William Henry Hartzog, better known as “Bill”, 62, was remembered at graveside services held Nov. 30 at Hartzog Family cemetery.
Mr. Hartzog was born in Ashe County to Howard Hartzog and Jennie Hartzog.
He was a retired supervisor at Gate’s Rubber Company in Jefferson.
He served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby Carpenter Hartzog of the home; four daughters, Brenda Summerlin, Rocky Mount, Debbie Blackburn, Crumpler, Sandy Bower, Jefferson, and Amanda Beth Church, West Jefferson; his mother, Jennie Hartzog, Segraves Nursing Care Center; three brothers, Dudley Hartzog, Lady Lake, Fla., Terry Hartzog and Randy Hartzog, both of West Jefferson; a sister, Dawna Benedict, West Jefferson; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Edna Blissman Ferrara, 83, will be remembered at memorial services held at a later date.
Mrs. Ferrara was born in Westchester, N.Y. to Edward and Louise Flathman Blissman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ferrara.
She is survived by one son, Donald Schrameck, Florida; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Glen Ray Owen Sr., 74, was remembered at graveside services held Nov. 28 at Owen Family cemetery in the Wolf Knob Community.
Mr. Owen was born in Ashe County to Manty Owen and Cynthia Sturgill Owen.
He was a machinist at Martin Marietta.
He was a veteran and served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Davis Owen of the home; two sons, Glen Ray Owen Jr. and Dennis Wayne Owen, both of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Barbara Griffin, Alabama; three brothers, Billy Owen, Mouth of Wilson, Va., Dwayne Owen, Collindale, Pa., and Joe Owen, Stuart, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Graham and Martha Howell, both of Lansing; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Church was born in Ashe County to Walter and Virginia Surber Church. He was a tree grower.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Holman Church; three daughters, Libby Church, North Wilkesboro, Melissa Woodring, Boone, and Tammy Falcon, Porto Rico; one brother, Don Church, Laurel Springs; two sisters, Libby Loggins, Fleetwood, and Dana Miller, Fleetwood; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pruitt was born in Ashe County to George and Inez Absher Blevins.
He is survived by two daughters, Jannie Walker, Delaware, and Netta Finderbuck, Concord; four sons, Terry Pruitt, Baldwin, Oldn Pruitt, Fleetwood, and Cabel Pruitt and Bamba Pruitt, Lansing; three sisters, Jossie Combs, Jefferson, Bertha Pruitt, Greenville, Tenn., and Belle Denny, Maryland; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Delbert R. Williams, 86, passed away Nov. 27 at the Sunny Vista Care Center in Portland, Ore.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Bledsoe Williams, Portland, Ore.; two daughters, June Harris, Hood River, Ore., and Carol Woods, Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Dale Williams, Jefferson, Dallas Williams, Crumpler, and Dennis Williams, Portland, Ore.; one sister, Della Townsend, Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Nov. 29 at Sunny Vista Care Center Chapel in Portland, Ore.

Berdie Ethel Woodie, 96, was remembered at funeral services held Dec. 2 at Temple Baptist Church.

Burial followed in the West Jefferson cemetery.
Mrs. Woodie was born in Ashe County to Ruben and Virginia Barker Sexton.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Sheets, West Jefferson; six sons, Quincy Woodie, Greensboro, Edward Woodie Jr., Salisbury, Vance Woodie, Doug Woodie and Kenny Woodie, all of West Jefferson, and Rev. Glenn Woodie, Jefferson; one sister, Bertha Finney, Jefferson; 29 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Calloway was born in Ashe County to William T. Calloway and Mattie Alice Calloway.
He was a car salesman.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Beacham Calloway of the home; a son, Eugene Calloway Jr., Todd; a sister, Violet Williams, Newland; two grandchildren and one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Fred Eugene Lewis

Fred Eugene Lewis, 81, passed away at Coquina Center in Ormond Beach, Fla.
Mr. Lewis was born in Winston-Salem. He was a retired manufacturer’s representative for Seilig Chemical Co. in Atlanta, Ga.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Force.
His hobbies included golfing and playing the piano.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Lewis; one son, Fred Lewis Jr., Winston-Salem; one daughter, Susan Bamford, Keystone Heights, Fla.
