Cherie Lynne Dublin

Cherie Lynne Dublin, 43, of Nags Head passed away on Aug. 14.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1959 in Franklin, Pa.

She dedicated much of he time to Feline Hope and the Humane Society.

She was very well loved by all who knew her.

Survived by her partner, Martha G. Whitmer; her mother, Patricia Ann Gray; her brother, John Dublin; and her sister, Susan Stone.

A memorial service was held Aug. 23 at Colington United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.

The Cremation Society of Virginia, Virginia Beach, is in charge of arrangements.

Allen Quicksall Fink

Allen Quicksall Fink, 87, died Friday, Sept. 26.

A native of Philadelphia, he was the husband of Dorothy Fink of the home.

He resided in Williamsburg where he worked for 25 years at Colonial Williamsburg before retiring and moving to Kill Devil Hills in 1993.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a member of Duck United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sali Owen of Republic, WA.; and a brother, Harley Fink of Chester Springs, Penn.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Isabel Relief Fund through the Duck United Methodist Church, P.O.B. 8010, Duck Station, NC 27949.

A private memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania.

Twiford's Colony Chapel in Manteo handled arrangements.

Sheldon Alvin "Ace" Gaimel

Sheldon Alvin "Ace" Gaimel, 80, of 1873 Colington Rd., died Thursday, Sept. 4, at Albemarle Hospital.

Born in Colington, he was the son of the late Rayon Decator and Eleanor Meekins Gaimel.

He was a member of Colington United Methodist Church and worked for years at the Avalon and Kitty Fishing Piers.

He loved fishing and NASCAR Winston Cup races.

He is survived by a sister, Evelyn G. Carlisle; nephews, Randall Wiggins, Brent Wiggins, Robbie Beasley, Dwight Beasley, and Kenneth Moore; and nieces, Marilyn Whittington, Cathy Eubanks and Rhonda Swift.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilton Gaimel and two sisters, Stella G. Beasley and Helena G. Moore.

Funeral services were held at Hilltop Cemetery in Colington Sept. 7.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Outer Banks Cancer Support Group, Inc., PO Box 659, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949-0659 or the Baum Center, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948.

Margaret Estelle Gibbs Gard

Margaret Estelle Gibbs Gard, 90, died Friday, Sept. 26 at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Herman and Bertha Tillett Gibbs and the widow of Alton E. Gard, Sr.

Surviving are four daughters, Rachel Twiddy, Myra Twiddy and Arlene Basnight, all of Manns Harbor, and Amy Kelvy of Spruce Pine, N.C.; two sons, Alton Elroy Gard Jr. of Manns Harbor and Alvin Ferrell Gard of Henderson, N.C.; three sisters, Jennie Creef and Inez Gibbs, both of Manns Harbor, and the Rev. Bess G. Hunnings of Durham; one brother, Robert Gibbs of Derry, N.H.; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 29 at Twiford's Colony Chapel in Manteo.

A graveside service was held immediately after at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church or Harborlight Church, both in Manns Harbor, 27953.

Thressa "Happy" Etheridge Garrison

Thressa "Happy" Etheridge Garrison, 79, of the 600 Block of Aragona Blvd, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, at her residence.

Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Emma Melson Etheridge and the widow of Davis S. Garrison, Jr.

She was retired from the Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

She was also a homemaker, a member of the Haygood United Methodist Church and the Powells Point Christian Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Garrison; three sons, Bruce Garrison, Gene Garrison, and Roger Garrison; two sisters, Wilma "Sis" Heilman and Mary "Muffy" Merritt; one brother, Herbert "Bunny" Etheridge; and five grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Powells Point Christian Church with Rev. David Coxson.

Twiford's handled arrangements.

Darlene Markham Gray

Darlene Markham Gray, 46, of Stumpy Point died Sunday, Sept. 7, at her residence.

A native of Pasquotank County, she was the daughter of Elma Quidley Markham of Elizabeth City and the late Ernest Harrell Markham and the wife of James Gray of the residence.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Also surviving are a daughter, Tammy Byrum of Elizabeth City; two step-daughters, Sherry Jeffers and Terry House, both of Smithfield, Va.; four sisters, Linda Robbins of Virginia Beach, Sandra Fix of Charlottesville, Va., Gay Girdlestone of New York, and Lisa Hall of Elizabeth City; five brothers, Michael Markham of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Ronald Markham of Elizabeth City, Donald Markham of Hertford, Douglas Markham of Currituck, and Ray Markham of Alabama; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held today, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Griffith officiating.

Twiford's Memorial Chapel in Elizabeth City is handling arrangements.
