ALMA D. LINEBACK
GREENSBORO -- Mrs. Alma D. Lineback, 82, OF 3505 McKnight Mill Rd., died Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at Moses H. Cone Hospital.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home, with the Reverend Joe B. Chandler officiating. Interment will following at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lineback was born September 14, 1916 in Dillon County, S.C., to the late Gadi Dudley and Bettie Barfield Dudley. She was a homemaker and a member of Hines Chapel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lineback is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter L. Lineback; three sons, Wayne Lineback of Randleman, Norman Lineback of Greensboro, and Jerry Lineback of Reidsville; a daughter, Ann via of Cary; a sister, Anniebelle Kernstein of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the O'Henry Lions Club or the Arthritis Association.

ANN NAHALE MITCHELL
RALEIGH -- Ann Nahale Mitchell, 72, formally of Burlington, died February 18, 1999 at Wellington Nursing Center in Knightdale.Ms. Mitchell was born in Kona, Hawaii in 1926, and was one of 16 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Joseph Edwin Mitchell.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jane Nahale Beamer of Kamuela, Hawaii; son, Rick Mitchell of Raleigh; granddaughter, Nahale Mitchell Kalfas and her husband, Nondas Kalfas of Durham; granddaughters, Marlene Springer and Hakaleleponi Springer Butler, both of Kamuela, Hawaii; and three great-grandchildren.
A funereal service will be held for family and friends Friday at 7 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, N.C.
The family will receive friends following the service from 7:30-9:00 p.m.
The burial will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Graham Memorial Park in Graham, N.C.

HENRY HUBERT MORTON
LA GRANGE -- Mr. Henry Hubert Morton, 72, of 2773 Fred Everette Road, died Thursday, February 18, 1999 at Lenior Memorial Hospital. He was retired from Tobacco Export Co. and Veteran of WWII. A private service will be held.
Surviving: daughter, Miss Laurie Morton of the home; sister, Mrs. Katherine Fearing of Morehead City, NC; special friend; Bee Thompson of Kinston, NC; and a niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ampha Nipa Wanaubon Morton.
Family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999.

CURTIS L. MURRAY
RALEIGH -- Curtis Lee Murray, of 509 Cabarrus Street, died Tuesday. Funeral service 1 p.m. Saturday at Lea Funeral Home. Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving: wife, Jennell H. Murray; daughters, Jamille McClain of Cary, LaTonya Jackson of Raleigh; son, Ahmad J. McClain of Morganton; sisters, Rosa Leach, Dianne Murray, and Geraldine Barnes, all of Raleigh; brothers, Willie Murray of New York, Eugene Murray of Newark, NJ, George Murray and Phillip Murray, both of Raleigh.
Visitation 12-1 p.m. Saturday at Lea Funeral Home.
A Lea Funeral Home Service, 231-1000.

ALTON H. OVERBY SR.
BOYKINS, VA -- Alton H. Overby, Sr., 78, a native of Southampton County, died Wed. Feb. 17, 1999 at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Born Oct. 28, 1920, he was the son of the late Robert and Nellie Beale Overby. He was the former owner, along with his brother Herman of Overby Motor Company and Banchville Machinery Company. He was a member of Branchville United Methodist Church and was co-founder of Branchville Fire Department and had served as fire chief for 26 years. He was a member of the Branchville Ruritan Club, the Little Texas Hunt Club, and the Boykins Meet & Eat Club. He had formerly served on the Branchville Town Council and was an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the Boykins American Legion Post #276.
He is survived by his son, Alton H. Overby Jr.; granddaughter, Jean Maire Overby; stepson, Dennis Wayne Overby; step-grandson, Justin Overby, all of Boykins; brothers, Linwood Overby of Raleigh, NC, Larry Overby of Hunterdale; brother-in-law, Clay Beasley of Branchville.
He was the husband of the late Corenia Bryant Overby and Josephine DeBerry Overby.
The Rev. L. Raymond McGarr will hold a graveside service in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel on Friday evening from 7-8:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Branchville United Methodist Church or to the Branchville Fire Department.

FRANCES H. PARKER
JACKSON -- Mrs. Frances Howell Parker, 83, of Rt. 1, Jackson, died February 18, 1999.
Mrs. Parker was the daughter of the late William Cornelius Howell and Lizzie Taylor Howell.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon Rhodes Parker and a son Mahlon R. Parker Jr. She was a member of Seaboard Baptist Church.
Mrs. Parker had been a member of the Extension Homemakers for 42 years and was a delegate to the National Extension Home in Orono, Maine. She had served on the local, county and district level as vice president and president on the State level. She also served as treasurer and was a member of the State Council in 1967. In 1968, she served as State 2nd vic-president and attended the National Conference as a delegate to Puerto Rico. She served as Vice-President and represented the State Council at the National Council in Blacksburg, Va., in 1969. In 1970, she served as State President. During this year the organization celebrated its 50th anniversary at Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh, where Gov. Robert W. Scott addressed about 4,000 club women. She then attended the National Council in Las Vegas, Nevada as a member of the National Council.
In 1971, she attended the Associated County Women of the World Conference in Oslo, Norway as an official delegate. There were 71 counties represented for a study of local and world problems.
In 1958 and 1968, Mrs. Parker was the Northampton County "Woman of the Year". She received the N.C. Homemakers Leadership award given by A and P Tea Company in 1968.
Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Parker Martin of Knightdale; four grandchildren, Hannah deLeon, Christopher Martin, Lee Martin and Frances Ann Barron; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Leroy Howell of Weldon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Saturday February 20, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Seaboard Baptist Church by Rev. Bert KirK. Burial will follow in Seaboard Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Seaboard Baptist Church, Seaboard, N.C. 27876.
Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, N.C., is handling arrangements.

