ROBERT "BOBBY" EDWARDS JR.
YOUNGSVILLE -- Robert "Bobby" Edwards, Jr., 66, of 1695 Moore's Pond Road, died Tuesday, January 26, 1999 at Rex Hospital. He was born in Wake County and was the son of the late Robert and Alma Perry Edwards. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class and served on the Building and Grounds Committee.
At the young age of 14, when his father died suddenly, he became a farmer and helped his mother raise his younger brother and his sisters. He was an employee of Westinghouse Meter Corp./ABB and retired with 36 years of service.
He loved nature and the outdoors. His main hobby was gardening and watching things grow. He was very compassionate toward those in need, often extending a helping hand and sharing vegetables from his garden. He believed that whatever one possesses becomes a double value when it is shared with others. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and was a "special papa". May his memory teach us how to live, laugh, forgive and love.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, January 28, 1999 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lucy Underwood Edwards; sister, Nancy Wilson of Raleigh; stepchildren, Michael Underwood and Debbie Williams, both of Rolesville, Ronnie Hart and Linda Myers of Middlesex; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Wilder Hart Edwards; sisters, Annie Ruth Alford, Angeline Pearce, Doris Hight and Eva Mae Upchurch and by his brother, Charles "Doodle" Edwards.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 2124 Oak Grove Church Road, Youngsville, NC 27596.
The family will receive friends at Bright Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

MARGARET D. FAWCETT
PITTSBORO -- Margaret D. Fawcett, 89, died Saturday, January 23, 1999 at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh.
She was born in Lansdowne, PA and resided in Delaware County, PA for most of her life. After many years of bookkeeping for a mushroom packing plant in PA, she retired to Pearce, AZ. She then moved to Pittsboro, NC where she lived with her niece.
Ms. Fawcett is survived by her sister, Martha Bohn of Pearce, AZ; nieces, Amanda Erikson of Denmark and Mary Hammond of Pittsboro; nephew, James N. Granade of Flagstaff, AZ.
A memorial service is to be held at a later date in Pennsylvania.
Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Inc., Raleigh.

CAPITOLA Q. GALLOWAY
TIMMONSVILLE, SC -- Capitola Q. Galloway, 79, died Jan. 25, 1999.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999 at 3 o'clock in the First Baptist Church of Timmonsville. Interment will be in Byrd Cemetery directed by Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Alice Keith of Wake Forest, N.C.

ELIZABETH DILL GIBBS
ZEBULON -- Elizabeth Dill Gibbs, 88, of Zebulon, formerly of Swan Quarter and Wendell, died Jan. 22, 1999 at Guardian Care. A native of Hyde County, she was born on Nov. 2, 1910, the daughter of the late Edgar and Bessie Mann Gibbs. She was a graduate of East Carolina College and taught many years in Johnston County (Corinth Holders) and Alexandria, VA schools.
Surviving a nice, Joan Simpson Turner of Atlanta; great nephew, Eric Maynard of Fuquay and great niece Andrea Maynard of Seattle, WA.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Katie Mann Gibbs Simpson and Ella Dill Gibbs Murrow.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 1999 at St. George's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Lake Landing Historical District in Hyde County with Reverend Stephen T. Dunstan officiating.

FRANCIS JOSEPH GRACE
RALEIGH -- Francis J. Grace, 88, of 101 Kingston Rd., Knightdale, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Grace; a daughter, Lisa Grace of Cary; a son, Raymond Grace of Raleigh; a brother, Fred Grace of Allegany, NY; two sisters, Helen Sonday of Wilkes Barre, PA and Edith Chopko of Fairless Hills, PA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 28, at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Wed., Jan. 27, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's St.

MARY P. GREEN
RALEIGH -- Mary P. Green, 71, of Raleigh, died Sunday, January 24, 1999. Mrs. Green retired from the Wake County School System. She taught at Wake Forest Rolesville High School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur T. Green.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Mrs. Green is survived by her son, Michael A. Green of Raleigh; daughter, Deborah A. Sikes and her husband, Craig Sikes of Willow Spring; grandchildren, Jessica Williford of Angier and Melanie Sikes of Willow Spring.
Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Road.

