A graveside funeral for William G. Rogers, 62, of 5660 Durham Rd., who died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Person Memorial Hospital, was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, in the Stephens-Rogers Cemetery by the Rev. William Burns.
Mr. Rogers was a native of Person County.
He was a member of Lea’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Peggy R. Colvin of Wilson and Barbara R. Shell of Greensboro; a niece, Carla A Colvin o f Wilson; a nephew, Hugh F. Colvin of Richmond, Va. and a great-nephew, Nate Colving of Richmond.
Memorials may be made to Lea’s Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Ivey Pleasant Jr., 535 Ivey Pleasant Rd., Leasburg, NC 27291.

William H. Shotwell
The funeral for William Henry Shotwell, 90, formerly of Pin Oak Court, who died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Roxboro Nursing Center, was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, in Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Dr. Tobie Stone. Burial was in Alton Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Shotwell was a native of Halifax County, Va., the son of the late John Rufus and Sally Sue Turner Shotwell. His late wife was Elizabeth Ford Shotwell.
He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Cates Robertson Shotwell; four step-daughters, Sigmora Augusta Short of Muskogee, Okla., Virginia Chambers and Martha Meadows, both of Timberlake, and Alease Krause of Nashville, Tenn.; and seven step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Claude (Red) McCann, Whitey Baker, R. B. Briggs, Carlton Ford, Chris Oakley, Bobby Shotwell, J. W. Shotwell and Alvin Snow.

Janie H. Duncan
STEM – The funeral for Janie Hicks Duncan, 66, of 3134 Old Rt. 75, Stem, who died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Durham Regional Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, March 31, in Eakes Funeral Home chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Jim Shelley. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Duncan was a native of Nash County, the daughter of the late John and Lula Murray Hicks.
She was retired from Murdoch Center, after 30 years of service.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Elbert H. Duncan; two sons, Garry S. Duncan of Milton, Fla. and Kenneth J. Duncan of Dayton, Ohio; three brothers, Robie Hicks of Durham, John Hicks of Middlesex and Jerry Hicks of Germantown, Md.; and five grandchildren.

Mary Ann W. Lee
The funeral for Mary Ann Walker Lee, 58, of 1853 Halifax Rd., who died Friday morning, March 30, 2001, at her home following an extended illness, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronn McCracken and the Rev. Dennis McDonald. Burial will be in the Walker Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Lee was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late Lavenia and George B. Walker.
She was a deputy tax collector with the Person County Tax Office.
She was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, served as clerk and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.
She was a member of the Person County Cancer Society.
Surviving are her husband, Archie W. Lee; a daughter, Allyson L. Pass of Roxboro; a son, Alan Lee of Roxboro; and a brother, George B. (Buddy) Walker Jr. of Biloxi, Miss.
Pallbearers will be J. C. Lee, Ellis Lee, Ricky Lee, Perry Bray, Joe Johnson and Richie Perkins.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight, March 31, at Strickland Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 1319 Virgilina Rd., Roxboro, NC 27573.

Wallace R. Roberson
WILSON – A graveside funeral for Wallace Reid Roberson, 74, of Wilson, who died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Wake Medical Center, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, March 31, in Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson by the Rev. William M. Presnell, the Rev. C. Keith Sexton and the Rev. Daniel P. Jones.
Mr. Roberson was a native of Pitt County, the son of the late Lewis H. and Pearl Nobles Roberson.
He was retired from The American Tobacco Co., with which he was employed 40 years, having served as a buyer and market supervisor.
He spent his youth in the town of Stokes, attended N. C. State University and was graduated from Kings Business College after serving in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
He was formerly active in a number of civic groups, including the Jaycees, Masons and Elks.
He was active in the Baptist Church for many years and held numerous offices. In recent years he attended First United Methodist Church in Wilson.
He was married icon to Frances Wrenn of Roxboro and is survived by a son, David Wrenn Roberson of Wilson; a daughter, Hannah Roberson Farmer of Elm City; and a grandson, Sidney Nobles Farmer.
Visitation will be at the home at 313 Canterbury Rd., Wilson.
Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America Troop 6, c/o First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 1423, Wilson, NC 27894.
Arrangements are by Joyner Funeral Home in Wilson.

