HENRIETTA -- Mr. Donald Thomas Short, 64, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Rutherford Hospital. He was a native of Rutherford County, NC and was the son of the late Pearlie Short Whisnant. He was the widower of Peggy James Short. He was a US Navy Veteran. He was retired from PPG Industries.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Harris Baptist Church by The Rev. George Whitmire. BUrial will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Harrelson Funeral Home.

He is survived by his brother & sister-in-law, Gerald & Diane Short, Henrietta, NC; stepdaughters, Mrs. Sheila Jolley, Denver, NC & Mrs. Sylvia Bostic, Polkville, NC; fiance, Ann Lovelace, Harris, NC; niece, Tanya Walker & great niece, Shala Walker both of Henrietta, NC.

Pallbearers will be Rex Shehan, Larry, Jeffery & Junior Arrowood, Wayne Jones, Danny McCraw, Jeff Frazier.

Little, Annie Mae Bolick
HICKORY -- Mrs. Annie Mae Bolick Little, 94, died Sunday, April 1, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Drum Funeral Home.

Conley, Robert
HIGH SHOALS -- Mr. Robert Conley, age 75, died Saturday, March 31, 2001. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Ebony & White's funeral service.

Huffman, Lou Ella Heavner
ICARD -- Lou Ella Heavner Huffman, 70, died March 31, 2001. Funeral is 3 p.m. Monday at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. Heritage funeral service of Valdese is in charge of arrangements.

Carlton, Bruce P.
JEFFERSON -- Bruce P. Carlton, 51, died March 31, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sutton Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Sutton Funeral Home.

Turcotte, Juanita Sifford
KANNAPOLIS -- Juanita Sifford Turcotte, age 73, died April 1, 2001 at her home. Graveside service is 3 p.m. Tuesday at Carolina Memorial Park. Whitley's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kiser, Melton
KINGS MOUNTAIN -- Melton Kiser, age 89, resident of 108 Cleveland Ave., Kings Mountain, NC died March 31, 2001 at Cleveland regional Medical Center, Shelby, NC. He was a native of Cleveland Co., NC and son of the late William Wesley and Hennretta White Kiser. He was also preceded in death by son, Royce Kiser. He was retired owner of the Silver Villa, Kings Mountain, NC.

Survivors are wife, Janet King Kiser, Kings Mountain, NC; son, Horace Kiser, Mocksville, NC; daughter, Amelia Whitesides and husband Dan of Shelby, NC; brothers, Wesley Kiser, Kings Mountain, NC and Fred Kiser, of Kings Mountain, NC; special friends, Gail Garrett, Jack Stringfellow, and Larry Stringfellow; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside service is 3 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 at Mountain Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Sorrells officiating.

Visitation is 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, NC.

Interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC.

Memorials may be made to White Oak Manor, Activites Dept., 716 Sipes St., Kings Mountain, NC 28086.

Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home, Inc., Kings Mountain, NC.

Nease, Edgar `Eddie' H.
LAKE JUNALUSKA -- Edgar `Eddie' H. Nease, III, 50, died Saturday, March 31, 2001 at this home. He was the a native of Buncombe County and was the son of The Reverend Dr. Edgar H. Nease, Jr. and Marianna Caldwell Nease, of Lake Junaluska.

He graduated from Central High School, High Point, NC and attended Duke University and was in Insurance Sales.

In addition to his parents, Eddie is survived by a sister, Marilynda M. Nease, of Richmond, Virginia.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at Clyde Central United Methodist Church, where he was a member. The Reverend Christopher Westmoreland, Robert Little and John Christy will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 and to Clyde Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 8, Clyde, NC 28721.

Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.

Bigham, Dorothy Maulden
LANDIS -- Mrs. Dorothy Maulden Bigham, 83, died Saturday. Funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Jackie Denise Cox, 25, died March 30, 2001. Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Monday at Boles Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.

LENOIR -- Clyde Coffey, 72, died April 1, 2001. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Pendry's Funeral Home.

Fulp, Joan Huff Bivens
LEXINGTON -- Joan Huff Bivens Fulp, 68, died Sunday. Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Visitation is 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home.

Parker, A.C. `Buddy'
LINCOLNTON -- Mr. A.C. `Buddy' Parker, 70, of 917 East Catawba Street, Lincolnton, NC, died March 31, 2001.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David E. Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Parker was born June 9, 1930 in Cleveland County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Worth `Bill' Parker and Bessie Mae Hamrick Parker, and his wife, Maebell Capps Parker. He was an auto repairman for Withers Body Shop.

He is survived by 4 sons: Ricky Parker and Tony Parker of Lincolnton, NC; Dennis Parker of Gastonia, NC; A.C. Parker, Jr. of Kings Mountain, NC; one daughter, Linda Parker Elliot of Catawba, NC; 2 brothers: Clyde Parker of Shelby, NC; Billy Parker of Polkville, NC; 5 sisters, Beatrice Greene, Barbara Black, and Shirley Edwards of Shelby, NC; Jane Snipes of Fallston, NC; and Mary Rogers of Boiling Springs, NC; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Griffin, Bessie Hunt
MONROE -- Mrs. Bessie Hunt Griffin, 94, died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Morningside Assisted Living Center, Georgetown, SC. Mrs. Griffin was born February 9, 1907, daughter of the late Evans and Bessie Bryson Hunt. Funeral services will beheld Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. 5400 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212. Her husband Leonard Griffin and a son Harold Griffin preceded Mrs. Griffin in death. A son Ronald Griffin of Pawleys Island, SC; three sisters Viola Norris of Belton, SC, Racine Alewine of Anderson, SC and Sara Faust of Greewood, SC; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren survive her. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Gordon funeral service is caring for the Griffin family.

