Boyd, Thomas Merle `Scott`
INDIAN TRAIL -- Mr. Thomas Merle `Scott` Boyd, 59, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews. He is survived by his son, Scot Merle Boyd, of Seattle, Washington, and his ex-wife, Kathryn, of Indian Trail. Burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home.

Caudle, William Anderson
LINCOLNTON -- Mr. William Anderson Caudle, 90, of 153 Clark Creek Rd. died April 2, 2001.

Funeral is 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Carpenter and Rev. Marty Caudle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Caudle was born in Lincoln County on June 12, 1910. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Florence Cathy Caudle; his wife, Edith Mull Caudle; and a daughter, Miss Evelyn Blanche Caudle. Mr. Caudle was a retired supervisor with Excel Textile Supplies.

Survivors include his sons, Billy Caudle of Maiden and Charles Ray Caudle of Lincolnton; two daughters, Mrs. Marlene Trull of Charlotte and Mrs. Carolyn Beam of Lincolnton; one brother, David Caudle of Lincolnton; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Carter of Lincolnton, Mrs. Virginia Schronce of Charlotte, and Mrs. Margie Lineberger of Denver; eight grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist church Memorial Garden, 200 Bethel Church Rd., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

The family will be at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Beam, 1019 Park Circle, Lincolnton.

Warlick Funeral Home, Lincolnton is in charge.

Shupe, Ella Kate Goodman
MARION, VA -- Ella Kate Goodman Shupe, 102, died March 31, 2001. Funeral was 2 p.m. Monday at Bradley's Funeral Home. Interment was in Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat.

Harrell, Pauline Sitton
MORGANTON -- Pauline Sitton Harrell, 93, died March 31, 2001. Funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Graveside service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Burke Memorial Park. Sossoman Funeral Home is in charge.

Howser, Frances Henderson
MYRTLE BEACH -- Frances Henderson Howser, 89, died April 1, 2001. Arrangements are incomplete. McMillan-Small Funeral Home is in charge.

Pressley, Bonnie Honeycutt
STANLEY -- Bonnie Honeycutt Pressley, 66, of 204 Hunt St. died April 1, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sandy Ford Free Will Baptist Church, Mt. Holly with Rev. Vernon Cope officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Carothers Funeral Home, Stanley.

Mrs. Pressley was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Dolphus and Jessie Bollinger Honeycutt. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Sandy Ford Free Will Baptist Church, Mt. Holly.

Survivors include her husband, John Morrison Pressley; two sons, Ronnie and his wife, Sylvia Pressley of Stanley, and Rickey Pressley of the home; two daughters, Sylvia and Steve Rayfield of Gastonia, and Faye Moore of Stanley; three brothers, Bill Honeycutt of Texas, Andy Honeycutt and Ray Honeycutt, both of Stanley; sister, Doris Iverson of Stanley; six grandchildren, Danny, Jason, Melissa and Ashley Pressley, Samuel Rayfield and Brian Whitley; and one great-grandchild, Ariel Marie Ray.

Carothers Funeral Home, Stanley is serving the Pressley family.

Ervin, Albert Hoyle
STATESVILLE -- Mr. Albert Hoyle Ervin, 84, died Sunday, April 1, 2001. Funeral is 2:00 Wednesday at Triplett United Methodist Church. Visitation is 7-8:30 Tuesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

Bowers, James Benton
WADESBORO -- Mr. James Benton Bowers, 76, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2001 in Union Regional Medical Center in Monroe.

A native of Anson County, he was a son of the late John Fulton and Annie Caudle Bowers, and was born April 5, 1924.

Mr. Bowers was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wadesboro and the Wesley Men's Bible Class. He was employed as a machinist for 23 years with Burlington Hosiery Bill and later retired from Duff Norton in 1989.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Margaret Sikes Bowers and his children, Joyce Bowers of Winston-Salem, Diane Bowers of Durham and Thomas Bowers and wife, Carla of Wingate; his grandsons, Erik and Kyle Bowers; and his sister, Jewel Cox of Lilesville.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Ernest, Conley, Bill, Ted, Erie, June, Charles, and Joe, and two sisters, Mae and Ollie.

Funeral services for Mr. Bowers will be 2:00pm (today) Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at First United Methodist Church, 118 East Morgan Street, Wadesboro, with Dr. Albert Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Wadesboro, NC 28170 or to The Brian Tumor Center at Duke, Room 047, Baker House South Hospital, Trent Drive, Durham, NC 27710.

Farris, Mabel Winnifred
WADESBORO -- Miss Mabel Winnifred Farris, 94, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 in Autumn Care in Marshville.

She was born in Brevard, NC March 13, 1907, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Caroline Elizabeth Harris Farris.

She had worked as a telegraph operator with both Western Union in Mooresville, NC and the Southern Railway System.

Miss Farris was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Batesburg, SC and served as state evangelist in The Church of God of Prophecy in South Carolina for many years. During her ministry, she was recognized as the second highest soul winner world wide.

Funeral services for Miss Farris will be 4:00pm (today) Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at The Church of God of Prophecy in Wadesboro with Rev. Gary Adkins and Rev. Darryl Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Patrick Baptist Church Cemetery in Patrick, SC.

The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the services.

Surviving are her brother and sisters, Joe Farris of Valejo, CA, Mrs. Annie Edwards of Atlanta, GA and Mrs. Ethel Cureton of Polkton.

Memorials may be made to The Church of God Prophecy, Morven Road, Wadesboro, NC 28170.

The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.

Schenavar, Ronald Joseph
YORK -- Mr. Ronald Joseph Schenavar, Jr., 81, died March 29, 2001 at his home.

Funeral services for Mr. Schenavar were held in Trenton, MI, and he was interred in Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI.

