FRANK JASPER PALADINO
RALEIGH - Frank Jasper Paladino, 72, of 2411 Condor Ct., died Friday, April 16, 1999.
Mr. Paladino was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Jane Froller Paladino.
He was a US Navy Veteran having served in WWII. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Paladino was an Accountant for Western Union Co.
A memorial mass will be conducted 4 p.m. Monday in the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbium.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Anne Lucrezia Paladino of the home; daughter, Jane Preston and husband, William of Raleigh; son, Thomas J. Paladino and wife, Vicki Sue of Highlands, NJ; two sisters, Eleanor Brennan and Lilly Ward, both of Long Island, NY; two granddaughters, Marissa and Michele.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the American Lung Association of NC-Research Triangle Region, 800 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC 27605.

ROBERT HORTON "BOB" QUINCY
HALIFAX - Robert Horton "Bob" Quincy, 57, died Friday.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro, with Dr. Harry Kahn officiating. Burial will follow in the Quincy Family Cemetery.
Mr. Quincy was vice-president of Lakewood Travel Center, Halifax, served on the Board of Directors of Southern Bank, Roanoke Rapids and was a member of White Hart Masonic Lodge #2, Halifax. He was past Director of Board of Directors Southern Bank, Roanoke Rapids, a retired farmer, attended N.C. State University and served in United States Marine Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jo Quincy; daughter and son-in-law, Titian Quincy and George Wood of Clayton; brother, Tommy Quincy of Tarboro.
Family will be receiving friends at Carlisle Funeral Home, Monday, 7-9 p.m. and other times at the home, 4744 Aurelian Springs Rd., Halifax.
Funeral service by Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro.

MELVERE R. RAYNOR
FOUR OAKS - Mrs. Melvere R. Raynor, 71, of 200 B. Allen Crossroad Road, Four Oaks, died April 17, 1999. Funeral, 2 p.m. Monday April 19, 1999, at Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church, with the Rev. Sam Worley officiating. Burial, Banner Chapel Church Cemetery.
Survivors: husband, Graylon Raynor; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Wayne Walker of Tampa, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Glenda Gail Raynor of Raleigh; sisters, Lessie Mae Allen of Four Oaks, Laura Faye Barefoot of Dunn; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Sunday April 18, 1999, at West and Dunn Funeral Home in Benson.

THOMAS T. SIZEMORE
CARY - Thomas T. Sizemore, 67, of Ocean Creek Drive, Myrtle Beach, and Cary, NC, died Friday, April 16, 1999 at his Myrtle Beach residence.
He was born January 1, 1932, in Mobile, AL, a son of the late Thomas T. and Earl Maree Sizemore.
Mr. Sizemore moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in 1988. He was owner of The Auto Glass Center in Cary, NC and a real estate investor.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie McLemore Sizemore of North Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Andrew E. Sizemore of Franklin, OH; a daughter, Terri E. Sizemore of Ashville, NC; a brother, Robert Sizemore of Foley, AL; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 1999 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, Myrtle Beach, SC.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

FRANK S. "MIKE" STRICKLAND
CLAYTON - Frank S. "Mike" Strickland, age 66, of 703 E. Joyner Street, died Saturday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday at McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel with entombment to follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Rev. Charlie Carroll officiating.
He is survived by: wife, Betty P. Strickland of Clayton; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie S. and David Hogg of Clayton; son, Michael Strickland; sister, Violet Davis of Smithfield; brothers, Horace Strickland of Manassas, Virginia, Charles Strickland of Clayton, Bobby Strickland of Smithfield, H.B. Strickland of Smithfield, Ed Strickland of Clayton; five grandchildren, Amanda Hogg, Blake Hogg, Jason Hogg, Terri Murray, Nicole Strickland. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Fred Strickland and brother, Joe Strickland.
The family will receive friends at the McLaurin Funeral Home, Sunday night from 7-9 p.m.

ALBERTA THOMPSON
GOLDSBORO - Alberta Thompson, 89, 801 Slaughter Street Goldsboro, N.C., died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Faith United Holy Church in Goldsboro, N.C. The bishop H.M. Best will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Goldsboro, N.C.
Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of the late John T. Parks and Eliza Lewis Parks.
She is survived by three daughters , Gloria Thompson, Endrid Thompson and Dorothy Troublefield all of Goldsboro, N.C.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel Goldsboro, N.C. and at other times at the residence.

PEARL P. WEAVER
Sept. 9, 1921 - April 17, 1999
ANGIER - Pearl Parrish Weaver,77, of 47 Linwood Holland Road, died Saturday. Funeral, 2 p.m. Monday at Bryan Lee Funeral Chapel, Angier. Burial, Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Surviving: daughters, Lillian Holland and Brenda Smith both of Angier; sons, Gene Weaver and Richard Weaver both of Angier; sister, Mattie Ashworth of Angier; sisters-in-law, Maggie Parrish of Buies Creek, and Elva Sauls of Garner; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren;
The family will be a Bryan Lee Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. today and at other times, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Linwood Holland, 871 Mabry Road, Angier.

RUTH A. WHITE
GREENVILLE - Ruth Allen White, 95, of Maple Street, died April 16, 1999 in Virginia Beach Healthcare and Rehab Center.
Miss White was born in Bertie County and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Greenville. She received her Masters Degree from East Carolina University and taught school in Roanoke Rapids for eleven years before returning to Greenville to serve as Dean of Women at East Carolina University for 33 years until her retirement in 1970.
Survivors include a sister, Blanche Grady of Greenville, TN; three brothers, Cyril White of Pensacola, FL, Merritt White of Chesapeake, VA, Luther White of Sebastopol, CA; sister-in-law, Eva White of Colerain, NC; six nieces and one nephew.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 1999 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, by the Rev. Arthur Kirk. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday and other times at the home of Eva White, Colerain, NC. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity. Garret Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements.

