GEORGE A. HARDING
CHAPEL HILL - George A. Harding passed away Saturday, July 17, 1999. He was born in Lawrence, Kan. on June 1, 1918.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sarajane of 57 years. His loving family includes daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and John Stow; three grandsons, Ryan, Jeff and Kevin Stow. Many other friends and relatives will miss him greatly.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, at Advent Lutheran Church in Chapel Hill.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Research or to your chosen charity.
Arrangements by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Raleigh.

ANNA KATHRYN BUDD KING
PINEHURST - Anna Kathryn Budd King, 54, of 42 Barton Hills Court, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999 of cardiac arrest. Memorial service 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, 1999 at First Baptist Church, 314 N. 2nd Ave, Siler City with Rev. Brian Reynolds officiating. A private graveside service will follow.
Mrs. King was a native of Siler City, a graduate of Jordan Matthews High School and Guilford College. She was a retired school teacher from Pinecrest High School, Pinehurst.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Budd.
Survivors: daughters, Alisa Marie King Johannes of Newton, MA and Jennie Claire King of Wilmington, NC; mother, Ruth Thomas Budd of Siler City; brother, Thomas Michael Budd of Siler City; sister, Cecilia Budd Grimes of Siler City.
No visitation is scheduled.

CLARA THOMPSON KNIGHT
RALEIGH - Clara Thompson Knight, 85, of 345 Springmoor Drive, died Wednesday, July 21, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Pasquotank County, the daughter of the late Judge Charles Everett and Sarah Bartlett Thompson and the wife of the late Kenneth Thigpen Knight Jr. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church where she was a very active member and was recently honored as senior member of the year; a member of the Women's Club of Raleigh, Retarded Citizens Association; participated with Meals on Wheels in Wake County and active in the Springmoor Retirement Community.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by one daughter, Sarah Walker Knight Hartpence of Raleigh; one son, Thompson Scott Knight of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Elizabeth T. Gause of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Bobbi Hartpence Forbis of Salisbury, Charlyne Hartpence Marehood of State College, PA, Kenneth John Hartpence of Davidson, Thompson Knight and Cynthia Knight, both of Raleigh and two great grandchildren, Jeremy Scott Forbis and Caroline Morgan Forbis, both of Salisbury, NC.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 24, at 2 p.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City.
The family will receive friends in the lobby of the Funeral Home following the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 1520 Canterbury Road, Raleigh, NC 27608.

SHARON LEE DORSEY LARCHER
CARY - Sharon Lee Dorsey Larcher, 48, of Cary, died July 20, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 22, 1999, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, NC.
Born in Baltimore, MD, on November 22, 1950, she was the daughter of Edward Dorsey and the late Doris Krause Dorsey. Sharon was a graduate of Notre Dame of Baltimore. She worked with Morgan and Company Appraisers in Raleigh, and prior to that, she worked for Volvo Truck Corporation in Greensboro, NC, for 14 years, as Senior Procurement Analyst.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Raymond Larcher; her daughter, Leanne Larcher; her son, Bryan Larcher; a sister, Debbie Connolly of Baltimore, MD, and her father, Edward Dorsey of Baltimore, MD.
in lieu of flowers, Sharon wished for memorials to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN.

NANCY JONES PARRISH
GARNER - Nancy Jones Parrish, 64, of 612 Buffaloe Road, died Monday, July 19, 1999 at Wake Medical Center. She was a retired secretary with Jefferies Appraisal Service.
She is survived by: her mother, Ora Lee Jones of Raleigh; two daughters, Wanda Massey of Raleigh, Brenda Miller of Raleigh; one son, Robert Parrish of Apex; one brother, C.W. Jones of Fayetteville, NC; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 24, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery "House of Memory" in Raleigh.
Arrangements by Cape Fear Crematory.

