SPRING LAKE -- Mrs. Ila Thomas Wagner Rambeaut, 93, of 131 Marion Lane, a homemaker, died Friday, August 13, 1999.
She was the widow of Roni O. Rambeaut and the daughter of the late Charlie J. Wagner and Beatie Addie Wagner.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 16, 1999, at Adcock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Dorman officiating. Burial, Kennebec Cemetery, Wake County.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Adcock Funeral Home.
Surviving: daughters, Alease West of Lillington, Elsie Kitchens of Sanford and Mary Lou Rhodes of Fuquay-Varina; sons, Milton T. Rambeaut of Spring Lake, Marvin Johnson and Arvin Johnson, both of Linden; sister, Macie McLean of Fuquay-Varina; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren.

JOSEPH LEON SARGENT, JR.
Joseph Leon Sargent, Jr., 62, died August 14, 1999. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at North Raleigh Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh.

MICHAEL JOSEPH SHAIL
RALEIGH -- Michael Joseph Shail, 54, of 11104 Coachmans Way, died Thursday.
He was a programming manager with IBM.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Saint Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Jacquelyn D. Shail; sons, Todd Shail of Roanoke, VA, Scott Shail of Brookeville, MD and Timothy Shail of Raleigh; daughter, Cynthia Rains of Durham; one grandchild, Alexis Shail.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 27624, Raleigh, NC 27611.

ROBERT HAYES HANLEY
RALEIGH -- Robert Hayes Hanley, 81, of 1416 Springmoor Circle died Sunday, September 12, 1999 at the Stewart Health Center in Raleigh. He was born on January 18, 1918 in Hopedale, MA, son of the late John A. Hanley and Mary Hayes Hanley.
Mr. Hanley was a graduate of Wilbraham Academy and the University of Massachusetts. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy with the rank of Lt. Commander.
He was a principal of J.J. Fallon Company for over 40 years, serving as president from 1960 until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Hanley was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh and the Carolina Country Club. He was a volunteer at Rex Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Fallon Hanley of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Rosalie Hanley Blowe and Royce C. Blowe of Greensboro; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. R. Hayes Hanley, Jr. and Karen H. Hanley of Richmond, VA, J. Fallon Hanley and Ann S. Hanley of Raleigh, and son, the Reverend John A. Hanley of Washington, DC; and four grandchildren, Corey Hanley of Norfolk, VA, R. Wells Hanley of New York City, Collin Hanley of Raleigh, and Fallon Hanley, Jr. of Boulder, CO.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Hanley and George Hanley.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 15, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Oxford Rd. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 14, 1999 at 7 p.m. in the Activity Room of South Village at Springmoor.
Flowers are welcome and memorials may be made to the American Diabetes. Association, 434 Fayetteville Street Mall, Two Hannover Square, Suite 1600, Raleigh, NC 27601 and Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

WILLIAM HENRY "HANK" McCACHREN JR.
KNIGHTDALE -- William Henry "Hank" McCachren, Jr., 44, of 5112 Walton Hill Drive, Knightdale, passed away Monday, September 14, 1999, at Rex Healthcare, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 1999 at First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, by Rev. Stacey Graves and Dr. Edwin Stock. Interment will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
Mr. McCachren was born April 4, 1955, in Johnson City, Tennessee, the son of William H. and Edna Earle William McCachren. He attended East Carolina University and was self-employed in construction. He was a member of Knightdale United Methodist Church, where he was active in his Sunday School Class and the Men of the Church. For many years, Mr. McCachren was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, where he served as a Deacon. He was an Eagle Scout, coached recreational soccer and basketball, was a life-long participant in football, basketball, and tennis, and had an avid love for hiking, camping, the beach, and the mountains. He was greatly respected and loved, and will be missed by all those with whom he came in contact.
Surviving are: sons, James Patrick McCachren and William Thomas McCachren, both of Knightdale; daughter, Elisabeth Ashley McCachren of Knightdale; parents, William Henry and Edna Earle McCachren of Raleigh; brother, Jonathan Marcus McCachren of Boone; one aunt; five uncles; numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 1999 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh.