Annette S. Watts
The funeral for Annette Stanley Watts, 35, of 1704 Wall St., who died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in her home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, March 31, in Childrey Baptist Church in Nathalie, Va. by the Rev. Rodney Barwick. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Watts was a native of Halifax County, Va., the daughter of Betty Crews Adams of Nathalie, who survives, and the late Roger Leon Stanley, formerly of Roxboro.
She was a teller with Roxboro Savings Bank.
She was a member of Childrey Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Christopher Scott Watts; two brothers, Roger Leon Stanley Jr. of Nathalie and Christopher Wayne Powell of Brookneal; and her maternal grandmother, Myrtle Wade Crews of Nathalie.
Memorials may be made to the Halifax County Cancer Association, P. O. Box 875, South Boston, VA 24592.
Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Home in South Boston.

Mae Jewel Williams
OXFORD – The funeral for Mae Jewell Williams, 70, of 6582 Old Roxboro Rd., Oxford, who died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Granville Medical Center, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C by Elder John Lyon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Ernest and Novella Lawson Lyon.
She was a member of the Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., where she served as Sunday school superintendent, as a member of the Mothers Board and sang in the choir.
Surviving are two daughters, Martha Palmer of Roxboro and Geraldine W. Jackson of Greensboro; five sons, Elbert C. Lyon and James A. Williams, both of Oxford, Ray D. Lyon of Roxboro, Anthony Williams of Durham and John W. Williams of Raleigh; two brothers, John Lyon of Oxford and Louis H. Lyon of Pottstown, Pa.; 12 sisters, Sadie Lyon, Emma Lyon, Shirley Ball, Doris McCray and Lonie Allen, all of Oxford, Frances Satterwhite, Josephine Green, Mae Brooks and Victoria Williams, all of Roxboro, Catherine Sconers of Hillside, N. J., Ernestine Sconers and Christine Smith, both of Jersey City, N. J.; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 o’clock tonight, March 31, at Betts and Son Funeral Home Inc. in Oxford.

Gertrude R. Norris
The funeral for Gertrude Rimmer Norris, 77, of 11094 Hurdle Mills Rd., who died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Durham Regional Hospital, will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5, in Wheeler’s Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Pete Hendrix. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Norris was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late Henry and Martha Rimmer. Her late husband was Herman Norris.
She was a member of Wheeler’s Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Charles Ray Norris of Hurdle Mills; a brother, Dallas Rimmer of Hurdle Mills; a sister, Reba Wheeley of Hurdle Mills; three grandchildren, Debbie Norris, Cecil Norris and Charles B. Norris.
Visitation will follow the service.
Pallbearers will be Tom Bradsher, Jerry Rimmer, Kent Rimmer, Ronald Norris, Phillip Norris and Dale Norris.

James C. Poole
The funeral for James Clarence Poole, 75, of 691 Lonnie Gentry Rd., who died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, in Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, Va., was conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3, in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stewart Crank and the Rev. Ron Patton. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Poole was a native of Person County, the son of late Dee and Lena Gill Poole.
He was a retired farmer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian Ellis Poole; three children, Michael Poole, Steve Poole and Gayle Leezer, all of Roxboro; a brother, Earl Poole of Chester, Va.; two sisters, Ruby P. Lunsford of Roxboro and Lorena P. Burnette of Oxford; and six grandchildren, Rodney Poole, Brandon Leezer, Stephen Poole, Jason Poole, Anna Leezer and Jade Poole.
Pallbearers were Duke Bradsher, Ronnie Burnette, Harry Lee Davis, Harold Gill, Pasco Gill and Lawrence Lunsford.

Wynde D. Stone
The funeral for Wynde Delayne Stone, 25, of 683 Semora Rd., who died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in Duke University Medical Center, was conducted at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3, in Brooks& White Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Buddy Hall and the Rev. Martin Hall. A private burial will be held today, Aug. 4.
Ms. Stone was a native of Person County, the daughter of Sandra Seals Stone of Roxboro and George K. and Nancy Stone of Kinston, all of whom survive.
She was a member of Somerset Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a daughter, Lauren Nicole; her maternal grandmother, Marie Caldwell of Hixson, Tenn.; her maternal great-grandmother, Lizzie Daniels of Moseim, Tenn.; a sister, Georgiana Stone of Roxboro; two step-brothers, Julie Jilcott of Roxbobel and Andy Jilcott of Newport News, Va.