MARTHA L. "MARTY" SANDUSKY
RALEIGH - Martha "Marty" Louise Sandusky, 49, died Wednesday at Rex Hospital.
A private graveside service will be held Friday.
Surviving are her parents, Dr. Fred and Louise Sandusky of Wake Forest; a brother, John Sandusky of Wake Forest.
The family has requested no flowers and memorial contributions be made to the Fred Sandusky Library Fund c/o Wake Forest Baptist Church, 107 E. South Ave., Wake Forest, NC 27587.
Arrangements by Bright Funeral Home and Cremation, Wake Forest.

DONALD GRAFTON SMITH
APEX - Donald Grafton Smith, 53, of 2141 Frazier Ln., Franklinton, died July 19, 1999. He was a native of Wake Co., a member of the Green Level Baptist Church and a salesman with Steve Auto Parts in Butner. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel officiating will be Rev. Myron Yandle. Burial will follow in the Green Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Apex.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Brodie W. Smith and Lela L. Smith.
Survivors are: son, Dennis G. Smith of Youngsville; sisters, Betty Kelbaugh and husband, Bud of Raleigh, Judy Kimbrough and husband, Glen of Stem, Jean Poe and husband, Doug of Apex; brother, Brodie Hugh Smith and wife, Ethel of Apex.
Memorials may be given to the Green Level Baptist Church, 8509 Green Level Church Rd., Apex, NC 27502.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 1999 prior to the service time at Apex Funeral Home, 511 West Williams St., (Hwy. 55) Apex, NC and other times at the home of Jean and Doug Poe, 1216 S. Salem St., Apex.

ELIZABETH SNELLING
RALEIGH - Elizabeth Snellings of 2005 Milburnie Road, died Monday. Funeral service 2 p.m. Friday at Lea Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Carolina Biblical Gardens.
Surviving: daughters, Mary Barrington of CT, Martha Carson, Cora Davis, Doris Cook and Patricia Davis, all of Raleigh, Delorise Jones of Wake Forest, Mildred Stewart of Apex; sons, Jimmy Snellings of Wake Forest; sisters, Dorotha Alston and Mary Ruth Wiggins, both of CT; brother, Joseph Ray of Greensboro; 32 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Lea Funeral Home.
A Lea Funeral Home Service, 231-1000.

ROSE M. SOTTILE
APEX - Rose Miuccio Sottile, died July 18, 1999, after a short illness.
Born September 2, 1918 in Kingston, New York. She moved to Cary, NC in 1978.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sottile.
Surviving: daughter, Teresa Dunn and her husband, Robert with whom she resided; son, John and wife, Valerie, and two grandsons, Robert Dunn and Nicholas Sottile; great-grandchildren, Christine Samuel and Joseph Dunn.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Marlena Dunn.Also surviving are five sisters and two brothers.
The memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Apex, Saturday, July 24, 1999 at 11 a.m.
The family will receive friends at the home of John and Valerie Sottile, 1003 Oakgate Court, Apex, after the service.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC 27605.
Arrangements by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Inc., Raleigh.

IVAN MARTIN BRENNAN
TUCSON, AZ - Ivan Martin Brennan, born in Arlington, VA on September 13, 1978, died in Tucson, Arizona, July 16, 1999. He was the beloved son of Tina Martin and Michael Brennan and stepparents, John Kreilkamp and Jody Brennan. He had two sisters, Jade Brennan and Stella Kreilkamp and a foster sister, Shirley Wetherholt.
Ivan attended Hale and Broughton High Schools in Raleigh, NC. He loved music and was an avid reader and student of classic literature who wrote beautiful poetry. His presence in the lives of his friends and large extended family will be sorely missed.
He is survived by grandparents, Anne Martin, Rita Brennan and Jack Brennan; great-aunt, Kale McCarthy; great-uncle, Paul McCarthy; uncles, Tony Martin and John Brennan; and aunt, Eleni Martin.
Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 1999 at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 3313 Wade Avenue, Raleigh, NC.

