MIDDLESEX -- Funeral services for Billy Wayne Gay, 43, of 4314 Hopkins Rd., will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Middlesex Church of God. Burial, Vick Family Cemetery, Hopkins Rd., Middlesex.
Surviving: wife, Gayle H. Gay of Middlesex; daughter, Amber Gay of the home; son, Britt Gay of the home; mother, Eleanor V. Lewis and stepfather, B.K. Lewis of Middlesex; sisters, Patsy Gay Rouse of Clinton and Phyllis Gay Lewis of Middlesex; stepbrother, Bennie K. Lewis Jr. of Middlesex.

JONNIE WALKER HETRICK
WENDELL -- Jonnie Walker Hetrick, 80, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999 at her home. She was born in Reidsville, NC and lived most of his life in the Raleigh area. Ms. Hetrick was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Hetrick in 1985.
She is survived by her son, William P. Cargill III of Cerritos, CA; daughter, Carol Cargill Hawks of Wendell, NC; and two grandsons, Charles Douglas Casteen and William Sterling Cargill.
There will be a graveside service, Friday, March 5, 1999, 3 p.m. at Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 625 New Bern Ave., Raleigh, NC 27601.
Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Raleigh.

ERNEST P. HIGH
RALEIGH -- Ernest P. High, 64, of 909 E. Lenoir St., Raleigh, NC, died February 28, 1999. Funeral 12 noon Saturday at Malaby's Cross Road Baptist Church. Burial, church cemetery.
Survivors: wife, Pecola Cain High; daughter, Sybil Berry; son, Reginald High; sisters, Shirley Jones, Lula Cofield, Alease Hunter, Bernice Faison, Christine Johnson, and Bertha Flythe; brothers, Ross High and David High; five grandchildren.
Visitation 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service.
Arrangements by Lightner Funeral Home.

HAZEL A. LITTLE
KENLY -- Hazel Askew Little, 90, of Kenly died Wednesday. Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, Coley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Kenly Cemetery.
Surviving: daughter and son-in-law; Elsie and Sonny Brantley of Nashville; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Carolyn Little of Kenly; sisters, Rebecca Ferrell and Virginia Askew both of Raleigh; Elizabeth Pittman of Fremont; brother, Ben Askew of Virginia; grandchildren, Candace Brantley of Greensboro; David Brantley, MD, of Rocky Mount; Sylvia Hines of Selma; Tim Little of Kenly; Bobby Little, Carol Smith and Freida Adams all of Fuquay.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd G. Little; daughter, Judy A. Little; and son, Robert G. Little.
Memorials may be made to Kenly Free Will Baptist Church, Hazel A. Little Memorial Fund.
Visitation 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Coley Funeral Home.

MARGARET E. MONSON
BUDD LAKE, NJ -- Margaret Ervin Monson, 82, died March 2, 1999 at Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton, NJ. Funeral service 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 1999, Richlands United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlene Pierce-Guider officiating.
Surviving: daughter, Judith Levantno of River Vale, NJ, Kathy Neice of Budd Lake, NJ, Diane Fasnacht of Richlands, NC; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to: the Humane Society of US, 2100 L. Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037.

LILLIE W. PEELE
ROCKY MOUNT -- Lillie Williams Peele, 87, formerly of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999. She was born November 9, 1911 in Wilson County, daughter of the late Charlie and Connie Joyner Williams.
Mrs. Peele was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Peele and a son, Kenneth Peele.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving: sons and daughter-in-law, Charlie C. and Peggy Peele of Garner, Autry "Jack" Peele of Tampa, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Flonnie and James Brewer of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, Hillside I with Rev. Steve Marshall officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home, Sunset Ave.

ALPHA PAULINE PRUITT
CREEDMOOR -- Alpha Pauline Pruitt, 83, a former resident of Dogwood Avenue, died Wednesday, March 3, at Brantwood Nursing Center.
A native of Mecklenburg Co., Va., the daughter of the late W. Graham and Lula Smith Pruitt.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creedmoor, and was retired as a nursing supervisor at John Umstead Hospital.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by Rev. Don Brown. Burial will be in the Creedmoor Cemetery.
Surviving include one sister, Helen P. Read of Newport News, Va.; three nieces, Betsy N. Dixon of Butner, Roberta Griffin of Newport, News, Va., and Barbara Pruitt of Petersburg, Va.
Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Creedmoor, P.O. Box 38, Creedmoor, N.C. 27522.
Visitation 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home of Marshall and Betsy Dixon, 304 West "D" Street, Butner, N.C. 27509.

