Ms. Angie Glisson age 81 of West Jefferson died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.
Memorial services were held on Monday, August 22, 2005 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kirk McNeill.
The family received friends from 10-11am on Monday, August 22, 2005at Boone Family Funeral Home and again after the memorial service at her home.
Ms. Glisson was born in Hawkinsville, GA on Sunday, April 2, 1924 to the late Charles Stedman Glisson, Sr. and the late Lillian Anderson Glisson. She taught school in Asheboro, Greensboro and coached the girl’s basketball team until she retired and moved to Ashe County. While in Ashe County she volunteered at Ashe Memorial Hospital which she dearly loved and worked until the day she died.
Ms. Glisson is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation: 200 Hospital Ave., Jefferson, NC 28640.

Gladys Thelma Marsh

Gladys Thelma Marsh Shepherd, age 86, of Sparta, formerly of Laurel Springs, died Thursday night, August 18, 2005 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Transou United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family receivedfriends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Saturday, August 20 at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shepherd was born in Ashe County on Sunday, December 1, 1918 to the late Abner Marsh and to the late Jane Woodruff. She was a Homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Sidney Shepherd.
She is survived by two sons, Johnny Shepherd, of Sparta and Harold Shepherd, of North Wilkesboro; a brother, Ballard Marsh, of West Jefferson; two grandchildren, Sherry Rose and David Shepherd; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Edward Charles Pruitt, better known as “Eddie”, age 45, of West Jefferson, died Thursday morning, August 18, 2005 at Wilkes Regional Hospital.
Funeral services wereheld on Saturday at 8:00 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Osborne and Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Saturday, two hours prior to the funeral service.
Mr. Pruitt was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, August 3, 1960 to the late James Billy Pruitt and to Shirley Osborne Pruitt. He worked as a Painter.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Billy Pruitt on April 7, 2001.
He is survived by a son, Billy Pruitt, of Albemarle, NC; his mother, Shirley Osborne Pruitt, of West Jefferson; a sister, Diane Brooks and husband, David, of Lansing; Life Partner, Connie Stuart, of Lansing; three nieces, Nichole Brooks, Savannah Brooks and Paige Brooks, all of Lansing.

Margaret Sexton Graybeal

Margaret Sexton Graybeal, age 88, of Mouth of Wilson, Va., the Grassy Creek community, passed away October 18, 2005 at the home of Rick and Gena Ellison. She was born November 18, 1916 in Welch, West Virginia to Howard Roscoe and Novella Mallory Sexton.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Paul T. Graybeal, a brother, Charles Sexton and a sister, Helen S. Sampson.
She was a wonderful homemaker and had worked for 30 years at Grayson Garment in Independence. Margaret was a faithful member of the Grassy Creek Church for 75 years.
Surviving are two sons and spouses, Robert L. and Emily Graybeal of Riverview, Fla. and William P. and Carol Graybeal of Meadowview, Va.; one granddaughter and spouse, Dawn and Tomas Williams of Canton, Ga.; two great grandchildren, Ethan and Erin Williams of Canton, Ga.; two sisters, Betty Roland of West Jefferson, NC and Nancy Murrell and spouse, Charlie of Redding, Calif.; two brothers and spouses, Howard and Anne Sexton of Winston-Salem, NC and Douglas and Mary Sexton of Johnson City, NC and several nieces and nephews.
The family is eternally grateful to Rick and Gena Ellison for the care, love and compassion goven to Margaret for the past two and one half years.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 3 p.m. in the Grassy Creek United Methodist Church at Grassy Creek, NC. Rev. Charles McKinney officiated. Interment followed at the Grassy Creek cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers were Scott Hart, Robert VanHoy, Sanford Fishel, Dale Folwell, Kevin Roland, Morris Roland, Rick Ellison and Thomas Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Kyle R.Graybeal, Larry Graybeal, Lloyd Halsey, Rex Halsey and David VanHoy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were made to the Grassy Creek United Methodist Church, c/o Betty Spencer, treasurer, 1854 Grassy Creek Road, Mouth of Wilson, Va. 24363.
Arrangements were made by Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, Va.