JOSHUA ADAM HEWETT
OCT. 3, 1980 - MARCH 11, 1999
RALEIGH - A service of remembrance will be held for Joshua Adam Hewett in the Raleigh Rose Garden on Sunday, April 25, 1999 at 12-noon. The Rev. Marcia F. Curtis, Affiliate Minister, Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will preside.
Family and friends will present their remembrances of Josh and balloons will be released with messages for him. Family and friends will then gather at the home of Josh's mother, Dr. Karen Nicholson Paine, 3 Henderson Street, Raleigh.

BRETT MATTHEW SHOLDERS
RALEIGH - Brett Matthew Shoulders, 22, died Thursday, April 22, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon Elliott Sholders and unborn child; parents, James and Diane Sholders; brother, Jeff Sholders; niece, Alexis, all of Wilmington; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Kegel of New Jersey; paternal grandmother, Ethel Mae Sholders of New Jersey.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 1999 at Highland Baptist Church, Crowder Rd., Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his unborn child, 10711 Marylou Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.

KATHRYN GILLUM BRYAN
RALEIGH - Kathryn Gillum Bryan, 88, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Cedars Nursing Home in Charlottesville, VA. Born November 17, 1910, in Soldier, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Francis Gillum. She lived for many years in Detroit, Michigan and also in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Bryan, and her three children: Martin L. Bryan; William B. Bryan; and Shirley Ann Muller.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ann S. Bryan of Waynesboro, Virginia, and her son-in-law, Robert E. Muller of Simpsonville, SC. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, Leslie Ingersoll, William Bryan, Jan Muller, Constance Heitman, Sharon Dillon, Robert A. Muller, Howard Bryan, James Bryan, Stewart Bryan, Chris Spencer, Ellen Bryan and April Bryan. In addition, she is survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont. 1290 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22901, or to the charity of one's choice.

GERTRUDE WAYNE CHANDLER
RALEIGH - Mrs. Gertrude Wayne Chandler, 72, of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Lexington, NC, died Friday, April 23, 1999 in the Clare Bridge of Cary.
Mrs. Chandler was born in Columbia, SC on December 30, 1926, the daughter of the late Edward Anthony and Thelma Saylor Wayne. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dickson Chandler.
She was very active in the PTA and school board in Clemmons, NC and was also a member and organist at the Clemmons Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, James Dickson Chandler, Jr. of Portsmouth, VA and Paul Michael Chandler of Muncie, IN; one daughter, Kitty Lynn Holt of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Edward Anthony Wayne, Jr. of Charlottesville, VA; one sister, Margaret McReynolds of Vero Beach, FL; one granddaughter, Tyson Leigh Holt; and one grandson, Phillip Chandler Holt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 26, 1999 in the Mitchell Funeral Home Glenwood Ave. Chapel by Rev. J. P. Johnson. Interment will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Disease Association Eastern NC Chapter, 400 Oberlin Rd., Raleigh, NC 27605.

DONALD ELLSWORTH CURTIS
RALEIGH - Donald Ellsworth Curtis, 75, of Raleigh, died Thursday, April 22, 1999.
A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.

NANCY HOLLIMAN GRIFFIN
MONROE - Mrs. Nancy Holliman Griffin, 57, died on April 22, 1999 at her home after a long and courageous struggle with cancer.
Nancy was born on December 31, 1941, to Ivory Hugh and Retha Holliman. She attended Graham High School. She and her husband, Ron were married in Graham, N.C., on August 21, 1960, and were later blessed with two sons, Rob and Shan. They have resided in Monroe, since 1964.
Nancy was a longtime employee of the NC Cooperative Extension Service before retiring in May of 1998, due to her illness. She served as State President, and other positions of the NC Cooperative Secretary's Association.
Nancy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1964. She loved her church dearly, and served in many different capacities, including, Elder, Clerk of the Session, Deacon, Youth Counselor, Sunday school teacher, Circle chairperson, and others. In 1985, Nancy was presented an Honorary Life Membership by the Women of the Church, The Presbyterian Church (USA). On April 18, 1999, she was named Elder Emeritus in the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, one of the highest lay honors bestowed by the church. Nancy will be remembered for her graciousness and generous, loving spirit.
In addition to her husband, Ron, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Charlotte Griffin of Raleigh, and son, Shan of the home; grandsons, Zachary, Davis, and Sam Griffin of Raleigh; stepfather and his wife, Buck and Jean Massey of Burlington; brother and sisters-in-law, Hugh and Ellen Holliman of Lexington and Greg and Jenni Holliman of Burlington; father-in-law, and his wife, Bob and Bessie Wagnor of Burlington; nephews, Chad Holliman of Wilmington and Brad Holliman of Wilmore, Ky.; niece, Kelly Holliman of Burlington; and many other precious family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Todd; mother, Retha Holliman Massey; father, I.H. Holliman, and niece, Sue Ellen "Suzi" Holliman.
Mrs. Griffin's funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church with burial in Lakeland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday evening at Gordon Funeral Service of Monroe.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Prayer Chapel, 302 E. Windsor St., Monroe, NC 28112.