JEAN REEVES QUESSENBERRY
WEST JEFFERSON, NC -- Jean Reeves Quessenberry, 89, of 211 Melody Lane, West Jefferson, NC, died at her home, Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Quessenberry was born in Ashe County on January 1, 1910 to Frank and Myrtle Reeves. She was married to H.D. Quessenberry on June 26, 1937. She was a retired school teacher having served in the Ashe, Alleghany, and Wake Counties school systems. She was a member of the West Jefferson United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and teacher.
Memorial service will be conducted at the West Jefferson United Methodist Church on Friday, March 5, 1999 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Skipper Watwood officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Cranberry Cemetery in Laurel Springs, NC.
Mrs. Quessenberry is survived by her husband, H.D. Quessenberry of the home; three daughters, Marion Hinson of Marshville, Betsy Griffin of Joplin, MO, and Barbara Derman of East Lansing, MI, one son, Frank Quessenberry of West Jefferson; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Jefferson United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 826, West Jefferson, N.C. 28694; or Hospice of Ashe at P.O. Box 421 Jefferson, NC 28640.
Badger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GRACE BOTTOMS RAGSDALE
SOUTH HILL, VA. --Mrs. Grace Bottoms Ragsdale, 91, of Rt. 2, South hill, Va., widow of Jasper Givens Ragsdale, died March 3, 1999.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and E.B. Moody of South Hill and Dorothy and Gordon DeJarnette of Garner, N.C.; five grandchildren including Shelby and Randy DeJarnette; and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ragsdale was a member of Oakland Christian Church.
Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, in the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge, Va., with burial in the Crestview Memorial Park, South Hill.
The family will receive friends at the Clarke Funeral Home, Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C.

LUCILLE E. SATTERWHITE
WARRENTON -- Lucille Elizabeth Adams Satterwhite, 77, of 528 Fairland Drive in Warrenton, died Wednesday at her residence. Mrs. Satterwhite was a Warren County native born March 17, 1921 to the late Clarence Jerman and Bertha Long Spain Adams. Mrs. Satterwhite was a homemaker and fabric shop owner.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Warrenton Baptist Church by Revs. David Brooks, Brent Kasey and Mark Clayton. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Creed Satterwhite; daughter, Carolyn S. Schoonover of Norlina; sons, Thomas E. Satterwhite of Raleigh, Stewart A. Satterwhite of Garner; sister, Mildred Adams Wilson of Norlina; brothers, Weldon Daniel "Jack" Adams of Richmond, VA, McCoy Foster "Mack" Adams of Norlina; three grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at Blaylock Funeral Home on Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Staff Builders, 1937 Hwy. 3914, Louisburg, NC.

FAITH ROGERS SLEDGE
JULY 10, 1996-March 2, 1999
WENDELL -- Faith Rogers Sledge, 2 1/2 of 29 N. Buffalo St., died Tuesday morning. A Mass of the Angels will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Saint Eugene's Catholic Church. Burial, Greenmount Cemetery.
Surviving her parents, Steven and Diana Sledge: sister, Melissa Johnson of Youngsville; brothers, Marcus Sledge of Wilson, Richard Wainwright, Joshua Sledge and Patrick Sledge all of the home; maternal grandparents, Richard and Rosemary McGuinness of Cary.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell with a prayer service at 8 p.m., other times at the home.

JANIE H. THREATT
DURHAM -- Mrs. Janie Hall Threatt, 78, of Durham Regent Retirement Community, died Tuesday afternoon in Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Threatt was a native of Pittsylvania County and attended the Pittsylvania County Schools. She moved to Durham as a young woman and attended the Watts Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Threatt retired from Erwin Mills in 1973. Her husbands, Mallie B. Clark and John B. Threatt and a brother, Eugene L. Hall, preceded her in death.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Everette Smith.
Surviving are a stepson, John Benjamin Threatt, Jr., of Irmo, SC; a brother, Clyde Hall of South Boston, VA; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys H. Moorefield of Danville, VA and Mrs. Ruby H. Osborne of Fairview, PA; a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina, P.O. Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450, or to Triangle Hospice, 1804 Martin Luther King, Jr. Pkwy, Suite 112, Durham, NC 27707.
Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
