RALEIGH - Laura Reiff Johnson, 91, formerly of Harrisburg, PA and Jacksonville, FL, died Thursday at the Brian Center Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Mark's Luthern Church of Jacksonville, FL.
Surviving: daughter, Victoria Johnson Purcell of Knightdale; granddaughter, Jacqui Purcell Lewis of Raleigh; two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements handled by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Inc., Raleigh

LIZZIE H. GLOVER
BAILEY - Lizzie Hinson Glover, 94, died January 11, 1999.
She was born January 7, 1905. Funeral, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Bailey United Methodist Church with Rev. Branson Sheets officiating. Burial, Bailey Cemetery.
Survivors: daughter and son-in- law, Mary Elizabeth and Thomas Evans of Zebulon; grandson and wife, Mel and Maribeth Privette of Pueblo, CO; grandson, Fred Privette of Knightdale; great-granddaughter, Hannah Privette of Pueblo, CO; sister, Kate Brooks of Marshville; brother, Joe Hinson of Columbia, SC.
Visitation 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 US 264 West.

WILLIE "BILL" HALES
April 15, 1931 - Jan. 11, 1999
ANGIER - WILLIE "Bill" Hales, 67, of 2729 Old Fairground Road, died Monday. Mr. Hales was employed with Davidson and Jones Construction Company for over 25 years, prior to starting his own company, Hales Construction.
Graveside service 2 p.m. Wednesday at Devotional Gardens, Dunn.
Surviving: wife, Gloria E. Hales; daughters, Linda Jasinski of Dunn, Sue Bradford of Apex; sons, Rick Hales of Goldsboro, Willie C. Hales Jr. and Adam C. Hales, both of the home; sisters, Jessie Woodruff of Selma, Rose Ballance of Kenly, Betty King of Plymouth, Judy Upchurch of Wilson; brother, Jim Hales of Raleigh; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation, 7-9 p.m today at Bryan- Lee Funeral Home, Garner.

DOROTHY R. HILDRETH
JAN. 4, 1932 - JAN. 10, 1999
RALEIGH - Dorothy Reavis Hildreth, 67, of 400 Fayetteville St., died Sunday. Burial, church cemetery.
Funeral service, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Surviving: brother, James W. Reavis of Apex; nieces, Rita R. Reaves of Greenville, Elizabeth R. Mann of Fuquay-Varina and Mary N Shank of Holly Springs.
The family will be at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner, 7-8 p.m. today.

MAGGIE W. ROUNTREE
GATESVILLE - Maggie West Rountree of Route One died January 11, 1999 in Pitt Memorial Hospital. A native of Tennessee, she was the widow of S.R. Rountree and the daughter of the late Hoke Holland and Lois Weatherspoon West. She was also preceded in death by her son, Andy Rountree and grandson, Michael Rountree.
She was a member of Gatesville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Surviving: one daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Bunch of Murfreesboro; three sons, William Rountree of Gatesville, James "Jimmy" Rountree of Gatesville, S.R. "Sonny" Rountree III of Fuquay-Varina; 11 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gatesville Baptist Church by the Rev. Gene Asbell. Burial at Oak Grove Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday night from 7-8:30 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville.

OPAL T. BAREFOOT
BENSON - Mrs. Opal Turnage Barefoot, age 72 of 595 Raynor Rd. died Sunday.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Rev. David Brooks. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens, Dunn.
Mrs. Barefoot was born October 30, 1926 in Johnston County to the late James and Iola McLamb Turnage. She was a Homemaker and a member of Fair Haven Church of God. Mrs. Barefoot was married to the late Parlia B. Barefoot.
Surviving include daughters, Patricia Ann Dorman of Raleigh and Janice Marie Wilkins of Dunn; sisters, Beatrice Hudson and Thurlene Baker, both of Dunn, Neva Parker of Benson, and Iunius Noles of Durham, brothers, Kirby Turnage and Clarence Turnage, both of Dunn, and Kerman Turnage of Four Oaks; five grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
Family will be at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and at other times at the home.

LENNIE W. WILLIAMS
ROLESVILLE - Lennie Wall Williams, 81, of 701 North Main Street, died Monday, January 11, 1999 at Wake Medical Center. She was born in Wake County and was the daughter of the late Early Gay and Minnie Bell Pearson Williams. She was a member of Beulah Christian Baptist Church and was married to Marshall E. Williams who preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, January 13, 1999 at Beulah Christian Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughters, Lois Mitchell of Youngsville, Janet Hicks, Eleanor Pridgen, Lillie Belle Jones and Edna Davis of Rolesville, Betty Raybon of Raleigh; brothers, William Wall, Jack Wall, Ernest Wall and Charlie Wall all of Raleigh, Vernon Wall of Richmond, VA and Robert Wall of Gardner, Mass; 11 grandchildren, one step- grandchild, 20 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; her only living aunt, Laura Fuller of Wake Forest and two special care givers, Margaret Hocutt and Ruth Hicks of Zebulon.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 208, Raleigh, NC 27605-1351.
The family will receive friends at Bright Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

OTELIA C. WILSON
RALEIGH - Otelia Coleman Wilson, of 1205 Crosslink Road, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 1999 at Wake Medical Center.
Before moving to Raleigh 22 years ago, she worked for Pharama-Critical Company (Squibb) in New York City. From St. Phillips Episcopal Church, she came directly to St. Ambrose Episcopal Church.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, a goddaughter, other relatives and special friends.
Family will receive friends from 12:30-1 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 1999. Funeral service follows at 1 p.m. at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church. Interment takes place at Carolina Biblical Gardens.