HENRY "HANK" S. PARKER III
RALEIGH -- Henry "Hank" S. Parker, III, 18, of 6316 Rushingbrook Dr., died at Wake Medical Center on February 17, 1999. Hank was the son of H. Stuart Parker, Jr. and Karen Massey Parker of the home and he was the brother of Sarah Ashley Parker. Hank is also survived by his grandparents Sarah and Odell Tant of Zebulon and Henry and Sarah Parker of Lenoir, NC; aunts Patty Drake of Asheville, Cynthia Kaufmann of Kernersville; uncles Gregory Tant of Blowing Rock, Garland Tant and Matthew Tant of Zebulon; cousins Scott and Becky Elmore of Asheville, Michael and Daniel Kaufmann of Kernersville.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Zebulon United Methodist Church. Burial, Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
Friends may pay their respects at Massey Funeral Home, Zebulon, and the family will receive friends Friday evening 6-9 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Glenwood Ave., Raleigh and other times at Hank's home at 6316 Rushingbrook Dr. or at his grandparents' home, 912 Pearce Rd., Zebulon.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 3901 Computer Dr., Raleigh, NC 27609.

CLEVELAND "TANKIE" PEARCE
CHESAPEAKE, VA -- Cleveland "Tankie" Pearce, of 428 Fermwood Farm Rd., Chesapeake, formerly of Zebulon, NC, died Tuesday at Chesapeake General Hospital. He was the son of the late Alex Jantand Theorlia Pearce.
Surviving: sons, Dale of Norfolk, VA and Don of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Climer Whitley and Beulah Meeks of Middlesex, Lee Nell and Doris of Raleigh, Geneva of Norfolk, VA and Veorlia White of Chesapeake, VA; brothers, Jimmy E. and Willie of Middlesex, NC
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2201 Wingfield Ave., Chesapeake, VA.
Visitation 7-8 p.m. Fri., Feb. 19, 1999 at Fitchett Funeral Home chapel, 1821 E. Liberty St., Chesapeake, VA.

HENRY K. "HANK" PERRY
CHAPEL HILL -- Henry Kiah "Hank" Perry, of Chapel Hill died Thursday at his residence. He was 67. Hank was born on Jan. 5, 1932 in Alamance County to the late Harry Burgwyn and Notie Webster Perry. He was a Land Developer and attended University United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the University Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Dismuke Perry; three sons, Michael K. and his wife Lee Betts Perry of Wake Forest; Scott and his wife Susan Harvey Perry of Raleigh; and Todd B. and Judy Mullings Perry of Charlotte; six grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Walkers Funeral Home of Chapel Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the University United Methodist Church.

MICHAEL CARROLL RAYNOR
LINDEN -- Mr. Michael Carroll Raynor, 28, of 4838 Long Street, Linden, NC died Thursday. He was a graduate of Cape Fear Christian Academy and attended Wayne Community College, majoring in Forestry. Funeral service 3 p.m. Saturday, Sardis Presbyterian Church, Linden, NC. Rev. William Batman and Rev. Joseph Hester officiating. Burial, LaFayette Memorial Park.
Visitation, 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 1999 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

PERCY H. SEARS NOV. 17, 1921-FEB.17, 1999
HOLLY SPRINGS -- Percy Howard Sears, 77, died Wednesday.
Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church; burial in the church cemetery.
Percy Howard Sears of the Duncan Community was called Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday. We were all blessed to have loved and been loved by him.
Survivors: devoted wife, Letha Cotten Sears; sons, Jackie Sears and wife Jewell, Bobby Sears, Ronnie Sears and wife Denise; daughters, Linda Sears Cates and husband George, Donna Sears Peacock and husband Joe; brother, Coy Sears; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, all of the Duncan community.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Sugg Funeral Home.

RUTH C. SPELL
AUTRYVILLE -- Mrs. Ruth Culbreth Spell, 83 of 2324 Minnie-Hall Road, Autryville died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Hall's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carrie Parrish, Rev. Richard Spell and Rev. Andy Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Spell Cemetery.
She was a native of Sampson County, the daughter of the late Willie Culbreth and the late Docia Crumpler Culbreth Driscol. She was the widow of the late Jake H. Spell. She was a life time member of Hall's United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by one son, Johnnie Spell of Autryville; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joy Spell of Autryville; one sister, Mrs. Louise Hall of Roseboro; one step-granddaughter, Miss Georganna Hall of Autryville.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday evening at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hall's United Methodist Church, 4621 Minnie-Hall Road, Autryville, NC 28318.

WILLIAM "BILL" W. STRAYHORN
CHAPEL HILL -- William "Bill" W. Strayhorn, 42, died Wednesday, February 17, 1999, at Durham Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
He lived in Havelock and Newport for most of his life. He graduated from Havelock High School in 1974. He relocated to his family home in Chapel Hill in recent years.
Mr. Strayhorn is survived by his father, Kenneth Strayhorn and his wife, Jerry Strayhorn of Chapel Hill; sister, Mary Anne Williams of Jacksonville; brother, Ken Strayhorn of Chapel Hill; nieces, Allison Williams and Alex Strayhorn; nephew, John Strayhorn.
A graveside service at New Hope Presbyterian Church, Hwy. 86 North, Chapel Hill, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 19, 1999.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Youth Group New Hope Presbyterian Church, 4701 NC Hwy. 86 North, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Inc., Raleigh.
