JESSE S. SHELLABARGER
DEC. 26, 1902 - APR. 21, 1999
GARNER - Jesse Samuel Shellabarger, 96, of 109 Tiffany Lane, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday at home. He was a retired Engineer with the Illinois Central Railroad having worked out of Jackson and Memphis, TN. Mr. Shellabarger was formerly of Titusville, FL and Jackson, TN.
Graveside service, 1 p.m. Monday, May 3, 1999 at Hollywood Cemetery, Jackson, TN.
Surviving: daughter, Jean S. Donley of Dallas, TX and son, Robert Shellabarger of Garner, NC; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was married for 57 years to Dee Penniston Shellabarger who passed away in 1980.
In lieu of flowers, it was his wish that memorial contributions may be made to your church or charity of choice.
Service by Smith Funeral Home, Jackson, TN.

LEE JUSTIN STEWART
FOUR OAKS - Lee Justin Stewart, 17, of 625 Stewart Road, Four Oaks, NC died Monday, April 26, 1999. He was a senior at South Johnston High School.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 1999 at Horton Cemetery in Zebulon, NC.
Surviving are father, Ralph Lee Stewart, Jr. of Four Oaks, NC; mother, Deborah Craig Stewart of Vilas, NC; brother, Sean Dustin Stewart and fiancee Wendy Hardy and Dylan Hardy of Four Oaks, NC; maternal grandmother, Emma Horton Craig of Cary, NC; special family friend, Trish Hicks; aunt and uncle, Faye and Edward Stephenson; cousins Kelli and Will Stephenson; aunt and uncle Jan and Joe Hodges; cousins Randy and Stewart Hodges; uncle, Reed Stewart; cousins, Denise and Bryan Stewart; uncle and aunt, Michael and Jeanne Craig and many other relatives.
Visitation will be at Minshew Funeral Home in Four Oaks Wednesday, 7-9 p.m. and at other times at the home of Sean Stewart, 111 Spring Branch Road, Holt Lake South, Four Oaks, NC.
Flowers are appreciated and memorials can be made to Four Oaks Rescue, P.O. Box 681, Four Oaks, NC 27524 or to Johnston County Public Library, 305 East Market Street, Smithfield, NC 27577.

MARVIN G. VICK
KINSTON - Mr. Marvin Gilbert Vick, 85, of 2100 Greenbriar Road, died suddenly Sunday, April 25, 1999 at his residence.
He was a retired stock broker, member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Kinston B.P.O.E. Lodge and Duke University Quarter Century Club. Marvin was a lifelong resident of Kinston. He had been co-owner of the Kinston Laundry which was founded by his father. Marvin was also a partner in Powell Kistler Co. and manager of Inerstate Securities.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 29, 1999 at 4 p.m. from the residence at 2100 Greenbriar Road with Rev. Donald Weisner officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Rucker Browne Vick.
He is survived bya son and daughter-in-law, Marvin Gilbert Vick Jr. and Georgia B. Vick of Rocky Mount; daughter, Linda Vick Browne of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren, David Rucker Browne of Boone, Catherine Skelton Browne of Greensboro, Deanna Ashley Vick and Marvin Grey Vick of Goldsboro; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Aunika and Ashlind Browne, all of Boone.
Memorials may be made to the Thompson Orphanage, Charlotte, N.C. or to a charity of one's choice.

LELA K. B. WARREN
STEM - Lela Katherine Bryant Warren, 83, died Monday. Funeral services 1:00 p.m. Thursday Bright Funeral Home Chapel, in Wake Forest. Burial in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham.
Surviving is her husband, Henry Warren; daughters Ruby Caudle of Oxford, Dorothy Gillette and Teresa Warren, both of Stem; son, Rex Warren of Durham; sister Vivian Horton of Bunn; brothers, Clayburn Adcock and Lucius Adcock; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, and all other times at the home of Rex Warren, 2503 Holloway St., Durham, NC.