William Marsh Hargett

William Marsh Hargett age 84 of Grassy Creek, NC, formerly of Marshville, NC, died Saturday at his daughter’s residence in Grassy Creek, NC.
Mr. Hargett was born in Marshville, NC on July 9, 1921 to the late James Preston and Mary Jane Strawn Hargett. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Jack Hargett (who died in Belgium during World War II) and Joseph P. (JP) Hargett.
He was a World War II veteran, serving from 1942 to 1945 in England, France and Germany in the 9th Army Air Corps, 461st Air Service Squadron. Mr. Hargett lived in Union County, NC all of his life. He owned and operated a sawmill/logging business where he worked in NC and SC. He also worked from 1993 until 2003 for Lowe’s Home Improvement in Monroe, NC. Mr. Hargett was a member of Wingate Baptist Church, served as a former deacon and Sunday School Teacher at both Bethel and Philadelphia Baptist Churches.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morgan & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Marshville, NC. Rev. Derril Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 26, 2005 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Morgan & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wingate Baptist Church, PO Box 339, Wingate, NC 28174 or the Ashe County Public Library, 148 Library Drive, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
Mr. Hargett is survived by his wife of 56 years, married on January 7, 1949, Gladys Helms Hargett; one daughter: Karen Moll and her husband, Richard, of Grassy Creek, NC; one son, Bill and his wife, Debbie, of Marshville, NC; grandchildren, Josh Webb of Chapel Hill, NC, Nancy Cauffman of Port Charlotte, FL, Kenneth Pipes of Marshville, NC; sisters, Jeri Funderburk of Charlotte, NC and Diane Carter of Wingate, NC; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Larry Lynn Lambeth, 76, of Newton died Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at his residence.
Born January 2, 1929 in Guilford County, he was the son of the late Clarence Sylvesta and Carolyn Hazel Crabtree Lambeth. Prior to becoming a pastor he was a freelance actor doing commercials and training films. He was a retired pastor of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include wife of 45 years, Anna Faye McNeill Lambeth of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Lydia Lynne, and Andrew Dosa of Omaha, NE, Laura Lesa Lambeth Bowman of Taylorsville, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Lee and Brenda Lambeth of Austin, TX, Laird Lawrence and Donna Lambeth of West Jefferson, NC; grandchildren, Logan, Emily, and Jean Marie Lambeth of Austin, TX; Emily Faye Bowman of Taylorsville, NC, Sabrina LeAnne Lambeth of West Jefferson, NC, and sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Sue and Don Bassett of Greensboro, NC.
A Service of Remembrance was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Newton. Rev. Daniel G. Martin officiated. The family received friends following the service.

Mrs. Cazzie Crenice Roark Potter passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005 at Ashe Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 23, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Baptist Home Church with Rev. Larry Shepherd, Rev. Darrell Graybeal and Brother David Benfield officiating. Burial followed in the Potter cemetery in Creston.
The family received friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Baptist Home Church.
She was born March 10, 1915 to Audie Asbury Roark and Sylvania Delphia Mahala Roark of Creston.
Mrs. Potter was married to the late Mason Lee Potter for 75 years. They resided in the Creston community. She was a retired homemaker and a faithful member of Baptist Home Church for 60 years until her illness. She loved to garden and sew. She designed many beautiful quits.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Lee Potter; a daughter, Deanna Carpenter Johnson; a granddaughter, Tammie Annette Graybeal; one brother, Zink Emerson; two sisters, Delphia Roark and Sylvia Roark Mahala; two son-in-laws, Jimmie Calvin Graybeal and Bobby Carpenter and two nieces and one nephew.
She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Graybeal Blevins and her husband, Lowell, Jr., Joyce Johnson and her husband, James, Sue Treadway and her husband, Clifford, all of Creston; four granddaughters, Terri G. and husband Chad Blevins, Tarrina G and husband, Ricky Osborne, Michelle Treadway, all of Creston and Delorise Carpenter and husband, Lundy Taylo, of Taylorsville; five grandsons, Gregory Lee Graybeal, Michael L. Graybeal, Shane Cole Blevins, of Creston and Bobby Carpenter and wife, Sandy, of West Grove, PA and Tony Johnson, of Parksburg; four great-grandsons, Gabriel Graybeal of Creston, Bobby Carpenter, Jr. of Pennsylvania, Nathaniel Osborne of Creston and Adam Taylor, of Taylorsville, NC; four great-granddaughters, Makayla Blevins, Megan and Victoria Graybeal, all of Creston and Crysta Taylor; two sisters, Jewell Price and the late Elmer Price, of Creston, Verlie and husband, Ray Roark, of Parksdale, Oregon; several nieces and nephews also survive.