LINWOOD R. BUNCH
MERRY HILL -- Linwood R. Bunch, 79, of 346 Old Merry Hill Road, died September 13, 1999 after a short and heroic battle with cancer. He was born in Chowan County and was a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 1999 at Merry Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph Knight. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor.
A loving and dedicated husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Mae Mitchell Bunch; two daughters, Becky B. Lindsay of Elizabeth City, Ann B. Ward and her husband Dan of Hobbsville; one son, Bobby Bunch and his wife Joan of Chesapeake, VA; a daughter-in-law, Imogene W. Bunch of Hampton, VA; two brothers, Edward Bunch and his wife Florence of Windsor, and Frank Bunch and his wife Millie of Merry Hill. He has six grandchildren, Amy Carter and husband Allen, Ryan Bunch and wife Sarah, Kelly Zagursky and husband Keith, Freddie Bunch, Kevin Bunch, Jonathan Ward and one great-grandchild, Katie Zagursky. Mr. Bunch was predeceased by a son, Rev. Freddie C. Bunch and two sisters, Essie Bunch and Pearl B. Hughes.
The family will receive friends at 346 Old Merry Hill Road. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the American Red Cross or to Merry Hill Baptist Church. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge of arrangements.

BETTIE J. GLENN
RALEIGH -- Bettie J. Glenn, of 911 S. Bloodworth Street, died Sunday. Funeral service 12 noon Thursday at St. Hope Baptist Church, Spring Hope. Burial, Carolina Biblical Gardens.
Surviving: son, Joseph F. Hunter and his wife, Monique Hunter of Goldsboro; sisters, Mary Johnson of Thailand, Corena Evans, Loretta Richardson, Doris Dobbin, Marie Johnson and Mozelle Curtis, all of Raleigh; brothers, Chester Harris of Raleigh; grandson, Jonathan Hunter of Goldsboro; a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation 11:30-12 p.m. at the church.

CHARLOTTE EVALYN GENTRY HOOD
KINSTON -- Charlotte Evalyn Gentry Hood of 809 LaRoque Avenue, Kinston, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999. She was born in Atlanta, GA to Joseph Jackson Gentry and Lillis Behenna Gentry. A member of Westminster United Methodist Church since its founding, where she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher. She was a Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow and CFO of J.E. Hood and Company and Hood Pharmacy. Mrs. Hood studied Art at East Carolina University and has served as President/Chair of the United Methodist Women of Westminster, the Kinston Junior Woman's Club, Kinston Woman's Club, Kinston Arts Council (Community Council for the Arts), Lenoir County Historical Association, Council of Garden Clubs, Friends of the Lenoir County Library and the Art Study Club. An avid patron of the arts she co-founded the Lucy Sanders Hood Art Award and the Lillis B. Gentry Art Award at Kinston High School. Preceded in death by her daughter Lyn (age five) in 1950; she is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years, John Cogdell Hood, Jr. and their children John Cogdell Hood, III of Wilson, NC and Ann Shields Hood of Raleigh, NC as well as her two sisters; Katherine Shields Prins of Needham, MA and Lelia Josephine Gaylor of Escondido, CA. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. A memorial service conducted by Reverend H. Langill Watson and Reverend Haywood C. Smith will be held at Westminster United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999. Immediately after the service the family will receive friends in the church. NANCY BECK JOHNSON
CHARLOTTE -- Nancy Beck Johnson, 64, of 661 Hempstead Place, Charlotte, NC died September 13, 1999 at Carolinas Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 1999 at Myers Park Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Raymond D. Scott officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Westover Cemetery, Augusta, GA. The family will receive friends at the home, 661 Hempstead Place from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Lexington, NC on January 1, 1935 to Donald Beck and the late Mildred Beck. She graduated from Wake Forest University in 1956 and throughout her life has had strong ties to Wake Forest. She met her husband at Wake Forest and each of her three children were graduates of the school. While living in Augusta, she and her husband hosted the Wake Forest Masters Party from 1974 until their move to Charlotte in 1980.
She lived in Augusta for nineteen years where she was active in Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Junior League. She was a member of Wood Valley Garden Club and the "Bridge Club."
In Charlotte, she became a strong volunteer and President of Winghaven Society. She was associated with Crescent Collection and a member of the Merry Mints Garden Club. Aside from her family and church, her special interests were a love for gardening and antiques.
Mrs. Johnson was a devoted, unselfish, and loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, James E. Johnson, Jr. They have three children, Anne Johnson Bolt, of Little River, SC, Jane Johnston White of Winston Salem, NC and James E. Johnson, III of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by her father, Donald Beck, and by her sister, Anne Bevan, both of Lexington, NC.
Pallbearers will be John M. Belk, Cliff C. Cameron, Stuart Dickson, Beverly F. Dolan, Cameron M. Harris, John W. Harris, Torrence E. Hemby, Louis L. Rose, and Edward I. Weisinger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nancy Johnson Fund at Wake Forest University, P.O. Box 7227, Reynolda Station, Winston Salem, NC 27109 or to Carolinas HealthCare Foundation for Research in Pulmonary Medicine, P.O. Box 3286, Charlotte, NC 28232.

