JOHN FRANK SPIVEY JR.
RALEIGH - Mr. John Frank Spivey, Jr., 79, passed away at Duke University Medical Center on April 19, 1999 after a struggle with cancer. The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 1999 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Greensboro. Burial will follow in the church columbarium.
John was a native of Asheville, and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a 1950 graduate of NC State University in Forestry and served as County Forester for the NC Forest Service from 1951 to 1983.
An active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, John was also quite involved with the St. Andrew's/St. Pius Food Pantry. His loves included his church, his family, golf and the outdoors.
He and his wife had recently moved to Raleigh to be closer to their family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jo Spivey; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Victor Harris; grandson, Trey, all of Raleigh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Andrew's/ St. Pius Food Pantry, 2105 W. Market St., Greensboro, NC 27403.
Hanes-Lineberry, North Elm Chapel, is assisting the family.

DENNIS W. WEEKS
FUQUAY-VARINA - Dennis Wright Weeks, 72, retired supervisor with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, died Saturday. Funeral 11 a.m. Monday at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Surviving: son, Kim Weeks and wife Maria of Fuquay-Varina; grandson, Shane; sisters, Christine Capps and Margie Erickson, both of Fuquay-Varina, Jessie Harvell of Willow Spring.
Mr. Week was preceded in death by his brother, Mack Weeks and sister, Audrey Weeks Oliver.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Sugg Funeral Home.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

P. CONRAD BAILEY
WAKE FOREST - P. Conrad Bailey, 83, formerly of Garffe Sherron Road, died Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Raleigh Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Wake County and was the son of the late Vance and Lena Smith Bailey. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church; was a retired chef with the State of NC and was married to Beatrice Ray Bailey who preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, April 26, 1999 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodland Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his daughters, Betty B. Gallagher and Barbara B. Davis of Wake Forest, Faye B. Johnson of Durham; ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Bright Funeral Home from 7-8:30 Sunday evening and at the home of Betty Gallagher at other times.

STELLA L. BOWDEN
ANGIER - Stella Louise Bowden, 84, a homemaker, died Friday, April 23. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Overby-Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Timmy Blair officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Rt. 2, Angier.
Surviving: daughters, Betty Lou Herring of Angier, Ina Jean Davis of Benson, Sandra Anderson of Dunn; sons, Edward and Cecil Bowden of Angier, Jerry Bowden of Lillington; sisters, Elector Champion of Sanford, Joyce Herring of Erwin; half sisters, Connie Johnson of Four Oaks, Shirley Starling of Baltimore, Md.; half brother, Dennis Starling of Dunn; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Overby-Johnson Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. today; other times at the residence of Ed Bowden of Bowden Family Lane, off circle drive, Angier.

KATHRYN GILLUM BRYAN
RALEIGH - Kathryn Gillum Bryan, 88, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Cedars Nursing Home in Charlottesville, VA. Born November 17, 1910, in Soldier, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Francis Gillum. She lived for many years in Detroit, Michigan and also in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Bryan, and her three children: Martin L. Bryan; William B. Bryan; and Shirley Ann Muller.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ann S. Bryan of Waynesboro, Virginia, and her son-in-law, Robert E. Muller of Simpsonville, SC. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, Leslie Ingersoll, William Bryan, Jan Muller, Constance Heitman, Sharon Dillon, Robert A. Muller, Howard Bryan, James Bryan, Stewart Bryan, Chris Spencer, Ellen Bryan and April Bryan. In addition, she is survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont. 1290 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22901, or to the charity of one's choice.

HENRY WHELESS CUTCHIN JR.
ROCKY MOUNT - Henry Wheless Cutchin Jr., 74, retired Geriatics Specialist with Edgecombe County Social Service and World War II Army Veteran, where he received the Bronze Star, died April 23, 1999.
Mr. Cutchin was born in Nash County, September 21, 1923, son of the late Henry Wheless and Anna Hardee Pridgen Cutchin. He was a member of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Surviving: wife, Virginia Woodard Cutchin; daughters, Bryan Cutchin Wright and husband, Edward Turner Wright of Middleburg, Va. and Anna Katherine Gazzetta and husband, David Charles Gazzetta of Elk Horn, Neb., son, Henry Wheless Cutchin III of Whitakers; grandchildren, Mary Houston Wright, Elizabeth Bryan Wright, Nathan Charles Gazzetta and Joshua David Gazzetta.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pineview Cemetery with the Rev. Bollin Millner officiating.
Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home, Sunset Avenue. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the home, 2513 Sexton Road.

JOSEPH "JOE" W. GOSWICK
LOUISBURG - Joseph "Joe" Wright Goswick, 79, of 104 Lumpkin Blvd., Louisburg died Saturday, April 24, 1999 at his home. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He also farmed in Franklin County most of his adult life. He was a member of Perry's Chapel Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday from the Perry's Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert O. Kantner, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Eileen Bell Goswick of the home; two daughters, Sandra Goswick Rowe and husband William of Rocky Mt., Betty Jo Goswick and friend Joe Medlin of Louisburg; three sons, Ronnie Goswick and wife Lisa of Franklinton, Larry Goswick and wife Jane of Louisburg, Kenny Goswick of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Tommy Goswick of Louisburg; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the Lancaster Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Perry's Chapel Baptist Church, 894 Perry's Chapel Rd., Franklinton, NC 27525.

