The funeral for James Marcellous Regan, 79, formerly of 1309 N. Main St., who died Monday morning, Sept. 8, 2003, in Roxboro Nursing Center following an extended illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 10, in Strickland Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Phil Oakley and the Rev. Ken Durham. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.
Mr. Regan was a native of Person County, the son of the late Marcellous and Annabelle Cates Regan. His late wife was Mary Dunn Regan.
He was a correctional officer, retired from Halifax Correctional Facility, Unit 23.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Jimmy B. Wilborn of Roxboro; two daughters, Patricia R. Phelps and Shelia R. Tuck, both of Roxboro; a brother, Coy T. Regan of Roxboro; and a sister, Ethel R. Snow of Leasburg.
Pallbearers will be Rick Lappin, Tommy Regan, Matt Tuck, Jeremy Whitfield, Jason Wilborn and Jimmy Wilborn Jr.

Raymond L. White
MEBANE - The funeral for Raymond Lee White, 64, of 6821 Corbitt Ridge Rd., Mebane, who died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at Duke University Medical Center, was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Carr United Methodist Church by the Rev. Brenda Davis and the Rev. Calvin Stokes. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. White was a native of Orange County, the son of the late Robert James (Bob) and Viola Dunn White.
He was a carpenter and a member of Carr United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ella Louise Wade White; five children, Robert White of Mebane, Lisa Yancey Clayton of Roxboro, Bryan White of Turbeville, Va., Donna Lynn White of Mebane and Paul Gregory of Burlington; a sister, Erma Hollaman of Holly Springs and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jerry Scott, Wayne Scott, Tracy Hawkins, P. J. Gregory, Paul Gregory, Tommy Pittman and Robert Jones.

Harold T. Bowen
ROUGEMONT - The funeral for Harold T. Bowen, 62, of 412 Red Mountain Rd., Rougemont, who died Wednesday morning, Sept. 10, 2003 at Durham Regional Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 13, in Red Mountain Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph F. Glenn and the Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bowen was a native of Baltimore, Md., the son of the late Raney T. and Odell Bowen.
He had been retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co. since 1996.
He was a firefighter and emergency medical technician for the Bahama Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years.
He was a member of Red Mountain Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Tilley Bowen; a daughter, Pamela B. Green and husband, Kelly, of Bahama; two sons, Ricky W. Bowen of Timberlake and Dale T. Bowen and wife, Lynn, of Roxboro; five sisters, Delora Roberts of Roxboro, Mollie Huff of Timberlake and Norma Bowen, Viola Wilkins and Gail Bowen, all of Rougemont; a brother, Vernon Bowen of Rougemont; and four grandchildren, Jeremy Bowen, Matthew Bowen, Daniel Bowen and Andrew Green.
Members of the Bahama Volunteer Fire Department will be honorary pallbearers.
Arrangements are by Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

Beatrice M. Harris
The funeral for Beatrice Mitchell Harris, 83, of 2410 Rolling Hills Rd., who died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, in Person Memorial Hospital following several years of declining health, was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Obies Chapel United Holiness Church by Elder Thomas Headen. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Harris was a native of Person County.
She was a member of Obies Chapel United Holiness Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Ernestine Atkinson of Dillwyn, Va.; three sons, Clarence Harris of Roxboro and Harold Harris and Will Harris, both of Montgomery, Ala.; a sister, Mary Mitchell of Roxboro; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bobby L. Harris
The funeral for Bobby Lee Harris, 65, of 2410 Rolling Hills Rd., who died Thursday morning, Sept. 4, 2003, in Duke University Medical Center in Durham following several months of declining health, was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Obies Chapel United Holiness Church by Elder Thomas Headen. Burial was in Peace Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Harris' funeral, which was originally scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8, was rescheduled to coincide with the funeral for his mother, Beatrice Mitchell Harris, who died a day after her son.
Mr. Harris was a native of Person County.
He was a member of Obies Chapel United Holiness Church.
Surviving are a sister, Ernestine Atkinson of Dillwyn, Va.; and three brothers, Clarence Harris of Roxboro, and Harold Harris and Will Harris, both of Montgomery, Ala.

David W. Jackson
RICHMOND, Va. - The funeral for David Wayne Jackson, 61, of 3507 Kensington Ave., Richmond, Va., who died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at St. Mary's of Richmond, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, in the Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel in Roxboro by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will be in Person Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Jackson was a native of Person County, the son of the late Stonewall and Lorraine Bailey Jackson.
He was retired from Universal Leaf Corp.
He had served in the National Guard, and he was a member of Warren's Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Reginald Jackson of Sanford and Danny Jackson of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mary Joe Jackson Barton; and seven nieces.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Strickland, Sandy Dallas, Don Nichols, Jack Stephens, James Edwards and Charles Paylor.
Visitation will be for one hour before the service Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC, 27565.

