Dennis, Charles
Mr. Charles Dennis, Sr., 76, of 2108 English Drive, Charlotte, made his transition Monday, April 2, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. The family will receive friends at Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, April 6, from 7-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Zechariah Alexander Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Rollins Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Dennis was a 1987 retiree of Yellow Freight Trucking Company. He is survived by a son, Charles Dennis, Jr., of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Myrtle Dennis McRae and Ella D. Dennis, both of Charlotte; brother David Dennis (Gertrude) of North Charleston, SC; and four grandchildren, all of California. He was predeceased by his wife, Christine Jackson Dennis.

Arrangements are in the care of Alexander Funeral Home.

Dove, Sarah Elizabeth Washam
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Washam Dove, 76, of Cornelius, died April 3, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, a graduate of Davidson High School and worked many years at Belk Brothers. She devoted her life to her family and she was a caring person.

Survivors include a son, Jerry W. Dove, Jr. of Cornelius; daughters, Beverly D. Westmoreland and Judy D. Irvin, both of Huntersville, and Sharon D. Howard of Sherrills Ford; brothers, Bob Washam of Canton, NC, and Ray Washam of Davidson; sister, Frances W. Wilson of Huntersville; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 4 pm Friday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, with Reverend Susan Heafner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 7-8:30 pm at Raymer Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, 3109 Popularwood Court, Suite 125, Raleigh, NC 27604, or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 19600 Zion Street, Cornelius, NC 28031.

Grier, Jessie M.
Mrs. Jessie M. Grier, died April 4, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but have been entrusted to Grier funeral service of Charlotte.

Latham, Jessee H.
Mr. Jessee H. Latham, Jr. 78, of Charlotte died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at the Reddman Road Brian Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

Littlejohn, Nathan Keith
Mr. Nathan Keith Littlejohn 34 of 1721 Finchley Dr., Charlotte, died March 29, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, April 5, 2001 at Canaan Christian Center with Pastor Robyn Gool officiating. Interment will follow in the York Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the church.

He was born in Mecklenburg County a native of Charlotte. He was employed as a General Laborer for Staffing Field.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Forney Littlejohn of the home; three sons, Nathan Keith Lloyd, Nathan Keith Littlejohn Jr. and Justice Natron Littlejohn all of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Naquella Kierra Lloyd of Charlotte, NC and Patrice Nashell Wilson of Greensboro, NC; his mother, Ms. Aileen Littlejohn of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Mr. Kenneth Barnette and James Barnett, both of Charlotte, NC, and Michael Ross of Gastonia; and five sisters, Diana Jackson, Marjorie Barnett, Annette Austin, Peggy Barnett and Patty Littlejohn, all of Charlotte.

Beasley Funeral Home is serving the family.

Morrow, Dennis E. `Ben Down`
Mr. Dennis E. `Ben Down` Morrow, of 2325 Augusta Street, died peacefully Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. Mr. Morrow was born October 5, 1958, in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Herbert Morrow Sr. and the late Lula Morrow Witherspoon. He graduated from Independence High School in 1976 and then actively served as a member of the U.S. Army. His love of God was greatly shown in his daily life. He was an upstanding member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

The viewing of the body will be from noon to 5pm on Friday at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2001 Cummings Avenue, Charlotte. Funeral services will be held 1pm Saturday, April 7, at Macedonia Baptist Church. The body will lie in state from 10am until the time of the service. Dr. Walker will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at noon at the church. Interment will be on Monday, April 9, 2001 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Salisbury.

He is survived by his loving step-father, Earl Witherspoon, Sr., brothers Herbert (Delois) Morrow of Chester, SC, Bernard (Sheila) Morrow, and Earl (Tonia) Witherspoon, all of Charlotte; sisters Doris (Earnest) Monroe of Detroit, Michigan, Veronica Williams of Anniston, Alabama, Patricia G. (Gregory) Albert of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Cherry M. Fuller, Lynn E. Morrow and Mary M. (Reginald) Hardge, all of Charlotte; four aunts; two uncles; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. `Ben Down` will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 1300 Hateras Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28216.

Osborne, Margaret B.
Mrs. Margaret B. Osborne, 74, died April 2, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but have been entrusted to the care of Grier Funeral Home of Charlotte.

Peninger, Ruby Hunt
Mrs. Ruby Hunt Peninger, 80, of Huntersville, NC, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at her residence. Born August 20, 1920 in Jonesboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dr. James Kenneth Hunt and Clydie Sellars Hunt and the widow of Hedrick Martin Peninger. Mrs. Peninger attended Queens College and was a graduate of Peace College. She was an active member of Huntersville Presbyterian Church and did community volunteer work.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Fisher `Boots` Beasley of Concord, NC; grandson, Fisher Martin Beasley of Indian Trail, NC; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Elma Kathryn Bennick of Lenoir, NC.

funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2001 at Huntersville Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Concord, NC. The family will receive from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.

