HAZEL L. WILY
AIKEN, SC -- Mrs. Hazel L. Wiley, 89, of Aiken, SC, widow of Mr. J. Fleming Wily, Jr. and a former resident of Durham, died Thursday morning in Aiken.
Mrs. Wily was born in Ocala, FL, the daughter of John Henry and Ella Jackson Livingston. She moved from Durham to Aiken in October of 1998. Mrs. Wily was a member of the Up to Date Club, the Junior League of Durham and Orange County, Hope Valley Garden Club, Hope Valley Country Club and a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Westminster Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Haywood Holderness. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Mrs. Wily is survived by her three children and their spouses, John F., III, and Martha Wily of Durham, Link and Kinsey Wily of Aiken, and Margaret W. and Pat Noisworthy of Aiken; three grandchildren, J. Thomas Wily and Marcie Wily, son and daughter of John and Martha, and Fleming Wily, son of Link Wily.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6-8 p.m. at Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home and other times at the home of John and Martha Wily, 175 Montrose Drive, Durham, NC 27707.
Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3639 Old Chapel Hill Road, Durham, NC 27707 or to the charities of one's choice.

RANDY C. "TREE" HALEY
RALEIGH -- Randall Charles Haley, 58, of 5224 Round Hill Lane, died Monday at Rex Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Al Haley.
Memorial service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Montlawn Funeral Home chapel.
Visitation for friends and relatives one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Surviving: wife, Janice Haley; mother, Edna Haley of Raleigh; daughter, Michele Coats of Raleigh; sons, Steve Jones and Kenneth Jones, both of Raleigh; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Marcia Sullivan of New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Hospice of Wake Co. 1300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC 27605 or the American Cancer Society, 11 S. Boylan Ave., Raleigh, NC 27603.

JOHNSIE F. HICKS
RALEIGH -- Johnsie Lee Flagg Hicks of 2510 Bedford Avenue died on Thursday, April 1, 1999. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, April 6, 1999 at Wilson Temple United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Interment takes place at Carolina Biblical Gardens.
She is survived by: brothers, James F. Flagg and George W. Flagg Sr., both of Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Eleanor H. Flagg and Minnie G. Flagg, both of Raleigh; special nieces, Gail F. Ashwood of Cary, N.C. and Eula F. Williams of Apex; other nieces nephews, many relatives and friends.

GEORGE CLAUDE MARETT
RALEIGH -- George Claude Marett, 74, died Saturday, April 3, 1999. Born April 22, 1924 in Anderson Co., SC, Mr. Marett was a long time resident of Raleigh. He was a member of Faith Alliance Church in Garner and was a veteran of WWII. He was employed by the Seaboard Coastline Railroad for 25 years.
Mr. Marett is survived by his wife of 55 years, Una Smith Marett of Raleigh; son, Earl and wife Etta Marett of Smithfield; daughters, Linda Chappell of Fuquay-Varina, Glenda and husband Thomas Jeffries of Raleigh; brother, Douglas Marett of Anderson, SC; sister, Helen Sands of Walhalla, SC; grandchildren, Michelle and husband Craig Adcock, Alison Chappell, Geoff, Scott, and Erin Marett, Lee and Rebecca Jeffries.
Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 1999 in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Saint Mary's Street and will be officiated by Rev. Aaron Erikson and Rev. Bill Jeffries. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Faith Alliance Church Building Fund, 403 W. Garner Road, Garner, NC 27529.

LATHAN "BRO" MYATT
CLAYTON -- Lathan Myatt, 60, died Friday, April 2, 1999 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Memorial service will be 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at Springfield Baptist Church, 4309 Auburn-Knightdale Rd., Raleigh Rev. Daniel Sanders Pastor will officiate.
Lathan was the son of Robert Myatt, Sr. and Mamie Myatt Yancey. Lathan graduated from Garner Consolidated School and also attended NCCU, he was also a member of Springfield Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memories five loving daughters, Denise Myatt Dunn, Cassandra Myatt Glover, Harriett M. Myatt, all of Raleigh, Renee Myatt of Clayton, Brandeis S. Benekin of Charleston, SC; sister, Lula Mae Seawell of Garner; brother, Alexander Yancey of Virginia; four sisters-in-law, Dora Myatt and Bernice Myatt, both of Raleigh, Constance Yancey and Maude Yancey, both of Virginia; one brother-in-law, Billy Charles "B.C." Rand of Garner; four grandchildren, Antonio and Lakeisha Dunn, Erica Glover and Desmond Lathan Glover; a host of other relatives and friends.
Family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Johnston County, Cancer Society, 420 W. Morgan St., Raleigh, NC 27604.

CARMIE "TOM" ADAMS
CLAYTON -- Carmie "Tom" Green Adams, 79, died Sunday. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday in McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Rev. Billy Johnson, Rev. Danny Robertson and Rev. Eddie Franks officiating.
Mr. Adams was a self-employed electrical contractor.
He is survived by: wife, Magdalene J. Adams of Clayton; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. and Frank Chirico of Jack, AL, Delores A. and John Davis of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Margaret McCabe of Garner; brother, Joseph Adams of Clayton; grandchildren, F. Michael and Jacque Chirico of Brundidge, AL, Francene C. and Sal Frenda of Enterprise, AL, Elizabeth Davis of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Patrizia, Cal, Hunter and Kori.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

LAUREN LESTER BALL
CARY -- Lauren Lester Ball, 71 of Cary died Sunday, April 4, 1999 after a prolonged illness.
Mr. Ball was born on April 30, 1927 in Palisade, CO. He was a retired laboratory supervisor for CP&L.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Piney Plain United Church of Christ, Cary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ball is survived by his loving wife, Delaine Slater Ball; son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Saundra Ball of Parsons, TN; son and daughter-in-law, William and Libby Ball of Forth Worth, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Rick Oliver of Raleigh. Also are his beloved grandchildren, Gordon, Blake, Gaylon, Victoria, Lauren and Kimberly.
Mr. Bell is also survived by sisters Arlene Sanders of Tulsa, OK and Anita Spinnie of Grand Junction, CO.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.