HOMER C. HOLLOWAY
HOLLOWAY - Homer C. Holloway, age 95, of #1 Holloway Lane in Chapel Hill, died Saturday at home. A native of Orange County, he was the son of Julius Franklin and Alice Browning Holloway. Mr. Holloway attended N.C. State University. He owned and operated Holloway Motors from 1964 to 1990. A life-long Chapel Hill resident, Mr. Holloway was a member of University Baptist Church and the Chapel Hill Civitan Club.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Shirley Nichols Holloway; his children and their spouses, Thelma McBride and H. Charles Holloway, Jr. of Chapel Hill, Sue Sanders and Donald Gene Holloway of Chapel Hill, and William and Penelope "Penny" Holloway Cline of Lynchburg, VA; a daughter-in-law, Betty Holloway; 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by seven brothers, four sisters and two grandsons.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at University Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, with the Rev. Dr. Mitch Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St., Durham (across from NC Eye & Ear Hospital). Flowers are acceptable or contributions may be made to a favorite charity of one's choice.

JAMES E. JUDD
RALEIGH - James E. Judd, of 416 Peyton Street, died Thursday.
Funeral service Monday 1 p.m. at Lea Funeral Home. Burial, Carolina Biblical Gardens.
Surviving: spouse, Alma Judd of the home, stepdaughter, Shirley Mack of Winston-Salem and Betty McCain of Chapel Hill; stepsons, Robert Gwyn, Jr. of Fort Belvoir, VA; sisters, Margaret Judd of Newark, NJ, and Dale Eddy and Betty Green both of East Orange, NJ, Louise Kelly and Marie Kelly both of Apex; brothers, Zebbie Judd and Harold Judd both of Newark, NJ; two grandchildren. Also surviving, a foster daughter, Kay Carter of Garner and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation Lea Funeral Home 6-7 p.m. Sunday.

IONE W. KING
MORRISVILLE - Mrs. Ione Woodlief King, 75, of 3106 Globe Road, Morrisville, NC, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, in Durham Regional Hospital.
She was a native of Wake County and was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Sarah Powell Woodlief, Sr. She had been a resident of the Morrisville community for 55 years and was a retired employee of Litho Industries and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church and was very active in church activities.
Surviving are her husband, Joe Cephus King; two sons, Danny J. King of Greensboro and Phillip E. King of Louisville, KY; one daughter, Brenda K. Porter of Apex; two brothers, Aubrey Woodlief, Jr. and Bervin Woodlief, both of Wake Forest; five sisters, Lavoy Adams and Clina Wheeler, both of Durham, Hortense Gibson of Richmond, VA, Gaynelle Joyce Tilley of Rocky Mount and Nadine Bradley of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Roy E. King; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Herman Baptist Church. Rev. Phillip Adams and Rev. Darrell Sauls will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held tonight from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Hudson Funeral Home and at other times at her home, 3106 Globe Road, Morrisville.
Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the Mt. Herman Baptist Church, 2919 Olive Branch Road, Durham, NC 27703.

WILLIAM T. KRETZER
GREENSBORO - Unifi, Inc., one of the world's largest processors of polyester and nylon yarns, is saddened to announce that William T. Kretzer, its former President and Chief Executive Officer, died Friday, April 23, 1999. He was 52 years old.
Bill was one of Unifi's first employees joining the Company in 1971. He began his career in marketing and sales. His leadership skills and dedication to the Company earned him the titles of President and CEO in 1985. Under his direction the Company grew from $216.0 million in sales in 1985 to 1.4 billion in 1998. Unifi employs approximately 6,000 people worldwide.
Bill was recognized as a leader in the textile and apparel industry serving the industry as a Director of the American Textile Manufacturers Institute and as a Director of the North Carolina Textile Foundation at N.C. State University.
Bill will be greatly missed by all 6,000 Unifi employees.
Bill was a graduate of NC State University and member of the 1964-1968 basketball team.
A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 26 at Christ United Methodist Church.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara C. Kretzer; by son, William Cannon Kretzer of Greensboro; by daughter and son-in-law, Cameron K. and John Parks of Atlanta, Ga.; by brother, Michael S. Kretzer of Wharton, NJ and by his sister, Marcia K. Limbo of Omaha, NE. He has 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Hanes-Lineberry, North Elm Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the NCSU Foundation - CHASS Fund, 106 Caldwell Hall, Box 8101, Raleigh, N.C. 27695 or to the Boy Scouts of America, General Greene Council, 1405 W. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27408.

JOSEPH E. (NED) McALLISTER
WHISPERING PINES - Joseph Edward (Ned) McAllister of Whispering Pines, NC, died Thursday, April 23 in Charlotte.
Ned was born July 4, 1914 in Durham, North Carolina, a son of the late William Howard McAllister and Bessie Perkinson McAllister. He attended the University of North Carolina, class of 1937.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Whitney McAllister; son, David Whitney McAllister; brother, William Howard McAllister, Jr. of Pittsboro; two grandsons, David Whitney McAllister, Jr. and Steven Todd McAllister.
Private memorial service will be held at a later date.
If desired, a memorial contribution may be made to a charity of your choosing. Harry and Bryant Co. is serving the family of Mr. McAllister.

JESSIE P. MOORE
RALEIGH - Rev. Jessie Pearl Moore, of 1114 N. King Charles Road, died Thursday. Funeral, Monday 7 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church. Burial, Carolina Biblical Gardens.
Surviving: daughter, Kimberly P. Bobbitt of the home; sisters, Lovey Wilson of Hampton, VA, Elizabeth Burton, Beatrice Winston and Mae Sanders, all of Raleigh, Thelma Myles of Philadelphia, PA; brothers, William (Bill) Walton, Jr. of Louisburg and Luke R. Walton of Raleigh; one grandchild.
Visitation, 6-7 p.m. Monday.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Wake County.