Pearlie M. Terry
The funeral for Pearlie Mae Terry, 59, of 113B Henderson Rd., who died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, in the Person Memorial Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5, in Denniston Grove Baptist Church in Alton, Va. by the Rev. John T. Hubbard. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Terry was a member of Denniston Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Leroy Terry; four daughters, Patricia Terry Rainey, Sharon Johnson and Karen Terry, all of Roxboro and Angela Fuller of Leasburg; two sons, Leroy Terry Jr. and Michael Terry, both of Roxboro; four sisters, Shirley Jones of Roxboro, Missouria Lea of Hurdle Mills, Carolyn Newman Bass of Durham and Corrine Ray of Leasburg; a brother, King David Newman of Timberlake; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., today, Aug. 4, at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Rod and Angela Fuller, 90 Sunny Ln., Leasburg.

Archie L. Cash
The funeral for Archie Lee Cash, 63, of 719 Walnut Grove Church Rd., who died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in Fuller’s Family Care Home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 8, in Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Rufus Johnson. Burial will be in Person Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Cash was a native of Person County, the son of the late Coy Stroud and Annie Mae Smith Cash.
He was a former employee of Southern Parts in Roxboro.
He was a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, William Dale Cash of Burgaw, a niece and three nephews.
Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service and at other times at Fuller’s Family Care Home.
Arrangements are by Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Nannie B. Horton
ROUGEMONT – A graveside funeral for Nannie Reece Barnwell Horton, 83, of Rougemont, who died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Durham Regional Hospital, was conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, in Person Memorial Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Tommy Jordan.
Mrs. Horton was a native of Caswell County, the daughter of the late Cornelia Thaxton and Phillip Allen Barnwell. Her late husband was Earl B. Horton.
She was formerly employed with Stheinthal Corp. and TG&Y in Roxboro.
Surviving are a son, James R. Horton of Rougemont; two daughters, Katherine H. Davis of Roxboro and Juanita Horton of Rougemont; two sisters, Hallie Burch of Prospect Hill and Bertha Cobb of Yanceyville; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Grandsons were pallbearers.

Lelia P. Jones
The funeral for Lelia Peed Jones, 94, formerly of 1441 Mt. Harmony Church Rd., who died Tuesday morning, Aug. 7, 2001, in Roxboro Nursing Center, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, in Mt. Harmony Baptist Church by the Rev. Wendell Stokes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late George Washington and Martha Belle Eakes Peed. Her late husband was John R. Jones.
She was a retired school teacher.
She was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years.
Surviving are a son, Vic Jones of Roxboro; a daughter, Sue Lunsford of Timberlake; four grandchildren, Vickie J. Carver, Ernie Jones, John D. Lunsford and Susan L. Cox; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight, Aug. 8, in Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Building Fund, 1655 Mt. Harmony Church Rd., Rougemont, NC 27572.

Katherine S. Reese
The funeral for Katherine Louise Saurborn Reese, 71, of 520 Cedar Creek Rd., who died Monday morning, Aug. 6, 2001, in her home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, in Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Stewart Crank. Burial will be in Person Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Reese was a native of Fairmont, W. Va., the daughter of the late Moody and Louanna Edwards Saurborn. Her late son was Thomas Reese.
Surviving are her husband, John F. Reese; two sons, John Everett Reese of the home and David Alan Reese of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Lillian Cozad of Fairmont, W. Va.; and a half-sister, Mabel Corwin of Florida.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight, Aug. 8, at Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Wallace Roberson
The funeral for Wallace (Redrock) Roberson, 76, of 1445 N. Main St., who died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, in Person Memorial Hospital following a brief illness, was conducted at 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, in Strickland Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Herbert Brown and the Rev. Jason Webster. Burial was in Providence Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Roberson was a native of Person County, the son of the late Jim and Maude Wilkins Roberson. His late wife was Willow Ree Walker Roberson.
He was retired from Roxboro Yarns.
He was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Tim Roberson and Mark Roberson, both of Roxboro; a daughter, Dale R. Shelton of Roxboro; two sisters, Earl Roberson of the home and Ola R. Chandler of Durham; four grandchildren, Brent Shelton, Daniel Roberson, Ashley Roberson and Matthew Roberson; two step-grandchildren, Kim Griffin and Tammy Blalock.
Pallbearers were Vic Poole, William O’Briant, George O’Briant, Mark Litchfield, Donnie Hubbard and Marvin Hawkins. John Carl Clayton and Wooffie Robertson were honorary pallbearers.