ALLEN N. HARRIS
FEB. 1, 1915 - JULY 28, 1999
RALEIGH - Allen Newell Harris, 84, a retired machinist at NCSU Department of Electrical Engineering, died Wednesday. Born in Franklin Co., he was the son of Essie and Junious Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Shearin Harris. A 1936 graduate of Nashville Automobile College, he was a charter member of Highland Baptist Church and was instrumental in creating The Lonesome Boys, a senior string band.
Funeral Service at 3 p.m. Sunday at Highland Baptist Church. Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving, daughter, Trillis Harris of the home; son, Phillip Harris and his wife Joan of Raleigh; granddaughter, Susan Harris of Raleigh; sister, Mamie Hunt of Louisburg and a brother, Herbert Harris of Asheboro.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Road, Raleigh, NC 27603.

ELTON R. JONES
FUQUAY-VARINA - Elton Ross Jones, 69, of 908 Award Street, died late Wednesday evening, July 28, 1999 at Western Wake Hospital in Cary. He was born on Oct. 12, 1929. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999 at Evangel Community Church. Burial, Wake Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Jones was the owner and operator of J&S Fishing Tackle Company in Fuquay-Varina for 40 years. Elton was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He never knew a stranger and was always lending a helping hand. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Rebecca Jones, infant son, Lanny Ross; brothers, John Henry, Cleo, Vinson, Ellis Ray and Eugene, Jr.; sisters, Lois Dye and Kathleen Champion.
Surviving his wife of 48 years, Jean Godwin Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sharon Jones of Fuquay-Varina; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Richard Jones of Moncure; grandsons, Jason Morgan and his wife, Misty of Aberdeen, Andy Jones of Greensboro, Jared and Dustin Jones and granddaughter, Kasey Jones, all of Fuquay-Varina; step-grandson, Larry Lawrence Jr. of Fuquay-Vaina; sister, Rebecca Jones Dunn of Benson.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, Raleigh Branch, 5409 Belsay Drive, Raleigh, NC 27612.

WILLIAM S. "BILL" KELLY, JR.
TITUSVILLE, FL - William S. Kelly, Jr. died July 23, 1999 at Parrish Medical Center in Florida after a brief illness. Mr. Kelly retired from McGraw-Hill in 1991 after a 40-year career as a salesman. Bill was born June 27, 1928 in Statesville, NC to William S. Kelly and Pearl Murdoch Kelly. He attended Statesville High School, joined the U.S. Army in Tokyo in 1946 and attended UNC-CH through 1950. As a journalist he began his career shortly thereafter with McGraw-Hill. (Special thanks to Paul Baumgartner) for his friendship.
Mr. Kelly was a very gentle man who loved animals and, as a father of four, was very giving and caring and will be missed by many. He loved fishing, golfing, and Carolina, but especially loved his family and friends.
Bill, a widower, had married his high school sweetheart Joanne after a 50-year separation in 1996 and enjoyed the three happiest years of his life. Special thanks to you, Joanne, for that.
Bill was preceded in death by his former wife, Peggy S. Kelly, the loving mother of his four children.
Other survivors include wife, Joanne B. Kelly of Titusville, FL; two stepchildren, Sharon Randall and Larry Parks Thomas, both of Reading, PA; sons, Robert I. Brenner and wife Karen of Lawton, OK and William S. Kelly, III of Raleigh; daughters, Ann K. Starnes and her husband Jerry, andElizabeth Kimball "Kim" Kelly, both of Raleigh; grandchildren, Joshua, Levi, Chris, Misty, Anna, Nathan and his fishing buddy Russell; six great-grandchildren.
A graveside Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 1999 at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, NC.
Donations may be made to Stop Gap, 725 DeLeon Avenue, Titusville, Florida 32780. Joanne and Bill worked there each week to help feed the poor. Mr. Kelly loved Jesus and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Titusviile.
Dad, we know you are fishing now with your Uncle Clyde.
