CECIL JACKSON
MOUNT OLIVE -- Cecil Jackson, 81, of 228 Britt Road, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at Sampson Regional Hospital. Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday July 25, 1999, at West & Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Newton Grove; with the Rev. Neal Wingfield, and Rev. Henry Swanzey officiating.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law Dwight & Glenda Jackson of Charlotte; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Beadie Jackson of Wilmington; grandson and wife, Jeff and Tiffany Jackson, Greg Jackson; granddaughters, Amanda Jackson, Holly and Tammy Jackson; several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille Jackson and one son Arthur Jackson.
The family will greet friends from 2-3 p.m. July 25, 1999, at the funeral home prior to the service.

FRANCES F. JOHNSON
CLINTON -- Miss Frances Faison Johnson, 61, of 31 Scott Place died in Sampson Regional Medical Center Saturday July 24, 1999.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Clinton Cemetery with Rev. Hugh H. Cameron officiating.
Born in 1937 in Sampson County, Miss Johnson was the daughter of the late N.C. Supreme Court Justice Jefferson Deems Johnson Jr. She was a member of the Faison Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Duke University in 1959 and a graduate of Needham B. Broughton High School in 1955.
She is survived by her mother: Frances F. Johnson of the home. sister, Mary Lily Nuckolls of Galax, Va.;brother, Jeff D. Johnson III of the home.
The family will receive friends at the home.

MARK H. JOHNSON
FREMONT -- Mark H. Johnson, 40, owner of Mark H. Johnson Construction Co. died Friday in Oklahoma. He had lived in Newton Grove and more recently in Rocky Mount.
Funeral, Wednesday, 10 a.m., Fremont United Methodist Church. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Sondra Foy Johnson; daughters, Jennifer, Megan and Amy Johnson of New Bern; sisters, Lynn Hill of Wilson and Elizabeth Blanton of Roanoke VA.; brother, Doug Johnson of Fremont; maternal grandmother, Cora Yelverton Hooks of Fremont.
The family will be at Shackleford Funeral Service, Tuesday, 7-8:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Fremont United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 147, Fremont, N.C. 27830.

DR. DOUGLAS R. JONES
GREENVILLE -- Douglas R. Jones of 1711 Rosewood Drive, Greenville, NC, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999 in Pitt Memorial Hospital. A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 1999 in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Richard Gammon and Rev. John Stringer. Interment followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Farmville.
Dr. Jones had made his home in Greenville since 1958. He received his A.B. and M.A. degrees from East Carolina University and his doctorate from George Peabody/ Vanderbilt University. He became the first dean of the School of Education at ECU where he remained for 18 years prior to his retirement in 1986 as Professor Emeritus.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Massengill Jones; son, Douglas R. Jones, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; grandson, Douglas R. "D.J." Jones, III; sisters, Lois Tyson and Dot Bowen.
Contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 1400 S. Elm St., Greenville NC 27858.

ROBELLA CREECH NARRON
KNIGHTDALE -- Robelia Creech Narron, age 85, of 303 Salinger Street, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service, 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 1999, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, Knightdale. Burial, Raleigh Memorial Park.
Surviving: grandchildren, Crystal F. Widmer of Raleigh, Phyllis F. Carter of Middlesex, Cynthia Mason of Cary; brothers, Odell Creech of Benson, W.D. Creech of Fuquay; sister, Sarah Crocker of Kenly; four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Narron was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Wyatt Narron, 12-23-97, by a son, Wayne Narron 7-9-76 and a daughter, Brenda Fuller Mason 12-10-86.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 1999, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC.

EDGAR NORRIS
WILSON -- Edgar Norris, 89, died Friday. He had served on the Wilson City Council and as Mayor Pro-Tem. Mr. Norris was an active member of the TPA and had operated Service Grocery at Five Points for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Baltzegar Norris, and a daughter, Deloris N. Holland.
Funeral, Monday, 4 p.m., Forest Hills Baptist Church. Interment, Maplewood Cemetery.
Surviving is his wife, Dolly Nelson Strickland Norris; granddaughters, Tondra Cloer of Plano, Texas, and Patricia Chipman of Concord; grandsons, Dennis Alan Holland and Michael Holland of Tallahassee, Fla.; step-daughter, Shirley Ann Hayes of Sharpsburg; 10 great-grandchildren; step-son, Doug Strickland of Wilson, Tommy Strickland of Asheville and Selby Strickland of Vero Beach, Fla.; nine step-grandchildren; sister, Catherine Hopkins of Newport News, Va.
The family will be at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Service today, 7-8:30 p.m.

CLARICE R. PREDDY
FRANKLINTON -- Clarice Roberts Preddy, 93, of 214 West Mason St., passed away, July 23, 1999, surrounder by her loving family at Rex Hospital. She was a native of Franklin County and a member of the Franklinton United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Genadius and Nellie Parrish Roberts. She was predeceased by her husband, James Alexander Preddy.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Franklinton United Methodist Church. Burial, Fairview Cemetery.
Surviving: children, James Garland and Inez Preddy of Franklinton, G. Mac and Mattie Preddy of Raleigh, Jack and Betty Preddy of Wilmington, Cynthia and Ron O'Daniel of Raleigh; brother, Barney Roberts of Franklinton; sisters, Gladys Brown and Dena Brown, both of Franklinton; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends, Sunday 7 to 8:30 Sandling Funeral Home.