GRAYDON L. BOATWRIGHT
NEW HILL - Graydon Lee Boatwright, age 58, of 3632 Bosco Rd., New Hill, NC, died at his home early January 27, 1999 due to an extended illness. Mr. Boatwright was born in Wilmington, NC, the son of the late Max and Mae Boatwright.He was a graduate of George Washington High School in Danville, VA and attended the University of Richmond. Mr. Boatwright was employed by Aramark Food Service for 25 years and with Kings Landscaping for six years.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 29, 1999 in the Mt. Herman Baptist Church, 2919 Olive Branch Rd. Durham Co. Officiating will be Rev. Phillip Adams, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Apex Cemetery in Apex, NC.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Mae Boatwright of the home; two sons, Ronnie Lee Beverley of Apex, NC, and Larry Lipscomb and wife Marty of Pittsboro, NC; two daughters, Debbie King and husband Ronnie of Pittsboro, NC and Gloria Plato and husband Kevin of Apex, NC; a sister, Fonda Stuart Boatwright Linkous of Danville, VA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Wake County, 4513 Creedmoore Rd., Raleigh, NC 27612.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today, Thursday, January 28, 1999 at Apex Funeral Home, 511 West Williams St. (Hwy 55) in Apex, NC and other times at his home.

EMMA BRADDY
HOBGOOD - Emma Washington Braddy, 83, of Hobgood, died Jan. 26, 1999. A funeral service will be held at the Hobgood United Methodist Church in Hobgood 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, with Rev. William Barbee officiating. Interment will follow at the Hobgood Cemetery.
Mrs. Braddy was a life-long member of the Hobgood United Methodist Church and is preceded in death by her daughter, Irma Jean Braddy Willford.
She is survived by her husband, James S. Braddy; daughters, Lillian Rose Bradshaw of Cary, Beulah Janet Vick of Ahoskie; sister, Louise DeBrule of Scotland Neck; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the Hobgood United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home of Scotland Neck.

KATIE LEE HAMILTON
SMITHFIELD - Katie Lee Hamilton, 87, died Wednesday.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. in the Centenary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Taylor and Deacon Richard Williams to officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.
A private graveside service will follow in the Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are four nieces and four nephews, Ann Eason of Smithfield, Manny Page of Jacksonville, NC, Bobby Page of San Antonio, TX, Inez Price of Raleigh, J.W. Hamilton of Winston-Salem, LaNelda Barber of Jacksonville, Fla., Sarah Ann Kimball of Fayetteville, and Jack T. Hamilton of Charlotte; 21 great-nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church or the Autism Society of North Carolina.

FUQUAY-VARINA - Ivey Craig Holloway, 89, a retired farmer, died Tuesday. Funeral 2 p.m. today at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Surviving: son, I. Craig "Sam" Holloway and wife, Charlotte of Felton, Del.; son, Donald P. Holloway and wife, Mary of Cary; daughter, Priscilla H. Turner of Danville, Va.; daughter, Judith H. Haire and husband, Kenneth of Fuquay-Varina; sisters, Willa Loy of Burlington, Helen Graham of Fuquay-Varina and Mary Nell Echerd of Kingsport, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorial contributions may be made to: the Chancel Choir Music Fund, Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church, 402 N. Main St., Fuquay-Varina.

FUQUAY-VARINA - Erica Denise Johnson, 23, passed on Monday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Funeral 1 p.m. Friday, First Baptist Church in Fuquay-Varina.
Surviving: mother, Laura Ann Johnson of Fuquay-Varina; father, James Jones of Maryland; sons, Tevin Johnson and Xaviest Johnson, both of Fuquay-Varina; sister, Carlene McNeil of Fuquay-Varina; grandfather, Professor Johnson of Fuquay-Varina.
Visitation at the church from 12 noon from 1 p.m. Friday. Burial, Starlight Memorial Gardens.