Katherine Lawson
The funeral for Katherine Lawson of 1467 Chub Lake Rd., who died Tuesday morning, Sept. 9, 2003, at Durham Regional Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 13, in Allen Chapel AME Church by the Rev. Theodora K. Moss and the Rev. Barbara J. Barbour. Burial will be in Lawson Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Lawson was a retired public health nurse, having worked with the Person County Health Deparment for about 40 years.
Surviving are a daughter, the Rev. Theodora K. Moss of Creedmoor; two sisters, Matrice W. Davis of Roxboro and Edna W. Walker of Greensboro; and four grandchildren, Willetta Wheeler, Frederick Swann, Theodore Swann and Keith Gardner; and six great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Hester-Whitted-Daye Funeral Home.

Lillie L. Moore
The funeral for Lillie Lee Moore, 89, a former resident of 102 Jacobs-Moore Lane, Hurdle Mills, who died Tuesday morning, Sept. 9, 2003, at Britthaven nursing Home in Chapel Hill, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 13, in Lattisville Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. George Crews III. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Moore was a native of Granville County.
She was a member of Lattisville Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Nannie Johnson and Dorothy Moore, both of Carrboro, and Carrie Lee Moore of Roxboro; two sons, Willie E. Moore and Ernest W. Moore, both of Hurdle Mills; a step-son, William Jacobs and a step-sister, Martha Villines, both of Hillsborough; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Cunningham & Nelson Funeral Home.

Ruth M. Cook
Ruth Martyn Cook, 89, of Cambridge Hills, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Rosemanor in Durham. A memorial service will be conducted at a date to be announced.
Mrs. Cook was a native of New York, the daughter of the late Bert and Mina Martyn. Her late husband was Clifford Cook.
She was a retired registered nurse.
Surviving are a step-daughter, Elaine C. Suhr of Rougemont; a step-son, Elton Cook of Charlton, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Ethel M. Hawkins
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. — The funeral for Ethel Mae Hawkins, 69, of Mount Vernon, N. Y., who died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in Mt. Vernon, was conducted Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Olive Grove Baptist Church in Leasburg by the Rev. Brud Perry. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins was a native of Person County, the daughter of John Moore of Roxboro, who survives.
Surviving in addition to her father are a daughter, Rosa Lee Crawley of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Ressie Ann Williams, Annie Pearl Bailey and Lula Marie Rogers, all of Roxboro; four brothers, John Crawley, James Crawley, Roland Crawley and Kidd Crawley, all of Roxboro; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Charlie M. Holloway
The funeral for Charlie M. Holloway, of 203 N. Capital St., Suffolk, Va., who died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Granville Medical Center in Oxford, will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, in Lawson Chapel Baptist Church by Dr. Langston D. Logan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Holloway was a native of Person County, the son of the late Luther (Pete) and Eugenia Jones Holloway.
A retired brick mason, he was a veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Lawson Chapel Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Gene Alton Holloway of Victoria, Va. and Freddie Holloway of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters, Bretia Rogers and Maxine Holloway, both of Roxboro, and Gurtherine Brody of High Point; six brothers, Dallas Holloway, Warren G. Holloway and Luther Holloway of Trenton, N.J., Edward Holloway of Brooklyn, N.Y.; John Holloway and Bobby Holloway, both of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Rayshawn Lawrence of Camp LeJeune and Cynthia Holloway Morton of Oxford; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Cunningham & Nelson Funeral Directors.

Ethel M. Massengill
The funeral for Ethel Mitchell Massengill, 95, who died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Person Memorial Hospital following an extended illness, was conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, inThe Church of God by the Rev. J. Harold Palmer. Burial was in Peace Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Massengill was the daughter of the late William and Ida Barnett Mitchell.
Surviving are a step-son, Walter Massengill III of New Jersey; and three brothers-in-laws, Aaron, Fred and Horace; and nieces and nephews.

