MARJORIE LAMM BURGESS
AUG. 24, 1924 - JULY 7, 1999
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Marjorie Lamm Burgess, 74, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999 at her home in Charlotte.
She was predeceased by her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Ivey A. Lamm, Sr. of Rt. 2, Lucama.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Burgess of Charlotte; daughters, Susan B. Turek of Goodlettsville, TN, Jane B. Emery of Old Hickory, TN; son, Jeffrey Paul Burgess of West Columbia, SC; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Josephine L. Beattle of Middletown, CN, Wanda L. Moore of Wilmington, Sylvia Lamm of Lucama; brother, Ivey A. Lamm, Jr. of Lucama.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, 1999 in Oakhurst Baptist Church, Charlotte.
Memorials may be given in her memory to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 5037 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28205.
Arrangements are by Carolina Funeral and Cremation Center of Charlotte.

DORA MOODY FIELDS
APEX - Dora Moody Fields, 95, of 3125 Old Holly Springs Apex Rd., Apex, died July 7, 1999 due to an extended illness. She was a native of Chatham Co. a life time member of Meroney's United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Claude William Fields in 1977.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 1999 in the Meroney's United Methodist Church in Chatham Co., Hwy. 902 in the Bear Creek Community. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Warren Owens.
Survivors are: sons, William "Junior" Fields and wife, Catherine of Apex, Joe Fields and wife, Geneva of Minco, OK, Wayne Fields and wife, Barbara of Portsmouth, VA; daughters, Virginia Coble and husband, Charles of Staley, NC, Myrna Holmes of Portsmouth, VA; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Moody of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 9, 1999 at Apex Funeral Home, 511 West Williams (Hwy. 55) Apex, NC and other times at the home of William J. Fields and wife, Catherine.

WALTER G. "JERRY" GIBSON
DAMASCUS, MD - Mr. Walter Gerald "Jerry" Gibson, 54, a Division Director for the U.S. Department of Energy's Technical Guidance Division, died Thursday, July 1, of colon cancer at his home in Damascus. He was the husband of Jane Kenyon Gibson of Raleigh, North Carolina to whom he was married in 1966. Born March 16, 1945 in Douglas, Georgia he was the son of Minnie Tally Gibson of Goldsboro, NC, and the late Air Force Captain Walter M. Gibson, Jr.
Mr. Gibson grew up on military bases in Georgia, Texas, Maryland and Florida. He graduated from Lakenheath AFB Dependents High School in England in 1963. He graduated with honors in 1967 from North Carolina State University, earning a Bachelor of science degree in physics. After working as an analyst for the CIA for one year, he was commissioned into the Air Force in 1968, serving Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH until retiring in 1972 as a captain. From the Air Force Mr. Gibson went to Los Alamos National Laboratory where he again worked as an intelligence analyst. In 1973 he went to work for the Atomic Energy Commission/Department of Energy. Mr. Gibson enjoyed gourmet cooking and spending time on his sail boat "Summer Wind", in Annapolis.
Surviving besides his wife and mother are his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Michael K. Gibson of Baltimore; daughter, Elizabeth J. Gibson of the home.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 1999 at Olin L. Molesworth, P.A. Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville.
The family expresses that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of memorial contributions to the Hereditary Colorectal Cancer Registry, The John Hopkins Hospial, 550 North Broadway - Suite 108, Baltimore, Maryland, 21205 or to Montgomery Hospice Society, 1450 Research Boulevard, Rockville, Maryland 20850.

JAMES ROBERT HOLT
RALEIGH - James Robert Holt, of 2721 Big Oak Street, died Friday. Funeral 1 p.m. Saturday at Lea Funeral Home. Burial, Carolina Biblical Gardens.
Surviving: wife, Kim Holt; daughters, Karen Holt of the home, Janice Holt of Raleigh; Sonya Stewart of the home; daughters-in-law, Chevella Holt of Raleigh and Toya Holt of Bronx, NY; sons, Jamie Holt of Raleigh, Kelvin Holt of Bronx, NY and Donald Newsome of Elizabeth, NJ; sisters, Georgianna Hearst of Bridgeport, CT; brothers, Charles Holt and Olin Owens Holt both of Winston-Salem, NC; nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Saturday, at Lea Funeral Home.