KATIE S. RIDDICK
RALEIGH -- Katie S. Riddick of 802 S. State Street, departed this life on Thursday, July 22, 1999. She was born in Creedmoor, NC.
Funeral, Monday, July 26th, 12 noon, First Baptist Church. Burial, Carolina Biblical Gardens.
Mrs. Riddick was preceded in death by; her husband, Willie C. Riddick; son, Ervin Riddick; granddaughter, Janice Thomlinson and great-grandchild, Shatona Wilder.
Survivors include; daughters, Beulah Riddick (Ernest), Nannie Thomlinson (Herbert), and Lena Sharpe (Ruby) all of Raleigh; sons, Willie Riddick, Sr. (Hannah) of Brooklyn, NY; daughters-in-law, Elnora Farrow, Corrine Riddick and Catherine Riddick; 23 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 11:30 until 12 noon. All other times at 804 S. State Street, the home of Herbert and Nannie Thomlinson.

MARJORIE W. SPENCER
WILSON -- Marjorie Winstead Spencer, 73, died July 23, 1999.
Graveside service 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. LaVon Phillips officiating.
Surviving: daughter, Teresa Tingler of Goldsboro; son, J.C. "Carroll" Spencer of Wilson; sisters, Katie W. Walsh of Wilson, Carolyn W. Davis of Wilson; brothers, Ralph Winstead of Havelock, Sidney Winstead of Cayce, SC, Thomas Winstead of Sumter, SC, Leon Winstead of Wilson and Howard Winstead of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Farmington Heights Church of God, P.O. Box 63, Wilson, NC 27894.

CLAIBORNE Y. STONE
DURHAM -- Mr. Claiborne Young (Clay) Stone, 80, of Durham, died Friday night.
For many years he was a operations supervisor with the Raleigh office of the Social Security Administration.
Graveside funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at 321 Bivins Road and from 6-8 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.

LLOYD CLINE "LC" KING
July 27, 1936 - Sept. 14, 1999
RALEIGH -- Lloyd C. King of Raleigh and Warrenton, affectionately known as LC, went home to be with his Lord, September 14, 1999, after a long courageous battle against diabetes. and congestive heart disease. Born July 27, 1936, he was the son of the late Herbert G. and Lillie C. King of Warrenton.
Mr. King was a graduate of John Graham High School in Warrenton, North Carolina and East Carolina university where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity. After East Carolina University he served his country in the United States Army from 9-8-58 to 10-31-62.
Prior to his retirement October, 1998, Mr. King was employed for 38 years with Heilig Meyers Furniture Company of Richmond, Virginia. During those 38 years he served in various capacities such as Store Manager Area Supervisor, Director of Operations and Director of Merchandising.
Mr. King was a member of the Bay Leaf Baptist Church and the Onward Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dianelle Shipley King of Raleigh; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Mike Tinsley of Richmond, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Angelique King of Raleigh; grandson, Michael Tinsley of Richmond, Virginia; granddaughters, Kathryn Tinsley of Richmond, Virginia, and Clarissa King of Raleigh; his mother-in-law, Mildred Shipley of Raleigh and constant companions Angel and Benjamin.
Mr. King is also survived by his four brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert G. King Jr. and Jeanette Whitley King of Zebulon, J. Payton King and Joyce Ayscue King of Cary, William G. King and Lois Foster King of Louisburg, Tommy W. King and Darlene Turner King of Burlington, and their respective families.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Bay Leaf Baptist Church in Raleigh.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the North Raleigh Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bay Leaf Baptist Church Onward Sunday school class or the Bay Leaf baptist Church Care Ministry, 12200 Bay Leaf Church Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27614.

WILLIAM HENRY "HANK" McCACHREN JR.
KNIGHTDALE -- William Henry "Hank" McCachren, Jr., 44, of 5112 Walton Hill Drive, Knightdale, passed away Monday, September 13, 1999, at Rex Healthcare, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, September 17, 1999 at First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, by Rev. Stacey Graves and Dr. Edwin Stock, weather permitting. Interment will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park. Should weather not permit, service arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Mr. McCachren was born April 4, 1955, in Johnson City, Tennessee, the son of William H. and Edna Earle William McCachren. He attended East Carolina University and was self-employed in construction. He was a member of Knightdale United Methodist Church, where he was active in his Sunday School Class and the Men of the Church. For many years, Mr. McCachren was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, where he served as a Deacon. He was an Eagle Scout, coached recreational soccer and basketball, was a life-long participant in football, basketball, and tennis,and had an avid love for hiking, camping, the beach, and the mountains. He was greatly respected and loved, and will be missed by all those with whom he came in contact.
Surviving are: sons, James Patrick McCachren and William Thomas McCachren, both of Knightdale; daughter, Elisabeth Ashley McCachren of Knightdale; parents, William Henry and Edna Earle McCachren of Raleigh; brother, Jonathan Marcus McCachren of Boone; one aunt; five uncles; numerous cousins.
