HAMILTON -- Johnnie Council died April 15, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday at Jones Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Hassell with Elder James Taylor officiating.
A viewing will be held tonight from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at Jones Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by daughters, Lizzie C. Williams, Beulah Peppers, Bertha C. Bailey, Eva Butler, Michelle Wilson, and Nicki Keel; sons, Johnnie L. Council, Milton Howell, Timothy Purvis and Kenneth Purvis; a brother, Samuel Lynch.

JENNIS L. JAMES
MACCLESFIELD -- Jennis Lee James, 76, died Thursday. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
James was preceded in death by two daughters, Vivian Scott and Carolyn Edwards.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Rogister James; daughters, Sue Smith of Conetoe and Rachel James of Greenville; sons, Danny James of Momeyer, Sonny James of Momeyer and Jennis Lee James Jr. of Wilson; sisters, Ruby Manning of Tarboro and Dorothy Pope of Pinetops; a brother, J.D. James of Pinetops; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
ARLANDER CHERRY
OAK CITY -- Arlander Cherry, 48, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Fields Funeral Home, with Rev. Dolberry officiating. Burial will follow in the family Cemetery, Rt. 1, Oak City.
He is survived by two step-children, Malinda and Larry; three sisters, Mandy Thompson, Lillie Peterson and Eunice Spruill of Oak City; a brother, Henry Savage of Oak City.

MAEBELL HINTON COBB
PINETOPS -- Maebell Hinton Cobb, 60, of Apt. 6A Wilshire Apartments, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Pinetops/Tarboro Highway. Burial will follow at Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery in Rocky Mount.
Mrs. Hinton was born and raised in Edgecombe County and was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Willie Cobb of the home; three sons, Matthew Hinton of the home, Gene Hinton and Robert Hinton of Macclesfield; a daughter, Gwendolyn Cobb of Pinetops; two brothers Robert Hinton of Tarboro and Richard Hinton of Sharpsburg; a sister, Rubell Clark of Rocky Mount; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Baker Funeral Home in Tarboro. The family will receive friends at the home of Gwendolyn Cobb, Hilltop Trailer Park in Pinetops.

MARY STALLS MOORE
WILLIAMSTON -- Mrs. Mary Stalls Moore, 85, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore is survived by a son, William Jasper Moore and wife, Lillian Ann Johnson Moore of Tarboro; granddaughter, Jacqueline Johnson Moore of Greenville and grandson, William Mark Moore and wife Laura Fornos Moore of Morrisville.
The family will receive friends form 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 at Biggs Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

DAVID LEROY EDMUNDSON
TARBORO -- David Leroy Edmundson, 54, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jesse Blalock officiating.
Mr. Edmundson is survived by sons, David Barry and Joey Wayne Edmundson of Tarboro; a sister, Kathy Lynn of Tarboro and a brother Lawrence Edmundson of Tarboro.
Family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19.

HOWARD E. KNIGHT
SCOTLAND NECK -- Funeral services for Mr. Howard E. Knight will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Dolberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Willoughby Memorial Gardens in Scotland Neck.
Mr. Knight is survived by his mother, Mattie T. Knight of Scotland Neck; wife, Gloria R. Knight of Scotland Neck; a daughter, Tracie K. Martin of Arlington, Texas; brothers, John H. Knight Jr. of Oxen Hill, Md., Cecil Knight of Upper Marlboro, Md., Cleveland Knight of Scotland Neck and Michael T. Knight of Sumter, S.C.; sisters, Mattie B. Knight of Scotland Neck, Mildred Crowell of Halifax, Emmeline Williams, Hannah Knight and Carolyn Mosley all of Scotland Neck and Karen Ellis of Chester, Va. and three grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 12 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at the church.

LEWIS THOMAS JONES
TARBORO -- Mr. Lewis Thomas Jones, 73 of 1616 West Wilson St., died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at Heritage Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at Cherry Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dancy Cemetery in Princeville.
Mr. Jones was born in Edgecombe County and attended local schools.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Knight Jones of the home; two sons, Crumel Clinton Mooring Jr. of Charlotte and Vernon Freeman of Randallstown, Md.; a daughter, Bobby Penn of Disputanta, Va.; three foster brothers, Theodore Herring of Princeville, Charles Curtis Herring and John Herring both of New York; two foster sisters, Dorothy White and Annie Bell Herring both of Princeville and five grandchildren.
Viewing will be held form 3 to 6 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service at the church.

MINNIE BOTTOMS
Minnie "Vickie" Bottoms, 38, died Monday, April 21, 2003, in Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem Chapel Baptist Church, Leggett. Burial will follow in Dancy Memorial Cemetery, Princeville.
Visitation will be held from 2 - 8 p.m. Friday at Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Whitehead of Tarboro; sons, Royal Bottoms and Rodshaun Bottoms, both of the home; brothers, Keith Bottoms of Charlotte and Eddie Whitehead of Tarboro.