John Kenneth Price age 73 of Clemmons, NC, died Monday, October 17, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Price was born in Newcastle, NB. Canada on August 25, 1932 to Jack James and Annie Maude (Gahan) Price. He worked as a mechanic all his life and retired from Mock Tire Service in Winston Salem, NC. In his retirement he loved to do carpentry work.
Mr. Price was preceded in death by brothers; Victor Price, John Price and a sister, Barbara Price.
A graveside service was held Friday, October 21, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery. Lloyd Denny opened the service, and the eulogy was delivered by Lynn Price, and the family reflected and celebrated the life of Mr. Price.
Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Beverly Denny Price; daughter, Cavina Clark of Rock Hill, SC; brothers, Charles Price of Detroit, Michigan, David Price of Fredericton, NB. Canada, Bobby Price of Lower Sackville, N.S. Canada, Peter Price of Calgary, AB. Canada, Gary Price of Plattsburg, New York, Gerald Price and Ralph Price of Montreal Quebec, Canada & Rex Price of Calgary, AB. Canada; sisters, Linda Price of Edmonton, AB. Canada; Donna Laumann of Warner Robbins, GA; mother-in-law, Dorothy Denny of Todd, NC; brother-in-law, Bryan Lloyd Denny of Winston Salem, NC; sisters-in-law, Tammy Denny McCollum of Winston Salem, NC, and Michelle Denny of Todd, NC. Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Senter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Bobby Absher, Elder Ed Bowman and Nathan Eggers officiating. Burial followed in the Brown-Fowler cemetery. The family received friends from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2005 at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Ashe County on Monday, February 7, 1921 to the late James Thomas Fowler and the late Annie Elizabeth Edwards Fowler. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Senter Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Richardson and wife, Betty, and Kenneth Richardson and wife, Patty, all of Crumpler; three daughters, Volree Johnston and husband, Richard, of Kernersville, NC, Debra Freeman and husband, Sammy and Edna Michaels and husband, Mikie, all of Lexington, NC; a sister, Lillian Richardson, of Crumpler; a brother-in-law, Garland Baldwin, of Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Dorinda Fowler, of Crumpler; a special friend and caregiver, Joann Holman; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Willard Wilson Richardson age 84 of Crumpler, NC, died Thursday, October 20, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Richardson was born in Ashe County, NC on October 1, 1921 to the late Jim and Bertie Williams Richardson. He served in the US Army during World War II, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Funeral ervices were held Sunday, October 23, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Bobby Absher, Rev. Reeves Jones, and Rev. Lloyd Frye officiated. Burial followed in the Fowler-Brown cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, October 23, 2005 from 1 - 2 p.m. at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, Lillian Fowler Richardson; son, Donnie Richardson of Crumpler, NC; daughter, Rita Richardson of Crumpler, NC; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Miss Leighann Marie Shepherd, age 27, of Warrensville died Friday, October 21, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 24, 2005 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Greer and Rev. Jim Francis officiating. Burial followed in Brown cemetery in the Rich Hill Community.

Miss Shepherd was born on Monday, May 1, 1978 in Ashe County to Leon and Sandy Roten Shepherd. She was a member of Sugar Tree Baptist Church. Leighann loved the computer and her two dogs; she was a great collector of dolphin figurines and beanie babies.
Miss Shepherd is survived by her parents; Leon and Sandy Roten Shepherd of Warrensville; her fiancée Marty Davis of Sparta; two brothers Mark Shepherd and wife, Angela, Keith Shepherd and wife, Jamie, all of Warrensville; maternal grandmother, Jean Roten of Warrensville; one nephew, Eeen Shepherd and several aunts and uncles also survive.

Mr. Robert Lee Barker, better known as “Bob”, age 77, of Kernersville, formerly of Ashe County died Friday morning, December 16, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens cemetery with military rites.
The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Barker was born in Ashe County on May 14, 1928 to the late James Avery Barker and the late Jestin Stuart Barker. He served in the United States Army during Korea. He was an owner and manager of a retail store.
He is survived by his wife, Allison Arnold Barker; a son, Tim R. Barker, of Summerfield, NC; a daughter, Karen Blevins, of Fulson, California; a brother, Gilbert Barker, of Pulaski, VA; three sisters, Magdalene Phipps of West Jefferson, Ruby Brooks, of Jefferson and Josie Smith of North Wilkesboro; five grandchildren; Seth Barker, Spencer Barker, Emma Barker, Avery Blevins and Kindal Blevins; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Robert Warren “Bobby” Brooks, age 66, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie McCoy and Rev. David Testerman officiating. Burial followed in the Howell-Hill cemetery.
The family received friends from 2 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service.
Mr. Brooks was born in Ashe County on Friday, July 14, 1939 to the late Lester Brooks and to Cecile Davis Brooks. He served in the United States Army. He was a surveyor. He attended Landmark Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Childers Brooks; his mother, Cecile Brooks, of Jefferson; several cousins also survive.
Flowers were accepted.

Nannie Thomas Eldreth, age 87 of Warrensville, NC, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Eldreth was born September 30, 1918 in Ashe County to the late Ed and Sally Poe Thomas. Mrs. Eldreth was a member of Sugar Tree Baptist Church. Her many hobbies included crocheting, gardening, growing flowers, cooking and feeding people.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Greer, Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Fred Greer officiated. Burial followed in the Miller-Roland cemetery in Warrensville. The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, December 16 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Eldreth is survived by her husband, James Eldreth; one daughter, Geneva Graybeal of Warrensville, NC; two sons, James Eldreth Jr. of Warrensville and Jack Eldreth of Fleetwood, NC; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Eller was born May 2, 1930 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Charlie and Lessie Sheets Eller. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Eller.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rex Hall, Rev. Reeves Jones and Rev. Lonnie Jones officiated. Burial followed in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery. The family received friends from 1 - 2 p.m. prior to the service Saturday at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Eller is survived by his wife, Mary Hall Eller; one son, William Eller Jr. of Jefferson, NC; one brother, Ernest Eller of West Jefferson, NC; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