LILLIE W. LANE
OCT. 4, 1914 - JULY 8, 1999
SMITHFIELD - Graveside service for Mrs. Lillie Williams Lane will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Yelverton Grove Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Billie Lawson Jr.
Surviving: husband, Ronald G. Lane; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Tim Southerland and Jean and Marvin Bryant of Clayton; grandchildren, Karen B. Davis, Glenn Bryant and Michael and Kelly Southerland; great-grandchildren, Meagan and Hunter Davis; nephew, Fred Williams; nieces, Marian Baucom, Sylvia Rawlett and Margaret Dixon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Wilson's Mills Baptist Church, P.O. Drawer "C" Wilson's Mills, NC 27593.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Underwood Funeral Home.

BRUCE LEFFERS
DURHAM - Mr. Bruce Leffers, 83, died Thursday morning at Durham Regional Hospital. Mr. Leffers was born in Tampa, FL and had lived in Durham since 1942. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. Mr. Leffers retired from Amphenol in 1982. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Mr. Leffers was married for 55 years to Elizabeth P. "Lib" Leffers, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Larry Bruce Leffers and wife, Carol Ann of Durham; a daughter, Carol Leffers Bolick and husband, Oscar Lee of Roxboro; and five grandchildren, Darrell Lee Bolick, Emily Carol Bolick, Ryan Everett Leffers, Lindsey Marie Leffers and April Renee Leffers.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel by Rev. Greg Allison and Rev. Craig Hurley. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be Frank Murphy, Jeff Whitt, Darrell Bolick, Harold Cabe, Dick Fowler, Ryan Leffers and William Newton. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 at Clements Funeral Home.

JACOB ALEX LOBUR
WAKE FOREST - Jacob Alex Lobur, 12, of 5029 Huntmaster Trail, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999. He was born in Wake County and was a student at Durant Road Middle School.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, July 10, 1999 at Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Preston Wagner officiating.
Jacob is survived by his parents, Jeri and Diane Lobur of Wake Forest; sisters, Jennifer Lobur of Wake Forest and Jackie Bean of Fayetteville; brothers, Jeri Lobur, Jr. and Jeffrey Lobur of Fayetteville; grandparents, Ray and Annabell Nave of Bedford, PA and Norma Dornick of FL; God Parents, Harriett and Jay Clapper of Wake Forest.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, 701 South Main Street, Wake Forest 27587.

EDNA MAY LUIHN
RALEIGH - Mrs. Edna May Luihn, 90, of Capital Towers, Raleigh, NC, died Friday, July 2, 1999 at her residence.
Mrs. Luihn was born in Bloomfield, NJ on June 29, 1909, the daughter of the late Augustus and Ida Mortimer Steinert. She was a member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are three sons, Allan Luihn of Cary, NC, Stuart Luihn of Raleigh, NC and John Luihn of Durham, NC; two daughters, Norma (Jean) Redix of Bonita Springs, FL and Nancy R. Luihn of Apex, NC; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 1999 in the Mitchell Funeral Home Glenwood Ave. Chapel by Rev. Michael McKellar. Entombment will follow in the Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grandfather Home for Children, P.O. Box 98, Banner Elk, NC 28604.

ZIAGUL REIZA NAJAFIE
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Ziagul Reiza Najafie, 82, of Alexandria, Va, died July 7, 1999. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 10, 1999 from 1-3 p.m at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, St. Mary's Street. The graveside service will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
Mrs. Najafie is survived by her sons, Ehsan Najafie, Farid A. Najafie and Azim M. Najafie, all of Raleigh and owners of 7-Even and the Super 7-Even, and Fahim A. Najafie of Alexandria, Va.; daughters, Zakia Houssiny of Springfield, Va., Sahla Safder of Alexandria, Va. and Safia Perzad of Afghanistan; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

