Maggie L. Everette, 76, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Heritage Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mildred Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Cherry Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Dancy Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by sons, Julius Everette Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Clifton Ray Everette, Ricky McCarty Everette, Lonnie L. Everette and Donnell Everette, all of Princeville; daughters, Dorothy E. Holley of Rocky Mount, Barbara E. Barnes of Tarboro, Maggie E. Bullock of Lindenwold, N.J., Shirley E. Purvis of Princeville, Qwendolyn E. Harris of Florence, S.C., Priscilla E. Oates of the home; a brother, Johnnie Knight Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; 31 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren

BATTLEBORO -- Wendell Wilkins Bazemore, 58, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Leggett Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Dancy Memorial Cemetery, Princeville.
He is survived by a daughter, Trameka Lancaster of the home; wife, Clara Bazemore of Rocky Mount; mother, Maniza Draughn of Eprhin, N.J. and three grandchildren.

Burial will follow in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md.

WILMER L. SHORT
Wilmer Lee Shore, 54, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at Martin Middle School, Tarboro.
Burial will follow in Dancy Cemetery, Princeville.
Short was born in Edgecombe Cemetery and was employed by Bridgestone Firestone Tire Manufacturing in Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Essie Horton Short of Greenville; two sons, Maurice Lloyd of Rocky Mount and Roger Harper of Tarboro; four daughters, Pamela Pettaway of Tarboro, Nicole Short of Atlanta, Ga., Angelea Hines and Sharon Harrington, both of High Point; six brothers, Cullen Short of N.Y., Elmer Short and Carl Short, both of Rocky Mount, Dennis Short of Crisp, Gerald Short and Timothy Short, both of Tarboro; two sisters, Ernestine Taylor of Tarboro and Linda Bryant of Leadenworth, Kan.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 2 - 7 p.m. Saturday at Baker Funeral Home.

SARAH A. S. WILLIAMS
1908-2003
Augusta Sykes Williams, 94, passed gently away Thursday evening, Aug.14, 2003, at Heritage Hospital after a brief illness.
Williams was born on Sept. 1, 1908, in Columbia, North Carolina one of three children of Augustus and Carrie Selby Sykes. There she was a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church and as a young girl played the organ. Upon graduation from East Carolina Teachers College In Greenville, N.C. In 1927, Williams taught In Pollocksville and Greensboro. She taught history and was especially fond of North Carolina History. In 1931 she married
Frederick Alton Williams Sr. of Swan Quarter, N.C., living in Sanford and Windsor, N.C.
In the 1940's Williams made her home in Tarboro as her husband was manager of the Tarboro Hotel, later owner of C & W Equipment Company. Williams and her family were members of Calvary Episcopal Church. She raised her children and helped raise her grandchildren and was a warm and generous lady to friends and neighbors. The colorful stories she told about her beloved Eastern North Carolina will be long remembered by all who know her. She managed her own affairs and lived by herself until the end.
Preceded In death by her husband, Frederick Alton Williams Sr, as well as a brother, Percy Sykes of Columbia, N.C. and sister, Hilda Sykes Reynolds formerly of Wilmington, N.C.
Williams is survived by a daughter, Marcia Williams Sherrod, resident of Chapel Hill, N.C. and a son, Frederick Alton Williams, Jr. of Tarboro, N.C. She was most proud of her four grandchildren, Sonia Sherrod-Gettes, Susan Williams Moore, Marcia Louise Sherrod, and Fredrick Alton Williams III and four great-grandchildren who also survive her.
Also surviving are two nieces, Carrie Ann Sykes Liverman, Hilda Sykes Reynolds, nephews Cleveland Vann Home Sykes, and William R. Reynolds.
The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick A. Williams, Jr. at 1409 East Canal Street .
A funeral and graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 17 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Tarboro.

Velma Slade Brown died Oct. 7, 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Dickens Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Bernice Slade Carney officiating.
Burial will follow in the Slade Family Cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Charles Bernard Brown of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, George Slade of Washington, D.C., Alonzo Slade of Enfield and Joseph Slade of Maryland; five sisters, Martha Braswell of Durham, Doris Rucker of Washington, D.C., Dorothy Slade, Annie Bryant and Bernice Carney all of Maryland; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren
