Mr. Mario Jackson, 26, died March 29, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Beasley Funeral Home is in charge.

Kiser, Hill A.
Mr. Hill A. Kiser, 47, died March 29, 2001 in Concord, NC.

Services will be held at 3 pm Sunday at King's Funeral Home Chapel in Charlotte. Interment will follow at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends on today at the home of Mr. Kiser's sister, 3501 Autumn Ridge Drive, Charlotte, from 8-9 pm, and on Sunday beginning at 2:30 pm until time for the service, at King's Funeral Home.

Mr. Kiser attended the public schools in Charlotte. After service in the United States Marine Corps, he was self employed, and had worked for Able Body Temporary Service for the past two years. Known as `Little Hill`, he was a kind, easy-going person who made friends easily. He will be truly remembered and missed by many.

He is survived by his father, James Kiser of Harrisburg, NC, and mother, Mattie Kiser of Concord, NC; son, Little James of Concord; grandfather, Elton Gunn; one sister, Sandra Pride and husband, Ronnie; one niece, Monteria; and one nephew, Ronnie II, all of Charlotte; and a host of other relatives and friends.

King's Funeral Home of Charlotte is serving Mr. Kiser's family.

Littlejohn, Nathan
Mr. Nathan Littlejohn, 34, died March 29, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Beasley Funeral Home is in charge.

Simpson, Flossie H.
Mrs. Flossie H. Simpson, of 2329 Bancroft Street, Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at her residence. She was born November 13, 1922 in Great Falls, SC to the late Will and Alberta Hall House. Funeral services will be held 1pm Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church, 2230 Bancroft Street, Charlotte, NC. with visitation beginning at the church at 12:00 noon. Interment will be held at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by four daughters, Ella Foster, Joan Simpson, Bernice Williamson, all of Charlotte, and Betty Leary from Chicago; and one son, Lawrence (Jody) Simpson of Charlotte.

Family Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.

Spencer, Jane Huffman
Jane Huffman Spencer, 85, of Huntersville, died Friday, March 30, 2001. Memorial service 7pm Tuesday, April 3, Davidson United Methodist Church. Raymer Funeral Home is serving the family.

Williams, Ms. Lillie Mae
Ms. Lillie Mae Williams, 65, of 1210 Kennon Street, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at Carolina Medical Center. Funeral services will be on 4pm Saturday, April 1st at Parkwood Institutional C.M.E. Church, Charlotte with burial at Beatties Ford Memorial Park, Huntersville. Rev. Rayfield Metcalf, Pastor, will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-4pm at the church.

Ms. Williams was born in Cleveland County and was retired from her employment at Carolinas Medical Center. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Harrisburg, NC, and a member of the Helping Hand Club.

She is survived by sons Ronald C. Williams and Richard A. Williams, both of Charlotte; daughters Elizabeth Williams and Janice Howard, both of Atlanta, GA; sister Betty Jean Williams Robinson of Charlotte; 4 grandchildren, Reginald Williams, Omar Cunningham, Vivian Howard, and Tiffany Williams; great-grandson Cordarryl Fuetick; nephews Anthony Robinson and Melvin Robinson; and niece Brenda Robinson.

Charlotte Mortuary Funeral Home is serving the family.

Butler, Lula M.
ALBEMARLE -- Mrs. Lula M. Butler, 66, died March 27, 2001.

Funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Stanley Gardens of Memory. Visitation is 12:30-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Butler was born in 1934, daughter of the late Sim and Queen Ella McEachin Brown. She attended the public schools of Scotland County. She was a member of Friendship Movement Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Butler.

Survivors include her sons, Claude Butler Jr. of Washington, DC, Henry Butler of Statesville, Demetrois Butler of Albemarle, and Dares Butler of China Grove; daughters, Mrs. Gloria Inabinet of Mooresville, Mrs. Nakolai Evans of Chesterfield, Mrs. Valarie Stanback of Sherrills Ford, and Mrs. Rosalind Melton of Cottonville; three sisters; one brother; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

White, Flora Ellis
BLACKSBURG -- Mrs. Flora Ellis White, 81, died Thursday, March 29, 2001. Funeral 2pm Sunday, Broad River Baptist Church; burial at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation Saturday night 7-8:30pm White Columns-Blacksburg, entrusted with plans.