Ruepp, Elisabeth
Elisabeth Ruepp, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2001. She was born July 7, 1923 in Lippstadt, Germany.

She is survived by four sons, Fred Ruepp of Charlotte, NC, F. George Ruepp of Atlanta, Ga, Henry Ruepp of Lauffen, Germany, and Joseph Ruepp of Saratoga Springs, NC; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service is planned. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Charlotte, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.

Sanders, Mary Lee
Mrs. Mary Lee Sanders, 66, died April 4, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but are in the care of Long and Son Mortuary Service of Charlotte.

Sechrest, Christine Jones
Mrs. Christine Jones Sechrest, 91, of Charlotte, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sechrest will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, April 6, 2001, from the Charlotte Chapel of McEwen funeral service, with the Reverend Greg Dickens officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the parlor of the chapel.

Mrs. Sechrest was born February 10, 1910, in McColl, SC, daughter of the late William Ernest Jones and Eunice Wofford Jones. She was a member of Kilgo United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Sechrest is survived by her son, Frank O. Sechrest, Jr., and wife, Kay, of Kernersville, NC; her daughter, Linda S. Thomas, of Charlotte; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are five nieces and one nephew.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Kilgo United Methodist Church, 2101 Belvedere Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Simmons, Aaron Richard Banker
Mr. Aaron Richard Banker Simmons, 28, died April 2, 2001 at his home.

Funeral services are 11 am Friday at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel in Gaffney, SC, with the Reverend Glenn Englehardt officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Thursday at Shuford-Hatcher funeral home.

Mr. Simmons, of the Lutheran faith, was born in Des Moine, IA, and was the former owner/operator of his own cleaning service.

Aaron is survived by his father, Mr. Don Simmons of Des Moine, IA; his mother and stepfather, Mrs. Rita Banker and Mr. Lanny Banker, both of Gaffney, SC; and his two sisters, Mrs. Robin Campbell of Des Moine, IA, and Mrs. Dawn Morris of Charlotte.

Memorials may be sent to the Aaron Simmons Memorial Fund, c/o Rita Banker, 110 Salem Rd., Gaffney, SC 29340.

Stanley-Hagan, Margaret
Dr. Margaret Stanley-Hagan, 51, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away peacefully in her home, Monday, April 2, 2001. She was born to James J. Stanley and the late Elizabeth M. Stanley on December 8, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pa.

A doctoral graduate from the University of Virginia and an alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, teaching was her true passion. Dr. Stanley-Hagan served as Chairperson of the Department of Psychology at U.N.C.C., while dedicating most of her spare time and talents to Summit House of Charlotte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM Friday, April 6, 2001 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, by good friend Msgr. William Pharr celebrant. Entombment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Surviving Dr. Stanley-Hagan to keep her spirit alive are her son, Sean Hagan of Charlotte; her father, James Stanley of Charlotte; her sisters and their families, Susan and Gary Zimmer, and Joshua McCright of River Falls, Wisconsin, and Janet and David Banks with newborn Keely Banks of Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Summit House of Charlotte, 611 Fortune Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28205. Arrangements by McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service Pineville Chapel.

Swinson, Mary Lois
Mary Lois Swinson, 82, of Charlotte and formerly of Hendersonville, NC, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. Arrangements are pending. Carolina Funeral & Cremation Center is entrusted with arrangements.

Hatley, Eldus Blalock
ALBEMARLE -- Eldus Blalock Hatley, 79, died April 3, 2001. Graveside Service is 11 a.m. Friday at Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle.

Ramsey, Charlotte Ann Plumlee
ANDERSON -- Charlotte Ann Plumlee Ramsey, 77, died April 4, 2001. Graveside Service is 3 p.m. today at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson. Visitation is 12:30-2:30 p.m. today at The McDougald Funeral Home.

Gardner, Frieda Ledford
BESSEMER CITY -- Frieda Ledford Gardner, 60, of 230 Lewis Farm Rd. died April 2, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

Graveside service is 1 p.m. Friday Hollywood Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Greene funeral service, Southside Chapel.

Mrs. Gardner was born in Gaston County. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald E. Gardner of the home; son, Tracy E. Gardner of Gastonia; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan K. Salcido of Kings Mountain, Karen Gardner and Ozzy Lopez of Bessemer City; sister, Robin L. Wood of Kings Mountain; and grandchildren, Samantha L. Salcido, Joey E. Gardner and Arron O. Lopez.

Brown, Betty Jo Blades
BOONE -- Mrs. Betty Jo Blades Brown, 61, of Pineola, died March 30, 2001 at Watauga Medical Center. A private memorial service will be held later. Hampton funeral service is in charge.

Greene, Bunnie Hodges
BOONE -- Mrs. Bunnie Hodges Greene, 79, died April 4, 2001 at home. Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