JULIAN "JAN" A. ONETO
WATERLILY - Julian "Jan" Alan Oneto, 54, of Coinjock, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999 in an Elizabeth City hospital. Mr. Oneto was a catholic, real-estate agent and a member of the Dare County Jaycees. Mr. Oneto was the son of the late Julian Augustine and Lima Sermons Waldrop. He is survived by his wife, Dana Buchanan Oneto of the residence; three daughters, Alanna D. Oneto-Wood of Harbinger; Amy Oneto Noffsinger of Chesapeake, Va., Lori Oneto Queensberry of Kill Devil Hills; four stepsons, Robin, Phillip, Daniel and Tommy Warren; two sisters, Susan Griffin of Durham, Jeanie Oneto George of Kill Devil Hills; three granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at Twiford's Colony Chapel, Sunday July 11, 1999 at 2 p.m. with Elder Lindberg White Sr., officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Twiford's Colony Chapel is handling the arrangements.

ROBERT EARL QUINCY
TARBORO - Robert Earl Quincy, 85, died Wednesday.
Graveside service 2 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Julian Thompson officiating.
Survivors: daughter, Betty Lou Moody of Marlboro, Md.; sons, Robert Earl Quincy Jr. of Raleigh, Jack Miller Quincy of Charlotte Hall, Md.; brother, Jake Quincy of Morganton; grandchildren, Robin Moody, Terri Norris and Chris Quincy; great-grandchild, Savanna Norris.
The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home Saturday from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.

ELIZABETH MARIE SCHATTE
HOUSTON, TX - Elizabeth Marie Schatte, infant daughter of Dr. Ed and Dawnelle Schatte, died June 2, 1999 at Methodist Hospital, Houston.
Also surviving: paternal grandparents, Curtis and Jackie Schatte of Garner, NC; maternal grandparents, Bob and June Bjercke of Houston; paternal great-grandmother, Elsie Wanicke of East Chicago, IN; uncle, Bob Schatte of Durham, NC; aunts, Carol and Johanna Bjercke of Houston; paternal great aunts and uncles, Carole and Leon Langner, Denise and Charles Korbel, Pat and Lou Polus and Mary Lou Geisler; maternal great aunts and uncles, Denie and Keith Lassman, Carol Wonderlich, Creta Wonderlich and Roy and Bunny Bjercke; many cousins and great-cousins.
Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mary Mother of the Church, Garner, NC.

MAKENZIE ROSS TAYLOR
HENDERSON - Makenzie Ross Taylor, of Wilmington, formerly of Henderson, died Thursday, July 8, 1999 at Cypress Pointe.
She was born in Lillington, on September 15, 1915, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reid Ross, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Armour Woodrow Taylor.
Mrs. Taylor graduated from Peace College and East Carolina University, and taught school in North Carolina for 38 years.
Surviving are her son, Armour Woodrow Taylor Jr.; daughter, Margaret Taylor Robison and husband, Marvin, all of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Jordan Roberson-Taylor, Forrest Taylor Robison, William Reid Robison, Ross Oakley Robison, all of Wilmington, and Armour Woodrow Taylor III of Weisbaden, Germany; two brothers, Neill McKay Ross and Charles Reid Ross of Lillington.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 1999 at Summerville Presbyterian Church, Lillington.
The family will receive friends at Summer Villa following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Summerville Presbyterian Church, Lillington, N.C. or Summer Villa Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 186, Lillington, N.C. 27546.

THELMA B. VINSON
MURFREESBORO - Thelma Brown Vinson, 85, formerly of the 400 block of Carolina Drive, died July 8, 1999, in Autumn Care of Roanoke Valley, Rich Square, N.C.
Mrs. Vinson was born in Hertford County and was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church. She was the widow of Doc Lee Vinson.
Survivors include a son, Carroll Vinson of Greer, S.C.; sister, Frances Cole of Murfreesboro; brother, James Brown of Potecasi; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 1999 in Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Billy C. Sellers.
The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, from 7-8 p.m. Friday.
Memorial donations may be made to Meherrin Baptist Church Building Fund.
Garrett Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, is handling arrangements.
