JOHN WILBUR FERRELL
JUNE 18, 1923-FEB. 5, 1999
FUQUAY-VARINA -- John W. Ferrell, 75, went to be with Jesus and his beloved wife, Drusilla Boyles Ferrell on Friday, February 5, 1999.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, February 8, 1999 at Wake Chapel Christian Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Dad will always be remembered in living each day in God's Grace. As Mom, Dad loved all family members and all his friends. He too, always said, "I love you." Each night before he went to sleep Dad would say "I love you and if it's the Good Lord's will, I'll see you in the morning." I'd reply, "I love you too, Dad, goodnight."
Granddad Ferrell named, owned and operated the Hill Top Service Station after many years of farming corn, cotton and some tobacco. Dad, being the youngest, stayed home and helped Granddaddy and Grandma Ferrell tend the farms and later became owner and operator of the store. Dad ran the store 14 years, delivered the News and Observer seven years and (always loved using his hands) became a carpenter and then a contractor. He built over 300 homes in Wake and surrounding counties until he became disabled in the Spring of 1980. As most folks know, Dad had a very difficult time breathing. The last words I told him were, "Dad, I love you," as he whispered "I love you too." Today and forever, Jesus is on one side, and Mama is on the other as they walk hand in hand on those beautiful streets of gold as I can hear them rejoicing with those words, Shug, "LOVE NEVER DIES."
In addition to Mama, Dad was preceded in death by his loving parents, Willie and Lina Agnes Ferrell; four brothers, Buron, Milton, Macon and Louis Ferrell; two sisters, Daisy Chalk and Grace Slaughter. A perfect Dad in all areas and since Mom passed, he became my best friend.
Surviving, daughter, Jeanette Yvonne Ferrell of the home; foster children, Bob and Jeanie Ankney of Naples, Florida; Bobby and Joyce Leonard and daughter Debra and husband, Robert of Oxford; Hubert and Teresa Wall of Sanford; Donald and Bonita Dunlow of Garner; brother and sister-in-law, W. F. (Frank) and Doris Ferrell of Garner; sister, Lina Mae Edwards of Cary; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Ferrell of Fuquay-Varina and Dovie Ferrell of Morganton; sisters-in-law and husbands, Georgia and Rupert Hall, "Boots" Boles of King, Oneda and Bill Wall of Rural Hall; brothers-in-law, T. A. Bennett of King and Ira Boyles of Stanley; several nieces and nephews.
Flowers are accepted; however, should the Lord lead you to give a donation, you may do so at Wake Chapel Christian Church, 905 Wake Chapel Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526; Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Rt. 6, King, NC 27021, or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 10005 Lake Wheeler Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