Miller, Flossie Church
BOONE -- Mrs. Flossie Church Miller, 93, died March 30, 2001. Funeral is 2 pm Sunday at First Baptist Church. Visitation is 7-9 pm tonight at Hampton funeral service.

McCrory, Frank Austin
CAYCE -- Mr. Frank Austin McCrory, 76, died March 29, 2001.

Funeral is 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of West Columbia with Dr. Lonnie H. Shull Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Dixon Family Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas Whitener, Paul Hicks, Ernie Lawhorn, J.R. Felts, Jeep Rogers and Charles Kelly.

Born in McAdams, MS, Mr. McCrory was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and May Smith McCrory. He spent his youth in McAdams, MS, and later settled in Winston-Salem, NC. He moved to Cayce in 1968. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia and, prior to his illness, enjoyed teaching Sunday School there.

Mr. McCrory enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp on Feb. 1, 1944. He was a tailgunner (Armorer Gunner) on the B-24 Bomber. He served with the 458th Bomb Group of the Mighty 8th Air Force and flew 21 missions during WWII. He was a staff sergeant and received the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the CTO ribbon and was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 1, 1945.

Mr. McCrory was a graduate of Bowling Green University in Kentucky. He was a member and former President of the Columbia Sertoma Club. He was also active for many years with the YMCA of Columbia. He was retired from McCrory Construction Company in Columbia.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda McCrory Grooms of Charlotte, NC and Donna McCrory Dixon of Tallahassee, FL; a son, Frank McCrory Jr. of Cayce; two brothers, Marvin L. McCrory of Columbia and Donald McCrory of Pickens, MS; two sisters, Alice McCrory of Kosciusko, MS and Mrs. Nellie Gregory of Kosciusko, MS; three grandchildren, Allyne McCrory, Marla Dixon and Joseph Grooms III (J.R.).

He was preceded in death by sisters, Katie Huff, Margaret McCrory; and a brother, Roseman "Mac" McCrory.

Tarleton, Viola Wallace
CHERAW -- Mrs. Viola Wallace Tarleton, 88, died Thursday, March 29, 2001. She was born in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late Jim P. and Ellen Stafford Wallace. She was a retired nurse, who worked for Chesterfield General Hospital and Cheraw Nursing Home. Mrs. Tarleton was married to the late Walter B. Tarleton.

Funeral services will be held 2pm Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Tarleton is survived by sons Walter M. Tarleton and wife, Judy, Kenneth J. `K.T.` Tarleton and wife, Frances, and Alvin D. `BoBo` Tarleton and wife, Barbara, all of Cheraw, SC; daughter Margaret Helen Jones and husband, Henley, of Cheraw; brother William D. `Tee Wee` Wallace and wife, Josephine, of Cheraw; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mauney, Bessie Mae
CHERRYVILLE -- Mrs. Bessie Mae Mauney, 92, died March 30, 2001 at Carolina Care Center.

funeral service is 3 pm Sunday at Shady Grove Baptist Church, with the Reverend Phil Ditz and the Reverend Tom Witherspoon officiating. Mrs. Mauney will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to service. Interment will be in the City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm today at Carpenter's Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, 104 Moose St, Cherryville.

A daughter of the late Rolandus and the late Etta Sellers Mauney, Mrs. Mauney was born in Gaston County. Mrs. Mauney was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Cherryville, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Noah M. Mauney, and one son, James Robert Mauney.

