charlotte, Mrs. Annie Lou Davidson, Mrs. Mazella Graham and Mrs. Louise W. Connor, all of Huntersville; two brothers, Mr. Hurdle Wilson and Mr. Billy Ray Wilson, both of Huntersville; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Hagler, Allen Thomas
Allen Thomas Hagler, 85, of Charlotte, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral is 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 2, 2001, at McEwen funeral service, Charlotte Chapel, with the Reverend Leland Stephens and the Reverend Bill Wright officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hagler was born May 13, 1915, in Allen Section of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, a son of the late George Thomas Hagler and Fannie Munson Hagler. He was a 1933 Graduate of Tech High School, and had retired from the Charlotte Fire Department in 1980 as a Captain at Station 15, after 39 years of service to the department. He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, Past Master of Joppa Lodge #530, A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, York Rite Bodies, a lifetime member of Oasis Temple of the Shrine, 33rd Degree Mason, honorary member of Meridian Lodge and Hejaz Temple, and the Tripsters of the Shrine. Mr. Hagler was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille O. Hagler, in 1995 and a daughter, Helen (Sue) Norville, in 1963.
Surviving are his children, Hugh Hagler and wife, Janice Hagler, of Charlotte, Larry Hagler and wife, Brenda Hagler, of Charlotte, Barbara Little and husband, Harold Little, of Marshville, NC, and Jim Hagler and wife, Faye Hagler, of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wiley Hagler of Pinehurst, NC, George Hagler of Sanford, NC, and Calvin Hagler, of Charlotte; and sisters, Dolly DeRosa, of Massapequa, NY, Gladys Davis, Juanita Plyler and Lucille Austin, all of Charlotte.