Born in Trenton, MI, Ronald was a son of the late Ronald Joseph Schenavar, Sr. and the late Mabel Mexicotte Schenavar. He had retired from his profession of painter, and had also been a member of the V.F.W. in Trenton, MI. Mr. Schenavar was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge in Fort Mill, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Webb Schenavar.

Mr. Schenavar is survived by two sons, Max M. Schenavar of Ft. Mill, SC, and David Allen Schenavar of St. Helen, MI; three daughters, Gale Ann S. Boisvenue and Linda Marie S. Lawhon, both of Trenton, MI, and Dorothy Ann S. Goodman of Taylor, MI; as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Bratton Funeral Home of York is in charge of local arrangements.

Barrett, Donald E.
Mr. Donald E. Barrett, 38, of 2715 Royston Road, Charlotte, N.C., died on Sunday, April 1, 2001 at IHS Health Center.

funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2001 in the A.S. Grier Memorial Chapel with visitation beginning at noon. Interment will follow in Beatties Ford Garden, Huntersville, N.C.

Mr. Barrett was born in Charlotte, attended the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and was employed by Intown Suites as a maintenance employee.

Survivors are sisters, Emogene (Lonnie) Springs and Sherry Barrett; nephews, Shawn Springs and London Springs; nieces, Rhonda Springs, Sonya Springs, Latoya Young, Shaquita Young, Kayla Barrett and Nandi Springs, all of Charlotte; and a host of relatives and friends.Grier funeral service is in charge of arrangements.

Campbell, Roger L.
Mr. Roger L. Campbell, Sr., 77, following a lengthy illness, departed his life peacefully at home April 2, 2001.

A funeral service for Mr. Campbell is scheduled for 11 am Friday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, with the Reverend Doctor Clifford A. Jones, Sr., officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Friday, prior to the service at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Campbell was born July 12, 1923 to the late Lorenzo L. and Erma Bailey Campbell in Harnett County, Lillington, NC. He was the first of four children. He was reared and received his education in Fayetteville, NC where he was a member of Haymount Presbyterian Church. During the boom of the `Shell-Self Finish` home building era, he entered the real estate business where he became one of the top sales persons for several years in the Fayetteville and surrounding areas.

In the early 60's, he moved to Charlotte, NC where he worked with several home construction companies and soon started his own contracting company. A master craftsman in home building and renovation, Roger's work is demonstrated in many beautiful homes and businesses in the Charlotte community.

Roger truly enjoyed life and adventure; he had a special interest in flying, boating, fishing and driving. After retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively. Roger joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees for 25 years. He was a member of the Swanks Social Club, and it was always an enjoyment for him to entertain and fellowship with the members.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and faithful wife, Marian Williams Campbell; three children from a former marriage, Roger L. Campbell, Jr. (Jo Ann), Felisha Campbell Norman (Kendall) of Cincinnati, OH, and Althea Campbell Bargallo (Ramon) of Fayetteville; brother, Lorenzo L. Campbell Jr. (Wilhelmina), of Philadelphia, PA; sister, Mary Campbell Martin (Hoyle); and a brother-in-law, Larry Williams (Theresa). In addition to nine grandchildren, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Long and Son Mortuary Services is serving the Campbell Family.

Carter, Tommie
Mrs. Tommie Carter, 62, of Charlotte, NC, died April 4, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete. Long & Son Mortuary Service is in charge.

Cheney, Charles Vincent
Charles Vincent Cheney, Jr., 64, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles and Eva Moore Cheney, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Cheney was a member and elder of Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church; a member of Catawba Valley Scottish Society, the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem and Burns Society of Charlotte. He was President of Clan Sutherland of North America.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cheney will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001 at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church, 8801 Park Road with the Reverend Augustus E. Succop, III officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in Johnston Hall. Interment will be private for the family.

He is survived by his wife, Avery W. Cheney; sons, Charles David Cheney and his wife, Rebecca, and Robert Vincent Cheney and his wife, Ann; daughter, Laura Cheney Sharpe and her husband, Robin; sister, Sandra C. Pajak, all of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Caitlin Cheney, Erin Cheney and Waightstill Sharpe.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in remembrance of Charles Cheney to Carolinas Transplant Center Fund, Carolinas Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 32861, Charlotte, N.C. 28232.

Cousins, Rodney Eugene
Mr. Rodney Eugene Cousins, of Charlotte, NC, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at the age of 32. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pamela Robertson Cousins; daughters, Miss Shaunte Martinez of the Bronx, NY, Miss Rodneisha Cousins and Miss Ashley Cousins, both of Charlotte; step-daughter, Miss Collena Robertson of Charlotte; his parents, Mr. Jesse Cousins and Mrs. Gloria Hill Cousins; sisters, Mrs. Druisilla Rice of Nathalie, VA and Mrs. Stephanie Reed of Clover, VA; and brothers, Mr. Michael Cousins of Dillwyn, VA and Mr. Maurice Cousins of South Boston, VA.

Funeral services and interment will be held Friday, April 6 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Clover, VA. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Cousins, 1094 Mosley Ferry Road, Clover.

Daniel, Edna Smith
Mrs. Edna Smith Daniel age 90, died April 3, 2001 at the Huntersville Oaks. A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, at Forest Lawn West Cemetery with Reverend Bill Prather officiating. Mrs. Daniel was born May 17, 1910 in Gaston County, daughter of the late Fletcher Curtis and Frances Kiser Smith and was a member of Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brothers, R.W. Smith of Florida and Clay Smith of Gastonia, NC. Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by her husband, John Gary Daniel.

Memorials may be made to Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church, 101 S. Hoskins Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28208.