LILLIAN LARRAINE LaMARSH
RALEIGH -- Lillian Larraine LaMarsh, 66, of 1629 Wedgeland Dr., died Monday, September 13, 1999. Mrs. LaMarsh was born in Astoria, NY to the late Charles and Honora Doyle Landusky. Her husband John LaMarsh preceded her in death.
A memorial mass will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday in the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Father Dan Kenna.
Mrs. LaMarsh was the beloved mother of three daughters, Debbie Scarpinito, Kim and Jonelle, all of Raleigh; two sons, Michael of Franklin Square, NY and Scott of Bellerose, NY. Additional survivors include her sister, Renee Cortese of Nanuet, NY; four granddaughters, Lillian, Jennifer, Melissa, and Annmarie; grandson, Allie, great-grandson, Andrew Tyler and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to a charity of one's choice.

JOHN G. LASSITER
FOUR OAKS -- Mr. John Garnett Lassiter, 73, of 955 Lassiter Road, Four Oaks, died Tuesday at his residence. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge in Smithfield and Johnston County Shrine Club. Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m., weather permitting, at the First Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Smithfield.
Surviving: daughters, Gail Lassiter Blackmon of Wilmington, Janet Lassiter West of Four Oaks, Joan Lassiter McLamb of Benson; sister, Doris Burgess of Smithfield; grandchildren, Dean Blackmon, Natalie Blackmon, Micheal Blackmon, Lindsey Blackmon, Elaina McLamb and Daniel McLamb; step-grandchild, Karen Blackmon Jones.
Family will be at Minshew Funeral Home on Wednesday, 7-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 717, Four Oaks, N.C. 27524.

HAL A. "JACK" McCULLERS JR.
COLUMBIA, SC -- Hal A. "Jack" McCullers, Jr., 75, an insurance man in Columbia, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999. A private family burial service will be in Raleigh, NC.

JOHN E. (JACK) PARKER JR.
RALEIGH -- John E. "Jack" Parker Jr., 51, of Raleigh, died Monday, September 13, 1999.
Jack was a V.P. of Corporate & Financial Information Services (CFIS) for 28 years at Glaxo Wellcome.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Diane B. Parker; son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Mary Beth Parker III of Hope Mills; father, John E. Parker Sr. of Trenton; sisters, Elaine P. Saleeby of Hope Mills and Susan P. Camaret of Trenton; great-aunts, Mrs. Josephine Bender of Pollocksville, Mrs. Gertrude Newsome of Cape Carteret; nieces, Lisa Powell of Hope Mills, Danielle Camaret of Winston-Salem, Dana and Lori Roberts of Villa Rica, Ga., Alessandra Brown of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
A memorial service for Mr. Parker will be held Friday, September 17, at 2 p.m. at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church with Reverend Camille Yorkey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society, 11 S. Boylan Avenue, Raleigh, N.C. 27603 or Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, 7506 Fall of Neuse Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27615.