VICK C. HODGE
KENLY -- Vick C. Hodge, 73, son of the late John Bennett and Lillie Bertha Bunn Hodge, died Monday. He was a member of Stancil's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where he had served as treasurer for 25 years, and was a charter member of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday in Stancil's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Naydelle Whitley Hodge; sons, Larry C. Hodge and wife, Judy of Kenly, J. Linwood Hodge and his fiancee Beverly Durham of Kenly; sister, Jean H. Yancey of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Judy Carol Hodge and Larry Vick Hodge.

FUQUAY-VARINA -- Ivey Craig Holloway, 89, a retired farmer, died Tuesday. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Surviving: son, I. Craig "Sam" Holloway and wife, Charlotte of Felton, Del.; son, Donald P. Holloway and wife, Mary of Cary; daughter, Priscilla H. Turner of Danville, Va.; daughter, Judith H. Haire and husband, Kenneth of Fuquay-Varina; sisters, Willa Loy of Burlington, Helen Graham of Fuquay-Varina and Mary Nell Echerd of Kingsport, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Sugg Funeral Home; other times at the home of Judy and Kenneth Haire, 124 Oakdale St., Fuquay-Varina.

CURTIS KNIGHT
RALEIGH -- Curtis Lee Knight, of 814 E. Jones St., died Saturday, January 23, 1999. Funeral service to be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 28, at Haywood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial follows in Carolina Biblical Gardens.
Visitation 12:30-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Elisha T. Knight of Raleigh; wife of the heart, Leatha Askew of Ahoskie; daughters, ShaDawn Hayes (Reco) of Virginia Beach, Va., Arlinda S. Knight of Ahoskie, Lakreshia Barker of Clarksville, Tenn., Catherine B. Teasley of Raleigh; sons, Riley Eldridge (Sonya) of Clarksville, Tenn., Anthony Eldridge of Clarksville, Tenn., Curtis E. Knight Jr. of Ahoskie; mother, Eldress Annie B. Blackmon of Raleigh; father, John Phillips; sister, Florence Nicholson (Dennis) of Rocky Mount; brothers, Joseph Lamont Blackmon of Raleigh, Harvey Phillips of Forestville, Md., Michael Phillips of Norfolk, Va., Nelson Phillips (LeVern) of Rocky Mount; a host of other relatives and friends.

MARGARET HEWITT MARTIN
BURLINGTON -- Margaret H. Martin, died at Twin Lakes Center on January 25, 1999 at the age of 100, after a year of declining health. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Harold H. Hewitt and Julia Alice Pool, the widow of Alfred N. Martin. She spent most of her life in Roanoke Rapids, where she was a homemaker and a free lance writer. She was also the oldest member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Roanoke Rapids.
Surviving: daughters, Mrs. Gordon M. Goodale (Chickie) of Burlington, Mrs. Reese H. Young (Margo) of Clinton, SC; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Roanoke Rapids, on Thursday, January 28 at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 264, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870, or to the North Carolina Library for the Blind, 1811 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27635.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Inc., Raleigh.

JAMES E. "MIKE" ROARK
RALEIGH -- James E. "Mike" Roark, Raleigh, died Sunday, January 24th, in St. Louis, MO.
Funeral arrangements are by Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro, WV. Visitation at the funeral home, Wednesday, January 27, 3:00-8:00 p.m.
Funeral service in Nitro at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 10 a.m., Thursday, January 28. Funeral service in Raleigh at Church of the Nativity, 4 p.m., Friday, January 29.

DENNIS C. SANFORD
NOV. 9, 1954 - JAN. 23, 1999
RALEIGH -- Dennis Carroll Sanford, 44, of 5734 N. Sharron Drive, died Saturday.
Memorial service: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. The family will receive friends following the service.
Surviving: wife, Janice Sanford of Cary; daughter, Alisha Sanford of Cary; mother, Leila G. Sanford of Raleigh; sister, Harriet S. Lynch of Garner.