Patterson, Cassie Lillie Mae Stewart
MONROE -- Cassie Lillie Mae Stewart Patterson, 91, died March 31, 2001. Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. Boyd Stokes & Rev. Matthew Burton. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

Mrs. Patterson was a native of Forsyth County, NC and a homemaker. She had worked in the cafeteria at Lindley Park School and in the Canteen at Randolph Hospital. She volunteered as a Gray Lady at Randolph Hospital and with the local Red Cross for many years. Mrs. Patterson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Asheboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Mack Patterson and her son, George Mack Patterson.

Survivors are daughters & sons-in-law, Sarah & Bill Garman, of Chesapeake, VA and Martha & Irvin Boaz, of Houston, TX; son & daughter-in-law, Bob & Lou Patterson of Monroe, NC; daughter-in-law, Jane Patterson of Eden, NC; 13 grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 224 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203; or to Central United Methodist Church, 801 South Hayne Street, Monroe, NC 28112.

Puckett, Bonita Calloway
MOORESVILLE -- Bonita Calloway Puckett, 68, of Institute St., Mooresville died Saturday, March 31, 2001 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

Born April 22, 1932 in Savannah, GA, she was the daughter of the late Boyce and Viola Jordan Calloway. She was a retired weaver for Bridgeport Fabrics, Davidson. She was also a member of Missionary Methodist Church, Mooresville where she taught Sunday School.

A son, Randall Wayne Puckett, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbern Lloyd Puckett whom she married January 7, 1950; children, Edmond Puckett and wife, Betty of Troutman, Wanda Joyce Bordeaux of Mooresville and Douglas Allen Puckett and wife, Elizabeth of Mooresville; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randall Macon officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.

Memorials may be made to Missionary Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 991, Mooresville, NC 28115.

The family of Mrs. Puckett is being served by Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.

Anderson, Wilhemina Rockett
MORGANTON -- Wilhemina Rockett Anderson, 86, died March 31, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Lenoir. Visitation will follow the memorial service.

Morris, Bessie Inez Huffstetler
MT. HOLLY -- Mrs. Bessie Inez Huffstetler Morris, 90, of Timberland Drive, died March 31, 2001 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Rockingham, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Laura Elizabeth Teague Huffstetler. Mrs. Morris was retired from Acme Spinning of Belmont, a member of Goshen Free Will Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Merry Hearts and Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Earl James Morris, three brothers: William Gurney, Bobby, and Gonzolee Huffstetler, and a sister: Zenola `Bud' Baker.

Survivors include a daughter: Betty Ann Parrott of the home, a brother: Melvin Huffstetler of Mt. HOlly, North Carolina, a sister: Ruby Broome of Mt. Holly, North Carolina, two grandchildren: Jack Parrott and wife Millie of Stanley, North Carolina, Debbie O'Neal and husband Jeff of Mt. Holly, North Carolina, six great-grandchildren: Russell, Wesley, and Devin O'Neal all of Mt. Holly, North Carolina, Chad, Josh, and Taylor Parrott all of Stanley, North Carolina, family friends: Geraldine Deal of Bessemer City, North Carolina, and Helen Hollar of Mt. Holly, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 2, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Goshen Free WIll Baptist Church with the Rev. William H. Calvert officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to: Goshen Free Will Baptist Church 1300 W. Catawba Ave. Ext. Mt. Holly, North Carolina 28120 or to: American Heart Association 1229 Greencliff Suite 109, Charlotte, North Carolina 28204.

ROCK HILL -- Mr. James R. Craven, 69, died April 1, 2001. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle, NC.

Yandle, Sam
ROCK HILL -- Mr. Sam Yandle, 81, died Saturday at Piedmont Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1920 in Union County, son of the late Warren Clyde and Lillie Wilkerson Yandle, he was a retired Manager with Harris Teeter Company. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the McEwen Colonial Chapel in Monroe. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Survivors include two daughters: Marsha Nelson and husband Conley of Charlotte, NC, Elaine Lavender and husband Richard of Rock Hill, SC, three grandchildren, Jason Lavender, Kevin Lavender, Randy NElson, two brothers, three sisters, a very special friends, Carrie Jenkins of Pageland, SC, Mr. Yandle was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Broome Yandle and a grandson: Brian Nelson.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Monday at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe.

ROCKINGHAM -- Nellie Pence Crawford died Sunday, March 25, 2001. Memorial service is 3 p.m. Tuesday at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour before service at funeral home.

Paul, Carrie L.
ROCKINGHAM -- Carrie L. Paul, 63, died March 31, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial in Zion Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at Watson-King Funeral Home.