Frank Perry
The funeral for Frank Perry, 77, of 116 Hess Perry Rd., who died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at his home, was conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 17, in Mt. Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Johnny Wilson. Burial was in the Perry Family Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Mae Perry; seven children, Frank Perry Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Carmella Brown of Abingdan, Md., Carmen G. Shepard and Hester Berryman, both of Roxboro, Dorothy Myers of Fayetteville, Renee Price of Pasadena, Calif. and Raymond Perry of Baltimore; four sisters, Dixie Farrish and Obie Mae Harris, both of Roxboro, Dolly Lawson of Virgilina, Va. and Shirley Brown of Baltimore; two brothers, Trip Perry and Jerry Perry, both of Roxboro; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lonie S. Reaves
The funeral for Lonie Jane Solomon Reaves, 86, of 4947 Woodsdale Rd., who died Friday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Person Memorial Hospital following an extended illness, was conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 17, in Oak Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. L.L. Watlington and the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Reaves was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late Jim and Nora Harris Solomon. Her late husband was Sterling Allen Reaves.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Texie R. Bowes of Leasburg, Wilma R. Bowling and Regina R. Gray, both of Roxboro, and Deborah R. Woody of Timberlake; seven sons, Edwin Reaves, Curtis Reaves, Milo Reaves, Roger Reaves, Stanley Reaves and Hermon Reaves, all of Roxboro, and Jimmy Reaves of Petersburg, Va.; two sisters, Ethel S. Gray and Minnie S. Shotwell, both of Roxboro; 43 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Bowling, Jason Gray, Edwin (Skeeter) Reaves, Phillip Reaves, Randy Reaves and Tony Reaves.
Lee Bowes, Frankie Bowling, Chris Gray, and Billy Reaves were honorary pallbearers.

John E. Brand
The funeral for John E. Brand, 88, of 166 Bradsher Rd., who died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Roxboro Nursing Center, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, in Old Mt. Zion Baptist church in Roxboro by the Rev. Marcus Vann. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Lugene Bradsher Brand; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, at Hester-Whitted-Day Funeral Service in Roxboro.

Geraldine S. Clayton
The funeral for Geraldine Sue Clayton, 93, of The Canterbury House and formerly of 1589 Willow Oak Dr., who died Sunday morning, Nov. 23, 2003, in Person Memorial Hospital following a brief illness, was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, in Mill Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Robertson. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ms. Clayton was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late Melvin Thomas and Annie Farmer Clayton. Her late brothers were John Andrew Clayton and George Thomas Clayton.
She was a nurse, retired from Person County memorial Hospital.
She was a graduate of Bethel Hill High School, Pineland Junior College in Salemburg and Sarah Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Va.
She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Bertha C. Gentry of Winston-Salem; a brother, Ras Clayton of Roxboro; five nieces, Sara C. Jolly and Ellen C. Moore, both of Roxboro, Marlene C. Coulter of Durham, page G. Deardorff of Charleston, W. Va. and Nancy G. Smith of Winston-Salem; and two nephews, Hubert B. Gentry Jr. of Winston-Salem and John A. Clayton Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S. C.
Pallbearers were Tucker Clark, Alvin Dickerson, Walter Fox, Frankie Gentry, Sam Parham, Cecil Pixley and Ed Thomas.

Beverly B. Hester
The funeral for Beverly Best Hester, 68, of 5015 Hester’s Store Rd., who died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, 2003, at her home, was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, in Clement Baptist Church by the Rev. Johnny Smith and the Rev. Hal Dickerson. Burial was in the Hester Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Hester was a native of Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of the late Dr. David and Doris Lakin Best. Her late husband was Larry C. Hester.
She was a retired registered nurse.
She was a founding member and a past president of the Animal Protection Society in Person County.
Surviving are a son, Craig Hester and wife, Katie, of Hurdle Mills; a daughter, Holly H. Yarborough and husband, Andy, of Hurdle Mills; and a grandson, Carson Hester.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Protection Society, P. O. Box 291, Roxboro, NC 27573.

Charlie H. McKee
The funeral for Charlie Hubert McKee, 97, formerly of Cambridge Hills Assisted Living Center, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Person Memorial Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 26, in Providence Cemetery by the Rev. Herbert Brown.
Mr. McKee was a native of Caswell County, the son of the late Charlie and Stella Lee McKee. His late wife was Hallie Riley McKee.
He was retired from the former Roxboro Cotton Mills.
Surviving are three daughters, Martha Walker and Alice (Dannie) Strange, both of Roxboro, and Rachel Newton of Danville, Va.; a sister, Lenner Weaver of Roxboro; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe O’Briant, Jay O’Briant, Mike O’Briant, Keith Whitfield, Joe Wright and Trey Wright.
Robert Walker and Alfred Newton will be honorary pallbearers.