W. JENNINGS BUNCH
TYNER -- William Jennings Bunch, 87, of the 800 block of Dillard's Mill Road, died Sunday, April 4, 1999.
Among the survivors is a son, Carlton Fahey Bunch, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC and now of Tyner.
Funeral, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Ballard's Bridge Church, Hwy. 32, Tyner, NC 27980.

HADIE DAVIS
GOLDSBORO -- Mr. Hadie Davis, 92, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late John M. Davis and Ella Hill Davis and the widower of Irene Peele Davis. He was a retired farmer and a member of Fort Run P.F.W.B. Church.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willard Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Jo Fail of Goldsboro and Hester Corbett of Fuquay-Varina; three brothers, Earl Davis, Carl Davis and Senas Davis, all of Goldsboro; two sisters, Eula Peele and Dorothy Herring of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Dwight Corbett of Colorado Springs, CO, Jerry Corbett of Acworth, GA, Trish Gillikin of Goldsboro and Pam Wyatt of Goldsboro; and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the home of his daughter, Jo Fail, 2504 E. Ash St., Goldsboro.

MARY RACHEL S. EDMUNDSON
PIKEVILLE -- Mary Rachel Smith Edmundson, 83, died Monday. She was the widow of Add Edmundson. Funeral, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Shackleford Funeral Chapel, Fremont. Interment, Eureka Cemetery.
Surviving is a daughter, Faye Westbrook of the home; son and his wife, Jimmie L. and Donna F. Edmundson of Goldsboro; loving grandmother to Todd Westbrook, Allyson Edmundson and Kimberly Shelton; sisters, Joyce West of Goldsboro, Pauline Lee of Black Creek.
The family will be at the funeral home, today 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at 1707 E. Walnut Street, Goldsboro.
Memorials are suggested to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, P.O. Box 88, Goldsboro, NC 27533.

JOHN DIXON FLEMING SR.
SMITHFIELD -- John Dixon Fleming Sr., 72, died April 4, after a brief illness.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial will follow immediately in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.
Mr. Fleming was born in Elm City on November 7, 1926. He graduated from Greenville High School and the University of North Carolina, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He was an entrepreneur that owned and operated several businesses through the years, including the Howard Johnson Lodge and Restaurant and Carolina Pottery in Smithfield. He was recognized in 1988 as the Smithfield-Selma Citizen of the Year for his contributions as a civic leader and philanthropist. He was an avid sportsman and a member and supporter of numerous wildlife organizations. Mr. Fleming was a Life Member of the Smithfield-Selma Chamber of Commerce and served his church in many capacities. He was a Mason, a World War II Navy veteran and an Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Griffin Fleming; son, John Dixon Fleming Jr. and his wife, Gaither of Smithfield; daughters, Ann Fleming Marsh and her husband, Tim of Clover, S.C., Jean Fleming Harris and her husband, Perry of Smithfield; son, Miles Glenn Fleming and his wife, Kathryn of Smithfield; sister, Rachel F. Edwards of Greenville; brother, Dr. Robert H. Fleming of Raleigh; grandchildren, Sarah Gaither Fleming, John Dixon Fleming III, Elizabeth Burton Fleming, Fleming Marsh Wallace and her husband, Rob, Timothy Grady Marsh Jr., Ann McCullough Marsh, Charles Griffin Marsh, Margarette Perry Harris, Alice Dixon Harris, Kathryn Grace Fleming and Miles Glenn Fleming Jr.
The family will receive friends at his son's home, 521 Rosewood Drive, Smithfield, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6.

FRANCIS "BUD" GATTIS
FUQUAY-VARINA -- Francis Edward "Bud" Gattis, 55, died Friday, April 2, 1999. Graveside funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh.
Surviving: wife, Patricia G. Gattis; daughter, Susan M. Gattis and husband, Carl E. Watkins, Jr. of Raleigh; granddaughter, Meghann S. Ennis of Raleigh; sister, Claudia G. Martin and husband, Alfred, of Hagerstown, Maryland; niece, Kelli Martin and nephew, Jeffrey Martin of Hagerstown, Maryland; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Godbout of Falls Church, Virginia; many other loving family members.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 1999 at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N. Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina and other times at the Gattis home, 2613 Knightwood Road, Fuquay-Varina.

MRS. MARY JORDAN HAWN
BENSON -- Mrs. Mary Jordan Hawn age 81 of 4690-B NC Hwy 50 South died Monday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. A visitation will follow the memorial service.
Mrs. Hawn was born February 10, 1918 in Beaufort County to the late Leon Parson and Millie Lee Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hawn, and daughter, Carole Hawn Nowell. Mrs. Hawn retired in 1964 after 20 years of service with the NC Department of Labor. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving include son-in-law, David Allen Nowell of Benson; grandchildren, Norman Peede, Millicent Peede Montgomery, Anjanette Nowell McLamb, and Sarah Anna Nowell Reaves; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Blane Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers family suggests memorials to be made to the Benson PFWB Church, c/o Rachel Denning, P.O. Box 422, Benson, NC 27504 or the American Cancer Society.
