THADDEUS JOHN "TED" FIEBICH
FORT WORTH, TX - Thaddeus John "Ted" Fiebich, 91, died Jan. 18, 1999 in Fort Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace. The family will gather there for a memorial service on Saturday.
Those wishing to materially mark his passage may wish to contribute to the Refugee Resettlement Fund at the Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church, Cary.

HERBERT ELZAR FOREMAN III
RALEIGH - Mr. Herbert Elzar Foreman, III of 2401 Countrywood Road died January 16, 1999. Mr. Foreman was owner/manager of Foreman's Automotive, Inc. Service will be Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at 1 p.m. at Lea Funeral Home Chapel. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Margaret V. Foreman of the home; sons, Matthew Herbert Foreman of Raleigh and James "Michael" Elzar Foreman of the home; mother, Mattie W. Foreman of Plainfield, NJ; sister, Mrs. Viviyanna Foreman Turk of Plainfield, NJ; sisters-in-law, Carolyn V. Rose, Kay Vincent, and Phyllis Vincent all of Silver Springs, MD, and Patricia T. Vincent of Pinehurst, NC; brothers-in-law, Oscar Lee Turk of Plainfield, NJ and Claude P. Vincent of Pinehurst, NC; grandchild, Tyrik J. Stewart of Winston Salem, NC. Also surviving: one aunt, Addie Foreman Spence of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; mother-in-law, Christine Rogers Vincent of Hoffman, NC; five nieces; four nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19th at Lea Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m.

HELEN HILL HART
LOUISBURG - Helen Hill Hart, 82, of Route #7, Louisburg, died Tuesday, January 19, 1999. She was born in Franklin County and was the daughter of the late Otha and Lanie Clifton Hill. She was married to John Leonard Hart who preceded her in death and she was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday morning, January 21, 1999 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary McNair officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hart is survived by her son, Gary Hart of Advance, NC; sisters, Beatrice G. Hill and Gwen Murphy of Youngsville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home from 12-5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. The body will lie in state from 10:30-11 a.m. Thursday morning in the funeral chapel.

JAMES "RAY" HARWARD JR.
DURHAM - James Raymond "Ray" Harward, Jr., age 82, of 1005 W. Trinity Ave. died Monday in Duke Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Apex, he was a graduate of Oak Ridge military Academy. Mr. Harward received the B.A. degree in Business Administration from UNC - Chapel Hill in 1940. He proudly served his Country as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during both WW II and the Korean conflict.
Mr. Harward's first job was in the accounting department of Proctor-Barber, a farm equipment company in Fuquay-Varina. Later, he became a partner with Southern Foundry Co. in Raleigh, where he spent twenty years. Following retirement from Southern Foundry he joined the Triangle J Council of Governments as a bookkeeper. In his latter years Mr. Harward worked out of his home, applying his business skills in tax preparation for many area residents. He gave generously of his time as a volunteer at Durham County Library, where he donated his services to help people with their tax returns.
He was an avid sports fan and an exceptional gardener. Ray Harward will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and his kind, thoughtful gestures to his friends and neighbors in need. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the J.B. Morris Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mary Esther Williams Harward; his daughters, Cheryl Lynn Harward of Chapel Hill and Susan Ann Harward of Durham; and a sister Frances H. Connell of Charlotte.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Davis officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #21, c/o Bobby Finch, 910 Fleming Dr., Durham, 27705 or to First Baptist Church, 414 Cleveland St., Durham, NC 27701.

