JAMES ROY PEARSON JR.
RALEIGH - James Roy Pearson Jr. 65, of 1737 Leigh Dr., Raleigh, died at his home on March 9, 1999 after a brief illness.
Mr. Pearson was preceded in death by his parents, J. Roy Pearson and Jane Avera Pearson.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Elizabeth Warwick of Lumberton; son, William H. Pearson of Ann Arbor, MI; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Alford and her husband, Allan of Garner; a son, James K. Pearson and his wife, the former Jean Marie Reinoso of Raleigh; four grandchildren; brother, John W. Pearson and wife, June of Mechanicsville, VA; one niece; three nephews.
Please join the family to celebrate his life, at his home from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999. There will be a private family service in the spring in Watauga County.
Please make all contributions to Hospice of Wake County, 4513 Creedmoor Rd., Raleigh, NC 27612.

ROBERT OWEN BISHOP
JUN 8, 1919 - MAR 10, 1999
RALEIGH - Robert Owen Bishop, 79, of 6304 Malibu Drive, died Wednesday.
Service 11 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel. Burial, Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Surviving: wife, Rosa Fulcher Bishop; daughter, Joyce Thrailkill and son-in-law, Frank Thrailkill of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Eunice Estell Wells of Gastonia, and Mozelle Brown of Raleigh; brother, Irving Bishop of Morrisville; grandson, Gary Chandler and granddaughter-in-law, Leeondra Chandler of Fuquay-Varina and great-grandson, Matthew Chandler of Fuquay-Varina.
Visitation from 7-9 pm. today, Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.

SALLIE S. BOWMAN
CHAPEL HILL - Mrs. Sallie Sanders Bowman, of Carol Woods, died Saturday, February 27, at the age of 100.
Born in Johnston County, Mrs. Bowman was a long-time resident of Chapel Hill and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick O. Bowman, Attorney.
A graveside service will be held at The Old Chapel Hill Cemetery Saturday, March 13th at 11 a.m.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Rodman Townsend, of Knoxville, TN; a son, Dr. Fred Bowman, of Chapel Hill; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Orange County Rescue Squad or to a favorite charity.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

DAVID W. DEAN
APRIL 15, 1956-MARCH 11, 1999
WENDELL - David Warren Dean, 42, of 372 Turnipseed Rd., died Thursday afternoon at Wake Med. He was a commercial construction installer with Acousti Engineering.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999 at Clyde's Chapel Baptist Church with Dr. Baxter Prevatte officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Teresa "Terry" J. Dean; stepdaughter, Laura D. Strickland of the home; mother, Margaret S. Dean of Wendell; sister, Debra D. Coley and husband Tommy of Wendell; brother, W. Frank Dean of Wendell; niece and nephew, Amy and Dean Coley of Wendell.
He was predeceased by his father, J. Warren Dean and a stepson, Cameron Strickland.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Clyde's Chapel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 16615 Buffalo Rd., Wendell, NC 27591.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home, other times at the home of Margaret S. Dean, 435 W. Academy St., Wendell.

MURVEREE F. DEANS
RED OAK - Murveree Fisher Deans, 79, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at Nash General Hospital. She was born July 26, 1919 in Nash County, the daughter of the late Jack A. Fisher and Annie Bell Moore Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Earl Deans and by her two sisters, Eunice Kearns and Theresa Bilbro. Mrs. Deans was a member of the Red Oak Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Claudette and Roger Reges of Red Oak, Becky Lou and Jon Smith of Asheville; two brothers, Sullivan and Dorothy Fisher, Gilbert Fisher of Red Oaks and Doris Fisher of Rocky Mount; brother-in-law, Charles Bilbro of Nashville, NC; four grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 1999 at Red Oak Cemetery with Rev. Rucker Burnette officiating.
The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Bowling Funeral Home, 661 English Road, and other times at the home of Claudette and Roger Reges, 2010 Northern Nash Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Oak Baptist Church Memorial Fund.

FELIX V. DODD
EMPORIA, VA - Felix Verdi Dodd, age 84, died March 11, 1999. He was owner/operator of the Emporia Western Auto/Ace Hardware store for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Bass Dodd, Emporia, VA; three daughters, Julia D. Masters, Battleboro, NC, Linda D. Chandler, Angier, NC, and Martha Dodd, Skippers, VA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 13, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Main Street United Methodist Church, Emporia, with interment to follow in the Emporia Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Echols Funeral Home, Emporia, VA.

ADDIE B. HALES
ZEBULON - Addie Brantley Hales, 76, 304 Pine Ridge Road, Zebulon, NC, died March 10, 1999.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Franklin Co. Burial will follow in the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving: daughters, Yvonne A. and husband Dennis Debnam of Zebulon, Jennette A. and husband Ronnie Debnam of Zebulon; son, Mike and wife Amy Hales of Zebulon; brother, Bill Brantley of Zebulon; sisters, Betty Denton of Zebulon, Frankie Bissette of Chesapeake, VA, and Willie Williams of Hannahan, SC; grandchildren, Cameron Hales, Megan Hales, Michael Hales, Lakan Perry, Brice Debnam and Nicholas Debnam.
The family will receive friends and relatives 7-9 p.m. Friday night at Family Funeral Care, 1201 N. Arendell Avenue, Zebulon, NC and at other times at the home of Jennette and Ronnie Debnam, 405 Hales Store Road, Zebulon, NC.

