JAMES WALTER KENNEDY
BURLINGTON -- James Walter Kennedy, 61, of 1610 Robin Hood Drive, Burlington, died at home on March 21, 1999 after an illness of 2 months. A native of Wallace, NC, he was the husband of Linda Sitterson Kennedy, and the son of Mr. Garland Kennedy and Mrs. Effie Kennedy, both deceased.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Karen) Johnson and Mrs. Jesse (Nikki) Hudson of Burlington, and Lisa Kennedy of Wake Forest; two sisters, Dorothy McDuffie and Thelma Hardison of Jacksonville, Florida; and four grandchildren.
He worked in textiles in the quality control area from 1957 through 1984. Since 1985 he has been involved in real estate and owned and operated Kennedy Appraisals.
Visitation will be held at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service on South Church Street in Burlington from 6:00 until 8:00 on Monday, March 22, 1999. Graveside services will be conducted by Dr. Eugene Davis at Golden Grove Cemetery in Kenansville at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 1999.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, P.O. Box 2122, Burlington, NC 27216.

CHARLES H. LOCKHEART
TARBORO -- Charles H. Lockhart, 79, died Sunday. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Burns, III officiating. Burial in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Mr. Lockhart was a retired extension agent in Edgecombe County while serving as extension agent he promoted 4H in the County School System. He served in the U.S. Army as Captain during WWII, and recipient of the Purple Heart. A graduate of NC State and 32 degree Mason.
Surviving: son, Charles H. Lockhart Jr. of Tarboro; grandsons, Charles H. Lockhart III of Virginia, Tyler Lockhart of the home.
The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home Monday from 7-9 p.m.

CATHERINE H. LOUGHLIN
HENDERSON -- Catherine Hight Loughlin, age 94, a native of Henderson, NC, died Saturday in Tiger, GA. She was the daughter of the late William Cristopher and Eva Langston Hight. She was the widow of the late Edward C. Loughlin.
She was a graduate of the Women's College in Greensboro, NC and did graduate work at Columbia University in New York City.
She is survived by her sons, Edward C. Loughlin, M.D., and his wife Linda Beth of Atlanta, GA, David C. Loughlin and wife Frances of Wilmington, NC; brother, Milton Langston Hight of Urbanna, VA and Henderson; sisters-in-law, Joan Williams Hight and Mary Powell Hight of Henderson; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 1999 in the Church of the Holy Innocents. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at the home of Mrs. Joan Hight, 150 Country Club Dr.
Arrangements by J. M. White Funeral Home.

DOROTHY B. MCCLURE
CLARKTON -- Dorothy Ballantine McClure of Clarkton, NC passed away Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Holmes McClure (Mr. Mac).
She was a native of Bladen County and attended East Carolina Teachers' College where she received a BS degree in home economics. Upon graduation she accepted a teaching position at Clarkton High School. She was a member of Clarkton Presbyterian Church and very involved in community affairs. Art, bridge club and gardening were her favorite hobbies.
She is survived by one son, William Holmes McClure, Jr. of Raleigh; one daughter, Jane McClure Clark of Clarkton; three grandchildren, William Bryan Clark, Kelly Ballantine Clark, and Anna Holmes McClure; son-in-law, Michael Bryan Clark and daughter-in-law, Annette Wiley McClure; sister, Jesse Gooden of Clarkton; and brother, Warren Gooden of Cary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarkton Presbyterian Church.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Clarkton Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements handled by Kinlaw Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, NC.

HELENA B. NEILL
MONTREAT -- Mrs. Helena Blue Neill, 78, resident of P.O. Box 388, Montreat, died Saturday morning in Durham County from injuries received in an auto accident. She was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Jane McNeill Blue. She was the wife of the late William Cecil Neill. Mrs. Neill was formerly employed as a Music teacher and the organist of St. James Episcopal Church in Black Mountain. She was a member of Black Mountain Presbyterian Church. She received her B.A. Degree in Music from UNC-Greensboro. She had formerly served as a Judge for the Piano Music Teacher's Guild.
Surviving are two daughters, Catherine Ray Neill of Chevy Chase, MD, and Martha Cocke Neill of Raleigh; two sons, William Lindsay Neill of Hillsborough and John Blue Neill of San Francisco, CA; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Gavin of Pinehurst, Mrs. Hilda Worth of Wilmington and Mrs. Alice Pinkston of Aberdeen; one brother, William Blue of Greenville, SC; two granddaughters, Cece Neill of Chevy Chase, MD, and Kayley Neill of Hillsborough; and one grandson, Justin Neill of Hillsborough.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in Black Mountain Presbyterian Church by Rev. Bob Ratchford.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Helena Neill Memorial Fund at Black Mountain Presbyterian Church, Black Mountain, NC. Arrangements will be made by Clements Funeral Service of Durham.