MAURINE CAUTHRON CARROLL
RALEIGH - Maurine Cauthron Carroll, born in Booneville, Arkansas on August 13, 1910, died in Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, May 6, 1999 at Sunnybrook Alzheimer's and Healthcare Center.
She was a caring wife, mother, Nana and teacher.
Maurine graduated from the College of the Ozarks in Ozark, Arkansas and taught in the Charleston and Little Rock, Arkansas school systems. She was a longtime member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church in Little Rock and later transferred her membership to St. Giles Presbyterian Church when she moved to Raleigh to be with her daughter, Susan Carroll McKnelly and family.
She was a member and president of the Women's City Club of Little Rock and the Garden Club and an active member of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority and the Riverdale Country Club.
In Raleigh she enjoyed and benefited from the Total Life Center Program at Asbury United Methodist Church. She loved her piano, flowers, and other beautiful things.
Maurine was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Carroll, and son, John A. Carroll Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Carroll McKnelly; son-in-law, Philip K. McKnelly, and grandchildren, David Philip McKnelly and Leslie Maurine McKnelly.
A memorial service will be held at the North Raleigh Funeral Home on Monday, May 10, 1999 at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Maurine's name to: Resources for Seniors (Creedmoor Road Center), Attention: Jill Baldwin, Asbury United Methodist Church, 6612 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27613.

JOHN CHARLES "JACK" CARRERE
MOUNT OLIVE - Mr. John Charles "Jack" Carrere, 72, died Friday. Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen B. Carrere; two sons, John Carrere Jr. and wife Joy, of Bayboro, and Timothy Joseph Carrere and wife Carol of Goldsboro; one sister, Betty Hogan and husband Joseph of Hilton Head, SC; two brothers, Thomas A. Carrere and wife Pat of Carrollton, GA, and James M. Carrere and wife Charlotte of Garner; four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-5 p.m., and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

MABEL RIMMER EURY
RALEIGH - Mabel Rimmer Eury, 94, died Wednesday, April 5, 1999. Mrs. Eury was the wife of the late Dumas Jefferson Eury, her spouse of 53 years, who preceded her in death on February 21, 1994. She was born in Person County, and came to Raleigh in 1954. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for 45 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Rosemary Eury Benge of Union Grove; granddaughter, Kellene Wells Bock; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Emily Bock, all of Union Grove; sister, Frances Rimmer of High Point; many cherished nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with interment following in Berrys Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Timberlake.
The family received friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home, 600 St. Mary's Street, and other times at LaQuinta Suites, Crabtree Valley.
Flowers are welcomed, or memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2100 Noble Rd., Raleigh, NC 27608.

WILLIAM "BILL" C. FORSTER
MIDDLETOWN, OH - William "Bill" C. Foster, 61, died May 5, 1999 at his residence.
He was born on August 10, 1937 in Springfield, Ohio.
Prior to 1994 he served in the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer-E9.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Forster; mother, Mary Kelly and stepfather, Ray "Sporty" Kelly.
Surviving: wife of 10 years, Sharon Lee Hangbers; sons, William "Billy" G. Forster and wife, Deborah C. of Clayton, Roy Forster of Garner, Tommy Forster and wife, Janet of Clayton, Tony Hangbers of Middletown, daughter, Bridget Crabtree and husband Mark of Clayton, NC; five grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia King of Fort Walton Beach, Fl., Judy Hively of Yellowsprings, Ohio.
Funeral 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 1999, Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, Middletown Ohio, with pastor Doug Sczerba officiating. Burial, Butler County Memorial Park.

VIRGINIA SANDEFORD FRAZIER
ROCKY MOUNT - Virginia Sandeford Frazier, 71, died Friday, May 7, 1999. She was born July 10, 1927 in Waynesboro, GA, daughter of the late Hill and Wilma Chandler Sandeford. She was the widow of the late Wilson Milton Frazier, a member of Red Oak Baptist Church and had lived in the Red Oak Community for 53 years.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Sandy and Rhonda Frazier of Red Oak, Alvin and Kathy Frazier of Ayden; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Andrew Johnson of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Jeremy and Catryna Johnson, Ryan and Kim Johnson, Andy Johnson, Mandy Frazier, Cam Frazier, Allison Frazier, and Beth Frazier; great-grandchild, Tyler Johnson.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 1999 from Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Chapel. With the Rev. Rucker Burnette officiating. Burial will follow in Red Oak Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday night at the Funeral Home and other times at the home of Sandy and Rhonda Frazier, 10585 Red Oak Blvd, Nashville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Red Oak Baptist Church, Red Oak, NC.