EVELYN H. KENT
MELBOURNE, FL - Mrs. Evelyn H. Kent, 87, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999. She was born in Craven County, NC on May 22, 1911. She was the daughter of the late John Bryan and Mamie Elizabeth Manson Hellen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Alfred A. Kent Jr.
She was a retired physician assistant for her husband in Granite Falls, NC. She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, Indialantic, FL. She was the former Mayor of Granite Falls, NC, past member of the Caldwell Co. Library Board, past member of the Granite Falls Recreation Board, past member of the North Carolina Medical Aux., past member of the Granite Falls Womens Club, charter member of the North Carolina Orchid Society, life member of the Brevard Orchid Society, member of the Beach Gardeners in Melbourne Beach, FL, former trustee and building committee member of St. Marks Methodist Church in Indialantic, FL, active member of the United Methodist Women at St. Marks, graduate of East Carolina Teachers College now known as East Carolina University.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, First United Methodist Church with Rev. Olin Isenhour officiating. Burial, Sunset Hills Cemetery, Granite Falls, NC.
Surviving: daughters, Annie-Hellen Thomas and Mildred Kent, both of Melbourne Beach, Evelyn-Bell Watson of Granite Falls, NC, Sarah Smith of Palm Bay, FL; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian Taylor of Vanceboro, NC, Mildred Blackwelder of Harrisburg, NC.
Visitation 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Mackie-High Funeral Home, Granite Falls, NC.

DAVID W. MANNING
MIDDLESEX - David Wayne Manning, 52, died Tuesday.
He was the owner & operator of Middlesex Grocery.
Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at Union Hope Church, With Rev. Mack Palmer officiating. Burial, Church Cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Vicki Brantley Manning; daughter, Lori M. Whitley of Spring Hope; son, Brian W. Manning of Zebulon; mother, Marie Whitley Manning of Middlesex; sister, Brenda Whitley of Spring Hope, Linda Denton of Bailey, Jeanine Finch of Middlesex; brother, Buddy Manning of Middlesex; two grandchildren.

MARY ELIZABETH OLIVER
ROCKY MOUNT - Mary Elizabeth Oliver, 66, died Tuesday, January 26, 1999 at Nash General Hospital. She was born June 23, 1932 in Edgecombe County, the daughter of the late James D. Oliver and Penny Grimes. Ms. Oliver worked as a office manager for Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Neil of Raleigh. She was a caring and loving mother and grandmother and served as the past President of the Doe's Division of the Raleigh Elks Lodge.
She is survived by a long time companion, Bill Sharpe of the home; two sons; Mark A. Deans of Raleigh, NC, and Lester Curtis and Stephanie Deans of Knightdale, NC; two brothers; J.D. Oliver of Hampton, VA, and Dan Oliver of Sharpsburg, NC; three sisters; Dora Robinson of Dortches, Vera Hutchinson of Kilmonic, VA and Laura Harris of La Plata, MD; three grandchildren; Nicole Deans, Morgan Deans, and Ashton Deans.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 29, 1999 at the Chapel of Bowling Home with Dr. John Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Bowling Funeral Home, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC.
All arrangements by Bowling Funeral Home.

HELEN MCNEIL PERRY
RALEIGH - Helen Beatrice McNeil Perry was born on December 2, 1934 in Raleigh. Her homegoing was on Wednesday, January 20, 1999 in Miami, FL. Funeral service to be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, at Praise Temple Church, 501 E. Lane St. Burial follows in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
She received her education in the Raleigh School System and lived in Washington, DC, Arlington, VA, and recently returned to Miami, FL. She was a dear wife, mother, friend, and most of all a believer in God. She attended church even though her health was not always what she wanted to be.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Lonnie M. Perry of Miami, FL; a daughter, Deborah Evan of Atlanta, GA; five sons, Morris Perry (Gracielle) of Atlanta, GA, Alfred Perry (Diana) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Carl Perry (Cheri) of Miami, FL, George Perry of Upper Marlboro, MD, Michael Perry of Miami, FL; a stepdaughter, Clarice P. Winston (Lawrence) of Holly Springs; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; mother, Mamie Starks of Raleigh; brothers, Lawrence McNeil of Raleigh, and Rufus Starks Jr. (Mary) of Raleigh; a very dear friend, Evelyn Anderson of Raleigh, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends at the church, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday; other times at 5705 Katha Drive, Holly Springs, NC 27540.
