Dorothy Louise Geremia

Dorothy Louise Geremia, 69, died Wednesday, Sept. 24 at a Nags Head medical facility.

Born in Bowling Green, Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Pearl Lacey Carter Noel and the wife of Delio Geremia of the home.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

Also surviving are a daughter, Eva Roach of Kill Devil Hills; two sons, Antonio Geremia of Puerto Rico and Daren Geremia of Nashville; three sisters, Edith Hinson of White Stone, Va., Lillie Brinklow and Rosalee Young, both of Richmond; four brothers, William and Alfred Noel, both of Tennessee; Harvey and Herbert Noel, both of Richmond; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service has not yet been scheduled and the family asks that those who might want to attend to please contact them.

Memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 B. Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.

Twiford's Colony Chapel in Manteo is assisting family with arrangements.

Grace Twiford Golden

Grace Twiford Golden, 82, of Stumpy Point died Monday, Aug. 25, in her residence.

Born in Stumpy Point, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cora Wise Twiford and the wife of Hildred O. Golden.

She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Also surviving is one daughter, Sheila Golden of Stumpy Point.

A celebration of life was held Aug. 29 in the Shiloh United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Jennings and Rev. Tom Clarke officiating.

Burial followed at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church Building or Cemetery Fund, 256 Bayview Drive, Stumpy Point, N.C. 27978.

Twiford's Colony Chapel Manteo is handling arrangements.

Roy Howard Good

Roy Howard Good, 66, of Buxton died Aug. 29 at his residence.

Jesse T. Gordon

Jesse T. Gordon, 75, died Thursday, Sept. 25 at a Nags Head medical facility.

Born in Petersburg, Va., he was the son of the late Jesse T. Gordon Sr. and Nannie Wilkins Gordon and the husband of Mildred Wells Gordon of the home.

He was a lifelong resident of Colonial Heights, Va. and was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church in Disputanta, Va., the American Legion Post 284 and VFW Post 622.

He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Also surviving are one daughter, Wanda G. Davis of Disputanta, Va.; one son, Jerry D. Herke of Millsap, Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred L. Gordon.

A memorial service was held at Twiford's Colony Chapel in Manteo Saturday, Sept. 27 with the Rev. Bob Pitsch officiating.

A second service was held at the Oakland Baptist Church Monday, Sept. 29, with the Rev. Robert Livesay officiating.

Memorial donations may be sent to Oakland Baptist Church Building Fund, 12601 Prince George Dr., Disputanta, Va.

David Howe Lawrence

David Howe Lawrence, 84, died Sept. 8, in Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC.

The son of Harry C. Lawrence and Helen Norbeck Lawrence, he was a longtime resident of the Outer Banks.

He attended public schools in Manteo and New Bern, NC.

After two years at Belmont Abbey College he enlisted in the US Army Air Force for service during World War II and following the war earned his engineering degrees from North Carolina State College.

An engineer and surveyor, he was also engaged actively in real estate and construction, and was one of the original owners of Sea Scape Golf Course.

Following retirement he worked with the Dare County Department of Parks and Recreation.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara L. Wells and Susan R. Lawrence; a step daughter, Julia M. Daniels; one sister, Joan "Joie" Bulluck; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held in the Baum Cemetery Saturday, Sept. 13, with the Rev. Joseph Klaus officiating.

Twiford Funeral Home in Manteo handled arrangements.

Harrison David Leake

Harrison David Leake, 74, of Southern Shores died Friday, Aug. 22 at his residence.

Born in Bristol, Penn., he was the husband of Irma Patterson Leake of the home.

He was a 15-year resident of the Outer Banks, previously living in Manhasset and retired as a teacher of natural sciences at the Manhasset Junior/Senior High School, where he taught for the last 25 years of his career.

He was chairman of the first Education Committee at the Nags Head Nature Conservancy and served on the board of directors for six years.

He worked as a volunteer for Pea Island Nature Preserve, served as president of Audobon, was a federal bird-bander and was a frequent lecturer at local schools and the North Carolina Aquarium on the Roanoke Island.

Also surviving are three daughters, Deborah Ferst of Guilford, CT, Cheri Pain of Nags Head, NC, and Mary Wright of Boulder, CO; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31 at Duck United Methodist Church with Rev. David Clift officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts in memory of H. David Leake be made to Dare County EMS, Attn: Debbie Cowan, POB 1000, Manteo, NC 27954, or Alzheimer's Disease Research, c/o Kathleen Honaker, Director of Development, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburgs, MD 20871.

Andrea McGranahan

Andrea McGranahan, 43, of Duck died suddenly on Fri. Sept. 12, 2003 at her residence.

Mrs. McGranahan was born on April 30, 1960 in Manhatten, NYC.

She moved to the Outer Banks from Conn. in 1991.

Mrs. McGranahan was a graduate of Ridgefield, CT High School and the Katherine Gibbs School.

For the past ten years Mrs. McGranahan served as Office Manager at the Cardiac Rehab Beach Program of the Albemarle Hospital.

She was an active member of the Duck United Methodist Church.

She was the wife of Mr. William S. McGranahan and the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Vito Ninivaggi.

Ms. McGranahan is also survived by her siblings, Mary Cox, James Ninivaggi, Susan Daly and Caroline Schestag; and five nieces and four nephews.

A memorial service was held on Tues. Sept. 16 at Duck United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Duck United Methodist Church Agape Fund, PO Box 8180, Duck Station, NC 27949. Twiford's Colony Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.

She will be remembered by her family as a loving, kind and generous person.