DORIS LEE HOBBS
RALEIGH - Mrs. Doris Lee Hobbs, 73, died Monday, January 18, 1999 in Wake Medical Center.
She was born in Wake County on January 29, 1925, the daughter of the late Luther Hulan and Mary Stevenson Denning. She was a member of the Haven Free Will Baptist Church, and had worked for Southern Bell and also for the Wake County Courthouse.
Surviving are her husband, Alvah C. Hobbs of the home; two sons, Clifford "Buddy" Hobbs of the home, Mark Douglas Hobbs of Willow Springs; daughter, Karen Michelle Whitley of Boone; three grandchildren, Ben and Allison Hobbs and Angela Whitley.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Mitchell Funeral Home, St. Mary's Street, Chapel, by special family friend, Brady Jeffcoat and Rev. Jim Summerson.
Entombment will follow in the Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home, 600 St. Mary's St., Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the S.P.C.A., 219-B Garner Business Court, Garner, N.C. 27529-4067.

REV. CHARLES NILES HOGANCAMP
WENDELL - Rev. Charles Niles Hogancamp, 71, of 1183 Morphus Bridge Road, died Tuesday, January 19, 1999 at Wake Medical Center. Reverend Hogancamp was the retired minister of Aiken Road Baptist Church in Eden and also served as the Chaplain of the Rockingham County Prison Unit in Eden. Funeral service 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, Knightdale. Visitation immediately following the funeral service from 7:30-9 p.m.
Surviving: wife, Frances Hall Hogancamp; daughters, Lorilee H. Falls and her husband, William of Wendell, Rena H. Raper and her husband, Bruce of Wendell, Justine H. Beatty and her husband, Tony of Spring Hope; sons, Sgt. Jason Niles Hogancamp and his wife, Maryanne of Fort Campbell, KY, Sgt. Brian Charles Hogancamp and his wife, Teresa of Camp Pendleton, CA; grandchildren, Joshua E. Horton of Eden, Mary Susan Horton of Camp Pendleton, CA, Joshua Charles Hogancamp Raper of Wendell, Jason Niles Hogancamp Jr. of Danville, VA, Amanda Jane Hogancamp of Fort Campbell, KY, Cassandra Lee Beatty and Charles Luther Beatty, both of Spring Hope, Jessica Sarene Hogancamp of Fort Campbell, Ky.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 7:30-9 p.m. following the funeral service at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home.

RALEIGH - Brian Keith Holder, 28, of 201 Maywood Ave., died Monday.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday at Caraleigh Baptist Church, Raleigh.
Surviving: wife, Catherine Watkins Holder; mother, Deborah Stevens of Garner; sister, Angela Byrd and husband, Mark Byrd of Garner; grandfather, Lincoln Cribb of Winnabow, NC; niece Heather Stevens of Garner and their dog, Rusty.

CHRISTINE R. MAY
JUNE 5, 1932 - JAN. 17, 1999
RALEIGH - Christine Robbins May, 66, of 204 Winterlochen Road, a retired Registered Nurse, died Sunday at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Garner where she served as President of Baptist Women, WMU Director and Sunbeam Director.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Garner. Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving: husband, John Murphy May; daughters, Robin M. Moore and her husband, Johnny Moore of Durham, Kimberly M. McCaffity and her husband, Darwin McCaffity of Raleigh; grandchildren, Beth Moore, Sarah Moore, Will McCaffity, John Murphy McCaffity and Maggie McCaffity; sister, Betty Robbins McAuley of Rocky Mount; brother,Thomas B. Robbins of Corea, Maine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Lois Batchelor Robbins; sister, Jeanette Bulluck.
Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 601 St. Mary's St., Garner, NC 27529.
The family will be at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

MRS. GEORGE W. O'ROURKE
RALEIGH - Mrs. George W. O'Rourke, of 3555 Springmoor Cir. died on Monday. Memorial service, Thursday, 7:15 p.m., The Auditorium of Springmoor Retirement Community.
Surviving: husband, James R. O'Rourke, Sr. of Raleigh; son, Dr. James R. O'Rourke, Jr. of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Joyce D. O'Rourke of Raleigh; grandchildren, Reginald DeForest O'Rourke, II of Wheeling, WV and Candice D. O'Rourke of Raleigh; nephew, Robert Evans of Louisville, KY; a great nephew, Terry Evans of Las Vegas, NV; a cousin, Helen Exum of Frankfort, KY, and a host of other relatives and friends.