KEVIN SAVAGE OMAN
GREENSBORO -- Kevin Savage Oman, 18, of 4117 Southeast School Road, died March 21, 1999 at the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Guilford County, Kevin was a senior at Southeast High School where he was on the Varsity football team. He attended Hargrave military Academy in Chatham, Virginia his Sophmore and Junior years. Kevin also played basketball for the Alamance Presbyterian Church, which was a part of the Pleasant Garden Community Basketball Association.
Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Elizabeth McLaurin Oman of Lexington, N.C.
Surviving are his parents, Bill and Kaye Savage Oman of Greensboro; brother, William R. Oman Jr. of Raleigh; sister, Kim Oman of Greensboro; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Helen S. Savage of Suffolk, Virginia; paternal grandfather, Kermit C. Oman Sr. of Lexington
Pallbearers will be John Webster, Paul Covington, Courtland Covington, Demar Martin, Durand Martin, Eddie Simmons, James "Scooter" Simmons, and Robby Reighley.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday at the Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Street Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5601 Liberty Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27406; or to the Southeast High School Athletic Fund, 4530 Southeast School Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27406.

Z. HARDY ROSE
WILSON -- Zeno Hardy Rose, 81, died March 21, 1999.
He was born February 26, 1918 in Wake County to Z. Hardy Rose, Sr. and Allie Hadley Rose and was raised in Williamston, NC. He attended Wake Forest College and served in the Army Air Corps as a navigator in WWII. Upon returning from WWII, he enrolled in Wake Forest Law School and married Nolie Keel Highsmith of Robersonville. He graduated from the School of Law in 1948 and began practicing as an attorney with Lucas and Rand in Wilson. He remained with that firm, now known as Rose, Rand, Orcutt, Cauley, Blake and Ellis, until his retirement.
Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church. Interment, Maplewood Cemetery.
Surviving: daughters and sons-in-law, Nolie Rose and Joseph T. Jenkins of Ahoskie and Margaret Rose and Richard S. Faust of Raleigh; grandchildren, Dr. Nolie Keel Parnell, Robert Hardy Parnell, Eric Hadley Faust and William Hardy Faust; brother, H. Thomas Rose of Sun City, FL.
The family will be at 1206 W. Kenan Street.
Arrangements by Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Z. Hardy Rose Scholarship Fund, Wake Forest School of Law, Office of Development, Winston-Salem, NC 27109.

LINWOOD KIMMON STEPHENSON
WAKE FOREST -- Linwood Kimmon Stephenson, 84, of 12753 Wake Union Church Road, died Sunday at his home.
He retired from Wake Electric Membership Corporation as Director of Public Relations and Member Education, with over 30 years of service. He was a former Deacon of the Woodland Baptist Church, where he was a member, and he had served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Woodland Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving is his wife, Geneva Powell Stephenson; daughters, Donna Rollins Pace and her husband, Bob of Wake Forest, Linda Rollins Betsch and her husband, Jeff of Cumming, Ga.; a grandson, John C. Roberts and wife, Stephanie of Cumming Ga; a grandson, John C. Roberts and wife, Stephanie of Cumming, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday from Bright Funeral Home, and all other times at the home.
Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions can be made to Friends of Hospice, P.O. Box 2596 Henderson, NC 27536; or to the Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 190 Woodland Church Road, Wake Forest, N.C.

