Regina Dawn Perry, better known as Jeannie, 44, was remembered at funeral services held March 14 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ted Reynolds, Rev. Dan Hess and Rev. Lonnie Jones officiated. Burial followed in the Tucker cemetery.
Mrs. Perry was born in Ashe County to Kenneth Absher of Jefferson and Helen Herne of West Jefferson.
She is survived by her husband, Lindon Perry; her parents; one daughter, Cindy and husband, Randall Stansberry, Millers Creek; two brothers, Jerry Sutherland and wife, Wilma, Boone, and Scotty Herne, West Jefferson; her twin sister, Rebecca "Becky" Perry and husband, Vance, Crumpler; and sister, Pam Cox and husband, Glennie, West Jefferson; two nieces, Jill Trivette and Hope Perry; and four nephews, Brandon Sutherland, Bret Baldwin, Bart Baldwin and Shannon Baldwin.

Lockie Victoria Landreth Graybeal, 90, was remembered at funeral services held March 8 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bruce Roten and Rev. and Mrs. Hobert Dowell provided the music and songs. Graveside services were held March 9 at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Mrs. Graybeal was born in Ashe County to James Landreth and Amanda Lizzie Miller Landreth. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh A. Graybeal; one daughter, Vilena Johnson; two brothers, Avery and Rev. Paul Landreth; and two sisters, Virlie Ham and Stella Gwynn.
She is survived by a daughter, Imagean Brackins, Creston; two son-in-laws, William C. Brackins and Rev. Frank Johnson; two sisters, Mamie Weaver, Edenton, Ga., and Reba Mattheson, Marion, Va.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Woodrow Frelin Burgess, 86, was remembered at funeral services held July 31 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Elder Jess Higgins and Elder Floyd South officiated. Burial followed in the Calloway cemetery in West Jefferson.
Mr. Burgess was born in Ashe County to Wiley and Matilda Absher Burgess. He was a retired buyer for Burgess Furniture in West Jefferson. He was preceded in death by a grandson, J.D. Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Monnie Pendleton Burgess; two step-sons, Patrick J. Hughes Jr., Springfield, Va., and Kenneth T. Hughes, Athens, Ala.; two step-daughters, Treva D. Phillips, Stuart, Va., and Beverly M. Siler, Monroe, Ga.; one brother, Edward Burgess, Mountain City, Tenn.; two sisters, Chessie Faw, Berea, Ky. and Evazella Parsons, West Jefferson; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Margaret Elizabeth Carter Boddy, 81, was remembered at funeral mass held July 31 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Jefferson. Father Mark S. Lawlor officiated. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson.
Mrs. Boddy was born in Rochester, N.Y. to George A. and Francis Coyle Carter. She was a loving homemaker and mother and retired from Southern Devices Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis Boddy.
She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Boddy, Winterville; a son, Laurence Richard Boddy, Churchville, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jeffery Boddy and Alicia McKee; three great-grandchildren, Weston Boddy, Austin McKee and Cameron McKee; and several nieces and nephews.

Lantie Queen Graybeal Farmer, 77, was remembered at funeral services held July 30 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson. Rev. Norris Greer, Rev. Arvie Lynch and Rev. William Greer officiated. Burial followed in the Miller Family cemetery in Lansing.
Mrs. Farmer was born in Ashe County to Adolphus Lee and Rosa Osborne Graybeal. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Farmer.
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Osborne, Grassy Creek, Shirley Calhoun, West Jefferson, and Wanda Booker, Burkesville, Va.; one son, Bobby Farmer, West Jefferson; four sisters, Ruth Greer, Jefferson, Lona Jones, Kingsport, Tenn., Irene Graveley and Ester Henderson, both of Wytheville, Va.; one brother, Hardin Graybeal, Mt. Airy; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Velda Bumgardner