MARY B. PENCE
WAGRAM - Mrs. Mary Buie Pence age 98 died Tuesday at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Montpelier Presbyterian Church in Wagram with Rev. James Johns officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include her son Dr. James Jerome Pence Jr. of Wilmington, NC; two grandsons Stephen M. Pence, Laurinburg, NC and J. Jerome Pence III of Wagram, NC.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Montpelier Presbyterian Church in Wagram.

RUSSELL R. POOLE SR.
SILER CITY - Mr. Russell Roy Poole, Sr., 75 of Siler City died Tuesday, January 19, 1999 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Funeral, 2 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 1999 at Smith & Buckner Chapel with Rev. Thomas Sweeley officiating. Burial, Chatham Memorial Park.
He was a retired Chatham County jailer, a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Submarine service, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors: sons, Russell R. Poole, Jr. of Siler City, Tommy Lee Poole of Bennett; brothers, Clay Poole of Greenville, SC and Jimmy Poole of Apex; sister, June M. Kennedy of Kinston; grandchildren, Russell R. Poole, III, Catherine Poole, Jami Poole, Rachel Poole and Tony Smith.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, at other times at the home of Russell R. Poole, Jr., 387 Hudson Rd., Siler City.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Marie Bray, 1346 Sunset Drive, Siler City, NC 27344.

JOHN E. SELLEW SR.
HILLSBOROUGH - Mr. John Edwin Sellew Sr., 77, of 8207 Wilkerson Road, Cedar Grove, N.C., died Tuesday at his home. He was the son of the late William Walton Sellew Sr., and Mabel Freeman Sellew. He was born in Roanoke, Va. He attended Roanoke College and graduated from Georgia Tech in 1951. He was retired from Western Electric and also the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he was a traffic engineer. He had served as a deacon at Grace Baptist Church in Cedar Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Jordan Sellew of the home; six children, John "Chip" Sellew Jr. of Roxboro, Marla Ludlam of Mebane, William Sellew of Greenwood, S.C., David Sellew of Birmingham, Al., Tom Sellew of Raleigh, Walt Sellew of Mebane; 13 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sellew was preceded in death by his brother and two sisters.
The family is at the home. They will receive friends at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough, from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
The funeral will be at Grace Baptist Church, Hwy. 86 N., Cedar Grove, at 3 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund or Triangle Hospice.

ROCKY MOUNT - Oliver King Sorrell, 53, of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999. Mr. Sorrell was born in Wake County to the late Norwood and Ina Smith Sorrell. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving: daughter, Gail Sorrell of Rocky Mount; brothers, Allen Sorrell of Greensboro, Tommy Sorrell of Wilmington; sister, Faye Rigsbee of Morrisville, Linda McDaniel of Garner; several nieces and nephews.

WILBERT STRICKLAND
FOUR OAKS - Mr. Wilbert Strickland, 89, 1352 NC 96 South, Four Oaks, died Sunday P.M. at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Mr. Strickland was born in Johnston County on November 12, 1909 to the late R. Bud and Ida West Strickland. He was a longtime member of Lee's Chapel AC Church and choir director for 22 years. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lee's Chapel AC Church with Rev. Lorne Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Barbour's Chapel Church Cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Josie Barbour Strickland; daughter, Betty Sue Duke of Clayton; son, Gary Hugh Strickland of Cary, Bruce E. Strickland of Smithfield; sisters, Thora Wilkins of Four Oaks, Hilda Wood of Garner, Edna Strickland of New Bern, brothers, Raeford Strickland of Claremont, CA, Randall Strickland of Smithfield, Norman Strickland of Wilson Mills, Reid Strickland of Clayton, Auburn Strickland of Greensboro; two grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Strickland.