JACQUELINE Y. STEWART Born
08-19-1969 - Died 03-19-1999
RALEIGH -- Miss Jacqueline Yvette Stewart, 29, of 1114 Upchurch Street, died Friday. Funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seagraves Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, Mount Hope Cemetery.
Survivors, daughter, Latisha Yvette Stewart; mother, Annie Pearl Stewart; father, Larry Stewart, all of Raleigh; paternal grandmother, Margie Stewart; maternal grandparents, Mr. Preston Stokes and Mrs. Thelma Stokes of Raleigh; a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at 1:30-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

KELLY MARIE SUMNER
DURHAM -- Kelly Marie Sumner, infant, daughter of Andrea Marie Rourk Sumner and M. Reese Sumner Jr., of 6106 Canter Ridge Ct., died unexpectedly Friday, one day after she was born in Duke Hospital.
In addition to her parents, Kelly is survived by her big brother, 18 month old Aaron Reese; maternal grandparents, Bobbie K. and Peter I Rourk of Charlotte; paternal grandparents, Glenn G. and Mark Reese Sumner of Chapel Hill; and paternal great-grandfather, Eugene Geddings of Chapel Hill. Also surviving are numerous aunts and uncles - both those by blood and spirit.
A funeral and celebration of the Holy Eucharist will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 210 St. Mary's St., Hillsborough. The Rev. N. Brooks Graebner will officiate. Burial will be private.
Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St., in Durham (across from NC Eye & Ear Hospital).
Donations in Kelly Marie's memory may be made to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Nursery, c/o Duke Hospital, Durham, NC 27710.

EILEEN McCARTHY D. SCHREINER
RALEIGH -- Eileen McCarthy Douglas Schreiner, died Wednesday, June 2, 1999. She was born April 18, 1917 in Rochelle Park, New Jersey and has been a Raleigh resident for 25 years.
Mrs. Schreiner was preceded in death by an infant son, Howard Arthur Douglas, her husband, Howard A. Douglas in 1959 and second husband, John C. Schreiner in 1978.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Mathewson and her husband, Jim of Raleigh, Carol Douglas of Raleigh and Howard J. "Doug" Douglas and his fiance' Rita of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mrs. Schreiner is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Stephen and Cindy Lusardi of Raleigh, Lynda and David Neville of Rolesville, Michael and Belinda Lusardi of Raleigh, Eric and Amanda Douglas of Alabama, Ryan Douglas of the United States Navy, San Diego, CA, Chris and Amy Mathewson of Pittsboro, Penny and Steve Sanders of Salisbury, Jim and Melanie Mathewson of Charleston, SC, Danny and Kristy Mathewson of Efland, Wendy and Dave Marion of Hillsborough, Suzanne and Curry Tilley of Hurdle Mills; 17 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kari, Stephen, Sarah, Dianna, Logan, Matthew, Melanie, Sierra, Amanda, Zoe, Hannah, Alyssa, Zachary, Jared, Trevor and Arianna.

WILEY L. "JACK" ROBERTSON JR.
FEB. 5, 1917 - JUNE 3, 1999
RALEIGH -- Wiley LeRoy "Jack" Robertson, Jr., 82, of Raleigh and White Lake, died Thursday, June 3, 1999 at Wake Medical Center after being bitten by fire ants at his lake home on Tuesday, June 1, 1999. Born in Knightdale to the late Wiley LeRoy Robertson, Sr. and Rosa Wall Robertson, he lived in Knightdale for over 65 years. Jack was a retired building contractor, avid golfer and did missionary work in Guatemala after an earthquake in the late '70s, helping build houses there. He was a loving husband, father and known by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "PaPa" and by his nieces and nephews as "Unk". Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 1999 at Knightdale Baptist Church. Burial, New Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Marcelene Simmons Robertson; daughters, Mary Rose Spencer and her husband, Connie of Richmond, VA, Jackie Weathers of Euless, TX, Thelma Medlin of Garner, Ann Stegall and her husband, Paul of Wake Forest; stepdaughters, Linda Smith of Raleigh, Lisa Taylor and her husband, Jake of Raleigh; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Harrell and Doris Anthony, both of Knightdale, Kelley Osbeck of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Carson Robertson of Knightdale.
Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Thelma Ginn Robertson and his son, Wiley L. Robertson, III.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 1999 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home of Thelma Medlin, 2028 U.S. 70 East, Garner, NC 27529.
