C.R. Lamprecht
Christine Rosemond Lamprecht of Greenville died Feb. 18, 2006.
She was 81.
A native of Chapel Hill, she lived in Greenville the last 10 years.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 25 at Christ Presbyterian Church in Winterville.
Interment will follow at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Hillsborough.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Greenville.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Sechler of Crofton, Md., and Marianne Voorbrood of Hattiesburg, Miss.; a son, Tom Lamprecht of Greenville; two brothers, Albert Montgomery Rosemond of Chapel Hill and John Rosemond of Roanoke, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
James E. Millett
James Ellsworth Millett of Chapel Hill died unexpectedly Feb. 17, 2006 in Chapel Hill.
A native of Waterville, Maine, he graduated from Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield, Mass., and attended Rossol College in Blackpool, England for a year.
He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont and a law degree from the University of Maine School of Law in 1976.
He was assistant district attorney for Kennebec County, the Waterville City solicitor and partnered in two firms before moving to Scarborough in 1985.
He remained in private practice until he moved to Chapel Hill in 1997 when he was employed by Research Triangle Institute and the Best Western University Inn.
Memorial services will be held Feb. 24 in Portland, Maine.
Survivors include his wife, Darline Joy Cloudman; children Kate Rojas of Atlanta, Ga., Corey James Millett of Chapel Hill, Morgan Millett of Greensboro; and a sister, Jane Dornish of Winslow, Maine.

John P. Filley
John P. Filley of The Villages in Florida, died Feb. 16, 2006.
He was 83.
Born in New Haven, Conn., he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He received a medical degree from Yale University.
His residency was in child psychiatry at the UNC School of Medicine.
For 16 years, he was on the faculty of the UNC School of Public Health.
After leaving UNC, he held public sector administrative roles in Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Upon retirement, he and his wife, Karen, traveled the country for 10 years.
An avid birder, he recorded 494 North American species in his lifetime.
In 1997 he and Karen settled in Florida.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be at The Villages on March 4.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Filley; a son, Bruce of Yarra Junction, Australia; three daughters, Brenda Currin of Oxford, Susan Filley Worthy of Chapel Hill and Joanne Filley of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Amy Stanton of Brandon, Fla.; a foster daughter, June Wemlinger of Thayer, Mo.; a brother, Walter Filley of Manchester Village, Vt.; a sister, Isabel Rostykus of Bellevue, Wash.; a former wife, Lois Filley of Chapel Hill; and five grandchildren..

Lois M. Allen
Lois M. Allen of Chapel Hill died Aug. 11, 2004 at her home.
She was 78.
She was born in Mount Zion, Ky., and attended the University of Kentucky.
A funeral service will be conducted Aug. 25 in Dry Ridge, Ky.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Jansen of Chapel Hill.
Arrangements are by Capital Funeral Home of Raleigh.
Elizabeth Austin
Elizabeth Beall Geer Austin of Chapel Hill died Aug. 13, 2004 at Carolina House of Chapel Hill.
She was 93.
She grew up in Greenville, S.C., and graduated from Converse College in 1931.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Church of the Holy Family in Chapel Hill by the Rev. Timothy Kimbrough and the Rev. Daniel Hall.
Survivors include her children, Sallie Raleigh of Darien, Conn., English Austin of Durham, James E. Austin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Elizabeth Kaplan of Chapel Hill and Charles Austin of Washington Heights, N.Y.; a sister, Martha Geer Perry; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Milton S. Carothers
The Rev. Milton Stover Carothers of Tallahassee, Fla., died Aug. 13, 2004.
He was 72.
He was a university minister at UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University before becoming the Presbyterian campus minister at Florida State University.
He received a master's of divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia and held pastorates in Salisbury and in Covington, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 5 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee.
A private family burial will follow.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Carothers; four children, Milton Washington Carothers of South Carolina, Sarah Jane Carothers of North Carolina, James Higgenbotham and Lea Carothers Crusberg; a sister, Helen Edwards; and a brother, Graham Carothers.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Milton S. Carothers Ethical Award at Florida State, the Presbyterian University Center at Florida State or to Big Bend Hospice.
Robert D. Crassweller
Robert D. Crassweller of Chapel Hill died July 18, 2004 of natural causes.
He was 88.
He was born and raised in Minnesota and graduated from Harvard Law School.
He was the author of scholarly works on Latin America, and wrote books about Rafael Trujillo, Juan Peron and U.S. foreign policy in the Caribbean.
He also wrote articles for such publications as Foreign Affairs Quarterly and The New York Times book section.
He worked for the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., practiced private law and participated in a mining venture in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
He was a visiting professor at Sarah Lawrence College and at Brooklyn University.
Later in his career he worked for ITT and was general legal counsel for ITT Latin America.
He retired to Chapel Hill in 1987.
Survivors include a son, Peter Clarke Crassweller of Chapel Hill; two daughters, Karen Doell Crassweller of Arlington, Va., and Pamela Ann Baldino of Chapel Hill; and three grandchildren.
Leslie M. Hale III
Leslie Morgan Hale III died Aug. 13, 2004 in Austin, Texas, as the result of a traffic accident.
He was 32.
He was a former resident of Chapel Hill.
He attended Durham Academy, Chapel Hill High School and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina.
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in University Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his parents, L. Morgan Hale Jr. and Anne Kaye Calhoun Hale of Chapel Hill; two brothers, Robert Andrew Hale and Patrick Calhoun Hale, both of Charlotte; and his fiancee, Teresa Davis of Austin, Texas.