Velda Henninger Bumgardner, 91, was remembered at funeral services held July 31 at Henson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Denver Carpenter officiated. Pallbearers were the sons and grandsons. Graveside services and interment was held this morning at Sutherland cemetery.
Mrs. Bumgardner was a native of Valentine, Ariz. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, a retired cook and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don D. Bumgardner; and a daughter, Glenda Russell. She was the daughter of the late Elvin and Dollie Smith Henninger.
She is survived by two sons, Steve and Don Bumgardner, both of Creston; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Humphrey is survived by his father and stepmother, David E. and Martha Humphrey Sr., West Jefferson; his mother and stepfather, Betty Joe Humphrey and Ronald Jones, Lumberton; three brothers, David E. Humphrey Jr. of Shannon, James Richard Humphrey, Red Springs, and William Joseph Humphrey, Whiteville; one foster brother, Rev. Jim R. Butler, Lumberton; one stepsister, Jane Dillard, Jefferson; a special aunt, Frances McArthur Cliffton; a special family friend, Don Carter; and a host of other family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ona Darnell Caldwell; and one brother, Ed Caldwell, San Francisco, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Blanche Mullis Jones, 87, was remembered at funeral services held July 27 at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. Rev. Dean Rector and Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiated. Graveside services followed in the Colvard cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Jones; two sons, Thomas Jones and Wade Jones; and one daughter, Loretta Blevins.
She is survived by eight sons, Robert Harold Jones, Ronnie Jones and Donnie Jones, all of North Wilkesboro, Rex Jones, Jesse Jones and Theodore Blevins, all of West Jefferson, Alan Jones, Rock Hill, S.C., and Roger Jones, Yadkinville; and 29 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

James Rhuda Perry, 74, was remembered at funeral services held July 28 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Denton Hart, Rev. Eddie Lewis and Rev. Norman Carpenter officiated. Burial followed in the Burnt School House Road cemetery.
Mr. Perry was born in Ashe County to Frank Monroe Perry and Lessie Patrick Perry. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife, Dolly Shepherd Perry of the home; a son, James David Perry, Mountain City, Tenn.; three daughters, Freda Perry, Mountain City, Tenn., Francis Payne and Anita Lipford, both of Creston; two step-daughters, Shirley Lewis and Ann Dixon, both of Lansing; a brother, Clarence Perry, Creston; two half-brothers, Vaughn Perry, Creston and Clifford Perry, Maryland; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

R.D. Wood, 58, was remembered at funeral services held Aug. 6 at Big Laurel Christian Union Church. Mr. Darrel Graybeal, minister, and Rev. Frank Woods officiated. Entombment followed in the Mausoleum of Love at Sunset Memorial Park in Mountain City, Tenn. Pallbearers were Wayne Vanover, Paul Payne, Jim Hoosier, Carl Farmer, Jerry Hoosier and Bob Hoosier. Honorary pallbearers were D.C. Pierce and Wallace Lewis.
Mr. Wood was a native of Ashe County, but had made his home in Johnson County, Tenn. most of his life. He was a son of the late Charlie and Callie Mayberry Wood and was preceded in death by three brothers. He was formerly an employee at the Timberland Shoe Company and was a member of the Big Laurel Christian Union Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen V. Wood, Mountain City, Tenn.; one son, Charlie Ray and wife, Shannon Wood, Mountain City, Tenn.; three sisters, Dola Sapp, Freeze, Va., and Dorlene Wood and Iva Lee Hoosier, both of Creston; one granddaughter, Makayla Wood, Mountain City, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Childress was born in Ashe County to Thomas Earl Childress and Cora Wiles Childress. He worked for Thomasville Furniture.
He is survived by his wife, Deane Pierce Childress; two sons, Jim Childress Jr., Jefferson and Mickey Childress, Lansing; a daughter, Bernadine Houck, West Jefferson; a brother, Wayne Childress, Maryland; two sisters, Hazel Porter, Appleton, Md., and Faith Staley, Wilkesboro; two grandchildren, Heather Campbell and Christopher Poe; and several nieces and nephews.