LEAH H. HASKINS
FRANKLINTON - Leah Hicks Haskins, 83, died, March 11, 1999 at Rowan Eagle Nursing Home in Danville, Va.
She was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Haskins and a son, Donald Hicks Haskins. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Hicks Sr.
She was a member of the Franklinton Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Franklinton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dupree Sanders officiating. Burial, Fairview Cemetery.
Survivors: sons, Robert W. Haskins of Danville, Va., Woodrow B. Haskins of Tacoma, Wash; brothers, Donald C. Hicks of Raleigh, Joe Hicks of Murfreesboro, John Hicks of Chester, Va.; sisters, Mattille Whitaker of Franklinton, Virginia Smith and Helen Burleson, both of Murfreesboro, Betty Pate of Ahoskie; six grandchildren.
Family will receive friends immediately following service in Fellowship Hall, Franklinton Baptist Church.

RAYMOND F. KREINER
RALEIGH - Funeral services for Raymond Frederick Kreiner, 89, of Raleigh who died Wednesday, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday from First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Road.
Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery, Wapello, Iowa on Tuesday, March 16, 1999.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Raymond and Esther Kreiner Music Scholarship Fund at First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, N.C.

ALMA SULLIVAN LA CELLE
SMITHFIELD - Alma Sullivan La Celle, 94, died Thursday. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Sullivan Family Cemetery on Highway 39 North of Selma.
Surviving are her daughters, Joyce La Celle of Fayetteville and Janice Daugherty of Hillsborough; sister, Essie Mae Strickland of Wendell; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Friday at the Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.

L.D. LLOYD JR.
RALEIGH - Lonnie David "L.D." Lloyd, Jr., 75, of 4832 North Hills Dr., died Thursday at Rex Hospital. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest. Burial will follow in the Youngsville Town Cemetery.
Mr. Lloyd was a member of the James B. Green Masonic Lodge #735, Wake County Shrine Club and Amran Temple in Raleigh, he was a member of the American Legion Post #197, The VFW #1001 and the James B. Green Chapter #352 OES. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, and had been co-chairman of the US Navy Armed Guard in WWII. He was a member of the Historical Ship Society which participated in the refurbishing of the S.S. John W. Brown, Baltimore, the S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien, San Francisco, and the S.S. Lane Victory, San Pedro California, which all are in use today. He was a member of the US Navy Memorial Society in Washington, DC, a member of the Hillyer Memorial Christian Church, and he had retired as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Raleigh after 43 years of service.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Freeman Lloyd; daughter, Judy Dale Lloyd Thigpen of Atlantic Beach; granddaughter, Kimberly Lloyd Thigpen of Santa Monica, CA; sister, Vera Bella Palma of Morehead City; brothers, Thraudy Lloyd Sr. and wife, Una of Youngsville, Charles April "CA" Lloyd and wife, Hilda of Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William Hassell Thigpen, brothers, Codee Lloyd Jack "LE" Lloyd and Whitson Lloyd, and a sister, Virginia Lloyd Duke.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

IRENE SEARCY PARRISH
BENSON - Mrs. Irene Searcy Parrish, 90, of 314 W. Parrish Dr., died Wednesday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Benson United Methodist Church. The Revs. Henry W. Lee, Bruce Taylor, and Mrs. Terry Waddell will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.
Mrs. Parrish was born February 12, 1909 in Alabama, to the late Oscar M. and Lula Robinson Searcy. She was married to the late Donald H. Parrish Sr.
After graduating from Troy State, Mrs. Parrish taught school in Alabama. She was a homemaker and a member of the Benson United Methodist Church and served in many capacities. Mrs. Parrish was very active in organizing the first chapter of the Benson Girl Scouts.
Surviving include her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine P. and Henry W. Lee of Benson; son and daughter-in-law, Donald H. and Susan J. Parrish of Smithfield; sisters, Myrtle S. Harrison and Jennie S. Frank, both of Montgomery, AL; four grandchildren, Victor H. Parrish, Charles T. Parrish, Sarah C. Lee and D. Kirk Parrish.
Family will be at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 7-9 p.m. Friday.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Benson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 72, Benson, N.C. 27504; or one's favorite charity.

ETHEL S. POLLARD
RALEIGH - Mrs. Ethel Sparrow Pollard, 89, of 2429 Bertie Drive, Raleigh, died Wednesday night at her home. She was the widow of John Martin Pollard, Jr. A native of Durham she had lived in Raleigh for the past 28 years.
Surviving: daughter, Sue Pollard Wood of the home; grandchildren, John D. Wood and Kimberly Wood; one great-grandson, Brian Shew Jr.
Graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the Maplewood Cemetery, old section in Durham. Officiating will be the Rev. Becky Sansbury.
Instead of flowers, memorials should be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary's St., Raleigh, NC 27605.
A family will receive visitors at Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home, Durham 7-9 p.m. Friday.