Robert Moore
Robert Moore of Chapel Hill died Aug. 17, 2004 at the Pittsboro Christian Home in Pittsboro.
He was 78.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Memorial Chapel of the University Baptist Church on South Columbia Street.
Survivors include a sister, Patricia Klassan of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
Adell I. Alford
Adell Iris Alford of Chapel Hill died July 28, 2004 at Britthaven of Chapel Hill after a lengthy illness.
She was 86.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bells Baptist Church of Apex.
A memorial service will be conducted later at Bells Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Alford of the home; a brother, Robert Hunt of Apex; and two sisters, Alene Powell of Long Beach, Calif., and Eunice Boggs of Chapel Hill.

Rebecca J. Baker
Rebecca James Baker of Durham died suddenly at home Aug. 8, 2004 due to a pregnancy-related heart condition.
She was 33.
She grew up in Riverton and Moorestown, N.J., and graduated from Brown University in 1993.
She received a master's degree from the Harvard School of Public Health and a doctorate from the UNC School of Public Health.
She was a senior epidemiologist at GlaxoSmithKline.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Walker's Funeral Home, 120 W. Franklin St.
Internment services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey Baker; parents, Mary Ellen and Jonathan James; grandmother, Rose Quinto; and brothers Christopher and Nathan James.

M. Keith Rosemond
M. Keith Rosemond of Hillsborough died at home following a year of illness due to a brain tumor.
He was 54.
He was a graduate of Orange High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He retired from the Orange County Planning Department in December 2003 after 25 years of service.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church parish house, 210 St. Mary's Road, Hillsborough.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hodges Rosemond; a daughter, E. Katelyn Rosemond, and a son, Charles H. Rosemond, both of the home; his mother, Bettie Sue Lloyd Rosemond of Hillsborough; three brothers, Steve Rosemond and Joe Rosemond, both of Hillsborough, and Neil Rosemond of Durham; and a sister, Julie Rosemond Wilson of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Kacey L. Suitt
Kacey Latrice Suitt of Chapel Hill died Aug. 7, 2004 following a single-car traffic accident on Dairyland Road in Orange County.
She was 18.
She graduated from Chapel Hill High in June and was planning to attend Winston-Salem State University.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Bible Church, 260 Erwin Road, Chapel Hill, by the Rev. Clifton Ingram.
Survivors include her father, Russell Lee Suitt and step-mother Amy Garner Suitt of the home; six brothers, Lee, James, Robert, Dwayne, Russell and Nick; three sisters, Mattie, Ebony and Sherina, all of the home; her paternal grandfather, Harvey Suitt of Chapel Hill; and step-grandparents the Rev. Alvin Garner and Omelia Garner of Chapel Hill.