IDA ELIZABETH WILKINS
RALEIGH -- Mrs. Ida Elizabeth Wilkins, 90, of Raleigh, died Monday, January 25, 1999 in Mayview Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Wilkins was born in Chatham County on October 8, 1908, the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Churchill Money. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Wilkins.
She retired from the Metropolitan Insurance Co. after 43 years of service.
Surviving are stepson, W. Robert Wilkins of Raleigh; sister, Mae Money Fleming of New Braunfels, Texas; five nieces, Elizabeth Money Farrell of Hillsborough, Ida Money Snipes of Pittsboro, Frances Money Brubaker of Libertyville, Ill., Carol Money Raley of Charlotte, Lorraine Fleming Neese of New Braunfels, Texas; nephew, Glen A. Money of Sumter, S.C.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 1999 in the Mitchell Funeral Home, Saint Mary's Street Chapel, by Dr. Mark T. White. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 12:30-1 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home, 600 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh, N.C.

WILBER GRAY "JACK" DOUB
RALEIGH -- Wilber Gray "Jack" Doub, 86, of Raleigh, died January 21, 1999, in Rex Hospital. Jack was born and raised in Forsyth County, N.C. He and his wife, Pauline, have resided in Raleigh for 46 years. Before retiring in 1974, Jack owned and operated Jack Doub Grading Company for 27 years in the Raleigh area. Jack was a long time member of Highland United Methodist Churh and a member of the Jennings Sunday School Class. Jack was also a long time member of the West Raleigh Rotary Club, and the Men's Garden Club.
A visitation will be held Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pauline Griffin Doub of Raleigh; a daughter, Linda Doub Drayton and her husband, Edward Raynor Drayton III of Hartsville, S.C.; a granddaughter, Lynda Drayton Privette, and her husband, Troy Williamson Privette, Jr. of Columbia, S.C.; a grandson, Edward Raynor Drayton IV and his wife, Joelle Girone Drayton of Columbia, S.C.; four sisters, Evelyn D. Hendrix of Tobaccoville, N.C., Mabel D. Westmoreland of King, N.C., Lou D. Boyles of Tobaccoville, N.C., Pearl D. Swygert of Raleigh, N.C.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, 2 p.m at Highland United Methodist Church. The Jennings Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
Flowers will be graciously accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, 1901 Ridge Road, Raleigh, N.C.

RAYMOND WALKER WORSHAM IV
RALEIGH -- Raymond Walker Worsham IV, 25, of 801 Navaho Drive, died Tuesday, January 19, at Duke Medical Center.
A native of Miami, Florida, Worsham was preparing for the ministry at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Tanya, were resident missionaries to the children and families of the government-subsidized Cinnamon Ridge apartments in a missions venture with Raleigh's Forest Hills Baptist Church. A graduate of Carson-Newman College, he was a resort summer missionary in Ocean City, Maryland, in 1993. Worsham was an accomplished wrestler a 1991 Florida state high school champion in his division - and avid fan of the Miami Dolphins. He was a loving husband and son known for a playful wit and an unswerving dedication to his Lord Jesus Christ. His family and friends celebrate the inspiration of Ray's faith, based on the miracle of salvation. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28.
Surviving are his wife, Tanya Lynn Worsham of Raleigh; mother, Rosa Brador Worsham of Fort Meyers, FL; father, Raymond W. Worsham III, and stepmother, Robin Z. Worsham of Newport, NC; parents-in-law, Terry Lee and Lynn K. Davis of Ocean City, MD; grandmother, Josefa Brador of Dominican Republic; grandmother, Esther G. Weston, and grandfather, Walter A. Weston of Naples, FL; brothers-in-law, Daniel Lee Davis of Knoxville, TN and wife, Emily Woods Davis, Sean Patrick Davis of Ocean City, MD.
Funeral service 1 p.m. Saturday, burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
Visitation, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home, 600 St. Mary's St., Raleigh.