Mrs. Mauney is survived by her five sons, Noah Lee `Pete` Mauney and his wife, Doris, Everette Frank Mauney and wife, Lucille, William Howard Mauney and wife, Mary Jane, all of Cherryville, Thomas Lewis Mauney and wife, Evelyn, of Shelby, and John Lloyd Mauney of Cherryville; one daughter, Margie Homesley and husband, Don, of Cherryville; 13 grandchildren, Mark and Dawn Mauney, Ann and Jeff Davis, Barbara McDaniel, Dan Mauney, James L. and Jennifer Mauney, Donna Sue and Mark Shellmon, Matt and Heather Mauney, Lori and Dale Gates, Caroline and Lance Frady, Jennifer and Jon Abernathy, Joy Lynn and Mark Peterson, Karen and Brian Prevatte, and Jonathan Alan Mauney; as well as 16 great grandchildren.

Roquet, Helene Marie
CHESTER -- Mrs. Helene Marie Roquet, 86, died March 29, 2001 at Chester County Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Monterey, CA.

Born in Oelwein, IA, Mrs. Roquet was the daughter of the late Henry and Emma Hall Lenius. She was a graduate of Upper Iowa University, she was of the Methodist faith and was a School Teacher for over 45 years in Iowa and California.

Survivors include her two sons, Alan Roquet of Monterey, CA, and Gary Roquet of Norco, CA; one daughter, Arla Roquet Carter of Chester; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence Rathburn of San Marcos, CA, and Marjorie Mapes of Canton, MI.

CONCORD -- James Edward Clay, Jr., 57, died March 29, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday at East Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home at Concord.

DENTON -- Mr. Ray `Buck` Cook, 68, died Friday, March 30, 2001. Funeral 2pm Sunday, Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel; visitation 6:30-8pm Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton, to whom arrangements are entrusted.

Allison, Robert Arthur `Rip`
GASTONIA -- Mr. Robert Arthur `Rip` Allison, 68, died March 26, 2001. Funeral is 1 pm today, Wright Funeral Home Chapel, York, SC; burial in Gaston Memorial Park. Wright Funeral Home of York is in charge.

Richardson, Mary Elizabeth Baldwin
GASTONIA -- Mary Elizabeth Baldwin Richardson, 84, of 2421 Lynn Drive, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at her residence.

Funeral is 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethea Methodist Church, Bessemer City, with Rev. Marsha Joyner officiating. Burial will be in Westview Gardens, Bessemer City. Pallbearers will be Eric Richardson, Johnny Richardson, Scott Richardson, Steven Richardson, Donald Richardson, Jr. and Gary Stiles. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at Greene funeral service, Westside Chapel.

Born January 8, 1917 in Gaston County, Mrs. Richardson was the daughter of the late J.P. & Bertha Chloe Stroup Baldwin, wife of the late Silas W. Richardson, and sister of the late James, Loy & Franklin Baldwin. She was a member of Bethea Methodist Church, Bessemer City and Woodman of the World #1286.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert & Beulah Richardson of Gastonia, James & Carolyn Richardson of Kings Mtn., Jerry & Teresa Richardson of Gastonia, Donald & Judy Richardson of Bessemer City, and Junior Inez of Bessemer City; daughter, Mary Frances Richardson Stiles of Bessemer City; brothers, Evan & JoAnna Baldwin of Baltimore, MD, Howard & Bobbie Baldwin of Dallas, NC; sisters, Dorothy Thornburg of Bessemer City, and Bertha Baldwin Brafford of Bessemer City; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Ward, Louise L.
GASTONIA -- Mrs. Louise L. Ward, 76, of 2065 Lyon St. died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at Belair Health Care.

Mrs. Ward was a native of Covington, VA, daughter of the late James Howard and Elizabeth Lipps, wife of the late William Allen "Bill" Ward, sister of the late Melvin Lipps and Mrs. Phil Burks.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William H. and Ann F. Ward of Kings Mtn.; brother, Rev. Billy Lipps of Houston, Texas, and Bobby Lipps of Norfolk, VA; sister, Mrs. Miles "Helen" Eller of Clifton Forge, VA, and Mrs. M.B. "Ruth" Bridgett of Lynchburg, VA; and grandchildren, William Thorton Ward and Claire Louise Mahan Ward of Elizabeth City, NC.

A 3:00 P.M. Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Peace Moravian Church, 6301 Park South Dr., Charlotte, NC.

Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be private.
